Damn near a dead ringer for Tobacco Vanille. Yes there are differences of course like with all clones. This one is lighter and not as dense. I like Tobacco Vanille better, however for those on a budget this is a winner.

This is a nice fragrance, it is a masculine scent even tho it’s marketed for women. I like it but I’m not sure I love it. I gotta give it a few wears. Only reason I say this is because I’m not really too fond of the opening because it comes off as a lipstick kinda smell and then dries down to a nice vanilla, tobacco scent on my skin. The drydown is great and that’s what I do love. This is strong and I would say it’s an intimate scent that I will only reach for on holidays or date nights.
Edit, I got a sample of Tobacco Vanille and it’s just like it, however I do feel like TV is slightly more refined but it’s more or less the same scent. Both are really strong imo.

The projection of Velvet Teddy is pretty good but longevity is only 4 hours max on my skin. I think this can be worn by both sexes as the tobacco note is quite masculine in terms of projection. More for cooler weather. If I smell VT on a man it would definitely turn my head. I have this and Tobacco Vanille (both smell very similar to each other) and love both of them equally. In comparison, TV is more stronger with tobacco and spice the more dominant notes, whereas VT is a lot more sweeter and musky. If you like TV but can’t afford the price tag then VT is a cheaper alternative and I found more wearable of the two.

This was the most exciting of the MAC perfumes I’ve tested so far. Definitely won’t be for everyone but I enjoy it. Reminds me slightly of Christmas and spiced cookies, but mostly it’s the smell you encounter when opening a canister of rich moist pipe tobacco. On the right person, this would be to die for heavenly. Very sexy!

The first time I smelled this was back in May this year. The weather was heating up here, and I was doing some browsing at the mall and saw the shadescents lined up at the MAC counter. Having heard about these I though ‘why not?’ and decided to spritz Velvet Teddy. I instantly regretted it. It was so cloying, nauseating even. I could actually feel my stomach turn every time I catched a whiff! ‘How can anybody like this?’ I thought. As soon as I got home I tried scrubbing the scent off my wrist to no avail. However, there was something about Velvet Teddy that spoke to me despite my initial repulsion. I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Fast forward to September. The weather has cooled down considerably, the humid heat making way for cool, crisp autumn-weather. I was at the MAC counter again the other day and saw this standing there yet again. Against my better judgment I spritzed it again, and… my oh my! I can’t believe this is the same perfume I smelled back in May! The cloying, nauseating sweetness (the honey) that made me feel physically ill in warm weather works splendidly in chillier conditions – honey is still the star of the show, but instead of it hogging the spotlight it shares the stage with musk, spices (that’s what it smells like to me, anyway) and a slight hint of tobacco. I can’t believe I went from straight up detesting this perfume to loving it! On me it leans very much feminine, but do not mistake this for a bubbly, girly scent! Velvet Teddy is grown up, womanly, mysterious and darkly sexy. Longevity and sillage is great. For me, two spritzes do the trick nicely. I am getting this ASAP. It’s strictly an autumn/winter scent for me though, and I usually don’t mind spraying a heavier scent in warmer weather, but it’s a no-go with this one unless I want to make myself sick!
Update 18th sept.: So I went and got a bottle of Velvet Teddy a few days ago, and can I just say that the scent is even more beautiful from a fresh, unopened bottle than from the tester bottles I’ve sampled! It’s far more velvety and smooth and warm, it’s doesn’t have the sharp hit of alcohol in the beginning that the tester had. It’s delicious! I can’t wait to wear this all Autumn and Winter long!

