Frederic Malle reformulated this scent again. I got a recently produced bottle with Estee Lauder uniform batch code [A28] (i.e. Feb 2018), which is slightly different from a decant of year 2016 but fortunately I appreciates this new formula even more.
The different between the old and the new formula is not as substantial as you can imagine, just minor changes and minor enhancements in complexity. The new formula introduces a fruity nuance, smells like real fresh litchi, instead of using some god knows chemical compounds that always fail to simulate the real smell of it in a dozen of fragrances that dare to feature litchi note. But this will do.
Apart from the fruity nuance in the opening, the rest remains the same, which means if you cannot get used to overdozed Iso E super like me, it’s still not for you. I believe there would be someone who insists the previous formula. No need to back up, just spray it on skin and wait half an hour, you will get the old smell again.Rating: 7.5/10 for v2018; 7.0/10 for v2016

A crimson rose soaked in sour red wine. Pass…

A perfectly expressed rose with staying power. A must experience for rose lovers. I am loving so many Malle fragrances ans appreciate the diversity of a curated collection of different parfumeurs.

This is quite simply a rose. A single, full, red rose. I don’t get any wine or other notes. There’s definitely complexity — I can smell some leaf and stem — but it melds into the “rose” illusion.
I disliked this the first time I tried it, and I’m glad I tried it again. Normally this deep, full rose is paired up with spices and things that just don’t work for me. This is closer to something I would wear, especially to a date. It’s a very romantic scent.

I never particularly enjoyed Rose. Then I stumbled on Portrait of a Lady and I became a convert. This then led me to trying Une Rose. If you are yet to be converted to rose, I suspect there will be no love for Une Rose but if you enjoy rose, it does not get better than this.
Une Rose is sublime. Simple but exceptionally well done rose. I was surprised to find out it was by the same creator as Poison. Where as Poison seems to be so complex and full of different notes, Une Rose is the opposite its smells luscious but it is a huge in your face punch of rose, rose, rose. I guess its testimony to the guy that he can excel at simplistic beauty and style and also lead the way on complexity and innovation.
Une Rose is a really clean fragrance. The wine dregs are there but just enough to enhance the outstanding rose. I realise it has other notes but to my nose they are not visible, it is all about the rose. I remember rose fragrances from being a child and never liked them since. I suspect that is because what I smelt were cheap concoctions that left a bad taste. I now realise a rose done well is a really beautiful affair and I am gaining a lot of enjoyment from it.
Even if you are not a rose fan but you are a fan of well designed fragrances as an art form, it’s worth hunting this down in department stores to experience it and make your own critique/ review.

Thank god. I’d gotten tired of my Diptyque Eau Rose and was looking for something deeper, but had no luck with Rose 31, POAL, or Lyric Woman. The rose seemed buried in all three scents, always hidden under the other notes. Une Rose is not the oriental rose I thought I needed, but it is the rose I’ve been searching for. I was afraid I’d get bored with a straightforward rose, but this is so rich. Jammy but not sweet, fresh, but fresh like raindrops, not the sharp green of a cut stem. Flamenca dancers look like they smell like this. Like others have said, so does the color red. THIS is what you wear with one of Alessandro Michele’s dresses, not Gucci Bloom.

    Une Rose.
Im really grateful Malle keeps to his word by putting the greatness in the formula. Here we have an iconic perfumer give us his opus to rose…much like he did years ago with tuberose with Dior’s Poison.
Une Rose stands strong with it’s point of view and definitely unapologetic for what it is even in modern times. UR is a classic beauty that will transcend the generations with it’s large rose that counterparts come to mind like La Fille de Berlin, Sa Majeste and even the huge stunning rose that once bloomed in Ysl Paris first formulation.
Une Rose however has the best accords complimenting the rose to allow it to do what it needs to do… Bloom over a matter of hours.
Those that think Tea Rose is a suitable replacement..Tea Rose pitches much sharper to the nose rather than a fully rounded luxe dressed rose here in UR. It’s what we’ve come to expect from Flechier and he gives us another treasure to seduce and steel our backbones for life. Superior in it’s genre.

One of my favourite rose scents. I prefer less of the stems and leaves and this has the great balance.
Long lasting and very realistic smelling.

