The more empty my bottle of this gets, the more I know how much ill miss it. I really wish Molinard would take this back or make a new version of the salty/herbal/vanilla/marine combo. Its genius!
The longevity & projection on me is insane. I smell it after more than 10 hours on my skin and always get compliments when I wear it – even though I have a bottle that’s many years old.

I quite like this, though we’ll see how longevity goes. I had to spray quite a bit mroe than I’m used to, it’s not powerful stuff.
So far it’s salty vanilla caramel. The salt/marine note keeps it from being overly sweet but it’s still clearly a sweet scent. I like it, but do I like it enough for a full bottle? Probably not, I’d prefer something with a little more interest honestly.

This is such a unique fragrance. I am typically not a fan of vanilla OR marine/sea notes, so you can imagine what I thought when trying something called “Vanille Marine”–“no” and “no”! But I keep sniffing my arm. The blend actually tones down the sickly sweet that I often dislike with vanilla scents and provides warmth and depth to the marine note. Others have said it’s like having a sweet treat at the beach. I would name this one Cake By The Ocean.

My first Molinard EDT. At first spray on skin, a musky and dry vanilla, almost toasted. On me this is very dry warm vanilla. It is not candy sweet, just a hint of sweet. Musky vanilla extract with a bit of resin or is it dry driftwood? I get no salty air, not a bit of marine anything. A lovely warm skin scent. As a previous reviewer said, this would be a great layering scent. Enjoying this fragrance very much.

I was skeptical when I first read about this fragrance because I didn’t want something that came off too feminine but the sea notes make the scent more masculine and blend really well with the vanilla. What is great about this fragrance is that you can get away with wearing it all year round, and at any time of the day!

I just recieved this, and even though its not exactly as i imagened, its still very much to my liking.
The inital 5-10 minutes blast is my favourite. Its a salty fresh wind bringing fresh sage, green moss and a very fresh discrete vanilla. It makes me think of summer in south France. I guess it is this part that seem to be very unisex to people.
Quite soon, and a little to fast for me, the warm salty herbal blast settles down & Im left with a slightly green, slightly salty creamy vanilla, that lingers for a long time. Its very sweet and pleasant, and quite fresh, but I have to admit I miss the initial herbal-sage-kiss a little. I really get the combo of “marine” and “vanille” – its clever, and a new take on vanilla that I truly appreciate.
In a sense I kinda like the change from Outdoors ocean freshness, to Creamy vanilla, its gives this perfume the sneaky unisex feeling that I love. I just wish the two bouquets had stayed hugging for longer. Together they are just a beautiful couple.

This is delicious! It really is like ice cream by the ocean. It has a salty aquatic, note in the beginning and middle. It comes off a touch masculine, but only in the beginning. The drydown is a rich, warm, thick, creamy vanilla and caramel.

I use this fantastic website to search notes, and read about perfumes with my fave notes. I love sweet gourmands, spicy vanillas, etc… Caramel is one of those notes I live for.
I blind bought this cheaply on ebay, but the salty sea notes kind of scared me.
I love this! OMG! It’s like an nutty caramel/vanilla cookie by the sea! Or the sea-like notes come off as fresh laundry- which sounds weird, but they actually don’t blend together- it’s more like two smells at once. And I actually like it.
It has a nice lasting softness, but sillage and longevity are barely average. It is an EDT, and I got a 3.4 oz for $17 or so, so I will wear the heck out of this, but probably wouldn’t re-buy.
I’m tempted to try the Vanille regular.

Based on other positive reviews here, I ordered this perfume. I just received it the other day & when I sprayed it on my wrists, first was the marine scent and as it dried, the marine scent seemed to disappear and I smelled the vanilla fragrance. As time went on I smelled vanilla with caramel & decided I might like it after all. When I went to the doctor’s office a woman behind the desk said “I smell cookies, I don’t know where it’s coming from.” I said it might be my perfume, she said “I really like it!” So now I know even after a few hours after spraying it behind my ears & on my wrists, others can smell it.

