Vanille Mona di Orio for women and men of Mona di Orio

Share:

Description

When composing Vanille, Mona di Orio imagined a romantic back story involving an old ship from long ago, on its way to Madagascar or the Comoros Islands, carrying precious cargo: rum barrels, oranges, vanilla beans, ylang-ylang, cloves and sandalwood.

Gourmand, smoky, and boozy with a subtle aromatic orange note lingering in the background, Vanille is one Bateau Ivre of perfectly blended notes that will derange your senses with its sensuality.

Vanille opens with a shot of rum flavored with orange rind and spiced with cloves. amber and tonka further warm up this brew as ylang-ylang’s sharp sweetness joins with rich vanilla. guaiac wood wood adds incense smoke as woody notes from vetiver and sandalwood help to create an elegant finish.

But the real star of the show, not surprisingly, is vanilla. Instead of using ethyl vanillin, one of vanilla’s main components that can come across as powdery and sugary, Mona used pure vanilla in this elixir. For a moment – amid this elegant orchestral arrangement of notes in the key of vanilla – the pulpy, sensual creaminess of a split vanilla bean is right there in front of your nose. Delicious!

Vanille was launched in 2011.

Oh my, this is one evocative perfume. I do see a ship, but it’s a cruise ship, it’s 1981, and a poofy-haired woman with plenty of makeup and big, spherical stud earrings is sitting at a restaurant table in her red power suit while waiting for a man to come through the door, saxophone music and all. Very Dynasty. It brings a warm smile to my face, but I would not wear it personally.

This is totally a warming winter scent. Spicy, smoky, woody. It is just perfect for enjoying mulled wine sat outside a log cabin at a Christmas continental market. Do not for a moment think this a gourmand Creme Brulee inspired juice as the name may have you believe. This is definitely one that can be worn on all genders and worn well. It is more vintage Opium than Hypnotic Poison.

    An original vanille.
Starts out a bit green and almost immediately a very prominent, non-sweet vanilla note pops up.
In the dry down the composition is soft, cozy and musky. Quite simple in its form but well done and solid. Not bad at all but very feminine.
I don’t get any booziness or rum.
    7,5/10 (but not for me)

Absolutely adult, grown-up, completely un-sickly, sophisticated and spicy treatment of the theme. I *haaaaaaate* oversweet synthy vanilla ‘fumes – I don’t *want* to smell like a tin of cake or a pan of custard – and even the note alone can ruin things I otherwise like, if it’s not kept in check. But this is wondrous.
When I went into a niche perfume shop blathering on about how I love things that are smoky and spicy and dark, and the SA suggested this, I confess that I was extremely sceptical. Might have curled my lip at him in contempt. (“Are you even listening? I just told you how much I hate gourmands and sweet girly things!!!”) But how wrong I was…
This one is easily nuanced and strong enough to hold its own with any of the other magnificent Monas. It’s very, very upscale and classy and it doesn’t cloy in any way. It might even be considered unisex, (of course men can wear vanillas, but they’re often tobacco/vanilla, which this isn’t – but I think a guy could still carry it well.)
Pricey stuff, and the performance is not as robust as its character (on me it’s grown faint by 3h in, although the after-waft of delicious spice lingers much much longer). But so, so worth it. If you want to expand your vanilla horizons, this is the one to try. One perfume where “vanilla” absolutely does not mean “tame, unadventurous, domestic, predictable”, but the exact opposite.

Gott a sample and on me it is only smoke and some other weird smell, no vanilla at all. I am so disapointed.

This is not your typical sweet vanilla scent, not by a long shot. It’s a boozy, spicy rich vanilla with a good dose of smokiness thrown in – it’s like a grown-up, over 18 vanilla. A vanilla with its kick-arse boots on – leather ones – instead of its nice ‘lady’ shoes. I like it.

As some reviewers pointed out, this is a more complicated perfume that it seems at the opening. It opens with a delicious vanilla note but as you start thinking this is it, it gradually evolves on your skin.
On my skin it develops to a smoky vanilla scent which is pretty nice and likable. I get a little earthiness (maybe vetiver?) and a kind of aromatic aspect as well.
Overall, I consider this a well made scent with good longevity and projection. 7 out of 10.

