Smells very much like Bottega Venetta BV. Very feminine. Lovely !
ColumbianDrunk – :
I love this, but it’s not a chypre. If you’re looking for a traditional chypre with oakmoss and labdanum, then move along to other fragrances.
If you’re looking for a powdery floral with some mild fruit, then this is perfect. The blackcurrant gives this a lovely top, but it dries down to a powdery iris with a depth of suede and musk.
I like this a lot. It’s a bit sweeter and fruitier than I normally enjoy, but it’s so well blended that I find it appealing.
Is it truly tenue de soirée (evening wear)? No, it’s not that formal or elegant. But it is lovely in its own sweet, dusky way.
Houporalo – :
This is such a peaceful fragrance, but sexy and girly at the same time. I LOVE the iris powdery note. So elegant!
surgut – :
It’s very long-lasting and well-blended, but not something unique. It’s a playful berry-fruitchouli that might be a bit nauseating in the warmer months. Of recently, I think Annick Goutal is trying to attract younger audiences.
Muz05 – :
In the top this is ALL about the black currant! This is a fruity fragrance out of the gate with an underlying powdery element. A fruity floral. Unimpressive for the price. But as the currant tones down and you see the nuances of the powdery iris playing with the musk and patch. Then, you start looking for the leather. Looking. Searching. But, still the currant steals the show in the top and middle. Then, then, wait for it. The sweet fruit gets a little more tart and sharp. It almost has this rhubarb quality to it. But, down through the middle into the base, this is a fruit fragrance, not a chypre. No oakmoss to be seen. I keep hoping for something to offset the fruit but I don’t get it. Basically, fruit, patch and iris powder but the powder lurks. It’s not a powdery fragrance. The closest comparison? A powdery version of La Petite Robe Noire.

This fragrance is very well blended and beautiful!I read the reviews and I agree that initially it bears a resemblance to Gucci Rush but that quickly changes. I get patchouli and leather and a subtle sweetness, more akin to Rogue by Rhianna. I think this is subtle and sophisticated and for a Goutal surprisingly long lasting.
vnn77 – :
Am I the only one who thinks this smells a lot like Gucci Rush? I was very surprised when I smelled it, I think it’s very far from Annick Goutal’s line style. It’s ok, but since I already own Gucci Rush, I don’t feel the need to own this one.

It’s not bad at all. I knew it reminded me of another scent on the first sniff. Yves Rocher Iris Noir but I prefer this as not quite so cold from the iris and a touch sweeter. A big hit of patch, something spicey and oakmoss are very evident on the drydown. Yes, it’s a chypre alright. I find it quite a simple fragrance considering it is an AG creation. I would wear this when going out in the evening.
Moderate sillage and above average longevity.

Fragrance of modern cut and languid achiprada.
Tenue de Soiree is a fruitchouly iris that starts already with a flashing aroma of very streaked iris that turns as it evolves: as with berries, fruity, sweet and creamy for what a good amount of Evernil (canned or oakmoss ) And a musk cocktail are noted.
The patchouli is not very noticeable and the assembly of this arrangement pulls more towards the sweet touch, like chocolates and clean musk.
It is curious, but the fragrance starts rather soft and as it evolves towards drying it is gaining more body and strength.
The aroma is fine and elegant, but as aroma is not that it brings much novelty.
The fragrance revolves more towards the feminine side but I also find a unisex potential of nocturnal character.

I’m very sorry that Annick Goutal is no longer with us. I don’t think that she would be impressed with this fragrance. It is a very modern and uncomplicated fragrance and not for women who appreciate something unique and different. There is no mystery to this one and I fail to find it “Sexy” as some women have expressed. Does this reflect the sensuality of young women today?Flat and dull? I find it to be overly priced for the quality.

Out of the 100+ perfume samples I have gotten in the last few months, this is one of my favorites and one I’m actually thinking of buying a full bottle of when I go to Lucky Scent’s actual store.
It’s not heavy or overbearing, not too sweet, and is in fact very comforting to me. There have been days where everything’s gone wrong, and I’ve said “Enough!” and climbed into bed hours early with a book and this perfume on me for comfort’s sake.
It’s a very beautiful, high quality perfume.