    Decidedly masculine…
    Green tobacco….leather….vanilla…all there.
The first spritz will attack your nasal cavity promptly.
Pepper-ish vibe for sure at first. The the developement starts ….and I am HOOKED !! TF Tobacco Vanille..?.Yup!
But it IS different than the TF. Rich…smooth…classic vibe. Makes me think of…vintage Fendi for women and men, Lagerfeld KL femme AND Homme….and yes…even a touch of original Lagerfeld for men cologne…IMO.I should also say,to my nose,IMO, a “touch” of YSL Kouros!
Crazy,I know….but that is what my nose picks up. The drydowns still projects…and becomes a touch powdery too. Notes smooth out and I love this !!!
Amazing, IMO, and niche quality. I will admit, not a “safe” blind buy if you are not into the general vibes of the scents I listed above…just sayin…
Bac-up bottle worthy for me,due to my guess that this Mac line will soon be discontinued……

I absolutely dislike this fragrance-all of it. The beginning, the middle, the end, and the lingering of it. I could see this one working better on me if tobacco was used. The combination of notes in Velvet Teddy made me nauseous throughout the entire wear. Definitely not blind-buy worthy, IMO.

Sprayed this on my wrist today, from a tester.
Spells like a mixture of honey spilled on a wet mossy carpet then powdered with black pepper. I don’t like it at all. I’ve had my husband smell my wrist and he was confused that a panel of folks actually approved this scent for marketing. Came on here and I’m pretty surprised by the reviews.
I favor mild fresh crisp fruity or floral fragrances, my favorite so far being Bright crystal by Versace.
To each their own. I won’t be purchasing this so more product for you. Yay!

It smells almost like TF Tobacco Vanille, am happy to have it in my collection.

Agree with those who say it is a dupe for Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford; it’s not as punchy or deep but it is a sillage beast and on my skin lasted a good 8 hours.
If you want a pretty good approximation of TV by Tom Ford without a heft price tag…get this!

Checked this out a couple of days ago at the mac counter. I love it and will purchase closer to fall. Way to hot in the desert right now for this!! Perfect for fall and winter though!!!!

Smells kind of like root beer and tobacco flavored e cigs

  13. :

    3 out of 5

The opening to Velvet Teddy is a slight mess – a sweet musky aroma with a smoky back end. It quickly settles into a decent Tobacco Vanille clone, and spends a lot of time on your skin afterwards.
A definite unisex fragrance, with a slight masculine tilt. The Tobacco Vanille comparison is apt, although Velvet Teddy isn’t quite as punchy, and the tobacco element is less pronounced.
While Velvet Teddy is very much in the same territory as Tobacco Vanille, it isn’t quite there in terms of quality. Still, it’s a wonderful scent, especially after the first twenty minutes of sitting on your skin, and the longevity is impressive.

I don’t get how pepper isn’t listed there. For me, this is peppered honey – in a good way. It smells interesting and sophisticated, the pepper preventing it from getting too sweet. More than powdery, it is a velvety fragrance, very seductive and powerful. Sillage is not great, but I consider that an advantage with this one.

Although it has HUGE similarity with tf tobaco vanille ..and actully I do not like the tom ford one .. it feels like more masculine and I like sexy girly sweet fragrance ..
But thid one i actully surpringly love it!
Its the softer version of tobaco vanille
And I like the dark sexniess in it..
Fits lepord dress with smokey eyes and nude lipstick .. it is daring not safe fragrance .. but make sure it will catch everyones attention .. dark sexy fragrance!
Its sillage is great n lasting too

MMMmmmm..this is nice!! Warm, vanilla, a bit of honey, a bit of smokiness, a bit of tobacco..nice!! I definitely see the comparison to TF Tobacco Vanille. I don’t even care what the notes or the accords say here, I pick up a definite tobacco/vanilla scent, and a touch of honey. A sweet warmth. This does dry down to a soft warm vanilla. A lighter scent, not heavy nor overpowering. I agree with the other reviewers, I pick up an undeniable vanilla note here.
Comforting. Relaxing. Oh how I wish I had this at the beginning of Winter (even the Fall), not the end of Winter. This shines especially in the cold weather, I think, and luckily (for this frag) we are still having some very cold weather right now..Loving this one!!

