Description

Amouage Attar Tribute is a fragrance created in 2009 of precious and rare ingredients of its rich, hot and nuanced composition. Classy Tribute was composed by the best perfumers from Grasse by using incense, saffron, floral notes of jasmine and Taif rose. The composition also features leather, tobacco, patchouli and vetiver. The perfume is both gentle and intriguingly authoritative, available in traditionally luxurious glass flacon of 30 ml EDP and 12ml.

    …And what a tribute!
This one is a completely hands down.Absolutely enchanting, promisor and bold.
There is no doubt its concerns to a minority range of people, whether it is not a popular “tasty” for beginners and price tag is way over average.Anyway, it doesn’t mean you can’t bring to your wardrobe(at least a sample),and this happen because as soon as you got the small bottle opened, air will be filled by burnt incense surrounding over 6 feet from.So it is very easy to figure out what you will take part in.
I mean, if you feel bothered by the acid burnt smell better you give up,however I recommend you to push further,as we got the very begin of a deep journey into olfactory world.
Theres is 3 different phases, like incense in a real sense and by this time everything is kinda complicated to figure out. Then we have an exquisite brand new couch leather phase, rubbered leather in a good way, plus a smoked jasmine( indolic) come along as an elegant escorting.By the last my favorite one, leather started to fade away into earthy vetiver followed by a tremendous resined/amber rose took away.Like no other concoction ever made, it is a briefly of brief, resuming in what you at least could expect from Tribute. It is not a professional review, the longevity of those 3 phases are 12+.I think we have Amouage dna right here, don’t know about lately launches, nonetheless if you love this house don’t you ever skip Tribute.

Am wearing it now. The most concise description I can give after several wearings: a tarry rose; a rose covered in engine oil, placed on leather, then set alight, burning down to ash with added tobacco. It’s a good one, and certainly draws attention and compliments.

Feral tobacco – woody – animalic
    Color impression: dark gray
A brevity of rose, incense and feral tobacco larger than mountain scale. Tribute is perhaps the most hardcore tobacco and one of the truest oriental scents out there. It opens with animalic smoky tobacco with slight floral nuances. Dries down in woodsy vetiver and murky tobacco while its brilliant animalic side takes hegemony. I do love this scent. It merges my hunger for both tobacco and dark animality at once.

Sublime! Radiant saffron, rose, and tobacco oil that wears all day. The smoky opening fades in the first hour to reveal a jammy rose taif, darkened with saffron which contributes to the fruity character. This is multifaceted and, like a finely cut gem, reveals it’s various colors and qualities over the course of 9-10 hours. Intermittently during the day I will be gobsmacked by a beautiful scent, and will be astounded anew by the quality of this attar. To my nose, vetiver is less present (though may be somewhat responsible for the smokiness).
I purchased a 12ml size, in the red/brown wood grain box, directly from Oman via a popular auction site, in late 2016. While the oil is darker than my sample from 2009 or 2010, there is no doubt that this is the same oil. It is NOT lacking in rose, which has been a complaint of some batches. I know that much has been made on line of different batches and reformulations, and maybe I have just had good luck, but recent purchases of this and Homage have both met my expectations and compare favorably with earlier samples.
I am so grateful to be able to add these to my collection. Don’t let fears about scarcity from the discontinuation of the attars get in the way — it’s worth the hunt.

Tribute Amouage for women and men

Wow and wow!! Most impressive fragrance that I have ever smelled. Tribute it’s very complex, dark, and opulent. I like very much its smoky character. Very expensive but with a drop it’s sufficient since it’s an ”attar” and therefore very oily.
The only handicap, apart from high price, it’s the few versatility. IMO it’s rather masculine since it has a very smoky vibe.

Just received and unpacked today. Interesting. Not bad at all, though not exactly what I was expecting. I had read that there are batch to batch variations, and I suspect the batch from which mine was drawn is heavy on the tobacco. I was hoping for rose, but didn’t detect any. Other than tobacco, I am getting smoky incense, skunky weed/marijuana-like notes, and something strongly reminiscent of herbal lemon tea. The fragrance remained on my skin after a long hot bath and scrubbing, so it’s quality stuff. Overall Tribute is good, something I will enjoy having in my collection but probably wouldn’t purchase again. I might try Homage for the rose.