This is Vanille Marine, so it is supposed to be sweet and salty at the same time which it is! Very original smelling and is pleasant enough for the colder season. I love the salty water notes mixed with the vanilla and caramel as well as the amber, but I am not quite sure about the floral notes as I think these could make it a bit dirty smelling with the other gourmand notes. On me they barely surface which is a good thing.
Not a generic scent at all, projection is good but cannot yet comment on longevity as I have just tried it today, but I guess it will last well because it is not like these scents with lots of alcohol that evaporates in minutes. This is rather rich and dense.

People always say this is like a salted caramel.
ok. I get why it is described as such.
However to me its not salty.
It is watery/fresh/aquatic a bit of fresh sage growing by the lake side and strong vanilla.
It opens up like this.. vanilla with a sort of ocean/lake/watery accord. it is more of a vanilla ice cream cone with ribbons of caramel throughout it….while walking on the boardwalk near the ocean/seaside/lake — that finally ends up being just caramel sauce was poured on your skin and that part lasts for hours and hours.
Vanilla gets stronger as it wears. After a while the vanilla takes over the ocean watery like notes and get stronger every moment you wear it…turning into straight up caramel.
I think I just said that twice. ha! ok redundant I know, but this vanilla is worth checking out. It works well for summer, and is unique. It layers nicely with a lot of other scents as well.

Vanilla has been done to death and after the arrival of cupcake type scents one might be forgiven for thinking that somehow all roads lead to the kitchen cupboard where you left the bottle of vanilla essence open. There was also the omnipresent “sugar” note (ethylsomething) that I ended up confusing with vanilla. It seemed I was done and over with. Thankfully vanilla can be done differently after all. Vanille Marine is very deceptive when you first spray it on, in fact the first 10 minutes there is a strange “Lys Soleia” vibe about it which obviously cannot be expected from any of those notes. So there is a fleeting resemblence of something lilly and perhaps ylang ylang but no worries it disappears quickly and Vanille Marine settles into its true self. It is hard to imagine a non-sweet vanilla and this scent does not aim to be, however its sweetness is not that of icecream or icing sugar. Rather the carrier seems to be a buttery salty caramel dessert. Whereas I am almost anosmic to caramel in other fragrances (e.g. Prada Candy)I can feel its lasting presence here. This is a grown up vanilla interesting enough to wear on its own yet simple enough for layering too. I bet this smells fantastic on a man, too.

If like me you don’t care much for vanilla, and think you can only enjoy it as a note among others
( after all, it is one of the most ubiquitous fragrance ingredients..), the chances are that you will be in two minds about Vanille Marine.
On the one hand, my nose not having had enough opportunities to get acquainted with vanilla centred scents, it is not able to detect whatever subtle nuances they might have. Which I have no doubt is the reason why VM smells like a straightforward “solinote” vanilla to me, albeit a beautiful one.
If I try hard, I do get a slight caramel-y and salty vibe, but nothing else. And I did expect the fragrance to have more of a fresh and herbal twist.
On the other hand, VM is ideal for trying to make friends with vanilla, since it does not have the cloying, synthetic and even tacky/cheap character vanilla happens to have sometimes. I think I can promise you no one will make jokes about you saving on fragrance by using car air freshener instead….
I have been wearing it for about a week now, and indeed I am beginning to see the light, I mean I used to not get the ”hype” over vanilla, now I realise what a pleasant, versatile, warm and yet refined scent it can be.
Given that it is fairly linear and one dimensional, It lends itself very well to layering. I actually managed to give a good boost to the marine notes by combining it with Vents Et Marées (also by Molinard), but I can imagine many more associations.
Its projection and lasting power are very good on me, and coming from someone who keeps having issues with both, particularly during the colder months, it says a lot !

Oh, this one is really nice. I do love the hint of saltiness that you can smell in the beginning though it doesn’t last long for me (20-30 mins). It is a sweet vanilla almost caramel scent. *sniffs again* And also marshmallows but I don’t find it cloying. It is not an overwhelming scent though I think it has good sillage and longevity. I got it for about $20 bucks on Amazon and it smells like it costs a lot more.
This will probably make a great layering perfume. I’ve tried it with Forever Elizabeth which has an apple note and it was lovely.