Tested dabbed. Starts off boozy and very smokey, warm and spiced. After about 3 or 4 hours the vanilla came out of hiding and the smoke left. Still boozy and spicey. Like, but only need a sample or a decant. In my opinion it is a winter scent, and calls for a certain occasion, not daily wear. It is an intellectual vanilla, not a gourmand.

Mona di Orio, a brilliant and much-missed perfumer. So many of us wonder what she might have come up with were she still around today. All of the creations that I’ve tried from this house (launched 2011 and before) strikes me with their originality and vision. Vanille, with its deceptively simple name, is very much in the same vein with the rest of her works. That is, it exudes an intelligence that renders the fragrance equally a piece of olfactory art as well as give it a subaltern sort of questioning identity which makes it weird and wonderful at the same time. Mona doesn’t do “nice” scents, she does intriguing, cerebral, vanguard perfumes without veering into “unwearable” territory like so many of her quirky contemporaries do.
Back to the perfume however, Vanille is a soothing, warming pas-de-deux featuring vanilla and cloves as the main players with an interesting corp of other notes. Very chiaroscuro again, very Mona. The darkness and spiciness of the cloves cuts through whatever lingering sweetness and innocence the natural vanilla has. This is not a white, sugary, sprinkles-and-frosting vanilla. It’s a dark smouldering vanilla with hints of smoke. It’s like sitting in the shadows of a gentlemen’s bar smoking clove cigarettes and drinking vanilla-laced rum. It is terribly terribly sexy in a slow-motion unhurried way. It’s incredible how this house continues to score with me again and again. Wonderful stuff!
For comparison, the cloves here remind me of Rania J’s Ambre Loup. If you like that enveloping boozy spiciness, Vanille has that to offer as well.

    Wonderful perfume.
It goes through different stages, all well balanced and “filled up” without being too much at any point. First boozy nutty spicy with traces of vanilla pod but it definitely doesn’t scream sweet vanilla at all. Then it transitions into a darker oriental before having a wonderful gourmand drydown by the 4th hour and it stays like that for ages. I find it rather complex for random use any day… it requires a bit of context… it is sophisticated and slightly baroque. Best for colder days.
I find most reviews here very helpful and thorough. I would just add that the quality of this niche offering is present during the whole development and most gourmands shall envy its drydown as many of them show wonderful skills the first hour but then their lack of horizon ends up making them boring/tiring, their initial bright colours washed out and some become even weird. This one unexpectedly (as the first stages are not gourmand at all) gives a masterclass in the matter.
Without a doubt a work of art, created following a personal agenda, not mass market.

Now THIS is what I expected “Spiriteuse Double Vanille” to smell like! The former left me disappointed, a syrupy sweet vanilla candle with no sensual allure.
Mona di Orio’s “Vanille” is rich, dark and captivating, not annoyingly sweet or girlish. This is a grown up, sexy vanilla for mature audiences only.
The texture is voluptuous and creamy, with cloves and rum absolute giving a slight sharpness that cuts through the density, providing balance. As it develops I get whisps of boozy vapour, like dried rum essence, enshrouded by black, smokey guaiac wood and buttery tolu balsam.
Despite these ultra-heavy notes, it remains well balanced and refined, never becoming cloying or over-whelming (this is testing from one spray, bear in mind). There is enough smoky, woodiness contrasting the sweetness of the vanilla that I feel a man could confidently wear this and not feel like a dessert.
When the cold winter months roll in I will be slipping this on with a very confident smile.

The scent of luxury trade routes of long ago and Mono di Orio’s seafaring captain! This is stunning! I’m amazed. They used pure vanilla – the most expensive fragrance ingredient due to the stupefying labor intensive methods needed to get the real thing. Everything you know as vanilla is most likely artificial. But this is REAL VANILLA! And, they put it in one of the most sensuous, romantic scents ever created. Inspired by the tale of nautical adventure on an old tall ship, laden with precious cargo. On its way from Madagascar, filled with rum, cloves, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, oranges, and a smoky gaiac wood that adds excitement to the mix. Ripe for attack by pirates . . . or perfumistas that long for a perfume that is rare and decadent in the best way.

One of the best Vanille dominant scents, this is a real deal
Very long lasting on skin and clothes, it sticks man, very manly i guess. i cannot imagine a woman wearing this scent, it smells like a vanilla cake as well but in a unique way, i’m in love with the scent, it’s very well blended, high quality indeed.

