I really wanted to like this as an extremely budget friendly easy-to-wear summer time gourmand scent.
But on my skin I just get a too stong smell of alcohol first and then comes the cacao, which does not blend in well with the artificial vanilla and white florals in this one. Not on my skin at least.
The cacao might be the only thing which is not so artificial in this one, yet it gets lost in the middle of everything else. If I could just pick out the cacao note from this and then layer it with something else…
This also reminds me of something that I wore when I was a young teenager. Cannot say what it was, but it must have been something rather cheap and synthetic.
So if your skin tone is warm and salty like mine and does not handle artificial notes well, you might wish to consider a similar kind of budget friendly summer fragrance option from the Yves Rocher range: Monoi Eau des Vahinés. The YR scent is so much less artificial with beautifully blended tiare flower, coconut and vanilla in it.

A light, fresh gourmand perfume. I don’t get much chocolate, but I do get a lot of frangipani and vanilla. Some fruit, florals, musk and woods in the background. Nice, but a little boring in my opinion. A little chemical too.
Sillage is soft, longevity is 2-3 hours.

This was a beautiful surprise blind buy. I have loved Jil Sander fragrances since my purchase of No 4 years ago. I still have a small bottle of No 4 which I may have to upgrade.
I was expecting your standard tropical spin scent, but this is so much more. Beautifully blended layers of fresh citrus, wood, floral, vanilla and chocolate. Just the right amount of sweetness to refresh on a summer day, but the perfect amount of warmth to cuddle into on a cold autumn day. The frangipani stands out front and centre and is backed by smooth chocolate and vanilla which shouldn’t work but it does. A touch of musk makes this sensuous and a perfect evening fragrance as well
I love the light zip of citrus, and the earthiness of wood. I’m not a floral lover, but there is just the right amount of citrus, vanilla and chocolate to make this different from a typical “sun” scent. More layers and more interest than any of the EL bronze scents – this stands out in a class of it’s own. Excellent projection and longevity, a year round wonder and perfectly unisex. Not expensive, but smell of class and quality.
More than worth the money – I’m going back for the perfumed body lotion.

This smells like an Almond Joy candy bar. So delicious but not too sweet! I actually do smell coconut even though it’s not listed in the notes. I get a lot of the chocolate on my skin with a slight bit of a saltiness mixed in with the frangipani and vanilla.
It’s soft and sits close to the skin, but it’s really nice for summer. I would also wear this as a winter pick-me-up scent too. I’ve been on a Jil Sander kick lately and this is another lovely addition.
Palex – :
Nice summery fragrance, not too sweet and not cloying, with enough power to be noticed, if you don’t want to smell like lemonade in summer pick this one, excellent choice for summertime.

I do not like vanilla notes, but in Jil Sander’s perfumes it does not bother me at all, adding some gourmand vibe. In my opinion the name and the bottle does not corespond with the scent. As many already noted, I also can not feel connecton with original Sun, which is not bad. The notes i feel the most are vanilla and frangipani. Yes it is sweet, but it is more soapy sweetnes, rather than heavy, thick one. Just disappoint that I can not feel citrus and pasionfruit on me. For me, it is not typical beach scent, it could be easy worn on winter too. I tgought that the sillage could be better, but on the other side, more sillage could make ti too loud. 19 USD for 100ml is really bargain for what you get.

I am a douser, I have to admit. If a fragrance is strong, I douse a LITTLE less, but all in all I wear fragrances for MY gratification, not so much to smell good for others (with the only exception of my significant other, who, for God’s sake, loves my perfume addiction.) I don’t need to leave a big fume trail behind me, it is not about being noticed. The scent can be close to the skin all day, as long I can smell it and as long as it makes ME happy, that’s really what matters to me!
I feel putting on a fragrance just for others (I read the statement that you are not supposed to smell your own fragrance, as this supposed to be a sign of a good perfume), is like going to bed with your partner just for his gratification. So it is just not me, I am way too selfish, so I douse along without much regard for the people around me. SORRY!
But boy oh boy, when I decide to wear Jil Sander Sun Delight, I am SO much more trigger friendly. It reminds me of Pina Colada (and I LOVE Pina Colada) with a touch of vanilla. This is so yummy, I could gnaw on my wrist. Jil Sander Sun is my signature fragrance and my biggest love affair. Sun Delight is like Sun for Fiesta time, a great frag for the poolside. It doesn’t have the romantic spin to it like Sun, it is more peppy, outgoing, has a younger vibe to it and is more alluring. Sun feels almost like the older, more grown up sister of Sun Delight. Sun Delight is the more carefree one of them two. Longevity is greater than Sun and many other Jil Sander fragrances (I get 8 – 9 hours out of it without having to re-apply, opposed to round about 4 hour with Sun). I adore both beauties. SIGHT, SIGH, SIGH! Wonderful frags – not only for the summer.