Just arrived today together with my other purchase, another bottle of Oxygene by Lanvin. I’ve really been looking forward to this delivery as I’ve never tried a Molinard fragrance before. I’m totally taken with the concept of an old fragrance house that’s under the radar of Joe Public. So immediately ripped open the parcel and sprayed the back of each hand. Happy the Lanvin after an initial whiff of hairspray settled down to the usual juice. But the Vanille Marine..the initial spritz, everything I’d hoped for, a blast of sea spray and ozone combined with a delicious vanilla. Great. Unfortunately the saltiness doesn’t last and you’re left with a slightly overly sweet creamy caramel, possibly chocolatey, vanilla. Very gourmand, but very simple and young. I don’t get the herbals at all. So I’m off to bed smelling like a toffee. Not giving up on this yet though. AND despite the bottle being very unphotogenic, in real life its gorgeous and I predict a collection in the making..because yeah, I can afford it!!

I loved and wore Angel for years and I love A*Men on men. This came as a full beautiful bottle from a swap.
At first when I spritzed it on my pulse points, I could smell nothing but alcohol. no fragrance, just pure alcohol … then it developed about 5 minutes later. It is powerful … great sillage …
Unfortunately it smells off on me… No eating salty caramel ice cream on the beach for me … It definitely smells of vanilla but with something off that disturbs me highly … Nothing sweet like Fancy that smells yummy on me …

Oddly refreshing, this is my 2nd time wearing vanille marine today. Today was a very stormy day in early september, the clouds were charcoal and it rained so much the streets flooded. Somehow the perfume captures perfectly with the mood, I don’t think of ocean spray or beaches when I smell vanille marine.
The herbal component in here makes the watery element in here a little earthy and dirty to me, reminding me of the way the earth smells not after the rain, but during the downpour. Grey streets with gritty rain water, water dripping from leaves, It is fresh and ozonic in a way.
The vanilla & salted caramel component is warm and light leaving me craving for more. The way I hug a blanket to keep warm.
The balance is very even and the fragrance is very original.

Really funny to smell it straight from the bottle – vanilla and salty fish.
But on the skin it’s unbelievable good. Vanilla, boozy, creamy and bright (similar to the one in Le Couvent des Minimes – Cologne of the Missions) swirled with smoky caramel and a pinch of fresh, salty herbs.
A gourmand with a twist. Like one member said, it’s like eating a vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce topping on the beach <3.
After some time it gets nuttier and drier, reminding me on neapolitan wafers with hazelnut filling. Niche quality with an unbeatable price.

Update: Yesterday BF picked me up to go to the post office and I just applied Vanille Marine few seconds before I went. “What’s that terrible smell? Uggghh, it smells like fish food, what are you wearing!?!” I laughed so hard! But I promised to him it’s just the “opening” of a beautiful scent. He insisted that it smells terrible, but after we went back to home, he stopped to comment – which I assume was the sign, that the smell turned pleasant or at least bearable to him. I personally agree it can be a little polarizing in the first few minutes, but after that it’s just wonderful.
The second funny thing that happened was that on one day a bee had an ambush attack on me. I runned down the street for a quite a while. Slowed down and looked back. It was still there! Started to run again and again and it didn’t stopped until a few runs. The bee was probably just trying to find out what this pleasant smell was, but to me the situation was a little scary, but at the same time also very funny and entertaining, haha.

A very pleasant vanilla perfume. I do not like very sweet perfumes but I do feel that this one will be a favourite in the colder months ahead. I get very little marine or salty notes in this one and I am a little sad as I was really hoping that it would be more pronounced. It is a very warm, humid day here so maybe I should leave this until the weather gets cooler. I did buy it with colder winter months in mind. Sillage and longevity are reasonably moderate on me. About 5 hours longevity and arms length for projection. A nice yummy caramel vanilla that is not screechy like many other cheaper vanilla perfumes. One I will wear with cuddly winter sweaters in the months to come.

I may be reviewing this prematurely as I’ve only worn it for one full day. I am just too excited about it to not share. I got a sample of this, (and many other vanilla scents) from the very kind fragrantican Linzyb. Based on the notes, I would not have guessed that I’d like this. I have a hard time with vanillas, and the words sweet and caramel would have put me off. This has sweetness, but it’s not at all cloying or overwhelming. It’s light and fresh, and that salt note is incredible. It pushes this from pleasant to absolutely fantastic. It is, as I’ve read, like vanilla ice cream on the beach. I didn’t think I’d want to smell like that, but it’s so much better than I could have hoped. Wonderful.