Guess why Teddy and Tobacco Vanille are so similar? Because MAC and Tom Ford have the same mother- Estée Lauder XD

  19. :

    3 out of 5

This is a good dupe for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille if you like the tobacco aspect. There is no vanilla, but there is lots of sweet honey. Unfortunately the tobacco isn’t the rich spicy kind TV has…this is a cheap ashtray kind. Velvet Teddy starts out so similar to TV but then dries down to what smells like someone who smokes and covers it up with body spray.

This is a beautiful scent, very wearable on a daily basis and there is for sure a underlying note of Vanilla even though it’s not listed. I’m impressed.
as a side note for everyone in the UK, Primark came out with a bunch of scents last year(?) and they were supposedly knock offs of Jo Malone collection and there’s a scent called Vanilla Absolute that smells exactly like this and its a bargain at under £10.
…just something to keep in mind.

I tried this one “after hearing about similarities to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille” with low expectations but I was impressed.
This is a very nice fragrance and so close to TFTV. I would say 90%+.
The difference is that Mac has a slightly cirtrus component in the vibe. So slight and amost un noticable. Also the sweetnes of Mac is honey based rather than vanilla. They are extremely close and un mature nose might not be able to tell the difference.
This is the best alternative to Tom Fords if you dont want to break the bank.

There are very few perfumes I dislike so much I can’t find anything good or at least tolerable about them. Unexpectedly, Velvet Teddy is one of them. I hesitated to write a review cause I thought the tester bottle I tried might have been off. Today I sniffed a new bottle and it smelled the same, so here we go.
I don’t mean to offend fans of this fragrance, obviously we can’t all love the same scents.
So what is it I hate about Velvet Teddy?
First of all, it reminds me of a peppermint cocoa vanilla candle I once had. No idea where the minty note is coming from. I didn’t particularly dislike that candle back then, but there is a reason people usually don’t smell like candle wax. It just smells wrong. Also, this scent is really intense and cloying, much stronger than a candle could ever be, and has some pungent smokey and herbal background notes, like discount cigarette tobacco.
Total scrubber for me, and really long-lasting. Obviously I would advise to test this with caution. I usually like sweet scents and tobacco notes, but honey is a hit or miss note to me, so maybe that’s part of the problem.
I have only tried Tobacco Vanille on paper, there is a slight similarity but TV didn’t seem so sickly and waxy to me, and more masculine.

Wow i am SO surprised to see it listed as a floral. Like the other commenter below said.. very spicy and sweet and i also smell Cinnamon, clove, vanilla absolute and, though faint, ginger. My nose is picking up tobacco and incense too. I really like it. I think it smells heady and sexy and very warm. Nice for night time especially in colder months. I really like the frosty cool brown bottle. The whole thing totally reminds me of a teddy.. not the cute furry kind you cuddled with as a kid.. im talking about the sexy sheer black one with velvet detail that you pair thigh highs that you wear for a special lover! I always favored MAC for their edgy fun and creative products and I like the concept of matching scent to lipstick. Now i want to try the other Shadescents! I’m sure Velvet Teddy will be my favorite though.

Reminds me of a more feminine Burberry London pour Homme… very peppery, tobacco, vanilla, theres a unique complexity about this perfume that Ive never smelled before but I really enjoy it for night time if youre a fan of spicy, earthy scents.

Well I blind brought this as so many compared this to Tom Ford’s TV, I’m hugely impressed with how similar they smell. Worth the buy for how cheap this is. I can’t comment on how long this lasts, however I would say this is more muscular than feminine.

  29. :

Velvet Teddy is very spicy fragrance, to my nose smells like clove oil, cinnamon and vanilla. In my country there is a tincture for gingival inflammation called Gingisol, they are very smilar smells 😀 It suits more to the colder months, fresh and warm, not a common crowd pleaser stuff, so be aware with this. Unisex definately, doesn’t smell masculine nor feminine I think.
The sillage is low to moderate and lasts about 5 hours on my skin.

