I think this is great. It’s one of my go-to daily wears that I do genuinely enjoy the scent of. Like everyone, I am particular in my own way and I just like this. I’m glad to have something inexpensive to spray as often as I like, especially when I’m in a hurry and not going out of my way for something to match my mood and clothing.
I always get orange/citrus on the opening, which is part of my reason for liking it so much. I don’t see it in the notes, so I wasn’t sure, but then scrolling the reviews I see it mentioned a couple of times, so not just me. It is a fizzy, effervescent orange to me and if it wasn’t there I probably wouldn’t wear it so often. I like the sandalwood. I don’t find the scent overly sweet or gourmand like some do. It’s just good.

Woody, semi-sweet vanilla with a touch of powderiness in the background. I love it because it’s so hard to find a refined vanilla fragrance that doesn’t smell like a baking feast!!

I absolutely love this. I just got the perfume oil and wearing the two (spray and perfume oil) together makes me feel almost high. I agree with the person who said this is more a gourmand than an oriental…and that is fine with me. I bought the spray first and thought I’d just use it once in a while for nostalgia’s sake but find myself reaching for it quite often. It’s simple…musk and vanilla. And it makes me feel incredibly happy. Just delicious. And so long-lasting!

I am having a musk obsession. Bottles keep arriving. Luckily, this end of the fragrance spectrum is very affordable.
I smelled this in a store and was glad I did not buy it. It smells like you left a cupcake in the cedar chest. Would work on a child, I guess.

They don’t make drugstore fragrances like this anymore! Coty Vanilla Musk (1994) rode the 1990s wave of realistic vanillas but while I disliked many of them (too cloying, too sweet) I absolutely LOVED Vanilla Musk and I still do!
Vanilla Musk begins with a burst of bergamot & orange, transitions quickly to a fluffy but not excessively foody vanilla, and then develops a sexy sandalwood-cedar-skin musk undertone. That’s the point you say to yourself, “aha! This is a musk and not just a vanilla.” I happen to love most musks (my faves are Jovan & Auric Blends) so this is right up my alley. The musk in Vanilla Musk is clean and warm, without any animalic skank.
In the end, Vanilla Musk smells relatively uncomplicated, but not at all “cheap.” Huggable, cozy, and understated. However it is nonetheless quite strong, so don’t spray with abandon!
One of the best Coty scents ever.

I bought a coty set of several scents, for cheap, and this was one of them.
I am reviewing each as I experience them over time.
This is a fairly, if not totally, linear scent. The description states oriental…but I agree with another poster, this really should be a gourmand.
It is VANILLA! any other notes are barely perceptible. That said, though i am wary of vanillas because they can be sickly cloying, this one is not bad. Esp if you can get it at a great price, which is likely. It will perform better in the cooler months I think.Longevity is quite good, at 6 hrs or so.
It is similar to Casmir. Though I think Casmir is far superior, more complex, less linear, just delicious…and it is higher priced.
Seems that both were created the same year, in the days when vanilla was all the rage. So very on trend for it’s day.
A very nice drugstore scent, at a very nice price.

I prefer this one over Vanilla Fields. With that said, I’m still not a fan. It still has the same cloying, marshmallowy sweetness as in VF that won’t mellow out until the scent has almost completely faded, and I’m left with nothing but pencil shavings. I had purchased this one in hopes that the above was somehow contributed by the additional fruits and florals notes present in VF. To my dismay, it was the vanilla itself.
It’s not bad fragrance, especially considering the price, however, after trying both VM and VF, I think just I prefer a different ‘type’ of vanilla, and one without without cedar. Without the extra notes that were present in VF, the cedar is much sharper and prominent here In this case, I feel like it was a desparate attempt to balance out the overbearing sweetness of vanilla. It just seemed out of place.
    Update:
I still find this quite unbearable on its own, but I believe layering it with a musky and/or floral scent cuts back some of the sweetness and rounds out the sharp spicy cedar. I’m currently layering it with musk and rose, and find I like it a bit more, but I’ve decided this just isn’t for me.