I got a decant of this. It’s still a gourmand, foody and sweet vanilla but with a salty, woody tang. I appreciate the layer of salty sea air note on the perfume. As time goes by the perfume still retains its gourmand sweetness but the ‘salt’ note is gone after half an hour. I wore this at 8am and can still smell it at 5 pm after work. Impressive longevity for an EDT. However I only apply this lightly as it is far too sweet for my liking if applied too much…I can taste sugar on my teeth! One or two sprays are enough to last all day prior to a shower. Now that I think of it, it smells a lot like vanilla essence my mother used to put in cake batters,which is a good thing but can be annoying if I were to smell it constantly instead of in ‘wafts’.

First of all, I bought this blindly, an impulse buy no less. FragranceNet had a tester for around $20.
Much less synthetic than Fancy. Where Fancy has notes of syrupy chemical caramel, Vanille Marine is like a spicy blast of summery air near the beach. It’s unisex and yet so SEXY on me. The initial spray smells suspiciously like patchoulli but quickly becomes this kitchen/bakery type of smell, fresh and spicy without choking you or others around you.
To paint a picture here: REAL vanilla ice cream with caramel syrup, to be enjoyed sitting outside in the shade on a summer day, near the ocean, inhaling the fragrant foliage haphazardly carried to you by a salty breeze.

Received this in a swap. Its such a nice warm vanilla. I do not get any resemblance to Fancy as mentioned in some posts. I find Fancy to be much more heady and more caramel on my skin anyways. Nor do I get any sea notes.. Love this vanilla as it is different than any other I own, more of a raw one than the ol “vanilla fields” type.

Molinard’s Vanille Marine is like a sweet n’salty caramel sauce with a twist. Despite the prominent caramel factor this is not cloying at all but rather airy I feel, stemming from the sea notes I presume.
This is what I wished Prada Candy to be. I had to swap that one away because it dissapointed my nose utterly. So I’m very happy that a kind fragrantica friend pointed me in the direction of Vanille Marine as I feel it has hit my caramel spot to near perfection. I’m also loving that this is a unisex frag. I would love to smell this on man!

In theory it’s fantastic and has everything I could be looking for a in a fragrance, but in the end it’s not for me, at all.
I wish I could love it but no, it’s so cloying. I mean, I detect the seasalt note and the Mediterranean herbs but the vanilla is really heavy, it’s choking.
It’s not warm enough to be a winter fragrance, it’s not fresh and marine enough to be right for hot summer days, so I’m afraid I’ll never be able to wear it, what a pity.

Wow, this is delicious. From the bottle I smelled nothing but toasted marshmallows, and worried that this would prove to be far too sweet for me to enjoy. Oh, no. On my skin it resolves into delicious, sweet, creamy caramels with a touch of the torched sugar you get on top of your creme brûlée. The tiniest hint of salt and the tiniest hint of something bitter (perhaps the sage or the oakmoss?). The perfect winter fragrance for any gourmand lover, or anyone who loves caramel. Sweet but grown up and delicious.

Delicious caramel and vanilla, sweet without being overwhelming. The salty ocean and the herbs — juniper especially — keep it from being too sweet and account for the marine accord. It starts out herbal sweet then builds to delectable caramel and vanilla, but it’s never going to be a scent that seems too sweet. You can wear it in summer, you can wear it to work. It’s never out of place. Reminds me of a late summer fair!

This REALLY works for me. Dear god, vanilla plus salty caramels plus herbs. Great! It is a sillage bomb and I smell like a grown up sweet dish (because of the herbs). Yum yum. It’s not the most complex or refined perfumes out there, but it is so good on my skin (my skin usually amplifies herby-spicy-incense notes and sublifies sweet notes).

It wasn’t ‘love at first whiff’ love but it was love nevertheless. It was a slow, smoldering, I-can’t-get-that-scent-out-of-my-head love. That is how Vanille Marine got to be placed in my signature slot, though I do not have a signature scent, per se. Grabbing it after a shower became a compulsory act to which I had to submit.
It is sweet but not foodie-sweet, and it is aquatic but not in the typical Cool Water-esque way. There is an essence bottled here that reminds me of summers spent on the Santa Monica pier: the salty air, the warmed skin, the sugared confections and the wood of the pier. I know, it seems like the scent is juvenile and unrefined the way I have described it but it is actually refined and sophisticated. It’s a fun scent that I did not want to love but, alas, I had to.
The sillage and projection are surprisingly hushed considering the notes listed, but the longevity is decently long-lasting. There is a niche-like ingenuity at play in the composition, contrary to what the price tag would suggest. It is great alone or layered with other scents to give them a beachy edge and a vanillic base. It’s versatile—it can be worn at work, casually around the house, or on a date night out. It does not care if you are male or female, or whether you are young or old. It’s just plain awesome. Yes, I said it: awesome.

