Description

The fashion house of Chloe presented the first fragrance of its urban fashion collection See by Chloe in 2011. Its fresher interpretation entered the market in January 2014 as See by Chloe Eau Fraiche. In February 2015, this collection is joined by the new edition called See by Chloe Si Belle.

The new fragrance is announced as a fresh floral, modern and vivid scent that flirts with bold and intrepid accords. This limited edition reflects the smile, spontaneity and audacity of See by Chloe brand.

Louise Turner and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto developed this new composition of floral, sparkling freshness. The top notes include neroli and birch leaf. Its heart is dominated by gardenia, mixed with accord of orange blossom and laid on the base of white musk.

The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

For the longest time, I never had any luck with Chloe frag’s. Then in the last couple of years, they suddenly have worked for me, some even becoming faves..but not SEE BY CHLOE SI BELLE. This one just hits my nose in a bad way, and while the notes looked like they would either work magically or not so much, I found out I am in the “not so much” category, sadly.
First off, this is very light, even when sprayed a good 6 to 8 sprays (which I rarely do, unless I just can’t detect a fragrance). Now, that would be fine, given this is mainly voted a Spring/Summer scent, which usually translates to a light fragrance, anyway, but it is just too weak (yes, even given that I dislike this one, I am still trying to judge fairly).
Note-wise, I pick up the cucumber, rose, and I also pickup the smokiness, and then at times a straight-up vanilla/white floral peeks through and dominates, which is not unpleasant, if unoriginal and kinda boring. But I mainly pick up the rose/cucumber/smokiness here…so it just smells odd to my nose/on my skin. Pretty bottle, so I may hang onto this one just for the bottle, plus sometimes skin chemistry changes (hey, I used to not have luck with any Chloe frag’s, so I have hope for this one!! 🙂 ). But this one is just an weird one for me. Maybe I will be an oddball and wear this one in the cold months, and it might work some magic then. Will hang onto the bottle, for now, anyway. Funny how I like (love, actually) Chloe See but not Si Belle…Can’t win them all!
But I wanted to write an honest ‘gave it the old college try’ review, not just post “I don’t like this,” and not honestly review the product. I like to say why, and my experience with the fragrance, as well as notes I pick up and wear time/longevity/sillage.

I adore Chloe as a brand and enjoy the majority of their fragrances, particularly Love, Chloe and my signature Narcisse with its rich, syrupy pitted fruits and its decadent spiced floral sweetness. Si Belle, however, makes my skin crawl and my stomach turn and is the first perfume I have EVER scrubbed from my skin.
I’m so sorry, but this is nothing but screechy, awful artificial gardenia with a pungent, astringent, nose hair burning greenness reminiscent of a cheap air freshener or something equally horrifying. I am so upset because I tried to like this, but I simply can’t deceive myself.

Beautiful bottle with an initial burst of a touch of floral and a green sharpness that is vaguely reminiscent of the old Calyx perfume for the first few seconds. Thereafter, there is an indistinct odor of a sea of a hundred different spilled perfumes thrown together just to make another perfume –
copycat of everything already in existence.
Then, I often sensed Cascade lemon dishwasher detergent following me and a faint odor of a-dime-a-dozen cheap laundry detergents or fabric softeners common to laundry aisles in grocery stores.
I wonder whether the perfume makers just add a little detergent perfume to these newer perfumes because synthetics are less expensive, are abundant, and mimic any imagined scent. It just seems that the same fragrance oils in most cleaning products resemble a lot of modern perfumes – all from the same synthetic fragrance oil sources.
I wish that this were a refillable perfume bottle because the bottle is better than the detergent-like “perfume.”

This is a clean and elegant scent. The opening is slightly fruity, but not too much; the heart is floral (gardenia mixed with neroli), but not overpowering. It’s very well-balanced with green notes, which give it a nice freshness. The dry-down shows some wood and musk, but it’s still airy. All in all, it’s a very balanced and well-made perfume that is also versatile: daytime and evening wear. Sillage is good and has good staying power (on the skin and on clothes).

Once again I find myself at Marshall’s in their beauty department. As I’m doing a walk-by of the perfume tower, I saw this one and I bought it thinking it was the original See by Chloe. When I got home I saw at the bottom of the box the SI BELLE and I said what?? How did I miss that!? I’ve been able to use it twice and I must say it is very nice. It is a scent that I believe can be worn by a variety of ages and it fit so well without being labeled too young or too old. On me it is woody and looking at the notes it’s probably that birch leaf in it. It is floral for sure. When I smell it straight from the bottle it also has a clean scent to it almost like a very expensive laundry detergent. I’m probably crazy though and the only one that thinks that. The bottle is super cute! It is in the shape of a birdhouse and has orangey pink stripes running down it. So was it worth $24.99? Yep, smells good to me!

Dancing white floral combo on a bed of citrus. Very appealing and feminine. Perfect for an outdoor summer party.

It’s a heavily floral scent that floral lovers might love, but not so much floral lovers would find a bit overpowering. Something in this fragrance makes you think it’s an old lady scent. You should spray it really lightly to enjoy it. It’s a “little bit on the wrist and a drop on the neck” kind of perfume. I found it very similar to Wisteria from Crabtree&Evelyn. I totally feel the reviews on love&hate. This is the kind of perfume that might give headaches to some. Risky for a blind buy.

