love it…..very refreshing

This is an aromatic oud-fougère. Lavender rules here. Unusual, yet beautiful dark concoction.

Very sharp amalfi lemon opening. Later it softens and gives room to lavender, tonka bean and oud. “laundry detergent” and “nailpolish note” descriptions are unfortunately match with my experiences. Not my cup of tea for sure, but that is fine, because Montale has a nice selection of fragrances. They are not afraid to come out with something new. It might be a really great scent on somebody else’s skin. No blind purchase recommended!

Opens with a nailpolish note, then quickly delivers lavender, lemon and rosemary. Lemon then grows legs and starts to dance in the spotlight on a stage of cedarwood shavings.
The oud in this is fairly soft with a bitter undertone and adds an interesting dimension. Sliver is really not that bad, rather different and I find I keep sniffing my wrist to inhale the earthy, lemon scent warmed with seductive tonka. It’s almost like a lemon souffle with a pinch of smoky nutmeg and cardamom.
I don’t think I would really ever wear this, however I do find this strangely compelling and comforting.

I love Oud but I don’t know why I find Montale’s Ouds are all pretty much the same. This one has a dominant lavender note (together with the ever dominant oud) that make me think of an old, rancid laundry detergent. As usual in Montale’s fragrances, longevity and sillage are great but this one is definitely not “my cup of tea”. Sample first or directly jump to Aoud Musk.
Rating: 6.5-8/10 (depending on how you like oud and lavender together)