Yuppers, this is almost identical to TFTV. Tested today at a MAC store. Got home and sprayed a sample of TF tobacco vanille. After 10 minutes I can’t tell the difference. I don’t like neither of them, mostly because TFTV is not the type of tobacco I enjoy in fragrances. So consequently, velvet teddy is a pass.

  31. :

So glad I tested this first.. It’s too sweet for me. TV is darker which I would rather wear…
    Edit:
So after 8 hours I still smell this on my hand. The drydown is tamed now, but I would not want to wait that long to get to the point where I can tolerate this scent. Am sure if you have a different taste, you would like it. Definitely try before you buy.

Tested this fragrance today. Very good, strong, and UNISEX. Oddly, it is more masculine. Does it smell like Tobacco Vanille? Yes. What is the difference? Nothing much. This seems a touch powdery but not too feminine at all.
Very aggressive tobacco to start and finish, honey and a touch of bergamot. Short lived bergamot. Cold weather definitely. smells like a powder root beer–kind of gourmand. Dry down is totally sweet tobacco with very light florals in the back.
For men, if you have tobacco sweet fragrance of any type, this may be redundant. Now that I smelled it, I have several fragrances that do the same thing. Therefore, it is not a MUST have for me. If I didn’t have a sweet tobacco scent, I would not hesitate to pick it up.
Is this worth a purchase? Yes!!!!!! But only get it if you need this type of scent or looking for a Tobacco Vanille alternative. Very good creation with tons of quality. I think MEN CAN TOTALLY wear this. More masculine too me.

Tried this out of curiosity more than anything and must admit to being presently surprised.
I found it to be quite zesty on the opening, almost a bergamot/tobacco spritz but with a quite pronounced black tea note, which i assume is what you get when you citrus up your tobacco blossom.
Much sharper than the other Tobacco frags I own (TFTV, B2B and BPH) but this soon gets tempered by a wonderfully aromatic honey accord that mellows everything out beautifully, is sweet but not in a sugary sickly way.
After the 20-25 minute opening and transition the frag pretty much stays as is for the duration thereafter and that is no bad thing as this is delightful.
I keep getting wafts of honeyed tobacco with a slight zesty hint to it and this is 8 hours in.
Is this a TFTV clone? I’d say no, as this is very much its own thing. Are they similar, well sort of. TFTV to me is much deeper, broodier, spice heavy and more in your face, this is decidedly more mellow, quite charming and warm and cozy.
RRP is only £35 50ml EDP, so its likely a safe blind buy but is available anywhere you see a Mac make up counter.
I’d say for any tobacco and/or honey frag lovers this is a safe buy and a good addition to your collection.

I ignored this line for the longest time, but the many comparisons to TF TV caught my attention. So many perfumes are released every year that there was bound to be an affordable and decent dupe for Tobacco Vanille. Surprisingly, Velvet Teddy lipstick is my most worn lipstick shade from MAC (and the color of this bottle). The lasting power of this impressive. It just goes on for hours! Every time the notes develop I enjoy the transition. This is my favorite of the Shadescents perfume line. The only thing missing is the spice and kick from Tobacco Vanille. This has more honey. It’s boozy, sweet enough (candy-like on some people), some floral, tobacco, and all the warm comfort people crave on a fall day. Update: This is more similar to Mugler Pure Havane than TV. I have all three to compare.

