Description

In mid-2016, Tommy Hilfiger presents The Girl fragrance as a new flanker of his most popular scent Tommy Girl, launched 20 years ago. The fragrance is inspired and presented by the “it” girl of today, model and celebrity Gigi Hadid. Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid worked together and also launched a fashion collection called TommyXGigi. The capsule collection features women’s sportswear, footwear and accessories, including watches and sunglasses, as well as the new fragrance

The Girl by Tommy Hilfiger is announced as a lively and fresh scent that evokes mild sunny days near the seacoast. The composition opens with a wave of green notes of pear, violet leaf and fig leaves. The heart of white jasmine flowers and lily of the valley provide a silky texture to the scent. Cedar and cashmere wrap the base of the perfume up with a woody character, as the seal of the individual and confident style that is symbolized by Gigi Hadid.

The fragrance comes in a bottle of identical shape as Tommy Girl, decorated with the new dark blue logo with red anchor. It is available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. The nose behind this fragrance is Calice Becker.

Yes!! The cedar note i was dying for. This is beautiful. Ozonic, green, beachy and earthy at the same time. The sweetness of the white florals makes it very unique.

This is beautiful!! yes, it’s very light but who cares? It’s perfect the way it is. This is by far my new favorite. Love love love it!!

Woodsy, woodsy, woodsy and salty-dry! If you’ve spent any time on old, wooden boats, THIS is the smell of that experience: Old, dried mostly teak wood, a hint of hot metal, subtle sea-spray, green vegetation on or in the sea, a subtle creaminess of beach flowers or even some ambergris.
The smell of dried hemp and canvas, even with a tiny hint of “oil” smell that gives a nod to pitch used to coat the rigging and caulk between the planks. “The Girl” captures this experience perfectly. I was that girl, minding rigging and battening down the hatches.
“The Girl” is more a scent experience than just a pleasant smell, more along the lines of Lush’s “Smell of The Weather Turning” or Demeter’s “Firefly”, even the Atlantic deep sea scent of Fragrances of Ireland’s “Inis”. But it’s also pretty and soft enough to leave a pleasant fragrance trail.
However, if you over-apply (an easy thing to do with this deceptively spare scent) you will smell like an old, wooden boat or house by the sea, as in, salt cured planks of wood and minerally stone. If you love woodsy, East Coast (USA) style seaside scents, though, this is right up your alley. I’d say it’s unisex but not consciously so, more of an ambiance scent that paints a picture of place, of a scene.

What I love about this, is that it makes me feel better. I spritzed it on, on a really bad and depressing day, at the perfume counter, and it actually had the power to make me smile! I felt comforted and I was smiling! And this was on a very depressing, fucked up day. I can’t even.
I love this scent for the way it makes me feel. Not for the notes in it or for any other reason. I can’t say that about a lot of perfumes.

It’s interesting how fragrance can vary so greatly from skin to skin and from nose to nose. I see no comparison or similarity between this and Balenciaga B,. nor Guerlain AA Limon Verde, and not similar to Aspen Coty..that are all 3 currently dubbed as being ‘similar’ to. But I digress.
To me, this is very green, aquatic and borderline unisex. In fact, I think a male could easily wear this. I am picking up a tea scent, as well. I recall a recent review of another fragrance that I read, wherein the reviewer called that fragrance as a violet leaf tea scent. That sort of fits this Tommy Hilfiger fragrance. But this is also aquatic and..just very green, and yes, ozonic. To me, this is one of those instances where fragrantica’s accords are more accurate than the notes for this fragrance. This puts me in mind of a CK frag, one of the very 90’s and/or unisex ones. Clean type of scent. Will be nice for Summer, I think, or anytime a clean/green type scent is desired.

    Currently wear this!
I’m in love with Tommy Girl and actually looking for something similiar with it. This one is NOT!
This is more sweet and not very long lasting on my skin like Tommy Girl does.

So glad I ignored negative reviews on this one. This fragrance has an amazing cooling effect on me. Like camping in Big Sur where the fog circles around the big trees with the sea booming nearby. Delicate green plants, cedar, fog, and pear! A watery freshness that is second to none in making me go “aaaahhhh…” when I put it on. Delicious! I’d say it’s the cooler, more aqueous cousin to Balenciaga B.
I can still smell this on me 5 hours later and it stays on clothes longer. Longevity is pretty moderate I’d say.
I love it for the unique freshness. A nice watery woodsy juice that feels driving into a lush, cooling coastal fog after spending hours in a hot, dry valley. This one is special.

I hate this perfume. I bought it because I loved the smell however it barely lasts an hour. I will definitely not be purchasing again as it just doesn’t last on my skin and the sillage is poor.

Maybe it is the cedar, but something about this reminds me of Aspen by Coty. That was the first perfume given to me by a boy. It was Christmas, I was 16 (1991) and loved it and used every ounce. This little beauty brings back those memories and I still love it! It smells fresh , clean but still feminine.

The girl who told the notes to the ‘nose’ is mistaken. Musky notes are lame, not as it should be. Car air fresheners are more challenging to me. its a conclusion of blind buy. Only one in ten workmates realized (when I asked) and it doesnt last even one hour, it already doesnt smell unless you lean your nose where you sprayed. disappointment.