Tribute is beautiful, so unique, nothing compares to it.
I keep getting samples of it, I wish I could get the bottle.
I am a woman I love to wear this.
Powerful, seductive and dark, the embrace of smoke, Taifi rose, saffron, tobacco, leather, cedar, frankincense puts me in a trance-like state. It is a bold attar not for the faint-hearted.
I cannot begin to describe this beauty.
Its smoky and quite challenging right from the start, when I first dab the oil on my skin I smell the the beautiful smoky frankincense. Then the oil warms up and I get a tobacco note.
After a time on my skin, the beautiful soft subtle Taif rose builds up, Taif rose has the most gorgeous pink color it breaks through the dark tobacco and smoky incense accord.
The rose meshes with the tobacco beautifully.
    I get a touch of spicy saffron-pepper.
The leather peeks out, it has a subtle animalic quality, I detect something that smells like gasoline, is it oud or all of the notes blending together? It serves to enhance the leather and tobacco accord.
I notice the wood-vetiver-patchouli accord underneath the tobacco.
The frankincense from the beginning is still noticeable until the end of the fragrance. The tobacco, incense, leather and rose are all gorgeous together.
On my skin I enjoy all of the notes- delicate Taif rose, leather, frankincense, tobacco coming up to my nose, it is so smooth the way the fragrance slowly develops and progresses I am on the edge of my seat when I wear it. I cannot describe everything, I love the way tobacco smells in this attar, I love how everything smells in this composition.
A beautiful, opulent, high quality fragrance, and very complex attar.
I put on a tiny drop of this on my wrist and after a time, the sillage builds slowly I catch wafts of this but sillage is closer to my body. The scent is still in my shirt. Longevity is great about 8 hours on my very dry skin.

    Beautiful. Just beautiful.
The unfolding is quite wonderful. It starts off very fresh, hardly any tobacco… then it transforms gradually. The tobacco comes forward. I find it about equal to the strength of the rose. The incense pairs so well with the tobacco. Leather is supporting. Some patchouli and vetiver in there too. Slight smoky quality. Complex!
I had to start with a decant because of the acquisition price. This is not a safe blind buy for the average person. For me, I didn’t find it challenging at the start. Interesting. But as it develops… wow. I find the tobacco undulates, swelling then ebbing, then swelling again. At times it seems like it’s mostly tobacco, so I understand why some got that impression. But one needs to live with the fragrance and be mindful of it across the wearing to appreciate what it offers.
Anyway, all this fanfare and no oud, which says a lot for an Amouage attar. 😉
Well… I’m going to have to buy a retail bottle of this. Eventually. Some way, some how. Discontinued! Dammit.

I was looking for something unusual and the reviews of this scent were very positive. This smells very strongly of tobacco to me. In certain situations that can be enjoyable; for example, when someone is smoking an aromatic pipe I find it very pleasant. But for my body to be smelling like a pipe is really not something I liked at all. Also keep in mind, this is not a subtle scent, it is quite strong.

I really wanted to like this. The other reviews are so compelling and the composition is incredibly complex and interesting on paper. On my pulse points, however, I I smell is tobacco. I felt like I was trapped inside a giant cigarette box. It was almost nauseating. I never got the rose or anthing else. Too bad. Passing along my sample to brother-in-law or sister-in-law. They both enjoy smokes with their drinks 🙂

I’m speechless. I bought this (and Homage) blind and received an epiphany in the mail. So deep, refined smokey leather and silver incense. A gorgeous tobacco note creeps in and there youn have it: sublime simplicity that lasts forever. what else does a ‘fume junky want? 10/10

I just purchased the last 12ml bottle from a
dealer. I find this one breathtakingly beautiful.
I fully agree with Marco Chau that its like
taking a walk in Rose Garden wearing a new leather
jacket. I got smokey tobacco too and cedar infused
with so many other ingredients (which I couldn’t
identify) as basenote. After the first fifteen minutes
and during the middle phase Rose raises its head
now and then yelling ‘I am here’ in the midst of
    tobacco, cedar and leather.
Just with a homeopathic amount on wrist I got
great projection and the velvet like rose that
everyone talks about. But with slightly larger
or may be a bigger drop the rose disappeared
completly. Less is certainly more here.
Amouage attars are no longer available in the
market. If you don’t have it then grab it on ebay
    while its still available.

