I had received Sport Scent for Xmas as a freshman in high school (1981), although I really wasn’t into fragrances as a teen. I still have the bottle, along with all of its plastic puzzle piece-like attachments, but the sprayer stopped working a loooong time ago, leaving it nearly full (and truly vintage).
I recently got around to decanting the bottle into one with a working sprayer. Having been probably 35 years since I’ve smelled it, it’s like getting a new cologne. And no, it hadn’t gone bad.
The Jovan Sport Scent I now have is a green and very oakmossy cologne, with a noticeable lavender note and just a hint of cardamom to sweeten it a bit. There does seem to be a brief floral presence in it, and dries down to have a nice soapy quality. But for the most part it’s along the same lines as Sung Homme or Polo without the leather.