Vanille is the most versatile vanilla fragrance I own. It opens with a blast of the bitter orange that sticks around for quite a while on my skin making it a nice all year round fragrance for me. The name Vanille is not misleading since vanilla is a prominent note in the fragrance but it’s only one aspect of it. This fragrance has two main stages for me the first is with bitter orange, rum, cloves and leather (the new shoes leather smell) which might be confusing for some cause the vanilla is very faint at this point. This stage is about 4 hours on my skin. The second phase of this fragrance is where the vanilla takes charge embracing all the previously mentioned notes within it. The vanilla softens the leather and cloves and gives the bitter orange that orange creamsicle vibe the rum is almost gone at this point. This phase is lasts 6 hours before the fragrance fades. The image I get with this fragrance is a woman wearing her boyfriend’s leather jacket where his fragrance (the first stage) and hers (second stage) get mixed together creating Vanille.

With basic elements such as a “rose” or “jasmine” or whatnot, a perfumer has to come up with something “new”–and with vanilla, many people want it the same as a vanilla dessert, all goey goodness, when real vanilla bean does not smell like Body Shop floss–and the perfumer wants to create a “new vanilla.” That is the case here. It reminds me in some ways of the “not-so-vanilla” Aroma M. Geisha Vanilla Hinoki in that the latter is also not really a true, linear, homogeneous vanilla. Some of the notes are the same between the two, and some different, but the sense that the perfumer is creating a different angle on vanilla is present.
For those who want endless iterations of sweet, cuddly vanilla that makes one want to munch on sugar cookie, skip this. It’s a complex, twisting and turning scent, starting with its screeching citrus at the beginning, smoothing into booze and leather. While other aspects like clove are there, this becomes a boozy, sandalwood, spicy vanilla with a citrus sweetness–rather than creamy pudding. It is not a boring vanilla and I quite like the leather note, which I wish was stronger. I don’t love it, but it’s a definite try–far more sophisticated than most of the vanillas out there, which, while comforting, soothing, and gourmand–represent a limited imagination and a seeming fixation that many must have on smelling of childhood comfort foods..

I’m a hardcore vanilla lover,I also love vanilla with a spicy, boozy twist so this one seemed to be a non risky blindbuy for me.thanks God I purchased a 5ml decant first.mona di orio Vanille is one of the rare vanilla perfumes that I hate
As soon as I sprayed it I knew this one is not for me.there was something masculine going on here which make it one of rare vanilla fragrances that leans more towards masculinity so if you’re a man and you’re worried about this being too feminine or sweet, don’t be
I can detect rum and a touch of citrus but the most dominant notes to my nose besides vanilla which more looks like tonka are clove and incense.amber, woods and leather show up more in the drydown
As I mentioned before I like my vanilla with a spicy bite, even a hint of smokey undertone would be pleasant for me but there’s too much clove here.I’m shocked there’s no incense among notes because it remains well pronounced from the first sniff til the drydown.I don’t know what is responsible for this dirty, animalic feeling.honestly it makes me gag.how could they turn such a lovely, soft and delicious element like vanilla to this horrible dirty mish mash is beyond me but I’m glad I resisted my desire to wash it off and waited until drydown
I still dislike it but at least now I can see why some people may like it.it’s very complex and it may even smell sexy on some men(it’s not 100% masculine and is wearable by women too but it’s not a sexy vanilla scent for women IMHO)
There’s something powdery in drydown which I like.I also like the woods here.if there was less incense I’d even consider giving it other chances
I received two negative comments just by using one spray so I believe it has great Longevity and projection.my sister in law thought that I was testing lots of different perfumes at the same time.she told me “honey the mixture of perfumes you were trying today smells horrible and dirty.I think they don’t go well”and my neighbor told me”when I was a kid there was a woman who made herbal remedies for people and was also a fortune-teller.you smell like her room” I don’t choose my perfumes just for receiving complements but as all humans negative comments affect me so although I’m starting to like it’s drydown, this one is a NO,no for me
Gonna give my decant to my husband and I’m sure it would be better on him
P.s:If you like this one try queen latifah the yellow bottle. They’re not the same but they have a lot in common.clove is replaced by cinnamon and it’s less masculine, less complex, less dirty, less expensive and more likable and easier to wear..I suspect that if you layer two perfumes of Queen latifah the result would be even more like Mona di orio Vanille
    ❤❤