Well, I have to say that Jil Sander keeps me surprising with her definition of SUN scents (I mean the whole series). I will test Sun once again; I tested it when I was a teenager and it smelled no sunny at all, but stayed in my mind.
Her Sun editions are unlike any other of other brands in my opinion. There is always tropical note (here frangipani) and a hint of tanning oil indeed. But always in kind of… severe form. Sun Delight is no exception.
I agree with kibbled’s review – there is a slight smell of pool changing rooms. It reminds me somehow of PE lessons in high school. This is how changing room smelled after teenage girls were changing clothes and spraying sweet deodorants!
I hoped it would be more comfy and warm, but it is severe and urban. A bit plastic, but I like it, it makes me think of “A Bigger Splash” painting of David Hockney. A little bit 80’s, when aerobic with J. Fonda was spreading on VHS tapes.
It lasted about 5 hours, people were asking what my perfume is. So it makes an impression. Also it is not tiring during warm days, so it definitely appeals to me!
zerocoolua – :
My first meeting with this was not pleasant, and I strongly disliked it. I thought it was strange, bitter and a bit aquatic for me. Later, I can appreciate it and even call it tropical. The chocolate is dark and bitter, the passion fruit is sour and tropical to me, together with the zesty citruses. As it wears on the chocolate gets mellower and the vanilla becomes more prominent, as the passion fruit stays throughout the whole stay. I can’t find frangipani in this, and I don’t find this floral or powdery at all. It’s surely a unique perfume. It’s somewhat related to Hypnose by Lancome.

I received a beautiful and generous package of samples in the mail from the Netherlands! Thank you Lyla Rose! I really love this community!
The sample of Jil Sander Sun Delight confirms that my fears of blind-buying this one were unfounded, and I should have trusted Jill as she has never led me astray!
Since I don’t really like thick, heavy, syrupy, foody, sweet gourmands, I was worried this might be overbearing for me. But it’s not at all.
What I get is “buoyant” citrus and passionfruit. By “buoyant,” I mean light, fresh, juicy, sparkling, deliciousness that I could actually taste. I am also not a citrus fan most of the time, though I have been searching for fragrances just like this one that will work well in Haiti’s heat, to freshen things up. This is that!
Of all the JS scents I’ve tested so far, this is the “youngest.” What does that mean? Well, I would wear this when I want to feel casual and carefree and playful. I would wear Jil Sander Jil Sander No 4 when I want to feel elegant, Jil Sander Jil Sander Scent 79 Woman when I want to feel powerful, Jil Sander Jil when I want to feel warm and down-home, Jil Sander Sun when I feel casual and informal, Jil Sander Jil Sander Bath and Beauty when I want to feel fresh and energetic, Jil Sander Sensations when I want to feel happy, and Jil Sander Style Pastels Blush Pink when I am feeling shy and bookish. To me, each Jil scent has its own unique personality for a particular time and mood. Sun Delight is closest (IMO) to Sensations, but it is lighter and more sporty than that.
After several minutes I start to get the chocolaty vanilla musky warmth that make this more than just a fresh fruity scent. It is this interplay of the notes that is the genius of JS scents, and Sun Delight does not disappoint. If I knew what mignonette smelled like, I could probably detect that since there is a lovely sweet floral at the heart of this. As is, I detect the more familiar frangipani and orchid notes in this part of the development. This is a tropical scent for sure. I could image a suntan oil smelling like this. I could also imagine this being the scent of breakfast of chocolate danishes and vanilla tea in a tropical setting.
Nothing takes over. Everything works in harmony, and each note bides its time to reveal its beauty. At the very depths of this scent the woods come out. They are overpowered by the blossoms in the vase and fruit-laden trees surrounding my imaginary breakfast nook, but they are there ever so slightly. If there are notes to be lost, these would be they, but instead of losing the wood and cedar notes, I feel as if the scent is grounded by them.
Then again, it’s been a short time that I’ve been wearing this, and time will still tell in the drydown if more is to be revealed.
For now, this is a winner. A very beautiful Jil Sander scent!