Unlike Kterhark, I got nothing like Onda from this. I love Onda, but Tribute was nothing but an acrid smoke bomb on me. After an hour I had to scrub it.

  22. :

Amouage will no longer import the attars. Tribute is the real deal amazingly masculine and just lovely.
If the scent was ever odd the only one in question is the supplier has tainted it.
There standards are high as the raw materials.
With natural materials also season and batch of raw materials come into play so when scents are not synthetic they may vary slightly as not all roses smell the same and so on.

So strong, so beautiful, I just purchased mon nom est rouge and I immediately knew it reminded me a bit of amouage epic, and something else that I couldn’t remember, now I remember , it was amouage thtribute! very much a tobacco rose amber incense perfume very similar, and even though this is super potent stuff.. I swear mon nom est rouge is nearly just as powerful. they are so close, and I know that the same nose for amouage epic is also the nose for mon nom est rouge…..
Anyway, one amazing perfume! or rather all three, lol

I tried this CPO today. I wasn´t expecting to find it in the store and it wasn´t even planned to have a look in there..
At first, I did not put it on skin, cause I allready had perfume on (Encre Noire by Lalique), so the seller put it on a paper strip at first.
Well, it wasn´t a good idea, as you might allready see..
First there was a heavy amount of smoke in it, overlaying any other scent, almost nasty. And it took quite a while, until other notes were recognizable and the smell got more pleasant.
The smell developed and got warmer and spicier, with still heavy tabacco and smoke.
I than decided to through the piece of paper away and tried it on my skin (where there was no Encre Noir of course).
What should I say? I know that a cpo even more needs to be tested on your own skin than an alcohole based perfume, because there is way more development and a deeper relation to the person who´s wearing it. That´s why I tried it on my skin at last.
But even knowing this, I wasn´t prepaired for the completely different smell that enfolded me now.
Just from the beginning there was less smoke but more warmth and depth with more spice and incense.
I haven´t read about the composition, so I was quite surprised, when I first detect the Taif rose after about 15 to 20 minutes. From that on, the rose became more and more prominent till there was less more than rose in my nose. This was even more shocking, because on the paperstrip there was not the tiniest trace of rose or flower, even after nearly an hour!
Just when I began to think, this fragrance may have to much rose for me to wear it all day, it changed again.
Vetiver, bit smoke, tobacco, leather and woody notes came back, not heavy, but warm and pleasant, the rose and floral componants became a tiny part of the fragrance, nearly ‘invisible’ to my nose, but still there, giving the frag more depth.
And that´s how it stayed with only less further development.
A warm, woody, spicy scent with some leather and tobacco and some notes my nose can´t clearly detect.
Its about 9 hours ago, when I applied it on my hand. It´s still stronger than most perfumes, but of coures less prominent than 3 hours ago. But, by a price of 270€ per 12ml I expected it to still be more persistent. To be fair I have to mention that I was lots of time outdoors and it has been quite a rainy day.
The cpo itself is quite fantastic, I love the smell and the development. Hardly can stop smelling on the back of my hand, where I applied it. But with 270€ it will really take lots of time till I will decide to finally bye it.
(I´m sorry for my poor English, but as a foreign speaker it´s quite hard to express myself. I do not have to speak or write in English very often. And when I do so, fragrances are usually not the topic of these discussions 😀 )