    Mona Di Orio Vanille.
The beautiful Mona Di Orio on the nose.
A smoky, semi-boozy take on vainilla with divine arrangement of earthy, spicy, florals followed by hints of citrus & a slight powdery feel that immortolizes Mona for ever. The delicate yet agressive nature of notes brings about a magical transformation. Lavish dreamy juice suited for colder nights were cozyness is the name of the game and sexiness it’s partner. This is quality perfume of the highest order. Everything inside mingles to perfection. Only Mona was capable of drawing this juxtaposition of a composition; I bow to Mona & take my hat off.
    10/10 in all fields.

Very nice “raw” vanilla, it’s not like a vanilla cake. When it dries, the smell is very similar to Eau Duelle by Diptyque, if you own that, no need to buy this and vice versa.

This has been on my to-buy list for quite a while and finally it’s here!
Vanille is not the typical gourmand that we usually associate with vanilla; here you’d smell different accords and the notes compliment each other.. It’s boozy, smoky and spicy! Perfectly blended but you’ll get to recognize the notes individually.. My first from the house of Mona di Orio and it did not disappoint!

As others have noted, this isn’t your typical gourmand vanilla. To me, it’s in a similar register as Diptyque’s Eau Lente in terms of sweetness, and fills a similar niche: spicy, incense vanillas that transition well from daytime to nighttime and won’t give you a toothache in the process. But while Eau Lente is all about cinnamon, Vanille’s spice focuses on cloves. Vanille isn’t as aggressively spiced as Kenzo’s L’Elephant (though lovers of L’Elephant who also love incense/gaiac will likely find something to enjoy here) but the clove is noticeably present, particularly for the first 10 minutes or so. The orange is subtle, which is probably for the best, since the combination with clove might otherwise have one thinking of clove-studded Christmas pomanders!
On my skin, the addition of rum is less about scent than about texture, giving the whole composition a warm, radiant quality. A small dab of Vanille on both wrists and you’ll imagine your skin is glowing and pulsing with the warmth – it’s lovely. Only later, when the tendrils of incense smoke from the gaiac wood creep in, does the fragrance dry out and settle into the skin. It’s this phase that reminds me, as other have mentioned, of the faintly sweet, dusty smell of old papers and mouldering leather-bound books.
I should note that I almost dismissed Vanille in the first few minutes after application as being something nice and compelling, but ultimately unoriginal. Obviously, I’ve revised my opinion since then, and it’s now become one of those rare perfumes for which I love every stage of its development equally – the hot breath of spices in the beginning; the rum-soaked, radiant heart; and the dry incense rustle of old papers at the end. I haven’t tried many scents from this house (although her Musc is another firm favorite), but based on this experience, I certainly will!

I love this scent, it’s a perfect replacement for my long lost love Organza Indecence! It has the same smoky/vanilla/spicy depth as Indecence, I’m happy to own samples of both these scents so I can compare. I’m not going to cry over Organza anymore!:D Not so bad at least;)
Although Mona di Orio has an awfully bitter and earthy opening, like an old bag covered with mud, it leaves a wonderful, long-lasting spicy-vanilla sensation (this is when the echo of Indecence comes to the surface) and this is where the party begins! Projection of this perfume is enormous (I used 3 tiny sprays and after 5 hours my perfume still filled the room – as my mom noticed, and she’s used to my strong perfumes).

I do not think the vanilla in this likes my skin. I think this has a “pickled” note as described in previous reviews. I think it is the rum. I’m not necessarily a fan of fragrances based on alcoholic drinks. I think it would be nice if this is your thing. I don’t find it overtly sweet. The longevity sucks, about 2 hours on me and sillage sucks just as much. I do not think it is worth the price and I have smelled better vanillas. Just my honest opinion.

In my research for a good, all-round vanilla, this came up as something to try.
On my skin, MdO Vanilla seems to epitomize all the notes I struggle with…. and then magnifies them. No vanilla just pungent, sharp sourness. I go straight to the balsam, sandalwood and vetiver, with nothing else in between to soften the blow.

I am not feeling the love for this one. The note I’m overwhelmed with is stale tobacco, which is a shame because it seems that this is a particularly high-quality vanilla. The main effect for me is the morning after sitting in a tiki bar, back in the day where people smoked in them, drinking many zombies while wearing too much Shalimar. Pass.

