fruity like pineapple, florals that are sharp like orchid, cyclamen maybe heliotrope, honey, light wood

I got V by Gloria Vanderbilt in a lot without realizing what it was until I had the bottle in my hands and looked it up here on Fragrantica.
Flowers, fruit, and… Beer? “How is that even possible,” I thought to myself? Well, it’s definitely possible and there’s definitely something beer-like about this fragrance. I find it fun and quirky for this reason but I can understand people who are turned off. The alcoholic vibe probably isn’t office-friendly or considered chic.
The floral and fruit notes are very pleasant, though. The honey and ever-present “beer” note sweeten the florals and fruits and give an overall impression of a carefree and playful fragrance that has never dreamed of taking itself too seriously.
The longevity is respectable (about 6 hours for me) and the projection is modest but noticeable.

Like mead, a beverage of fermented honey…I am beginning to suspect there is something the matter with my nose, as most florals smell soapy to me…and V is no exception. It is a clean bouquet, quite fresh and uplifting. There is an outdatedness to it, and the alcoholic impression cheapens the fragrance. It does not fulfill my need for a spicy, enchanting floral perfume, but it is by no means offensive. The sillage I find to be quite soft but the longevity is good for the price.
This is rather a generic floral, a bit dated, but overall a safe perfume.

I bought this on Amazon.com for a low low price and added it to my Gloria Vanderbilt collection. This is a warm summer scent of honeyed flowers. This is also very boozy like a gold colored honeyed champagne. The fragrance is fruity at the beginning. It’s mostly citrus and some abstract fruits that you can’t make out but dissipate quickly. There are also white floral scents most likely a gardenia and jasmine combination but again also doesn’t last too long. The whole thing turns into a sweet delicious honey. It’s very intoxicating and smells like honey wine. I think it’s very nice but this is the kind of warm scent you should wear in cold weather. This is warm and very unisex because it’s citrus and honey which I find is not feminine at all but for both men and women to put on when they want to smell of booze without having to drink booze. I’m not an alcoholic but I am a fragraholic. This is delicious. It’s still available on Amazon.com so check it out if you like Vanderbilt fragrances and honey.

This is a very nice perfume. It is a little old school and a little goes a long way. I would describe this as a special night time ocasion scent. It is very “classy” Its mature but it does not have a “Old church lady smell” I would not suggest this for anyone under 25. If you wear a small amount on a day that is not hot and humid (I still say its a night time scent) this is very pleasant. I found bottles at a local discount store for $2 each, i love the little .8oz bottles (very vintage looking) so i bought 2. I really thought at $2 it would stink but i was pleasantly surprized! I sprayed it and my sister was like “oh that smells good” This fragrance last a LONG time too. In fact i was going to give 1 away but when I smelled it i decided to keep both lol. I think many of the Victoria Vanderbilt fragrances can be described as classy. Also the .8oz bottle is just so pretty and classy its its design, i cant wait to sit it out on my dresser.

This is a very weird floral fragrance. I agree with the beer thing. However, give it a few minutes or so and it becomes this gorgeous champagne-y floral that is so fresh and uplifting.
I will wear it. I just can’t shrug the feeling that it kinda reminds me of being at the dentist’s clinic. It is really weird but not bad at all.

a cheerful citrus. loud and obnoxious, absolutely nothing softens the explosion of top notes. I haven’t smelled this in 20 years, but I can still remember its desperation.

I found the notes listed on another site:
essences of freesia, mandarin and jasmine. Blended with notes of ylang-ylang,amber and sandalwood. The sillage & longevity are moderate.
I agree it does smell a bit like beer. = (

To me it is a bit mossy, honey in the middle and some light flower on top. Not so bad.

It’s a strange scent…bitter, flowery, citrusy at the same time. I agree with falovalo, it does smell a little like beer. I guess it does not agree with my chemistry.