    I love this.
My mum used to wear it when I was little & it brings back lovely memories.
It is warm & cozy like laying in a pile of clean, warm clothes out of the dryer on a cold winter day.
I have not yet seen it in shops but I endeavour to search for it online 🙂

Underrated drugstore gem. Cozy in winter and great for layering

Vanilla Earl Grey tea, right out of the tin or box! I had to triple check that there wasn’t bergamot listed, but I suppose this particular cedar-sandalwood-musk accord mimics bergamot and black tea to my nose/on my skin.
Soft, embracing, just sweet enough. A total comfort scent for me.
Lasts much longer than the price would imply.

Warm, cozy, crisp, and rich. Perfect all-day cold-weather scent.

Maybe it was my impression of it, but the vanilla in this smelled similar to Dior Addict. A super-similar, “marshmallow-y” vanilla. Underwhelming for me of course when comparing both this and Addict, as I had wanted something deeper out of both. But this scent is pleasant nonetheless. The sweetness can get overbearing in the beginning, yet it is still plush and pretty with the tiniest hint of green/fresh-spicy before it fades into full vanilla marshmallows. More girlish than I expected. Innocent. I also used this last winter, so it is becoming a cold weather scent for me.
If there was a middle ground between this and Vanille Insensee, that would be a perfect vanilla for me…

I haven’t a clue why I opted to buy this. To my credit, I did pause and think. But this is Coty who brought us Emeraude, l’Origan, Muguet des Bois . . .how bad could it be? At first sniff, there was a shadow of a memory and I knew the reason for my hesitation. I don’t know where or when but I had given it a pass before.
That initial assault of vanilla is what did it. To my nose there is no musk, no sandalwood. I may as well have opened a bottle of McCormick vanilla.
And I don’t care for the smell of vanilla. And it never mellows to musk, sandalwood or anything else. It continues to smell like cake batter . . . or a cheap candle.
Still, I’m Czech hence genetically thrifty. So, I’ll see if I can use it up by layering it. I have nothing to lose. The 9 bucks purchase price is already gone.

  16. :

    4 out of 5

Linear, but that’s to be expected. It says Vanilla Musk on the bottle, and that’s pretty much what you’re getting from top to bottom. There’s also some unobtrusive sandalwood.
It’s not complex, or dynamic, or challenging. It’s comfortable and predictable and that reliability is its charm.

  17. :

    4 out of 5

Soft, warm, lightly sweet … almost virginal in its welcoming and inviting innocence.
Yes. The bottle and packaging reflect Vanilla Musk’s humble lot. That’s all right. The quality went into the juice. It is a great little stocking stuffer for any lady in your life, unless you know they don’t like musk in any form.
I use this myself for a quick hit of aromatherapy every now and then while winding down. It rocks at that too.
Coty gets a ’10’ in my book with this one. Unbeatable versatility, appeal, and quality for the price.

I forgot how good this is. Had a quick spray at the store tonight and had to buy it. I cannot believe how long this lasts. Great vanilla scent with no sugar that packs a punch. Can’t wait to try this layering.

This is one of my all time favorite scents. I am 34 years old and have been wearing it since my teenage years. I believe it was my first ever real perfume given to me at Christmas by my grandmother. The scent is so simple and without all the notes most modern perfumes have. You get a straight up sweet creamy vanilla with a strong sandalwood, musk undertone. For me, it lasts all day and the longer it sits the better it smells. I have gotten so many compliments from people over the years wearing this and they are shocked to find out it is a cheap ten dollar cologne spray. I own much more expensive perfumes but this one is a classic.

I originally went to pick up Vanilla Fields (a favorite from when I was 15)! Upon seeing this I spritzed this on one arm and VF on the other. This won for me! Both are beautiful, but this is more “me”.
VM is a very beautiful woody, musky vanilla. This feels like a warm blanket after a relaxing shower. I feel warm and nice when I wear it. I’m reaching for it a lot as a comfort scent lately. My mom has great taste in perfume and always asks me what I’m wearing when I have this on.
This seems like it would be a good layering scent! I haven’t tried it yet even though I love layering since this already seems “just right”. I will soon though!
Vanilla Musk might be my current favorite. I wouldn’t want to run out of this. I love this so much! I’m turned white musk now.