I’m going to be fair-minded in this review, but as we all know, perfume is so emotional. Full disclosure: I loathe how this smells on me. However, I admire the craftsmanship that went into creating it, and I purchased it to experience the fine quality of its ingredients. The ingredients are undoubtedly first-class, the color and texture of the attar are divine, and I have nothing but respect for its creators. However, I just couldn’t wait to wash it off at the end of the day.
I used the very tiniest drop on my decolletage, and one tiny drop on each wrist. Immediately, I was knocked over by powerful smells of leather, musk and tobacco.
As the day progressed, and I waited for some sort of reasonable dry-down, there was none. Not a single waft of rose, jasmine, or any lighter essence. On me, the scent became thickly redolent of tobacco and leather, and for some reason I kept thinking about camel hide. I grew up in parts of the Middle East, and know what camels smell like. I’m very fond of camels, and defend them against their nasty reputation. I’d be crabby too if I had to carry loads on my back through baking hot terrain.
I just don’t want to smell like a smoky camel now. And I did all day.
I now have a beautiful, big bottle of Amouage that I’ll never use again. I’m hoping to find a girlfriend who’ll treasure it for the fine creation that it is. It should make a lovely gift for the right recipient.
I’d encourage you to try the tiniest decant you can find. Like it or not, this is a very unique cultural treasure to be sampled with respect and an open mind.

I meant to say attar 🙂 , the 30 ml one. None the less the 30 ml is still insanely overpriced. I do like some Amouage fragrances but their attars have horrible batch variations which do no justify their prices and sorry to say the premium mukhallat attars you get from ASQ and Ajmal are superior and are much more reasonably priced. The older formulation of Tribute was pretty good but the current formulation is just weak and the orange note is way to dominant. and longevity is spotty. I even have Indian Shamama attars which do the Rose/Tobacco/Incense notes much more beautifully and instead of Omani Frankincense , Somali Incense blended with Indian frankincense is used. These hardly cost 60-70 dollars for a tola (12 ml in attar terminology)

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Ajmal has an attar which is VERY similar but costs a fraction of what this does. I dont have the name but I have 20 ml oil decant of it, with the very same tobacco, rose , floral notes, followed by louban in the base. Amouage has marketed tribute with the western customer in mind, while it is good, its not worth the highly marked 700 USD for the 30 ml attar
Amouage is western owned though its based in Oman and I feel this leads to quality control issues with their attars. They differ vastly from one bottle to the next. Top Attar houses, like Ajmal and Abdul Samad have mastered the art of quality control because its an inherited family profession which goes back generations and the knowledge handed down in producing attars with no or little variation is an art in itself.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

Nice Fragrance, but a bit too formal for me and inappropriate for my climate, though its quite classy and complex, i get a lot of orange and cumin with some vetiver root and labdanum which gives tribute its slightly animalic edge, but if you must own an attar, then go for it – if you want to get to similar territory but want a better made scent as a whole go for the much more stankier-but-sexier Absolu Pour Le Soir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian (sans the orange and vetiver).

The intensity of this fragrance and the cost of around $25/ml certainly make it not for everyone. I fell in love with it the moment the sales lady put it on my wrist. It’s exactly what I’d been looking for in the longest and all I could do then was to hand over the money despite its steep price tag.
    Post Note:
After having it on for a whole day, I can finally come up with some personal description of this fragrance. My experience was like wearing a well worn velvety soft leather jacket in a rose garden with hundreds of thousands of roses blooming at the same time while someone is burning the best quality of sandalwood in a corner and a few people smoking the best kind of tobacco around. A truly divine experience but make sure you are not in a confined room as this fragrance is really enormous.

Tribute is dominated by tobacco with incense joining the plot an hour later. I do not smell the other notes. It is incredibly intense and a tiny drop is truly enough. Very interesting for what it is. Needless to say, this is for hardcore tobacco lovers.

.2ml yes .2ml not 2 whole ml’s but only .2 ml’s or one fifth of a ml for $14 dollars US.. This is expensive juice..
I find it nice, intriguing, deep, and covering.. It lasts.. I used half of my drop yesterday sampling it and am waiting a few days to try the other half drop..
I have to say that if I could afford this I may buy it just because I can but not because it is one I would go to..
    P.S.
If any one bought this and would like to give it away to someone that loves colognes and would appreciate this scent please message me.. I will take it off your hands.. It is a really nice scent.