Marlies wrote the note pyramid. What I really get out of this is a lot of iris all along the way (and it is very true and lovely), some wild berries and discrete patchouli. The first phase is very sweet – praline? but it fades within an hour, which is good because I am not fond of sweet perfumes. All in one it makes the impression of a floral gourmand warm and fine. No harshness, all notes are wonderfully blended. It’s not for summer (just colder days) and it would make rather a night scent but that’s your choice.
It is a very elegant stylish and sexy scent and it is the first perfume with a gourmand edge that pleases me.
lohushkamm – :
Tested this one a few times. I think it smells like Gucci Rush. Note that other reviews get the same vibe. If you can’t get Gucci Rush then this is the next best thing.
morEmuppy – :
The first thing I thought when i smelt this was “sexy”
It smells sexy, expensive and attention grabbing
There is definitely plum in this and possibly some other sour fruit.
If you found bottega and rihanna rogue too leathery I highly recommend you try this. To me its so similar except no leather and a little less patchouli.
I did notice a funny note in this that smells cold and creamy, guessing its the iris? I love it.
Cliclelaw – :
Tenue de Soiree was a fragrance that had to grow on me before I could fully appreciate its scent. It’s unlike anything else from the Annick Goutal brand and a lot more subtle than I’m accustomed to.
When I first sprayed Tenue de Soiree I found it so subtle that I experienced moments of anosmia. Luckily I smelt a touch of musty floral notes after a few minutes that encouraged me to keep sniffing and keep my coffee beans close at hand to occasionally clear my senses.
Annick Goutal promotes Tenue de Soiree as a contemporary chypre, and that it most certainly is. Chypres are in my opinion an acquired taste, so I don’t readily expect that Tenue de Soiree will appeal to everyone.
Tenue de Soiree is a very elegant, mature fragrance to my nose with dominant notes of musky patchouli, earthy iris, something fruity and luscious (possibly peach) and soapy musk. The more I smell this fragrance the more I am captivated by it.
I am perhaps the only one that doesn’t particularly like the packaging nor the silly pompom that gets in the way of the sprayer. But then again, it is quite an eye-catcher and will be a popular one in-stores for this reason alone.
I look forward to testing Tenue de Soiree some more. It’s unfortunately not a fragrance that can be understood by wearing it once. I will give it a few thorough wearings before I decide to add it to my collection.

I don’t think this is Chypre type fragrance. Very sweet fruity gourmand.
lenin69 – :
A colleague tested this today during our lunch break. On her it reminds me of a mix of Rihanna Rogue, Bottega Veneta and Gucci Rush – but underlined with a fresh patchouli that lifts the whole composition. It becomes neither too powdery nor dusty or sweet. A nice addition to this portfolio as others have noted as well 🙂

Very warm, sweet and Sexy. Long lasting an full of life.

I really like this one, and I am usually not a fan of fruity scents! The opening is quite fruity with berries. The first minutes it reminded me of YSL Parisienne and the first Guerlain la Petite Robe noire, only better!
It’s not really original, but it’s very, very pleasing!
starostinamila – :
A delightful and unusual offering from Annick Goutal. A left of centre fruitchouli without the afterburner which usually comes with this combo. But soft, what grey light through yonder window breaks? It is Iris, that fey, wan, Ophelia, daughter of Polonius, drifting, singing songs, yet not damp, not even moist. How can this be? How can it be that something so juicy (I smell pear, peach and blackcurrant) can be dry, like an extremely well made martini, and leave me, not shaken, but stirred, clinking with the cold, cold, icy greyness of Iris? I was skeptical, given the combination of Iris and Patchouli, but the patch is imperceptible, so skillfully has it been crafted to buttress, temper and at the same time expand such a cool fragrance. It took a good 12 hours to sidelong glance it’s way into my affection, and I’m very pleased to give it the thumbs up.
openmosix – :
According to the colognoisseur website the notes are,
berries
pear
orris
violet
freesia
patchouli
low-atranol oakmoss
The finishing touch is a sweet praline accord
I haven’t smelled it yet, but maybe this helps someone.