Trying the Frederic Malle offerings once at a time, trying not to overwhelm myself too much. I slip and often wear a few at once, but we are only human. Une Rose to me is one of those ‘instaloves’ as I like to call them. The comparisons to Perfumer’s Workshop’s ‘Tea Rose’ are definitely apt. It definitely opens that way and continues on, shall I say, that way for quite a while. 4-5 hours, in fact. I don’t think I’ve ever met such a strong, heady rose before. Yes, it is a fair soliflore, but it’s an intense one that unfolds ever so delicately over its 10-18 hour lifespan. Around the 6 hour mark, it becomes quite spicy and a fine incense become present to my nose, and it softens a bit. The incense makes me think this would layer, after a few hours, with Tauer’s Incense Rose quite well (although the incense in Tauer’s is very dusty) and would make this something entirely different, adding a little adventure for those who enjoy it but find it a bit too traditional. The longevity with this is insane for me. The red wine listed makes me wonder how this would layer with Our Modern Lives”Red’. As one could expect, this could be quite a fun venture and worthy of a full bottle as the layering possibilities are endless. The sillage is bordering on amazing, too. Many people have commented on it and this pleases me. Full bodied, I’m almost scared to layer of I’m honest.
One reviewer’s ‘Never girly, nor Victorian’ remark has me intrigued and comparing it to a vintage scent. It does have a certain indescribable quality to it that makes it rather ageless. The opening is fresh and dewy, but far from dainty. A big, big love.

A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.
Really, I can repeat it a thousand time, so does this perfume. It’s not just “une” rose, it’s the universals of roses.
Except for that overwhelming sweetness——but not unpleasant——I also get a heady indolic scent. I’m not sure. Perhaps it’s strong enough to hallucinate me.

goes on jammy sweet rose just like Perfumer’s Workshop but a little greener but then dries down a little incense and powder but after about two hours it is a bit bitter and brassy on the skin like a cheap drugstore perfume; not worth the price though it smells yummy at first and lasts a long time

blooming roses. starts off fresh, powdery and soft. ends up deep, boozey, musky, fully bloomed. in the finish, it still projects very clean but with a dirty, naughty undertone. this is a realistic and intense rose. DEEP RED. a must try for rose lovers, especially if you’re tired of synthetic roses or rose/intense note combos (oud i’m looking at you).

Agreed: this is The Rose scent. And I’ve sprung for a FB. As others have stated, it is a cool, wine-dark perfectly natural, blooming red rose in all its facets: petals, leaves, thorns, dew droplets. Tender, dramatic, noble, a hint of jamminess, even hiding within seems to be a very subtle musk/leather underpinning. Gorgeous balance of honey-sweet to lemon-tart inflections. Perhaps a faint honey-urinaceousness. But always “about” the rose.
The perfume is like a bottomless pit: the rose just goes on and on, into infinity… Never can you say, “the scent is finished developing on my skin”. Into far drydown, a slight leathery solidity comes into play, but even *it* doesn’t seem to be the last word.
Because this scent contains no frilly or perfumey or cosmetic notes at all, no hint of high-pitched “bridal” white flowers, no caramel or marzipan, no patchouly or sandalwood or vanilla, it is never girly, simpering, cutesy, bath gel, powdery or soapy. Neither sluttish nor Victorian. It doesn’t have to be, because the rose it *is* speaks for itself. This fragrance doesn’t have to “try”… there is nothing aspirational, self-consciously “suave” or trendy about this. It just…is. Such a rare thing. A man can wear this.
There is a hint of pathos to this smell, a certain emotional urgency (perhaps brought on by the honey and wood underpinnings) that brings almost a pang to the heart. Other reviewers have mentioned that it might suit Lestat, Dracula or Snow White’s wicked stepmother: they are not altogether wrong about this, as a certain E.A. Poe melancholy dwells within UNE ROSE… and that is by no means a “diss”.
The jus, when you spray, is mostly scenting oils, and will leave a sheen of oil on your skin that *doesn’t* evaporate; this is certainly an Extrait de Parfum, and has the incredible lasting-power to prove it.
I didn’t think this sort of thing happened in perfumery anymore. Worth every penny. I’m smitten: My new reference rose.

Agree that this is The Rose. I tried it quite a few years ago and recall it having a stronger wine aspect and smelled a bit darker. Like a deep burgundy. The problem I had at the time was that either the honey or musk turned urinous on my skin in the drydown. Probably the honey. Having tried it again recently, post-reformulation, I’m pleased that the urine aspect is gone, and it is still as gorgeous as ever, though seems a bit brighter, like rich red velvet. This stuff is potent and lasts all day so I have to be careful not to be too enthusiastic with the atomizer! Rose is probably my favorite note in perfumery and I enjoy a good solifore. This one is a must-try for rose enthusiasts. I’m going to need at least a travel spray in the near future.