The first 12 hours smell of wild places where the bushes are hard to get through, have thorns this big, and are very, very aromatic, and men ride wild hirses there, too… The greenness and what not in this scent, I love them. Then it’s high time for the next 12 hours. Honey on me, honey and fresh air. It drops, it slides down, and here we go, honeycomb. Slow, sweet, but not too sweet, with a touch of bitterness and all the different shades of taste of honey coming from flowers of all kinds, from lime trees, buckwheat, etc., oh, I love honey in this scent! Next, please. 12 hours of vintage with a drop of honey, wind and flowers blooming in the meadows, warmed nicely by the sun.

INITIAL REVIEW: I love this scent. On me it does NOT dry down into anything feminine. No florals, no roses. It has a powerful mnemonic aspect for me. I flash back VERY heavy (as some used to say) on smells in a northern Minnesota deer camp. Wood notes, but the incense here is straight garbage fire or even a little ashtray. Disgusting, you might say? Not for me. It is a beautiful blend and evokes powerful positive memories.
Longevity on my skin is about 4 hours, at least in our high south Texas heat and humidity. Really should be renewed 1x at lunch. A little bit applied to clothing=much more stamina.
I bought a 1ml sample for 50 bucks and would gladly buy a bottle if it were within my means. It’s not, so I’m now exploring noname ouds and blends.
EDIT: Still love this. However, I am more uncertain about where and when I could fit this into my life. It’s really not appropriate for work, and doesn’t fit my pedestrian social life. And it’s damned expensive for me to wear while mowing the lawn or cooking brisket. Did revise my scores a bit; this is much better when it cools off a bit.

I rec’d my sample from luckyscent and was amazed how this juice is very very strong. I was sent only .2ml which is a small amount and applied all of that amount onto my pulse and pressure point areas. Just applying that small amount was too much! It is very potent. At first, my husband and teenage daughter didn’t like it but once it dried down it became a softer sweeter feminine fragrance. I was impressed. I applied it around 8am on a Sunday morning and its still lingers in my clothes and body at 7:25pm. I don’t look at western fragrances the same. It smells similar to that of Tom Ford private blend tobacco vanille but with a greater potency. lol Good Job Amouage! I’m now a follower of your line.

Very good, long lasting scent. One drop enough!
My only problem with this frag is the very strong incense (what also makes it special). If i close my eyes, i see a bishop, who has a mass in a church.
Because of the other ingredients i think is better for a man, but for a purposeful, self-conscious woman it also can be a good choice. And well… it’s a bit erotic.
I can not say, that Tribute is not so good as Amouage Homage Amouge. This is more luxary, more unique!

Classical oriental.Mature.A bit medicine-like.It’s reminds me of amber incence stick…First it’s very linear, but after minutes it’s starts to opening and growing on me…still medicin-like but with some rose appeares and tobacco..Oh my god, it’s so oriental!!!:)
Dark, earthy, intoxicating.Rose and tobacco comes beautifully with musk, vetiver, patchouli and bergamott. Super sillage, amazing lasting power. Just a small drop is enough from this superconcentrated essence.
Smooth, peaceful, relaxing scent.Scent of the East.

I woear it now, i may not knpw whether it is correct or not but i bought it from amouage themself. To me the initial burst i sublime. It has similarities to homage, but as time passes, taifi rose come out slowly then it starts to blossom, then after a few hours the smells of vetiver start to appear in such a delicate way not abrupt but rather transits in such a way that it do not overwhelm, the vetiver, smoky tobacco smells is not like lalique encre noir rather roll over inside a patchouli leaves. Then the smell of rose starts to appear blossom by blossom , i fell that it is a great perfume , a masterpiece of its’ own way, i waited for a year to smell it now i own it, the only problem is i fear that will it be adequate for me if i wear it everyday..