Have an arm covered in this. If I didn’t know any better, I would have guessed this as being something by Tom Ford. I pick up intense honey and sweet pipe tobacco. This gets stronger as the hours go by. If you are looking for something like Tom Ford and have a limited budget, I would say this is a good choice. Will I buy it? No

I only opened this page today because I saw MAC Velvet Teddy in the list of new reviews on the right side of my browser. I was curious what a MAC fragrance might smell like, and I became even more intrigued when I saw this being compared to Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Now, I’ve never had the pleasure of smelling TF TV (I have never even seen any Tom Ford fragrances in stores in my country, so either they are not readily available locally or they are sold in more exclusive boutiques), but after reading descriptions and reviews of it here on Fragrantica, I so wanted to try it as it sounded like something I’d love.
Well, I still have no idea how TV smells like, but if Velvet Teddy is a dupe, oh my, it is pure love! I went right to the MAC counter at the nearby mall during my lunch break and was thrilled to find the Shadescents testers. I didn’t even realize they were already available in the nearby branch because I don’t really visit the MAC counter. I sprayed some on a tester strip and some on my skin, and oooh how delightful it is! I even declined to smell the other fragrances, which I would normally sniff just because I have the chance to see how they smell. (I’m the type who feels a bit embarrassed to sniff testers without buying while the sales assistant hovers by and tries to sell something to me.)
Well, I don’t own anything like this (my collection is rather small), and Velvet Teddy contains some notes I haven’t encountered much or at all, and yet, it smells exactly as I imagined. Very warm and cozy, with the sweetness of honey and tonka bean tempered by spiciness of tobacco. I’ve never encountered tobacco in a fragrance before as until recently I’ve stuck to lighter, fresher or fruitier scents, and I never thought it could smell so delightful. And even though I don’t have any real recollection of meeting a scent like this, it somehow feels so comforting and familiar, almost like coming home to a safe place.
Needless to say, Velvet Teddy is now very high on my want list, and trusting what others have said about its similarities to Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille, I no longer feel the need to actively seek out the latter.
    EDIT:
I agree with thesheppardess’s observation above. Velvet Teddy did get stronger as the hours wore on. Initially, I had to press my arm to my nose to catch the fragrance, but about an hour later, I kept catching whiffs of the scent as I sat in front of my computer at work. To my surprise, it had gotten stronger and fuller. Also, it lasted at least a good nine hours on me. I could still smell it on my arm when I went to take a shower last night, reluctant to wash it off. It may have lasted even longer.
Velvet Teddy totally dominated my afternoon and I could barely keep my mind off it as I savored the delightful smell, knowing I would have to wash it off in the evening. This is a fragrance I really must have!

Forget what you think you know about perfumes.
This smells like you stuck your head in a beehive, stings and all. Extreme spiciness and honey, pure pure pure. Smells like a comb. Nothing this realistic. Too realistic for me, I will pass. Sillage bomb. This could clear out a floor!

One thing is for sure: I never thought I would find this honey and clove erotic masterpiece in my local M.A.C store. Yes, I said erotic: you can thank the prominent honey notes for that. Anyone who has been around the block a few times will know what I mean. It’s sexy, people. Really sexy.
And the longevity? Outstanding, in a way I’ve rarely encountered: not even Dior Addict lasts this long on my skin, and, by many accounts, Dior Addict is tenacious, almost to the point of being an olfactory tattoo. But there you have it: Velvet Teddy lasts and lasts, all honey and cloves and a musky scent that make it hard to tell where my personal scent ends and where the perfume begins. The rich honey, spicy, musky notes last and last, easily 10 hours on my skin. For the price, this juice is incredible.
He says to me, “What is that smell? You smell so good, so good…” And then he bites my thigh.

im a grown black man…….i walked into the mac store at easton town center…..asked to smell this scent and i grabbed it and sprayed it on………mind you i had tom ford tobacco vanille for a while in a good decant size and i love it…..but this velvet teddy though is SO CLOSE TO masterpiece from tom ford…….smells 90 percent the same to my nose with a suttle hint of floral notes with a suttle creamyness to make it a tinge more feminine ……other than that is a dead ringer……and at 57 bucks for 1.7 its a damn steal……oh yeah just to let you know the longevity is solid seriously i have some scents that are pee water strength but this one was a good 3 hours projection and 6-8 hours small scent bubble close to me…..damn mac is no joke……..same parent company as tom ford….this juice is the truth for the price point. im buying this as soon as i get paid two days from today. trust and believe me. I completely agree with other reviewers that this a fantastic “dupe” for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. In the Mac store yesterday the sales gal brought me over to the perfumes and asked which one I was looking for. When I told her Velvet Teddy, she said, “I used to work in fragrances and this smells exactly like TF TV!” I told her that’s why I came to try it. And sure enough, yes, it is. Sillage and longevity in line with the TV as well. So it you want this scent and don’t want to or can’t spend a small fortune…

