Description

For the summer of 2012, Marc Jacobs prepared new additions to the Splash fragrance collection under the name of Tropical Splash, bringing back an old edition and two new ones on the market. Rain, from 2006, returns this year in a new format, along with the new releases Kumquat and Hibiscus.

Hibiscus is a seductive and exotic floral fruity fragrance developed by perfumer Richard Herpin. Juicy flavors of raspberry, mandarin and pink peony open the perfume and make an introduction to the core of tropical hibiscus flowers, pink freesia and tiare. The base is woody and elegant, made of exotic woods, vetiver and musk.

The large 300 ml bottles are replaced by more practical cubical 100 ml ones, featuring Eau de Toilette concentration.

Just got it today as a blind purchase. Smells pleasant and light, but smells almost exactly the same as Victoria Secret’s Aqua Kiss Fragrance Mist (probably because of the Freesia)…which is not a bad thing…except for the fact that Aqua Kiss is 1/3 the price of Hibiscus. :/ oh well!

…strangely i’m impressed… i gave it a try, because of its stunning colour, and this is a much happier scent than many “happy” scents on the market!
Although it’s a splash, i’m in the 8th hour and it still smells distinctly: mandarin, hibiscus, rasberry and something citrusy – overall a delicious, uplifting summer smell <3 !! Many have complained about its staying power, but perhaps it’s more suitable for the summer heat! ( a 10-year-old student of mine commented: Miss it’s edible! Yummy!)
    And to think i’m a woody-spicy-oriental maniac 😉

I like this one its a little sweet but not too overpowering and its perfect for summer since its a light toilette. Its fresh, feminine, and sweet. Reminded me of a very toned down daisy eau so fresh.

I couldn’t wait to try this and I was very disappointed. A nice hibiscus flower in the opening that lasts about five minutes, then fades to a watery tropical floral scent mixed with musk. Not worth it. Omnia Coral was a better Hibiscus fragrance.

I was quite exited to try this, but I actually knew in the back of my head that I shouldn’t keep my expectations to high. I spritzed it and it’s a pleasant light floral fruity, more floral than fruity, though not extremely exotic and not very what I’ve expected a hibiscus-fragrance should smell like. Still it’s very inoffensive and pleasant as I said earlier.. The staying power is terrible, but hey, you’re it’s called a ‘splash’, so splashing is what you’re supposed to do… a lot.

Very disappointed. Expected to love it, but it didn’t smell like hibiscus to me at all! Sadly, what is reminded me of was sweating people on a bus in August. Not going to get it after all.

I love tropical flowers, and so am very eager to try this. I tried it once in the store, and immediately liked it. But then I couldn’t smell it anymore…but I’m not sure if it’s because I was trying other scents and this one just got overpowered by the others. I def want to try this one again! It may be a good choice for the summer.

This starts off as a lovely tropical-floral scent, with the hibiscus as the central note. As it wears though, it fades into a watery freesia body mist. The woods and vetiver listed above are nowhere to be found. I really liked the hibiscus note while it lasted, but I was disappointed as the scent dried down. I found it a little generic. This could make a nice light scent for hot summer days if you like freesia. The lasting power is quite poor though – a few minutes at the most on my skin.