It has taken me a number of years to finally succumb to a purchase of Une Rose, despite being quite captivated. It previously sat gorgeously on my skin for 20 minutes before becoming an ever growing storm of sharp bursting rosiness that was awe-inspiring but frankly uncontrollable.
Now (in some type of reformulation?) it seems just as mythical in rosy austerity but firmly under my jurisdiction. It also seems to me, a photo realistic impression of the secret well in Patricia McKillip’s novel “Winter Rose”:
“The well was one of the woods secrets: a deep spring as clear as light, hidden under an overhang of dark stones down which the briar roses fall, white as snow, red as blood…beneath their sweet scent lay something shadowy, mysterious:the smell of earth, water, wet stone”.
    Mood: barefoot fairy-tale queen.

I can hardly add anything to the previous reviews. This is THE Rose scent. Takes you on a long lasting refined journey through the beauty of the rose…all of it. Rose gardens, rose bushes, bouquets, rose stems & leafs…color, symbolism & all that comes to mind when thinking of a rose.

The most honest rose for rose scent lovers. This fragrance is just perfection for daywear: it’s beautiful, sensual and very classy. I would not use every day, though, as I find it too special. Complement it at night with Portrait of a Lady for the ultimate rose experience.

Sometimes I even feel “a beautiful scent” is an underrate to this perfume.
The presence of the smell is enormous. It’s out there; it’s announcing that the queen is in the room – not Marie Antoinette but Victoria I .
If you are doing an entry level role, you should be concerned when wearing this because you will smell like the boss.

Treated myself this Frederic Malle gem for my birthday yesterday as I’ve been on the lookout for a fullbodied masculine rose scent to add to my collection. This is the best I’ve sampled but definitely not for the fainthearted.
Beats hands down Dior La Colle Noire,Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin,Cafe Rose by Tom Ford and Le Labo Rose 31 in strength, tenacity and oooomph.
It’s like the whole rose garden, the stems, the leaves and the earthiness in which its planted. This is no artificial rose in my opinion. The red wine note does give it a slightly boozy inflection and the other notes really add strength to what is undeniable a full powered rose assault. As it settles they come into play and the musk upon drydown is one of the best.
Its sweet but not overbearingly so,and worth the retail price in my opinion.I sprayed twice on my neck on a warmish Sydney winter day this morning and at 3.15pm right now its still going strong with noticeable wafts.
    Perfect rose

In a universe of roses, many of them quite lovely, this is the Rose! I’m not a rose soliflore, or really any soliflore fan. I really love Portrait of a Lady because it’s a rose, but it is so much more. This perfume conveys the idea of Rose in all its stages, morning, noon, and night. The pelargonium and geranium continue and extend the effect of a pure rose.
However, it is not boring or trite, and there is development and interest. The base has a sweetness and true warm rose quality.
I don’t think I’d wear this a lot, but it is a Rose that I will wear. This could be a spring wedding, Easter brunch, hot summer day or night rose. It’s not exactly sexy the way POAL is, but it’s certainly not a juvenile innocent rose either. The one I’d probably compare it to is Sa Majeste la Rose, but this has a fervent intensity that I don’t find in the Serge Lutens, but it’s not like any of the other roses in that line either.
I also have Teo Cabanel’s Early Roses, a great light rose scent, slightly green. This one is again, far richer, redder, deeper, more intensely rose without going Oha-formal in that line. There is also something slightly vintage and comforting in this scent. Some perfumes I like to wear to bed, and this would be just the thing for sweet dreams and pampering.
This has monster silage on me and excellent longevity–both rare! I cannot stress that enough: most perfumes just die on me despite a rather heavy hand on the trigger. This is yet another Malle that justifies the pricepoint in comparison with other brands.
If you are a Rose lover, this is a Must Try. It’s quite good if that’s the thing for you.

The rose I have been seeking. There are so many ways to do a rose “soliflore”. It can be that slightly chemical and cool scent of sticking your head in the florists’s rose cooler. It can smell like just the flower of the rose. It can be velvety and powdery. Or it can be like this, a whole rose bush, root to tip.
Une rose smells like a whole rose garden. I feel like it starts in late morning and moves into evening as it dries down. Green and earthy to sweet and fruity to warm and woody, but rose, rose, rose the whole time. It feels unfair to call this a soliflore because it is complex, but it’s also right. This is definitely a rose scent. Perfect…
    ::sigh:: but so expensive.

