The official website did say “TANASSUQ FOR UNISEX” then it goes on to say “This exquisite fragrance designed for the exquisite woman, is an amorous blend of Rose, Jasmine and Saffron, cleverly infused with spicy fruity notes of Clary Sage and Pineapple. Oudh, Musk and Amber form the heady base of this Eau de Parfum makes it an irresistible catch.”

Tanassuq by Ajmal is such a beautiful perfume. It’s gorgeous. I adore it! I love it! Right from the beginning splendid rose!!! And then saffron comes quite noticeably; it’s lovely, and also there’s a gorgeous smell of pineapple and jasmine, and then the sublime smoky amber and oud base, which is very strong but subtle and goes on and on forever. Also there is a lovely clary sage in there somewhere – I can definitely smell it. It’s brilliant. Such a gorgeous rose, and saffron, and a beautiful heady jasmine. Oh it’s a heavenly perfume. Terribly sensual and comforting. Magnificent. Truly gorgeous.
And it’s the most gorgeous colour and the bottle is superb! Ajmal has such splendid, fantastically beautiful perfumes and all their presentations are sublime! So exquisite!
It is a truly exquisite perfume. Glorious!
My husband absolutely adores Tanassuq too. We both immerse ourselves in it’s beauty, and I wear it, well…. a lot!!! And you don’t need to put much on, it is so beautifully strong! And lasts, hardly fading at all, all day!!! Well….actually more than all day. Really it’s still there the next day quite noticeably. I love it!! I love it!!! Brilliant and magnificent! I LOVE Tanassuq!!!!

Oh my God!!! This is STUNNING!!! Completely fabulous!!!! I cannot say how wonderful this is. It is the most gorgeous rose and oud!!! And jasmine, and herbs, and fruit, and gosh, a gorgeous musky/amber oud dry-down. Oh so feminine and sublime!!! Perfection!!!

Tanassuq is absolutely fantastic.
Upon first application one can clearly appreciate the combination of fresh roses and Ajmal’s well established oud note. The whole sensation becomes fresher and much brighter with the introduction of aromatic herbs and some fruit that give more “air” and radiance to the fragrance.
Despite the prominent rose note in the opening, the jasmine very soon becomes stronger, slowly overtaking the rose and dominating the floral aspect of Tanassuq, till the far drydown.
It is really amazing how Ajmal has handled the oud note in this creation. While it is clearly noticeable throughout the perfume’s life span, it never overshadows the saffron and the (discreetely smoky) amber which magically cling to the jasmine to complement its sweet penetrating floral essence, gently enhancing it with a spicy and sensual aura.
There are many instances during which, smelling Tanassuq, sort of makes me feel as if this is a new upgraded “oudy” version of the legendary Knowing by Estée Lauder.
Tanassuq may have been classified as a feminine perfume but personally I would have absolutely no hesitation to wear it.
A powerful oriental creation worthy of Ajmal’s legacy.