Guys, im my search for good attars I went to arabic countries, including Oman. There I went to Amouage’s factory. The truth is that Amouage produces its attars with varying quality. I am not sure why this is happening but they have some problems controlling quality of the end-product, probably because they have different inputs for each batch. I personally got my hands on 3 different qualities of the Tribute. Only one of them was as good as it was supposed to be. The other two batches had either too much tobacco or too much vetiver or too little rose etc in the final bouquet. So please try the bottle before you buy it, don’t rely on the tester, try THAT VERY BOTTLE. The same problem is with other, originally excellent, attars – Al Mulook, Al Mas, Eidyya, Bard al Budur, Al Andaluz. The way to correct the Tribute that has too much tobacco is to add further 5-15% of Ajmal’s rose oil – the spicy and zesty Kashmiri rose that they widely sell in their shops in the arabic countries (they also call it Ruh al Ward). After mixing wait for 2-3 months keeping the bottle in the dark cool cabinet. The result exceeded my expectations! Good luck.

Indubitably the finest cologne I have every purchased. An entirely different world. Sublime, ethereal, Taurean earthiness with an unquenchable longing to taste of the floral spell of Venus cast upon the rarest Taifi. Completely unlike anything else on the market and, (dare I say), far more exquisite than anything the West has yet to offer–be it Creed, Hermes, Annick Goutal…all former favorites which are but distant memories now, having encountered this miniscule encapsulation of a stately pleasure dome on par with Xanadu itself, a stately aroma of decreed pleasure. This exotic scent is one of a magical starlit desert night of distant antiquity, mixed charmingly with the suave modernity and lusty elegance of an enchanted and naughty adventure in Marrakesh lounges sweetened by opiumed hookahs or a vermillion sunset over Cairo bidding warm, tender adieus to a day of insurmountable reawakening; a wandering, hypnotic, trance-inducing perfection that silkenly conjures memories of regal hands eternally intertwined with a sculpted lover fatedly blessed with such classical perfection even fair Antinous would coyly blush at the mere wafting encounter of this scent of unquenchable longing irresistibility. A treasure for which I have searched a lifetime, this piece de resistance truly surpasses the finest of fragrances available on the modern market from any Parisian house of high repute. Astrologically the ideal essence of the bull- a simple esoteric elegance that, though breathtakingly stunning in its first rush of a divinely feminine rose, subtly rises to the strength and vigor of refined masculinity with its grounded tobaccos, incense of which the gods would feel unworthy to be offered as oblation, and sylvan earthiness that lingers in the memory of all who are consecrated by its unspeakable grandeur which retains the subtlety of good breeding; a virility of gentlemanliness that the Homage, though so lovely indeed, considerably lacks. May I say most simply, thank you for this priceless pearl which truly is the paragon of a man’s scent, a new standard for myself who now seems want to spurn the Parisian perfumerie to follows spellboundedly into new lands of mystical ecstasy. –carlisle, law student, jackson, ms

I really thought I was going to love this one, but it is horrid. It smells smoky in the worst ways. It reminds me of a rose scent and older woman would wear mixed with the ash of cigarettes. It could be something truly unique and beautiful on some other people, but on me this is how it came off…..yuck.

I”m typically not a fan of Amouage- I htink they are overhyped and overpriced. I’m also not a fan of vetiver (it usually stinks to high #### on me) or tobacco.
But Good Lord, where did this scent come from??? This is the olfactory equivalent of being told there’s “Something interesting to see over there”, and upon taking a look for yourself you find the Grand Canyon.
Unimaginable depth, breathless beauty, indescribable feelings.
If you’ve sniffed Onda by Vero profumo, you’ll have an idea of what this smells like. But there is no ginger here, so it is smoother on the nose. Interesting to me- this has the patchouli/rose combo going on, which seems to be the new chypre accord. Is this a tobacco chypre? Hmm…
In short, don’t deny yourself another minute of wondering what this smells like. This just changed my opinion on an entire genre of perfumes. Try it 😉
(Edit; a-ha!! I just saw that Pere de Pere also compares this to Onda, I’m getting good at this!)
