I decided to buy this perfume because it was an”oriental” perfume, and the price was right. I do enjoy wearing it but I don’t care for the base notes. There is musk in the base notes, which I really dislike, so I don’t wear this one very often. On me, the longevity and sillage are practically non-existent, but, since I don’t like the dry-down, it suits me ok. I like to call it “Island Girls” in my pitiful translation, and that suits me, too, since I was living in Key Large when I bought it. And, I love the pink bottle!!, so it’s an all around win, I’d say.

It took me a long time to consider buying this because it was a expensive purchase, not to mention a foreign one at that. In theory, this should be similar to Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme but it really it is not. Theres the opening of a spicy note, probably the anise that makes it aromatic. I expected something fluffy, soft and sweet for the marshmallow but that comes out later and becomes a much more well rounded sweet but mature fragrance. It embodies what the fragrance title is called, sugary but chic enough for anyone to wear.

I bought a 5ml decant of Filles des Iles Sugar Chic from Surrender To Chance for only $2.99 and i am happy that I did. Sugar Chic is a cuddly, sweet, soft spicy vanillic, powdery concoction. The star anise is definitely there in a friendly way, and the vanilla is more marshmallow than vanilla pod. It can be a bit cloying even though it is quite light in scent (just for a heads up.) Sugar Chic is very nice, the only fragrance in my wardrobe that it reminds me of is Lolita Lempicka the original, without all the oomph, just the dry down and anise feeling. It certainly deserves more recognition here though!

Similar to the new Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme, but fresher. Might be worth tracking down if you love gourmands. This brand isn’t widely available in the US.
The marshmallow note comes off more “crunchy” than fluffy. Like Lucky Charms marshmallows. Then there’s sugar. Also of the “crunchy” variety.
The base features a pleasant, somewhat aromatic blend of bergamot & star anise. Unique. Keeps it from being a Pink Sugar clone.

I love it : so yummy, so delicious ! If you like vanilla and sugar this fragrance is for you. At first it reminded me of Loverdose – Diesel then it became less provocative than Loverdose. It’s a sweet and delicate fragrance which has a good lasting power. Not expensive and good quality. I purchased 3 Filles des Iles fragrances and I absolutely want to test all the other ones.