I really like this. It’s not fruity on me at all ( that’s a great thing ), rather sweet and powdery. I don’t think it’s a summery fragrance. It definitely resembles a lot of Trussardi My Name. On me these two are absolutely interchangeable. I get white flowers in this. Longevity is average for an EDT and the scent lingers close to the skin. I have a big bottle and definitely will get one more before it gets discontinued.
B-boy-MD – :
Old suntan lotion, mixed with sea-spray and a very strong hint of swimming pool changing rooms combined with frangipani. Interesting rather than nice.
vladislas1976 – :
My sister has recently bought it and I have to admit that I’ve fallen in love from the first sniff! I was looking for a perfect tropical/beachy scent and was thinking of buying Lempicka Elle l’aime as it smelled tropical but I hesitated because it was quite heavy. Now that I know Sun Delight I am sure I’ve found my perfect summer scent! Despite the fact it stays on close to skin for only about 3-4 hours I don’t mind it because it is quite cheap and you can always keep it in your purse!
Leo_Nardo – :
Smells to me like creamy (white!) chocolate, sun lotion and frangipani, very comforting with delicious gourmand qualities.
unisaev – :
Orshi – I had it and for me, the smell was just the same as Burberry’s Brit edt. But longivety was too poor, after hour or two it’s gone.
humanetigor – :
Nice clean tropical vanilla scent. Frangipani and citrus secondary to vanilla here. Classy summer time beach in a bottle perfume. Evening dinner and/or dance, perfect for those occasions. Somewhat sweet, and for all age groups. I find it more grown up than most beachy perfumes outthere. This is a great buy to be:)
I find Jil Sander’s perfumes unique and I like the style it projects. It’s nice to have designers from all over the world, that can create those amazing scents that withstand the test of time and prove their quality such as JS.
nurullov_rinat – :
Very light, very very weak fragrance, After ten minutes , you must hardly try to find some hint to prove somenone( even to yourself ) that you sprayed a fragrance. You can buy cheaper edt’s from avon or bbw instead of that.
peace-death – :
Still a bit confused about why I bought this one some time ago.
I had some giftcards from the perfume store (oh heavens!) so I could buy myself something nice ‘for free’. My mission was to find a nice summery scent.
I remember really liking this when I tried it. Tested it on my skin as well, even kept a paper testing strip with Sun Delight next to my bed for a week.
Convinced this was my next favourite scent, I bought it.. And almost immediately it sort of annoyed me. Still not sure what it is, but some dominant ingredient keeps shouting at me causing headaches.
With other scents (like my beloved Narciso For Her edt), I mourn how people can still smell them on me while I can’t.
With Sun Delight however, I smell it on myself ALL THE TIME even when applied with a light hand. I can only imagine how the rest of the world must suffer 🙁
Now in retrospect, considering the notes, choosing this perfume never made any sense. I generally don’t like sweet and fruity.
Guess I did succeed in choosing a summery perfume – just not for me. So, anybody from Europe interested in swapping for about 60 ml. of Sun Delight?
sns589bedyWelty – :
I always kind of liked the original perfume but never bought it because it was a bit “too much” for me. When this perfume was launched it was the perfect “different” version of Jil Sander Sun for me. It is now my favourite summer perfume for hot days…
And i have to agree with other comments, I also got a lot of compliments for wearing this perfume…
Mehhn330Diobtetty – :
Hm this is more off a body splash then a perfume on my skin. a summer fresh fealing , hot skin, tropical juice, a refreshing warm scent.
at first when i spray i can hardly detect anything. i have to smell realy close to smell anything at all. there is a slight masculine feel at first. then it settles more into warmer more feminin stuff. i can smell this notes, chocolate , vanilla , frangipani, bergamot ,woody notes and a slight hint off sweet passion fruit. a nice enough blend if you want to smell nice on the beach or in a realy hot hot weather. But imo this is a bit boring and weak for a perfume.