Much much better that the more well known Vanilla fields.
I was in the mood for a “cheapie” at WalMart this evening so I gave this one a shot.
The bottle is incredibly cheap and generic (even for this being a cheapie!).
I have a feeling that over the years–this one has been reduced to a nice willowy vanilla scent with little else going on. Is there MUSK in here? Spice? Nope. I doubt it. Longevity is about 45 minutes on skin and MUCH better on clothing.
File this under an: After-bath spray, After-beach spray, locker at the gym OR work pick-me-up spray. Or even a Laundry spritz. Treat it like “Vanilla Jean Nate” and you will do well with it!

Vanilla Musk is absolutely lovely! Oh I love it, it’s so soft, sweet, musky and delightful! It is very gently sweet – not sickly at all. It’s delicious and divine!! Has a lovely woodsy undertone which keeps it from being too sweet. And it lasts so well, that I really only need to spray it on in the (early – 5am) morning, and it’s still there at night, at bed-time! But I love it so much I can’t help putting more on every now and then! I LOVE it!!!! LOVE IT!!!

  23. :

Love Coty Vanilla Musk – heady vanilla, caramel, sandalwood, musk goodness! And yes, I can even single out the cedar – the fragrance notes profile is very on-point! In the 90s I used Victoria’s Secret Vanilla shampoo and conditioner – the ones that came in pretty cobalt blue and gold obelisk looking bottles and smelled of vanilla and honey – and Vanilla Musk definitely reminds me of that!

  24. :

This is a nice, simple vanilla scent, sweet but not cloying. I think it smells better on fabric so I’ll use it on clothes. I also want to try layering it with other scents. I spent about $15 on my first bottle, and bought two back up bottles when I found them for $10. They probably won’t be discontinued any time soon but it did happen with another cheap Coty scent I like, so I made sure I have enough Vanilla Musk.

II don’t see the comparison to VS vAnilla lace at all. Not that I was looking for something like that. But it’s much too musky IMO in comparison, where vAnilla lace is all sweetened vanilla.
This was a blind buy and I do like it, but I’m quite disappointed that it smells very much like Chopard Casmir. I grew to dislike Casmir after years of being addicted to it. I just finally got rid of all 3 of my bottles of it on here, just to order Vanila Musk which is practically in the same vein. I see vanilla fields is thought to be similar to Casmir, but haven’t heard that about the musk. Pretty bummed about this.
I got a mini. Very strong at first and settled swiftly and soft. I’ve layered it with other perfumes and its nice enough. A very musky vanilla, spices, and woods. I also don’t see the similarity to burberry be it which I think I’ve also read here. I dunno. I’m just not very excited about it. I know this is a classic staple for many people, so I’m so sorry to say, this is just ho hum on me. Don’t see mmyself wearing it much:( I guess I just can’t get over the casmir vibe I’m getting. More masculine , musky, and linear tHough ..

This was one of my first “grown up” perfumes after I graduated from Love’s Baby Soft. I had been allowed to wear Coty Wild Musk (a great casual scent, btw), so when this came out it seemed like a natural progression. I was 14 going on 20, and my first boyfriend got me this for Christmas.
It was a great winter scent at a very affordable price point. It was all sweet vanilla and musky sandalwood. I remember this was in pretty stiff competition with Vanilla Fields at the time; I actually preferred this one. Fields had a little tinge of sour or green note, where this one was all powdery, woodsy vanilla. Very soft, sweet, perfect for those chaperoned “dates” at church functions.
Sillage is good on this; enough that people notice, but not so strong that people back away. We always sprayed our perfume on our clothes back then, and I remember it lasted on my sweaters until they were washed at the end of the week.
I can see this still being a perfectly acceptable daytime scent for anybody from puberty on up. For the price, this is one you can afford to keep around as a go-to for casual days running errands or lazing around at home on fall and winter days.