For me this was one unbalanced drunk rose. Starts as it ends, like a wine and a rose. I don’t say I don’t like it but I don’t love it at all, so I purchased one better rose – Portrait of a Lady. On the other hand, this one might be stronger and maybe more daring fragrance. All in all, this wasn’t my cup of tea but still a very good try. Solid but expensive.

Une Rose. A lovely and unequivocal name for what is, on my skin, an equally beautiful, definite rose soliflore. First spray was not as intense as I had expected, and smelled exactly like a pale pink rose to me. A little later, it reminded me of expensive rose soap with a touch of patchouli, presumably the geranium, although it does not smell “soapy” to me. It is just the actual scent which made me think of a soap I was once given. The air around me smelled beautifully rosy, although the skin on my arm had the geranium as the main note at this stage.
I felt the same way about the perfume for five hours, at least, and it did not really change in that time. Beautiful rose scented air, and geranium with a little rose, on my arm. After seven hours I noticed that the fragrance on my arm was softening and becoming less spicy, while my own little “aura” still smelled of rose. This is the first perfume that has actually smelled like a real rose, for me, rather than being a “rosy” scent with no definite rose in mind. I can see this lovely pink rose, clearly. I have and love Lipstick Rose, for example, but not as a true example of rose. It is simply a lovely happy fragrance.
After eight hours, the skin on my arm had a beautiful soft floral scent, with possibly a little scented geranium leaf adding a delicate touch of spice. The fragrance around me was fainter now, but still clearly a rose.
Longevity was excellent. I sprayed very lightly and both air and skin scent are still noticeable after eight hours. Projection, bearing in mind that light spraying, was not very far, but I could smell the fragrance through the neck of my jacket while I was outside, and my husband did notice it immediately after first spraying. For me, very few of the other notes were noticeable at all. They were no doubt adding to the overall effect but the fragrance seemed so well blended that I could distinguish nothing but the rose and the geranium leaf.
I have one of the 10 ml spray vials of Une Rose. I think that there may be a bigger bottle somewhere in my future. Fortunately I only need to spray lightly to get an excellent effect, so the 10 ml will last a little longer yet.

This is a deep, dark rose, beautiful enough to be given as a single rose. I smell the drops of moisture on the petals and the rich spices of a dinner date.

I dab it on the inside of my wrists after a shower and using unscented lotion. I am shocked by the color of the fragrance: this is a deep, red rose. I do not think of the scent of this rose, but the scent of this color: crimson. Freshness arrives to cut the heaviness of the opening, but it is fleeting. This is still a particular rose. There is nothing outdoors about this scent: no leaves, no sun, no soil, no breeze. No, this is an indoor rose, and it is dark inside. The walls are flanked with heavy drapes of crimson velvet and roped gold finishings; the windows have not been opened, or cleaned, for some time. The furniture is heavy, dark wood, and ornately carved. Bowls of spices are set out in shallow gold plates to seduce the guests to take a closer whiff. Goblets of wine appear and dark rose petals are tossed on the chaise lounges to invite guests to them. It is a scent for reclining, a scent for smoking clove cigarettes, for drinking Bordeaux, but funnily enough not a scent for socializing…I don’t experience this as a romantic scent. This woman is in complete control of herself, so much that no one even gets close enough to smell her perfume….

This is the third rose perfume from Frederic Malle I’ve tested, and just like Portrait of a Lady and Lipstick Rose, I’ve slowly come to love it after giving it the time it needed to grown on me, or to be understood I guess. I have to say I think FM’s very high prices are more justifiable than those of some other houses: you pay a lot per ml, but you’re sure to get a very high quality, original and versatile fragrance that you’re not likely to get tired of, and a little goes such a long way.
Une Rose, then! The opening can be a little jarring, especially if you’re not used to it. It’s a very strong, extremely soapy rose – green and pretty sharp. I’ve come to appreciate this phase for it’s own sake, but it’s taken more than a couple of wearings to get to that point. The best part comes a bit later in any case, when the scent becomes more balanced in the heart. The very green, earthy quality of this Rose remains dominant all the way through, but it’s made more complex and a bit more mellow and wearable by the sweet notes, the honey especially. The wine adds another layer of subtle contrast: a wonderfully original, slightly sour note.
It all just comes together beautifully, and it keeps getting better as the day goes on until it starts retreating closer to the skin and finally fading away after many hours. It can really provide a joyful background to most any day, whether it’s a drab day at the office or a holiday celebration.
So it’s another love for me, and the more I wear it, the more I love it: all as I’ve come to expect from this house. But I’m still not sure I want to buy a full bottle – having succumbed to the other two roses mentioned above already it would feel just a little too decadent to my common sense, not to mention my wallet. So I’ll just have to make my decant last, at least for now…