WOW! I just got this in the mail today and tried it immediately. I have to say that I simply LOVE it! It is a very full-bodied rich vanilla without any candy sweetness, but I do not smell any incense, as others do ( I am happy about that). The marine note is very prevalent to my nose, as well. My best comparison would be if you mixed two kinds of Comptoir Sud Pacifique fragrances together…2/3 of Vanille Passion and 1/3 of Aqua Motu. Highly recommended, especially for the $22 I paid on ebay for a full size tester!
Edit: My 17 year old daughter said I “smelled like Dad mixed with vanilla”. He wears Clean Perfume Cotton T-Shirt, so for men that also like vanilla this would be a great scent for them!

It is a really lovely and well blended vanilla fragrance. Sweet, soft, light in the air, understated earthy elements, casual elegance, and slight caramelly warmth. I don’t get any aquatic notes. I didn’t realize it until a stranger mentioned it when I was wearing this, but Vanille Marine kind of smells like incense. In fact, it smells like sweet vanilla bean mixed with a Nag Champa incense stick. Not in a smoky way, it just bears a resemblance to the soft sweet earthy essence of Nag Champa. It has a sort of hazy and sensual vanilla quality. Even in the absence of a patchouli note, I still somewhat get a “hippie” vibe from this. Nonetheless, I am really really enjoying this scent. However now it is difficult to find anything “marine” about it, when I keep associating it with Nag Champa! Oh well. I have the feeling I’ll be wearing it frequently this summer. It needs to be reapplied to last through a day. But others definitely smell it, so it has good projection.
Solid A for this vanilla.

Mmm, mm, mmmm! Vanille Marine is my very first Molinard, and it has completely met my expectations. It’s a perfume dream for me, two things I love mixed up in ONE bottle–vanilla and men’s cologne. It’s a gourmand, aromatic fougere. Such a bizarre concept, but so beautifully executed.
It reminds me of vanilla saltwater taffy and these delectable rosemary caramels from a local chocolatier. My mouth waters with the thought of them. There is an aquatic note that adds a realistic saltiness, like when you come out of the ocean and the extra-fine sea salt dries on your skin.
Despite its gourmand tendency, the fougere part makes it hard for me to think of Vanille Marine as a gourmand. I like how it makes me “think of” saltwater taffy and caramels, but it doesn’t make me literally smell like them.
This perfume is a solid winner in my book!

I love it. I use it often. There’s something real nice in it, not sure if it’s the juniper or the sage, but it does remind me of the Mediterranean beaches of my childhood. Nicely priced too.

What a wonderful vanilla scent! The best way to describe it is fresh aquatic vanilla. A wonderful combination of vanilla, caramel and white flowers. I think it’s the lily of the valley and juniper that add some freshness to it. Just like other Molinards, very natural smelling and clear scent. Lovely!

Hmmm…I’m actually wearing Molinard VENTS ET MAREES, but it’s not in the database, so I’ll store this review here pour le moment, since my skimpy .7ml sample is about to evaporate away…
VENTS ET MAREES is basically a Victoria’s Secret clone, although I suspect that the order of explanation may be reversed. In any event, this is another friendly fruity floral featuring grapefruit this time, instead of red berries.
I’m trying to rack my brain to recall which Victoria’s Secret this smells so much like. It could be one of the Very Sexy frags, or perhaps SUPERMODEL? Hmmm… Either way, nothing to write home about. Pleasant and light.
I should add that the alcohol wafting off the top of some of these Molinards makes me think of BBW body sprays, so perhaps these are quite a bit lighter than your average edt, and the dilution may help to explain the bargain basement price: 30euros for 100ml??? This would definitely be a much better composition reduced to half that volume with the same amount of essences.