Vanilla Musk starts out on my skin with a blast of sandalwood, then slowly morphs into a gentle vanilla and cedar. Not so much musk, which works well for me. On clothing it lasts FOREVER and smells wonderful. It’s a cozy scent and makes me yearn for fall and winter. Cheap thrills!

The first few times I smelled Vanilla Musk, admittedly, I wasn’t crazy about it. To me, it was all musk, and not much else. I recently decided to clean out my verging-on-absurd collection… And so I pulled out Vanilla Musk, and luckily decided to spray it again. Boy, was I wrong!
Vanilla Musk is subtle, feminine and absolutely delicious. It smells just like a vanilla milkshake! I think what it is that throws me off about Vanilla Musk is just the name. (Just like with Wild Musk. I guess I just don’t like the word ‘Musk’!)

  31. :

    5 out of 5

This is listed as an Oriental Vanilla but to my nose it’s a straight gourmand. Despite its name, I pick up absolutely no musk from this; to me it’s vanilla akin to a kitchen extract. By itself, I’m not all that fond of it. I have, however, found it is fantastic for layering with other perfumes. Just as that dash of vanilla extract gives “oomph” to baked goods, Vanilla Musk brings something special to the perfumes I’ve combined it with. Very glad to have this in my wardrobe.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

I LOVE Vanilla Musk so much, I want to scream! This is my FAVORITE vanilla perfume ever. It’s vanilla candy musk and wood, and I sniff this everyday because the scent makes me happy. I can’t be without this ever and it’s said to be just for winter, but I don’t care I will wear it all year round. It’s not heavy even though it’s very potent. One spray lasts the entire day, despite being a cologne, and I touch up for fun!

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This is a fairly linear fragrance, featuring equal amounts of a sweet, slightly boozy vanilla, a “not quite clean” musk, and a very dry cedar/sandalwood combination.
It’s an extremely sensual scent with excellent longevity and decent sillage, which works best in colder/drier conditions. When I wore it to work in a hot kitchen, the musk became a little too animalic for mixed company and the vanilla was a bit too “sticky” (not that I didn’t like it, I actually rather enjoyed this change, but my co-workers did not).
Men could wear Coty Vanilla Musk, in my opinion.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

I’ve had this perfume for a while now so I figured I’d review it now rather than later. In all honesty I found this perfume to be pretty basic, vanilla and musk. On first spritz I actually got a shock at how close it smelled to my signature Hanae mori Butterfly, but after a few more days I could tell the difference a bit more.
Like I said, this perfume is a nice, cheap, straight forward, basic, a scent you could wear with jeans and a t-shirt but still wouldn’t be too out of place in the work place. I think it’s one of those scents that would go well with cold, busy days where you’re out and about. I could easily see this scent just being one of those perfumes you just grab, spritz and go!

I think this smells so much like the original version of Givenchy’s Organza Indecence perfume. The combination of the musk, sandalwood, vanilla and cedar are present in both fragrances. If you like the Organza Indecence but can’t afford the high prices on ebay, try Coty’s Vanilla Musk.
Organza Indecence by Givenchy was created in 1999. It is classified as a woody oriental fragrance for women.
Top notes: mandarin, nutmeg, cardamom, bergamot
Middle notes: carnation, Ceylon cinnamon, jacaranda, rose, orris
Base notes: vanilla, cedar, patchouli, musk, sandalwood, oakmoss, labdanum

Upon spraying it today this is what I get. PS it’s a cold damp summer day in wisconcin
First spritz is a dry orange and it gets a bit woody after a few moments. Than the vanilla comes in and some alomond? Yes after a 5 minutes it’s all vanilla marzipan for an hour. Than caramel sweetness, still woody and vanilla…and 2 hrs. in there’s the musk! For me, sometimes I can’t smell some musks and I can only just smell this one. Vanilla Musk’s dry down is a moderataly sweet woody vanilla with a little musk.
I would have to say this is great on cool days. Fall? Comforting sightly heady smoky-sweet, dark vanilla.
On hot days it turns in to a sweet, white-hot vanilla caramel mess just before going sour on me!
A gem for the price but for cool/cold days only!