Coming into summer now, this scent is great, it’s like a mid way between davidoff and issey.
    Not similar but related.
It’s not sweet as such, I get a little bit if bitterness, less so than the original tommy girl which I want to love but don’t.
Watery, watermelon, bitter, some greenness… it’s not heavy and does great when some of the spray catches on your clothes.

Addition to my last review on this.
I read about people being disappointed with the longevity of these scents, and I agree to a point, I am someone that doesn’t do well with most edt, but here I did.
Personally I would go for these brands in edt than the celeb edp offerings bar the odd one or two.
I found it lasted fine, usually i luck out with edt and also with Tommy H.
I have romance by t.h and it doesn’t last well in winter, perhaps the ‘girl’ line do better in winter? They seem to get eaten up by the heat and don’t last, I had this along side issey miyaki and although I loved the issey, this tommy h was a firm like.
It was a more flat but good, not sweet, not so much warm, fresh and soft, with a nice waft factor I guess.
I got 5 hours, and lots of compliments from the twenty something’s

This is such a lovely scent and I would totally buy it if it would last more than 1 hour on my skin. Really disappointed in the staying power, it’s a perfect fresh scent for summer

    Winter test
I completely agree with the accords listed, perhaps not the notes pictured however.
Green, herbaceous, woody, light, aquatic, airy.
I though I could get a bit of a slight pear or fruit layer, it didn’t come out very much on me. That’s ok.
    Similar to:
    Vera wang truely pink
Ck summer 2016 or 2017? The blue and yellow boxed one.
Aqva divina sort of, the wood is similar, The Girl is fresher and stays linea, doesn’t go floral.
Perhaps on the edge of Burberry tender, my girl has no rose.
    You get the drift.
Fresh, clean and green, light wood. Good year round I imagine

Smells exactly like B by Balenciaga! I sniffed this at target and did not buy because of the nagging feeling that I already owned something similar. Then boom! There it was. Doesn’t last tho. My Balenciaga has better sillage and longevity.

Very fresh, green, girly fragrance with a bit of sweetness. It reminds me of a wind blowing through a meadow. It’s perfect for summer and spring.

I loved it! But it doesn’t last!! 🙁

This perfume is so boring, it’s literally mix of perfumes that already exist except a weak, one dimensional version. It smells almost exactly like Marc Jacobs Daisy, and I agree about the hints of Light Blue. It’s weaker than both of those, and less bubbly/sparkly if that makes sense. It has a very green/fresh flowers powdery scent with a very very light hint of fruit.

For a while, Its top notes reminds me Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue, and after I felt that the fig leaves predominated the scent. It smells good but didn’t catched my nose.

Completely agree with angelscry85 that The Girl smells nearly identical to Balenciaga B. The Girl is a tad more green, and lacks the bit of sweetness that B. has, but yes, this could be a lower end dupe.
Overall, I think I would stick with B., as the bottle is prettier, longevity is better, and it smells a bit more complex.

I sprayed this one at Kohl’s, last week, and I didn’t care for it because my nose doesn’t like aquatic scents anymore for some reason. I’m drawn to floral, vanilla, amber, and sandalwood scents.

  25. :

Wow, I can’t believe how similar this is to B. Balenciaga without all the intense wood. Although on me it has a curry smell and on my mom, it smells wonderful. I guess I won’t be wearing it LOL. I would say this is the poor mans B. Balenciaga. I’ll stick to Balenciaga.

I’m really surprised to see the notes of this perfume. Because to me this scent smells pepper.
    And that’s it.

  27. :

The scent: At first spray this scent has some melon and pear-like sweetness to it. After a few minutes it evolves into something green and aquatic. The initial sweetness is gone and is replaced by a cool, crisp, and may I say even slightly unisex vibe. The leaf and jasmine notes really shine through.
There are similarities to Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but The Girl is its less buttery sister. The Girl walks briskly and flirts with cool water, whereas WS&SS sits on the beach wrapped in a blanket and watches the tides.
It is less of a summer scent than it is an autumn scent, when it’s too cold to submerge the whole body into the water, so you walk with only your feet in it.
This perfume’s name might lead you to think it’s sweet and bubbly, but you’ll find yourself hit by a cool aquatic breeze instead.
Longevity: Quite poor even for an EDT. Cannot detect it after an hour or so.
    Sillage: Typical EDT sillage. Inoffensive.

One can wish that they would have done a better tribute to the original Tommy Girl, whose 20 th birthday is this year. Perhaps a Tommy Woman, or a Tommy Girl Intense, more mature and sophisticated. But not. Instead of growing mature, more complex, this new Tommy incarnation, shortly named as just “The Girl” is younger and simpler. Wet beach air, crunchy pear, lilly of the valley and generic white musks. It is not bad, it is nice and wearable, but the original Tommy was much better.
    Quite unnecesary.

This is actually not as green as one might think, it is fresh, first I detect the Violet leaf, then the lily of the valley, the scent has a natural sweetness, it is green but almost in a cooling minty way, must be the ozonic notes. It is pretty, simple, casual. But not boring, I like it, it isn’t girlish or anything like that…the base is a bit woodsy but not by much , the tone of this fragrance is floral, dominated by the violet with a green watery undertone…I like it!!!

Sounds lovely and fresh perfect for summer even though it seems a bit too green for me I’m still going to try it when it comes out.