I recently tested the new version of Une Rose. The deep, rich, ambery quality that made it so unique and attractive is less visible in the new version. It is still beautiful. It smells younger and brighter. To some it might be a change for better.
I do not know when Une Rose was reformulated, before or after Estée Laude. The difference is obvious, although I still like the new version.

    Rainy mid autumn evening.
Red rose and geranium are drinking dry red wine sitting by the window in a murky cafe.
They’ve known each other for ages, have a lot to apologize for, but the bond they share is still strong.
    Maybe even more so.

Although rose is the dominate note, this one is unisex. Its musky, rich, complex and pungent, and thankfully not sweet or flowery. It’s also got a slightly sour note that just happens to work well with my skin chemistry. Silage and longevity is off the charts. I sprayed both sides of my neck and got compliments all night. Close to Tom Ford Cafe Rose but with way more of a backbone. Crazy expensive but I have to get a bottle. Its magic.

I’m sorry to be the only one here that thinks this “Nice” rose is not worth the money. It’s ok, but nothing interesting, mysterious or unique to warrant paying over $500.00 for 100mls.

A beautiful ‘true’ rose scent that lasts for many hours (10 hours plus ) on my dry skin and for days on clothes. My first thought when trying it was that I had only ever experienced the same scent when I had my nose directly inside a newly bloomed rose from my fathers perfectly manicured and pristine garden. I get rose and nothing much else in its way. Similar to Annick Goutal Rose Pompom. Sadly, I’m not a rose lover (although I adore Lipstick Rose) and therefore offer my 10ml tube to anyone who wants to buy at reasonable price. Pls PM me. (Australian reviewer)

After sampling a number of times, I can safely say that while I like this fragrance and enjoy an occasional wearing, it is not calling out to me to buy a full bottle. Rose, yes, a bit dark, sometimes even dank, with warmer dregs surrounding the rose. Definitely a scent that needs to be tried and enjoyed.

Fascinating, NOT your usual rose perfume. It develops strangely and beautifully, as if it were dancing at a masquerade ball. It is intriguing and exceptional as it sways to the music. It glides from alluringly sweet to crimson red wine to jarring tartness. The glimmer of the jewel-encrusted mask changes with the light and movement.. Another spritz. I need more. It pulls me in, this mystery … grappling for direction and shape. The scent delights me as a waltz begins. Its opulent mask is angular, without symmetry, but lovely none-the-less….silently beckoning you to come near. The mask edges and slips. Yes, yes it IS a rose. Party-goers’ gowns swish by me. Their heads turn to catch the lavish trail which sways and dips with the 3 count beat. They too are circling …. in thought, under the bewitching spell. One, Two, Three.. One, Two, Three… The melody slows…and ends….the jeweled mask drops. Une Rose. You are mine.

Flechier’s Une Rose for Malle is perhaps the boldest rose centered fragrance that currently floats in the market and surely among the most masterful ones. It isn’t a rose solifore but more a fragrance around a complex and slick woody-floral (mainly rose) accord with emphasized earthy elements (a truffle accord) and some sour (wine dregs) and animalic notes. The top employs the usual rose henchman, a strong pelargonium-geranium aromatic gust but soon a heady rose note assertively ascends (nothing powdery or soapy here), gradually becoming softer without losing however its tension. The fragrance also incorporates a considerable volume of wood-ambers such as the brutal karanal along the velvety ISO-E Super but in an astonishing fashion it manages to tame these enforcers in the blend so effectively that never take over the accord. This is probably the most fascinating and admirable part of the fragrance and surely a mark of Flechier’s genius. Une Rose is a dewy fresh rose, bony and dry in character with a smooth earthy and slightly animalic drydown, very well proportioned and balanced. It feels as an avant-garde arrangement around rose and it wears as a serious and innerving fragrance. Its projection is gentle but penetrating and its staying power phenomenal. My only problem (apart from the fact that I have difficulties with rose in general) and maybe it’s just me here is that as many arrangements around a single note it lacks the abstraction of a fully developed composition. Apart from that this is a bossy scent from a great perfumer.