A short, practical review for a practical fragrance:
Vanilla Musk is a woodsy, cold vanilla with no gourmand facets at all. The longevity is insane from all of the musk. It is congenial and satisfying, and smells high-quality. For a $14 drugstore fragrance, it is incredibly worth it.
*Edit* – This fragrance is also a dead ringer for Atelier Cologne’s Vanille Insensee, but with much better longevity.

  38. :

I really like this cologne. There are some I like better, and this one is somewhat less complex in my opinion than some others, but it has two of the three scents I MUST have, vanilla and musk! It lasts a fairly long time, and I do get ask quite a bit what is in when I wear. A great fragrance though I do get tired of it if I wear it too often.

Snagged a 4 piece Coty Musk variety pack for $7 at Walgreens after Christmas. Included was Coty Vanilla Musk, Jovan Musk, Jovan White Musk and Jovan Wild Musk. The Vanilla Musk is the first and only one I’ve tried so far. It started off with a very light and subtle vanilla but seemed to fade away really fast. Several hours later, thinking it would be totally gone, I gave it the sniff test and it’s still there. It’s gotten sweeter and thicker smelling and it’s very lovely. It puts me in mind of Burberry Brit EDT when it’s at it’s vanilla peak and also a little of Lancôme Hypnose, which I can’t wear, but like. This one is a keeper.

The first time I tried this I did not like it. That was months ago, I tried it again and gave it a second chance, I finally realized why this turned me off at first. The sour harsh hit at the beginning is similar to vanilla black tea, in fact, Vanilla Musk smells exactly like the loose tea blend I buy at my local tea shop, and I really like that.
I do believe this is one of those musks that smell completely unique to who is wearing it. It seems to change on the skin a lot. Overall, it stays a nice rich vanilla scent, but there are different types of vanilla scents, if that makes sense to anyone hah. Anyhow, this would be great as a layering scent, perhaps with something that has amber in it.
4/5 Not bad at all. A simple, moderate, soft woodsy, tea like musk with marshmallow. Like an Earl Grey Latte (London Fog) made into a fragrance.

I bought an unopened gift box of Jovan and Coty Musks at a flea market this past weekend for $7 and that is why I have a bottle of this. I like what I like. This I just hate. To my nose, it smells like a Designers Imposters spray. I’ve read the reviews and have come to the conclusion that either the bottle is off, or I really, strongly and intensely, dislike the kind of vanilla in this. I think I might just hate vanilla as a main note.

    Well hello there, old friend.
While I do enjoy this very much, my nose can’t take much more vanilla than this. It’s perfectly blended with the musk. It’s a pretty straight forward vanilla but not overly sweet, and I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear this. It’s such a cuddly perfume that wraps around you like a bear hug.
I owned Vanilla Musk at least 15 years ago and I’ve recently been craving it again. Luckily I got it in a swap (thank you smalltownbeatnik!) and I couldn’t be happier.
Longevity 3-4 hrs. Projection strong only during first hour and then turns into a skin scent.

I am not a vanilla fan, however, Vanilla Musk has enough musk and sandalwood blended into it to make it a winner for me! I just love the warm, comforting scent that I get from it. I used to wear this a lot when it first came out and I got tired of it. I found a great deal on Ebay for it so I purchased it again…so glad I did!

May I chime in with everyone who thought they didn’t or wouldn’t like this unassuming gem, then revisited it and was enchanted! It does throw you off for a brief moment upon first spritz, but allow it to tenderly embrace your skin. Soon, the lovely not-overdone sweetness gently mingles with a smooth, powdery vanilla. Traces of a sweet crème broulee waft around you…delicious but refined, not a blatant gourmand at all. If you love gentle, sweet vanilla scents, Vanilla Musk is a must-have. It’s what Hanae Mori and Avon’s Vanilla Musk wanted to be!