I think this one leans more masculine than feminine, but I could be a little biased as I trend towards a floral and oriental vanilla. The main notes I get in this one are the rum and spices, tons of clove, and there’s a tobacco note in there as well. I imagine all those ingredients dropped into a glass of rum and swirled together.
It sort of reminds me of a much softer and lighter Tobacco Vanille, along those lines anyway. I get more vanilla in TV than in this one. It’s a nice concoction, but I’m looking for something with a cozier vanilla.

This was my first scent I tried by Mona di Orio and frankly speaking I was amazed. This is a different, very sensual and exotic vanilla.
From the beginning, it’s clear that the perfume is very well made. It opens with notes of clove and leather, almost rubbery accord. Then vanilla comes up, first it’s bitter and smoky but after 1 hour my skin sweetens it and I get dark, spicy vanilla liquor.
I know, it’s not supposed to be a gourmand scent, however my skin tends to emphasize sweetness in perfumes.
It creates such a nice, cozy cloud around you for quite long time, on me 6-8 hours. This is my favorite vanilla by now.

I thank Luca Turin for introducing me to Mona di Orio Vanille. From reading on so many blogs about how unfairly cruel he was to her work, I decided to go to surrender to chance and buy a bunch of her samples to decide for myself. While I didn’t love all of them, some of them were quite good, and I fell head over heels for Vanille.
If you like your vanilla dark and boozy and smokey you need this. I have tried a lot of vanilla perfumes out there and this one takes the cake- to another level. Imagine Betty Crocker, drunk, smoking a clove cigarette and baking your birthday cake. Brilliant. Thank you Luca, I just bought a bottle. 🙂

MdO Vanille brings to me a wonderful childhood memory. Opening my mom’s spice cabinet and pulling out her jar of vanilla pods, twisting off the lid, and ummmm! Yes, I’m surrounded by a dark and somewhat powdery vanilla. But the wood cabinet itself, along with the ghosts of spices used (and maybe a bit dropped onto the shelves) with love.
Vanille is smokey and chic. Exotic and yet comforting. This is a most interesting blend. It is potent and long-lasting.
This vintage chypre-loving gal has found another Vanilla to adore. A big and reverant nod to Guerlain Shalimar (my other vanilla-heavy love).

I really like this! I run away when I sense sweet, gourmand vanilla, but this is something entirely different. This vanilla is bone dry, but it is still a very beautiful vanilla. It is surrounded by spices, probably cloves and cinnamon and a little bit of fruit. But vanilla itself is the star.
It is certainly among my top five masculine/unisex orientals. Good silage and longevity as well.

I think I would have named this “Vanille Brûlant” because Vanille opens like burning vanilla, because of the orange, clove, and rum notes. And although I’m not a big fan of sweet vanilla, the burning vanilla is interesting. Nothing cheap or candy-ish about it, more like a very warm, heavy cream. I wore it yesterday, a humid, rainy day, and Vanille seems better today, now that it’s cold outside. Having said all this, Vanille isn’t for me. I actually find it too sexual. (There, I’ve said it!) However, this would make a very nice honeymoon gift for some couple.
NOTE: If you like this type of vanilla (unsweetened, like vanilla bean), Dark Kiss from Bath & Body Works might work as a much cheaper alternative that features blackberry and amber. Of course, I realize B&BW can’t compare to the house of Mona di Orio, but that dry vanilla is so similar that I had to mention it.

This fragrance has been a surprise for me.
I was expecting a classic gourmand vanilla sugar and I find this wonder:
Vanilla, rum and cloves in a spectacular and fascinating rubbery guaiac wood drying.
I see clearly what Mona wanted to represent with this fragrance: the ship laden with riches as timber, fruits, rum, spices and vanilla.
Mona notable for the minimal retro air too deeply rustic and simple and unpretentious.
Excellent quality essences, of which I miss and you’re glad when you apply a few drops of this wonderful, huge wake duration and radiating better than usual average.
Details such as the excellent quality of the essences with a very good composition, is where large olfactory differences between mainstream brands and some designers niche as Mona are marked.
Amazing, ahead of our time, one day, Mona di Orio will be considered as one of the best perfumers of this century as works like this, Vetiver and Musk.
    I loved it!!

