Description

Success has been introduced in 2013 as a new fragrance by the house of Bond No9 which is as sweet and alluring as dollar sign. Success breaks all the rules of romantic fragrances and just like money, the fragrance is universal (for both sexes).

The fragrance is constructed as spicy-gourmand; it allures and intoxicates the one who smells it. Top notes introduce spices and citruses: mandarin, lemon, coriander and cardamom, leading to a heart composed of honey scents of tuberose and rose spiced with gourmand accords of plum and pimento. The base provides an oriental tone with a combination of vanilla, patchouli and amber.

The bottle has the same form as all others from the Bond No9 collection, with illustrations of dollar sign ($) in various colors. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml EDP.

I tried this and wasn’t overly impressed. I think the weather is too warm for me to appreciate. It kind of has an old lady smell with this.
Longevity and Sillage are really good. The smell is what I can’t get past.
I’m glad all I have is a sample. This is a pass for me.

Dominant notes are amber, rose, vanilla and cardamom. Had high hopes for this but it’s really boring. Smells like baby wipes and honey. Very powdery. Smells like a baby and an old lady all at the same time. I find it too sharp and powdery to be gourmand and I don’t think baby wipes would taste good at all.

yes it’s close to a feminin frag but men can use it in cold winter days. it won’t be a problem i think. unique and classy, be carefull not to spray on too much

I have to say, I don’t find this unisex. The beginning could though. Heavenly sunscreen with white florals. Instantly it turns into a dressy and rather heavy old lady floral. And I’m not one to think anything floral is old lady. This just has something to it that is commonly smelled on the eldery. Theres nothing wrong with that. Very expensive for what it really is. There are perfumes that could upstage this fragrance at half the price.

This is in my top 5! it’s not loud or offensive at all. Sweet, refined and unique. I’m a guy but it works perfectly with my body chemistry. I always receive compliments when I wear this. It’s definitely my favorite of the Bond no 9 collection so far.

a feminine good floral with staying power, not unisex at all!

My first impression of this was vanilla with a light undertone of brand-new vinyl shower curtain. Does that make sense? Something about it made the vanilla slippery. And then I get amber and some citrus. Yummy.

Kris919, I agree….some even turn to molten metal on me. Although I do like New Haarlem in the dead of winter. It is syrup a bit on me, but a little more than just that. But I think you’re dead on with the others. Chinatown the best by far!

    whatever Bond.
$190 for a 1.7 oz…you’d expect to be totally blown away. I really don’t get Bond. I’ve been ordering them with high hopes, trying them, being disappointed and returning them for 2 weeks now. This is the final one. I give up. The intrigue I had in this house is officially over.
Success(non andy version): seriously boring vanilla.
Lexington(non andy version): nice scent, but way too weak and faint.
So New York: weird floral chocolate.
New Haarlem: where’s the coffee note? I don’t want to smell like citrus lavender which morphs into a light maple syrup.
I love NY for all: bitter and peppery.
Manhattan: cloying & suffocating dry woods/gingerbread combo.
    Coney Island: CK one.
    Chinatown: bubblegum
    I think we’re done here.

Very sophisticated perfume I like everything about it except for the dollar signs on the bottle, being somewhat tacky. Well you have to look past that because if you don’t you are missing out on one of the greatest perfumes ever.
It’s definitely along the lines of Shalimar, it has that high quality , sophisticated rich feel to it. It is however more modern than Shalimar ….Heavy vanilla ,iris amber patchouli scent. With a citrusy top note. Nice rose in the middle with iris and tuberose. The spicy ness comes from the nutmeg, cardamom and coriander. Quite fantastic!!!
I do not find it smells too gourmand at first, its a spicy oriental yet the dry down resembles vanilla ice cream just a little but its much more than that and if its ice cream it’s definitely gourmand ice cream with a little liquor drizzled over it spiced up with some cardamom . Classy stuff !
It is approaching my top shelf !

As already said by THEREALJWIL, this in fact IS the EXACT same fragrance as the original Warhol Success is a job in NY , I have received the answer directly from BOND just a few minutes ago.
Quote ” Earlier this year,we replaced and renamed all of our old Andy Warhol products. What was known as Andy Warhol’s Success is a job in New York is now known as Bond no 9 Success is the Essence of New York .They are both the exact same fragrance, we just updated the packaging and name of it. ”
    There you go:)
So all of you lovers of the older version, worry no more , the bottle is even nicer now!!!

A warm scent, that sticks to the skin and isn’t too loud. In the beginning of this I got citrus and powder. But then it got sweet, and floral. It totally transformed from opening to dry down. The opening is masculine but the dry down is too feminine for my taste. Try it.

My Boyfriend just bought me a bottle and I love it! It’s like a spicy Shalimar. Love, Love, Love SUCCESS!

@THEREALJWIL – it’s slightly different, the removed iris, benzoin and a couple other things, and added amber. I think this one is a bit more masculine from what faint memory I have of it, compared to Andy’s version of Success. I like Andy’s version, but wearing it feels a little too feminine for me. I want this to come out enough for samples to be made, so I can give it another round, but I remember liking this one a lot just from a spray card test.

I saw this in stores, it’s so new it’s still not on Bond’s web site, and I’m hoping sample vials end up coming out. Sprayed on a card, this was an awesome frag, it’s in my list of debating between that and Andy Warhol Success, and regular NY Andy Warhol, which I also wish had sample vials. Still, a really nice scent, nice enough for me to keep it in the back of my mind, and I need to find it to wear a few more times, without sneaking into my Saks Fifth to keep spraying myself, lol.

This is the same composition as the original Warhol scent….the contract is up to use his name so they changed the bottle and just call it success now….