nothing special
Gusein – :
I love sun delight. It’s very soft, sweet and I always got compliments when I was wearing it.
woonder – :
i think it is sweet and powdery. i agree that it has nothing in common with the original sun, but i to me it isnt a bad thing. it is one of my favourite scents. it lasts all day long and it is really inexpensive.
Tupoutfip – :
I couldn’t find much resemblence with the original Sun. I found Sun Delight way too sweet-watery and not pleasant.
ProHomMaster – :
I like it, but I must admit the scent is very soft and stays close to skin.
It’s sweet, a kind of gourmand oriental maybe. Very feminine, soft but a bit boring. Unfortunately my sample comes to an end and I have to buy a bottle 😀 It so happens that chocolate with frangipani and vanilla are pretty here, even though the fragrance doesn’t develop much. I find Kenzo and 5.40 p.m in Madagascar similar to Sun Delight (even the bottle is in similar colours), but Kenzo’s fragrance has much better sillage and lasting power compared to Sun Delight and smells better, high shelf ingredients… A bit similar to Sun Delight is also Puma Animagical, but that’s a lower shelf.
tsh469speagoessenda – :
I got this fragrance as a birthday gift in far 2006, so I’ve thought I should review it before it gets finished (just few mls left).
Sun Delight, as the name itself suggests, is as first a delicious and really pleasant summery fragrance.
I’ve learnt to know and appreciate many of Jil Sander creations for their soft and not overwhelming approach, and this fragrance is not an exception: yes, it could vaguely remind me of a suntan lotion (not the tanning oils coconut scent, of course), but I mostly perceive something like a gourmand attitude in the whole developing of this EDT: Sun Delight recalls those exotic juices one could drink on a July late afternoon by the sea, while the marine breeze caresses your skin and the sun leaves its last rays on the sand.
The fragrance welcomes me with an energizing and pretty intense opening of bergamot and passion fruit (whose smell, to be honest, I didn’t know before discovering this scent and reading the olfactive pyramid).
Citruses sourness tends to last few on my skin, gently evolving into a sweet and fruity vanilla cream blended with frangipani petals and hints of chocolate that finally brings to a vanillic-musky drydown.
This juice definitely belongs to the group of soft and casual medium-sweet fragrances: it doesn’t necessarly mean poor sillage/longevity, but I can only detect weak trails on me after few hours (maybe that’s due to the fact it melts with my skin and the body lotions I use to wear).
In the end..this is not a “wow” scent in my collection, but I know I’m gonna miss it. I’m sure.
Plus: Sun Delight is – a bit surprisingly – the most complimented summer scent I’ve ever had/worn 🙂
БАNDерOS – :
Agree with nathalieZ -it smells like a suntan lotion (no, these can smell great sometimes – actually it’s more like self-tanner/bronzer). It has synthetic feel to it, however not completely unpleasant. I can understand how people might like or even love it, but I say – no, thank you!
abascashysice – :
I bought it after it was launched, it was love at first smell 🙂
I was living in Germany/Stuttgart at that time and I wanted to have the feeling of being at the beach in that dry city and even looking at the bottle was enough to feel the spirit.
When I wear it I feel like being at the beach at sundown, and wearing a light white dress and going to a beach party, latin music in my ears and sand and tropical coctail scent on the air.
I spray it usually on my neck close to my hair and I always draw compliments, once a night in the club with a big group of friends someone grab my hair and smelled it and said that I smell terrific.
Always have a bottle in my collection. Definitely love it!
JokerArsen – :
While it didnt make a big impression to me at first , I decided to buy it because I found it simple and sexy.. However, when I have it on me, people always ask me what I m wearing so I guess it is quite impressing after all!

it s like im oiled up by the azzure beach sun taning and soaking my feet into the sea…ahhh what a dreamy fragrance
