Tried many of Armaf fragrances, some of them do not smell high quality, others have some quality to them, Shades is one of those quality fragrances from Armaf that I really enjoyed!
Unfortunately, longevity is not so good with mediocre projection.
Smell-wise, it’s one of the best (to my nose) among other Armaf fragrances I tried, it’s warm yet fresh, fruity, flowery, woody and spicy.
Never smelled Mont Blanc Individuel so I can’t tell if it’s similar, but I own YSL La nuit de l’homme which I can say it is somewhat in the same genre, Shades is fresher and spicier though.

Would anyone say this is fine for indoors if not any other armaf. Thanks

    Update
I sprayed it today on a very cold day and the good Shades was there. Like Individuel (a favorite), but spicier and more prominent pepper hints and plummy fruit. It IS good, but inferior to Individuel. The Mont Blanc is a better scent, but Shades is very good and smells like real quality. I detect no similarity with PR Black XS.

It reminds of Mont Blanc Individuel, but not as good. The viole note give it a bitter edge. The smooth slightly sweet spice of Individuel or Santal is replaced in Shades with a bitter woody bite. This is unpleasant. Italiano Nero is the Armaf that smells like Black XS. It is nice. This is not and smells cheap.
There are great Armafs: Tres Nuit, Club de Nuit Intense, Derby Club House, Craze, Just for You.

This fragrance, at least my version (Made in France from 2015), lacks strength and smells very low quality as a whole a few seconds after opening. It has that “dollar store fragrance” quality to it until it dries down. I own Tag Him Prestige Edition and Club de Nuit Intense and those fragrances smell pricy and are very strong and long-lasting. Shades barely projects and it dries down in 30 minutes to a skin scent that reminds me of the 80s version of green Skin Bracer or Brut de Faberge aftershave. It also reminds me of a “minty” piece of cedarwood. I do not recommend this fragrance.
At least it’s not linear and it evolves around three times in 30 minutes until it dries down. The initial opening is bright and beautiful. but seconds later it turns into a cheap smelling fragrance, which dries down to a boring, flat, “aftershavey”, generic scent that smells totally unrelated to what it smelled like in the beginning. I disagree with whoever voted that it smells like Tres Nuit. I got Tres Nuit (even more disappointing) along with this fragrance and they are TOTALLY different fragrances, like how a fudge brownie and a milk chocolate shake smell…TOTALLY different.

I blind bought this and I am very disappointed. I thought it was a Santal type cologne. Mine smells like pure sandalwood. No sweetness whatsoever. I also bought Tag Him (Bleu de Chanel clone) and it smells very sharp like cedar chips. My Club de Nuit smells amazing but these other two are way off. Has anyone else had that problem? I don’t get it. I’ll probably never use Armaf again except for CDNIM.

This is unique to most of my fragrances. I really love the opening. The plum note is one I’m really growing fond of. I haven’t smelled Paco Rabanne Black XS so I can’t compare. I do get some of Mont Blanc Individuel in here and some Original Santal. I also get some vetiver a la Dunhill Icon. Overall a very pleasing fragrance I am happy to own.

this is a fine cross between Mont Blanc individual 30% and La nuit De L’homme (70%), longevity is moderate, 2-3 hours, but if you love those two frags….look in to this, good fragrance, worth the money

I quite like this perfume. Don’t know if it’s similar to Original Santal but it’s very unique and pleasant. However the projection and longevity are very average.

Have not had a chance to try Creed – Original Santal yet to compare the two, however this scent on its own is absolutely beautiful, to my nose i’m getting a cross between 3 different frags, definitely getting the Joop – Homme vibe from it mixed with a little Davidoff – Adventure (in the opening) but possibly a little more than the others a bit of Dolce and Gabbana pour Homme (I haven’t had a bottle of this since it was sticker version, so this may have changed slightly).
Over all the scent is great value for money and is of the usual high standard juice we have come to expect from Armaf.

Smells kinda like Mont Blanc Individuel..
It is sweet but not as syrupy sweet like Joop.
The note breakdown is more similar to Paco Rabanne XS and Creed Himalaya Water…it’s been a while since I’ve smelled both of these so I can’t give an accurate comparison.
    Longevity – 7/10
    Sillage – 7/10
    Projection – 7.5/10
    Scent – 7/10
    Value – 8/10
