I own Dioressence in the Max Gavarry formula and I do not take in the “similarity” with vintage Sikkim parfum . Sikkim is way less warm than this Dioressence and it has a strong leather note , not a suede like note but a Bandit / Cabochard leather . I love this kind of chypres !
I agree with Beaufort : it is a must try for leather chypres lovers .

Love at first sniff! Today arrived my miniature of vintage Sikkim 1971. Smells very dated to my nowadays nose but this is such a beautiful vintage chypre – in the line of Miss Balmain and Dioressence. A timetravel back to the end of 60’s, beginning of 70’s. Totally different from our current perfume taste, the sillage is strong but lingers close to the skin. Why don’t they produce perfumes like this anymore, small amounts and for collectors only?

I managed to find a bottle on ebay for a modest amount. Its an absolute beauty – sharp and mossy with that skanky leathery base. It lasts all day and for days on clothes. Its on a par with Vintage Diorella but its twin is really the Vintage Bandit. Glorious and well worth scouring ebay for such rarities.

Vintage Sikkim extrait is on my skin a twin brother of Jean-Louis Scherrer edt.

I’m far from an expert on these classic, mossy chypres, but to me this smells like the baby of YSL Rive Gauche and the original Miss Dior.

A very underrated perfume.
In my view a masterpiece !!!
It contains that same slightly skanky, leathery note that’s in Bandit.
A must try for leather fans.

The vintage extrait = almost twin of Jean Louis Scherrer edt (new or vintage JLSh,as they are the same).