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I’m usually pretty slow to call “dupe” on a fragrance, but this one comes really damn close to Tobacco Vanille. I love TV but oddly enough, I might like this one better – it’s slightly thicker and doesn’t have that overly smooth room candle vibe I got from the Tom Ford. Love it, already got me a bottle.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Not much to add to the commentary. Thick honey mixed with pipe tobacco, like plain shisha. I agree with @amna723 that it comes off a bit like air freshener initially, the honey note specifically. I think many honey notes tend to be too sweet and edge on artificial. I’ve yet to smell a honey that’s fragrant, light, and natural outside of actual honey. Just for the record, I haven’t smelled Tobacco Vanille, but I quite like Velvet Teddy once the sweetness dissipates.
EDIT: Yup! Once the sweetness settles down the tobacco takes the reigns and this becomes a -lot- smoother. Worth waiting for the dry down.

  46. :

Yep. Dead ringer for TF Tobacco Vanilla. In fact, the entire new MAC line has more in common with TF fragrances than not.
Lasting power on this is impressive compared to the price.

I’ve received samples from Mac for the entire lipstick series and this is the only one I’ve liked to be honest, but I do like it a lot. It has very prominent notes of honey, tonka and tobacco, woody but in a very soft, delicious manner. Reminds of scented pipe tobacco smoke and old libraries. If you like TF tobacco vanille, you might want to try this one, it’s very similar but with a kinder, more feminine touch.

A more feminine Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille indeed more powdery tobacco with a thick dose of honey to balance it! I’m in looooove!

Velvet Teddy = honey + tobacco. ’nuff said.

  50. :

Impressive. At first spritz VT’s honey note reminds me of Mugler’s Angel. This is indeed very close to Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. I love TV but it is a bit too heavy on the tobacco and very masculine. In Velvet Teddy the tobacco is less cloying without losing the warmth and sensuality. VT is one of the winners in the MAC Shadescents collection.

  51. :

The first note opens like boozy vanilla to me. Delicious !!!!! I have looked to long for a boozy fragrance!
Then you get hit by tonka beans. I picture fresh vanilla pods when I smell these tonka beans . And then you get a sweetness of honey and musk. It generates warmth in the fragrance and energizes the aura of the wearer. I also get sandalwood scent in the base somehow although there are no sandalwood notes in the composition .
To me, it’s my personality in a perfume.
Boozy , sexy slightly dangerous with the smell of tabacco, then vanilla for that innocence, tonka beans for warmth and generosity , honey for liquid passion, and sandalwood to ground the energy. I am a yogi and this works perfectly for me.
This is my signature perfume . My husband helped pick it out, he loves it on me. Sex in a bottle you could say . I have never smelled Tom ford tobacco vanilla but I believe it when so many people have voted it smells similar.
Also, this perfume lasts and lasts . Even after a shower. A bang for your buck. Super duper awesome. Worth every single dollar.
I love the packaging too, it’s a warm pink brown just like the lipstick in it’s name sake. Beautiful, just beautiful.
Don’t buy it, so I can hoard this scent all to myself!
    Mac has outdone itself!

It’s very air-freshner-like. It’s sharp, musky, and woodsy. It reminds me of a candle bath and body works comes out with every fall. I have a drawer of all my mini fall BBW candles and that drawer smells exactly like this perfume. It’s like it has all the spices of that candle except the pumpkin part lol. Not unpleasant, but just…weird for a perfume.