I picked this up on a whim, traveling down memory lane. It’s nice but I remember it being better? The vanilla is very fake smelling to me; cheap, chemical vanilla. The musk side is nice with sandalwood & cedar on the end. It lasts a long time & sillage is pretty big. A little goes a long way. I won’t be buying another bottle but I can see why people still like this. It’s a comfortable & pleasant musk.

This is one of my top five desert isle fragrances. After a rather brash start the cedar mellows and in comes the most delightful display of clean musk, warm vanilla and soft woods.. A comfort scent to the hilt, makes me feel cozy, protected and loved.. Will always have in my collection. The only flaw is that it lacks longevity on my skin.. Thank goodness it’s very, very affordable.

This is the nastiest perfume I’ve ever smelled. It is quite nauseating and headache inducing. Absolutely disgusting. When I tried this perfume, I wanted to wash it off immediately. Unfortunately, it would not come off no matter how many times I scrubbed my wrist. Thankfully, it was gone the morning after.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

Vanilla Musk is so light and demure, yet powerful on its spices. It’s a gentle vanilla musk to go to bed with, to hold a baby with, an unassuming fragrance that won’t turn heads but will make your skin smell very, very good. It’s a faint musk with strong spices and an over wash of vanilla that hits you immediately on the first spray in a delightful mix that makes you come back for more.
Its’ initial spritz is glorious with a zesty lemon that has one drooling and dreaming of lemon cream pie. It’s absolutely delicious. I can’t get enough of the beginning notes of this cologne spray. No alcohol whizz, just immediate gratification and pleasure from the first spray through to the end. It’s a little stronger than one might think for a cologne spray, and it does radiate well. Lasting power is not that well, two hours at best. Although, for a cologne, that would be decent. Considering some of today’s Eau de Parfums, it holds its own in longevity.
A little bit of burnt logs thrown in for good measure which only adds to this old stand-by of drugstore classics. A creamy, cooked vanilla pudding from scratch comes to mind when I smell my wrist with Vanilla Musk. The type of pudding that’s been left on the stove a little too long and has some burnt crisp edges along the sides of the pot.
A scrumptious winter-time fragrance for those snowy days in front of the fire, watching the snowflakes fall.

Sophiealbarn said almost the exact same thing I was going to! I saw a $4 stocking-stuffer size of Vanilla Musk in Wal-Mart and bought it on a whim. I have happy memories of both this jewel and Vanilla Fields from the mid 1990’s. What I love the most about this fragrance is how light it is. I use 4 heavy spritzes and I get the softest, airiest cloud of vanilla and cedar bliss. I have been wearing it every single day since I bought it, reaching over my beloved TM Angel, Dior Addict, and Stila Creme Bouquet. It’s very versatile…so light it can be worn anywhere, unlike
the very intense Angel, and more innocent than the sultry Addict.

I worked in a drug store when this scent came out, and I quit because the customers wouldn’t stop spraying it. I used to like Vanilla Fields, but after three weeks in vanilla hell (it took me that long to admit defeat to the reek and quit my job), I have avoided anything vanilla. Even the baking ingredient. Horrible, horrible, horrible scent.

On a whim, I bought this about a week ago and it is all I’ve wanted to wear since! The dry down is lovely, powdery, creamy, very vanilla, but not too sweet thanks to the musk and woodsy notes. I’ve been ignoring all my Dior and Prada and Frederic Malle in favor of this $15 drugstore gem!

I sampled this and Van. Fields the other day at K mart. I have to say I prefer Musk and so did my daughter. Vanilla musk is more smooth and well- blended, while Fields is more harsh and loud. I can’t wait to purchase this and use it for layering. It is a time less classic that is not only affordable, but long lasting too.

This came out my senior year of high school. I wore it and loved it. Then, right before starting college, I got my wisdom teeth removed and they used vanilla scented gas to make me woozy. Totally ruined this frag for me– and vanilla candles, soaps etc–for years! I can’t quite get the courage to try this again.