I invision a prim young girl wearing a floral dress smelling like this amazingly true rose scent, but I could totally pull this off 😉
The geranium rose accord is the loveliest one I’ve come across, and the wine white, barely noticeable, is used to bring out the sourness of the rose. If you prefer sweet roses, I doubt this one will change that for you. I personally love both, but I think I’ll save my pennys and just get Tea Rose.

Une Rose is so beautiful! It feels like I am in the middle of a lush colorful rose garden when I wear this, the roses smells so realistic with their thorns, leafy greenery surrounding the rose, the ground underneath is slightly damp. In the green garden, there are flecks of deep salmon pink flowers from the leafy geranium, it adds a minty-lemony scent and gently brightens up the fragrance.
The rose has a feminine and sensual tone, it grows on my skin as time goes on.
Deep and dark mauve colored wine becomes evident on my skin, the wine has a hint of sourness. Patchouli and vetiver accord enters the composition causing the fragrance to be earthy.
Truffle is an elusive smell to me, it adds a thick texture with an oily pungent undertone to the fragrance.
My skin is super-dry I was surprised by the lasting power on my skin (10 hours) and sillage is great, everyone in the room will notice you.
It is worth the price for me.

Scent – sour, plastic, dewey rose.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.
    Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 12hrs consistently.

Serious stuff for serious rose collector.
Not so much as opulent/rich or big than true-to-nature, fresh and spicy-green.
Realistic. Nothing fatally beautiful, no mistery whatsoever – just beautiful red rose, fresh and dewy, the queen of flower garden.
I was actually more drawn by the wine note, but here it comes closer to Beaujolais Nouveau than to Bordeaux Medoc… And I enjoy my red wines (as well as my red roses) dark, robust and with strong, full body, lots of tannins, character and perhaps some drama, too.

I bought a bottle of this blind as a present to myself when I graduated university about 8 years ago. I was pretty nervous on account of the price, and the blind buy thing (crazy, right?). When the package arrived I quickly unwrapped the rather large bottle (yes I bought the large size) and sprayed it on my wrist only to be blown away. My Mum came down the hall asking “what have you got there” drawn to the smell and exclaiming “oh wow, that is beautiful”.
to this day it is the only perfume I have ever loved. Sometimes I try other fragrances but I always come back to Une Rose. It is delicate and sophisticated, not in anyway cloying or alcoholic which I always find the ones at the shops to be. It reminds me of a rose called Fragrant Cloud, this plant produces big red/orange blooms that project their scent for miles, never have I experienced a flower quite like it, and to me, Une Rose is the closest thing I have encountered to that amazing natural scent captured and bottled. This scent however is heavy, perhaps as others have suggested almost oily, I like it the most in winter for this reason. To me it really smells like apples, roses and earthy dirt. I know there are no apples notes in there but I swear I get green apples, fields of roses (like fragrant cloud) and earth.
8 years later and i still have that original bottle I bought and it is pretty much the only fragrance I use. I lasts for ages on my skin, 15 hours plus, though it does fade after 10 hours I’de say but still distinctive. It is powerful fragrance, all i need is one spray.
When I’ve been out at night wearing this fragrance I have had people drag me over to them whilst exclaiming you smell like roses and others sniff me out asking “who is that smell coming from?” 10/10 from me.

Incredible interpretation of what a rose fragrance can be. Une Rose has in equal measure elements of the flower, stalk and root of the plant; combining these elements into a complete, photorealistic yet deeply poetic fragrance. I typically dislike cliché rose perfume, however this just does it for me. Though I don’t see myself buying a bottle any time soon, I certainly would recommend it.

Roses are my favourite flower – bit of a cliche I know! I got my first garden two years ago and have attempted to turn it into a rose garden – I’m always testing rose perfumes and comparing them to the real thing. I’ve finally got my hands on a sample of Une Rose. It is very good no doubt. I suppose I am a little disappointed, as like so many other rose perfumes it’s a soapy tea rose – and truth be told, none of my sixteen roses smell like this. They smell softer, more nuanced, with notes of myrrh, peach, and raspberry to name a few. I suppose it’s near impossible to replicate a real rose, including it’s green stems and earthy roots. It’s a beautiful r