Well with my dear friend kain perfect review I cant add anything new with my brief review 😀 But:
Vanilla is red line in my taste, and I usually cant bear those perfumes, so I didn’t tend to test this frag.
But when I sniff this masterpiece I just say wow!!
This is romantic and exotic perfume with sweet, boozy, woody, smoky notes in vanilla base.
We don’t have over sweet vanilla scent (Normally what vanilla smell) in here , we have soft and lovely vanilla scent that is not strong and overpower but you can smell it in all over of perfume lifetime on your skin.
This perfume start with semi fresh citrus scent with sweet and boozy theme that cover with some flowery note.
After that woody notes start to play their role to balance this perfume in middle note.
And in the heart smoky scent of leather come to complete this wonderful play.
I really love this perfume and enjoy from each sniff of this beauty.
Strong power of projection and longevity.

WOW! I love this as much as my Amouage FATE and that is saying something. I’m going to have to have joint number one favourites now.
On me the citrus, vanilla and spices are definitely dominant with the wood, vetiver and alcohol notes more in the background. It is sweet but not quite enough to be gourmand. Its a truly grown up and sophisticated spicey vanilla. Most definitely unisex.
Above average sillage and easily lasts all day. I will have to save up for this one, but it is so worth it. This decant is going to have to last a long time!

Totally agree with the ashtray part. However, the vanilla hasn’t come out yet. Smells like terribly bitter Cointreau mixed with something woody. Definitely not for me.

The opening smells exactly like a dirty ashtray on me…. Exactly. While repulsive, it is at the same time addictive. The ashtray vibe dies pretty quickly and fades to a decent smoky vanilla, but for all the hype this gets I’m not impressed. For a similar vibe, I like Annayake Miyako or Parfumerie Generale’s Felanilla waaaay better. I’ll try it again to see if my opinion changes, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be shelling out the cash for a full bottle of this.

This is in my opinion the best from the house of MdO. This fragrance starts off with a blast of spicy and woody notes paired with “burning” bitter oranges in which I detect a lot of petitgrain. At this point there isn’t even the slightest hint of vanilla. As time paces the most authentic vanilla-pod note can be smelled. This isn’t your typical vanilla ice-cream sweet vanilla note but rather a dusty boozy one. This fragrance is best for cool summer nights and the beginning of autumn. This is a masterfully balanced , complex , high quality scent.
Truly unique, get your nose on this ASAP 🙂

Vanille is a strange one and I admit I’m struggling to see what this has to do with vanilla. Most of what I get is an intense, burning clove note on a boozy background with slight animalic accents.
Smelling this reminded me of a childhood memory of being in a bowling alley. My friend’s mother smoked clove cigarettes and the hot, smokey, spicy smell of them melded with the smell of the bowling alley itself: ashtrays, spilled booze, polished wood, creeping decay and the occasional whiff of human sweat.
Not my favorite, BUT Vanille is strangely noir and intriguing in a Bukowski-esque way. Its like the smell of forgotten minor indulgences.

A friend of mined warned me not to buy this perfume for summer, because – as she claimed – I would smell to intrusive. I totally disagree. I love to wear it during a hot weather. It is in fact very strong, but not at all intrusive. It is noticable and I heard many compliments both from woman and man.
On my skin it is mainly bitter vanilla, rum and bitter orange. I love how it smells on me. However a friend of mine tested it and it smelled sweeter and more woody on her. It is worth testing it before buying.
I like strong and noticable scents and I’m very satisfied with its longeivity and sillage.
At the moment Mona di Orio is my favorite niche brand. I love all her scents: vanille, tubereuse, musc and amer are my favorites.

This was love at first sniff which soon turned to dislike the more and more I wore it. The dry-down is fantastic. The vanilla is rich, and strikes the perfect balance between bitter and dry and sweet and warm. I love the way my shirt would smell a couple days after wearing this, a vague spiciness over the most delicious, quality vanilla. However, getting to the dry-down became a chore. The combination of rum and clove doesn’t work very well for me. Add petitgrain and orange blossom into that and I was destined to sell this bottle off in an attempt to recoup part of the significant amount I spent on it. But I’m not mad, as this is a good fragrance. I just find the clove, rum, and orange blossom too heavy and distracting a combination, and after a while, it wears me out. I would probably prefer a simpler or less taxing start. Overall, Di Orio’s Vanille is