This perfume really surprised me. It’s cheap, smells wonderful, and good lasting power. For me, sits pretty close to the skin, put this is the best comfort smell, sweet vanilla, not powdery at all, which I love. I love vanilla, but hate the powder smell, so this works for me. I also smell the cedar, which balances the sweet vanilla very nicely. Think this may be my signature scent now, ha, after searching, spending tons of money on more expensive perfumes. Passed by this perfume many times at the drugstore, thinking it would just smell cheap, and not last, wow, I was wrong…its beautiful and simple. Love it!

I’m a bit torn with this one, I think I like it.. But then I’m not sure. Brings back memories of high school when I used to douse myself in the Vanilla Kisses body spray by Impulse. Good times.
Really sweet, foodie yet slightly woody vanilla & definitely musky. It’s the musky part that’s a bit of an issue for me as my skin seems to amplify it. The vanilla and wood part of this is nice though! It’s also very affordable and lasts well!

Vanilla Musk is a sweet, clean vanilla, similar to a bakers vanilla, but with a bit of powdery musk and sandalwood for added warmth. I don’t really detect any cedar. This becomes very warm and beautiful a few minutes after applying, so if you get a sharp plasticky blast at first, don’t be scared off. This is a bit of a perfumey vanilla. In the 90’s, the drugstores were full of heavy vanilla scents, and this one fit right in. I still love it.

How had I never tried this?! Anyway, this fragrance is a sweet surprise!! Perfect balance of all my favorite things, yummy, smells more expensive than it is. My husband loves it, too

It is so interesting how fragrances can vary so much from person to person! I am wearing Vanilla Fields on one wrist and Vanilla Musk on the other and even though they are both vanilla fragrances they are very different. Vanilla Musk is a perfect, sweet vanilla blended with just the right amount of sandalwood. I think I can get maybe just a little dash of cedar. On my skin the musk is very subdued. It has warmed up considerably as I have worn it, transforming into a fragrance that is mouthwatering, slightly decadent, but yet understated and smooth. I think Vanilla Musk will really come into its glory in they fall. VM is really a wonderful fragrance, and for the price you really can’t go wrong!
I actually found Vanilla Fields to more perfumey than Vanilla Musk. At first it was scary and sharp, but it has evolved now into a warmer fragrance with mainly vanilla and amber on my skin. I can still sense the jasmine quite a lot, and this one isn’t quite as smooth IMO. It is still pretty, but I do much prefer Vanilla Musk. It really all depends on preference and body chemistry though, so definitely try both of them out! They are so inexpensive there is no need to feel guilty for indulging a little 🙂

This is definitely a nostalgic scent for me, but unfortunately I no longer like it as much as I used to.
Vanilla Musk, on my skin, is a dry, powdery vanilla with a fairly animalic musk and a good dose of wood. Even though this would usually be a description I would gravitate towards Vanilla Musk just comes off too “perfumey” and plastic smelling. If I had to choose between drugstore vanillas, I’d opt for Vanilla Fields.

This has been my signature perfume for years. I get compliments at least three times a week from complete strangers.

This is a dead ringer for Dior Addict on me lots of vanilla (obviously but done well as it is not super sweet or foody) and sandalwood – minus the tonka bean which is a good thing as tonka and my chemistry don’t tend to get along so well. Better than Avon’s vanilla soft musk which is along the same lines but more baby powderish. The Coty line of musks and inexpensive fragrances are long unavailable in this country but I managed to pick a vintage bottle of this (from the early 90s) up for a bargain. This is also a dead ringer for an old 90’s Impulse deodorant spray which was very popular during my teen years here in NZ called ‘vanilla kisses’ the guys loved it so I guess they may swoon for this too.

Lot of perfume snobs out there, to me if it smells nice and I get compliments then its a winner. I have so many scents that I like some really expensive and some not, like this one but its all how it makes you fell and this one smells rich and a lot better than a lot of the designer ones I have that pretty much all smell the same.