Hands down a more feminized version of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Almost the same exact scent except TV would be like the parfum version while velvet teddy is the edp. TV is more dense and rich while velvet teddy is the same scent less rich. I sprayed one on one wrist and one on the other and it’s pretty much almost the same scent. Velvet Teddy can change from where the same ingredients like the spices may pop out first meaning the notes may shift to where your eventually smelling that strong honey not later on on the dry down while Tom Ford stays the same all the way through. Both smell the same to where the differences are minimal. Both smell like tobacco, vanilla, boozy and spicy. I mean if that ain’t Tobacco vanille for a cheaper price I don’t know what is. And after trying TV myself for the price tag I may apt to only buy Velvet Teddy just because I love the scent alone since performance on both of them are pretty much the same.. Both smell great but don’t last long and don’t project long either…I would say that Velvet teddy breaks down in notes a bit sooner but it still smells amazing. If you couldn’t afford TV I would say snag Velvet Teddy it’s a wonderful dupe for TV at 3x a cheaper price. The perfume industry is well known for making cheaper dupes and thank God for it cause I love my cheapies too. 🙂

Velvet Teddy is somewhat of a mystery to me. What is this smell!? I haven’t smelled anything like this in recent memory and am indeed curious. I have only encountered some TF fragrances in passing and have not worn many of them, so I don’t have something similar to compare it to.
Like other reviewers, I will say Velvet Teddy is a dirty honey with tobacco, musk, and tonka as the main players. The flowers and papyrus give it a planty element that reminds me of a garden center or greenhouse. It is not a floral or green scent, but kind of a dry earth smell. Maybe this is how the mimosa or ginger is interacting with something?
I feel like this fragrance takes some time to settle and mellow out. Until then, the notes compete for dominance: Sweet, spicy, animal, plant matter. Quite a lot is going on here, on my skin anyway. But the end result is a warm, natural smelling sweetness. This is an adult honey, it smells mature. Perfect for date night or evening adventures.
There is a hint of weird medicinal, antiseptic, powder note that I am unsure how to feel about. It reminds me of Nirvana Bourbon. I can’t quite put my finger on all the elements here, but it’s well balanced (in my amateur opinion). I keep smelling my wrist because it is mysteriously beguiling!

Velvet Teddy is well done. Earthy, grounding, cozy and sexy. Lasts all day. Wish they made a cream to layer. I will be crushed if MAC discontinues this little number. The other five scents released are completely forgettable. This is on a whole different level…it’s hard to believe they were launched together.
Edit: finally tried Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and the resemblance is uncanny. TF is a tiny bit higher quality and smoother in the dry down. Not remotely enough to shell out the cash…go with Velvet Teddy.

Beautiful, my new favourite…so similar to Tobacco Vanille. As Tom Ford and Mac are both owned by Estée Lauder I’m wondering if they are indeed the same thing !!!! With the Mac being the lighter version as an Ead de toilette to TF’s more intense Ead de Parfum ???

i wish i got the tobacco type notes y’all do. on me it is like cedar – an old cedar closet. musty and stale. and i can’t scrub it off!
this is chock full of notes & smells that i like, with honey being the only one that’s iffy (i love real honey, but the honey scents are usually bad).
    i can’t return this fast enough 🙁

I can’t appreciate tobacco, it just reminds me of cigarettes. But, tobacco flower, honey, tonka and ginger omg it’s gorgeous! The result is a spicy cloviness though not in a carnation type of a way. The overall effect is actually invigorating but still quite sweet, rich and powdery. I’m smitten!

This reminds me so much of Maison Martin Margiela By the Fireplace.
Edited to add: I get this in the dry down, after about 4 hours wears.

I’ve been contemplating buying Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille so when I read that this is pretty much a dupe I had to test it. Is is a dupe for TV? Not quite, but eventually yes. On first spray it seems to be missing something that gives TV its initial wow factor, but after it dries down you would be hard pressed to tell the difference and any minor variations (and I do mea