This is such a pretty classy scent!! On first spray I thought it smelled delicious!! It has an elixir quality, it is kind of sweet, with a warm patchouli vibe, I usually worry about patchouli in perfumes, but this is so well blended in…it has a nice warm grown up vibe…it is elegant, stylish, very much femme…the iris is buttery, but lightly, rounded, the scent is all feminine, and enveloping,..this isn’t in your face, it is refined, and with style!! I like that creation, the bottle is femme fatale, the scent is just lovely, warm, will be perfect in winter..it is a bit powdery but so lightly…it seems to really open up nicely and I get whiffs of a great smelling perfume!! It doesn’t turn too sweet in my opinion,, it just stays close to the skin, warm, also fresh , and with a definite chypre base..Lovely!!

The opening of Annick Goutal Tenue de Soirée has a sort of yeasty/alcoholic aspect of iris, but there’s nothing rooty nor earthy in sight. As the fragrance gets warmed up on my skin after about 10 minutes, the violet aspect of iris and the patchouli meld together and bring out a sweet plum accord. At the same time, the texture of the iris is creamy, even a bit waxy at times, which makes me think of a fruity-flavoured lipstick rather than powder puff on a boudoir.
The Annick Goutal website describes Tenue de Soirée as a sweet and contemporary “chypre”, and it indeed is so, because the fragrance becomes sweeter and sweeter as it dries down, and the plum also becomes less tart and more sugary, until it finally transforms into a cloying raspberry. I suspect there’s also some tuberose/ylang-ylang at play, which amplify the sugary aspect of the fragrance. The overall effect is not dissimilar to a lot of popular gourmand fruitchouli on the market, albeit slightly smoother and more rounded thanks to the creamy iris.
There isn’t any significant transformation afterwards, except the spicy aspect of patchouli becomes a little bit more percevable as the sweetness finally calms down. The sillage is relatively close, and the longevity is around 10 hours.
I find Tenue de Soirée more enjoyable than a few saccharine fruitchouli. Thanks to its velvety iris, it feels more polished and less invasive than certain sugar bombs. But overall, I’m still very disappointed with Tenue de Soirée. Once it reaches its plum/raspberry creamy fruitchouli phase, it becomes very monotonous. I can hardly detect any nuance whatsoever. Combined with a big dose of sugar, the scent is very tiring to my nose and my interest as well. Moreover, I find it lacks the retro elegance and the whim in a lot of AG’s offerings. I probably would never think of Annick Goutal when smelling Tenue de Soirée blind.
I would recommend it to those who are interested in a fruity lipstick fragrance or a smoother gourmand fruitchouli fragrance. But if you are fan of AG’s early offerings, I would suggest keeping in mind that there might be a significant change of style.

A beautiful scent! I tried this today at Annick Goutal NYC, where they are pre-selling for bottles that arrive in two weeks. I bought it on the spot, which I never do! This is the kind of fragrance that has people saying “you smell so good” rather than “what perfume are you wearing”? It is soft and powdery, spicy and warm. There is nothing sharp about it. It is also long lasting; two spritzes lasted about 5-6 hours, with slight sillage.
If I had known it had patchouli I would not have tried it; I’m glad I didn’t know! I do not care for patchouli, but this smells different than popular patch fragrances…. I do not usually like iris much either, so this must have many other notes as well. When I got into the cab I had waiting for me, the driver even commented on the fragrance! I actually had three people tell me how great I smelled today. I’m glad my husband was one of them! I’m thrilled with the fragrance. Now if only they would change the bottle and that (removable!) bizarre purple puff-ball; I prefer the vintage looking bottles with the ribbon and card on them.
Update: This is now in stock at Annick Goutal on Bleeker Street in NYC. Call to order or go by to try it; they are super friendly!