This reminds me of a leather jacket drenched in rose-dominated floral perfume. I’m a huge gardenia fan and why I can’t smell it in this fragrance, I’m not sure. This was a blind buy but I don’t regret it. I realize rose and leather aren’t a big part of the composition but it’s almost all I get!
It was quite bitter when I first sprayed it. I don’t find it subtle! I find it to evoke a dominant and perhaps somewhat standoffish femininity. I want to wear it when it is bitterly cold – in the heat it would be too suffocating. After a few hours on my skin, it loses a great deal of its bitter edge and becomes a more inviting floral. There is just a hint of warm spiciness that comes out under the flowers, which is a lovely sensation. It hasn’t lost its potency and it definitely won’t let me forget that I’m wearing it.
This fragrance is far more dominant than I prefer most of the time, but I am growing into this one. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but it’s what I wanted… if you can make sense of that!

It nice but quite strong on me. I prefer to wear it on a night out.

A fresh and “clean” scent, perfect for daytime or office. Light, Airy Gardenia mixed with Neroli and Orangeblossom. In base nice musk. The Birch makes it feel less syrupsweet in a good way. Timeless – perfect for teenagers and adult – who just likes white flowers/musk scent.
En fräsch och “ren” doft. Perfekt för dagtid eller kontoret. Lätt, luftig Gardenia i mix med Neroli och Apelsinblomma. Musken framträder i basen. Björken tonar ner de sirapssöta noterna från blommorna, vilket är bra. Tidlös – perfekt doft för både tonåringen och den vuxna kvinnan. En doft för personer som gillar vita blommor/musk-iga dofter.

I agree with the previous comment. I have a love/hate relationship with it, similar to Flower by Kenzo and me before. I have tested it over and over, but haven’t bought a bottle, as I am afraid to find later that I dislike it, after all (which is what happened between me and Flower by Kenzo). Hmmm… Should I buy it? Oh, well.

This perfume does so many strange things with me 😉
I like it and I don´t. I love it, I don´t love it at all. I put it in the darkest corner of my room and then hysterical try to find it again. I smell myself like lunatic and then hate it on my skin. I chase it away and then miss it. It has to be a real love he he

The opening is a floral smack in-your-face, lol. So so strong, I can definitely detect gardenia in there, but birch leaf and cucumber make this girl just a liiiiiitle bit more green. Then jasmine and orange blossom kicks in, creating this divine floral cloud over my skin. The dry down on me is a bit green but still very florally, jasmine and orange blossom are still there and they stay with you all the way to the end. Wearing this little beauty makes me feel like I’m taking a tour in a well groomed opened flower garden that has just recently stopped raining. However the flowers are not fully bloomed, somes are just buds, somes are starting to bloom. It is pleasant indeed, floral but not too overpowering. Very refreshing and absolutely lovely. Great for everyday especially spring.

To those who remember Absolutely Irresistible by Givenchy, this is very similar but with far less sweetness. I actually find it slightly bitter.
First tried it today, didn’t like the opening but the middle notes and dry-down are amazing. Might also be one of the few leather scents that actually suit me well. 😀 Big like.

oh what a wonderful scent. Got it yesterday and I am absolutely in love with. It`s so feminin and pretty nice, sweet (but not too) and fine, elegant and young, but also for Ladys in the higher ages. If you love Happy from Clinique, you will like this too.

It reminds me Roberto Cavalli so much, it’s nice but not a love.

When I tested it in Sephora I thought it too light and without much character. My skin amplifies all the flowery notes though and it became quite heavy on me, with orange blossom and gardenia and the inevitable bitter edge that’s so Chloe. I’m not sure I care for the composition, but it’s of higher quality than a lot of recent premieres from the light&clean category. It disappears withing 5-6 hours, and has moderate to heavy sillage.

Okay this smells EXACTLY like a flower shop or a lush garden. I would recommend this to someone who loves the smell of fresh cut flowers, or works in a flower shop… I think people would think you got this scent from real flowers, since it’s not too enormous and offensive. The scent is very pure white flowery, not soapy. Very nice.

At first it smells quite greenish, is it a birch leaf? 🙂 But after a while I can smell fresh floral notes, nice and refreshing. All in all, it’s pleasant fragrance for green scents’ lovers.

I generally like everything there is about See by Chloe. This is not similar to other flankers, but I like it too.
It’s rather well-composed considering, it’s all about white flowers. I sense all of them: neroli, gardenia and orange blossom.
It could be really sharp and bitter, but it’s not at all.
I find it subtle and elegant. More of a daytime scent of a serious business woman.
The birch note is really interesting. I sense it intensely for some reason and it reminds me of sauna at the countryside.
    Totally wearable great white floral!

When i sprayed this i was like i know this scent…this is definitely not something new. I had Elizabeth Taylor’s Gardenia and still have Pacificas Tahitian Gardenia. This is very sweet and the drydown is definitely musky with just a hint of citrus. Not for me unfortunately! Its a nice enough choice for spring for those who don’t already have a gardenia
laden scent. BTW where oh where is the leather?

  26. :

    3 out of 5

Ok this is a gardenia bomb , very floral and a bit sharp if you overspray
The Drydown is creamier , no neroli I can detect .
I is like Hollywood by Kors , nothing bad but a bit linear for my taste!?
Nothing like the original this is totally different
Classy vibe and if you don’t like florals don’t bother with it!’
I expected different it isn’t bad at all but not for me!!

I did NOT expect to love this one, but I do!
What a pleasant surprise, one of my favourite new launches of 2015. Has very little to do with the original, and, that’s great. Sure, there are ‘tons of white florals’ and ‘boring orange blossoms’ and a lot of things are not original – but hey, I have a gardenia-radar, and in mainstream scents gardenias are not trending at the moment. Not many new launches with this note. I keep my eye out on EVERYTHING new with Gardenias.
Opens very fresh, as if there were some citrus or abstract ‘apple blossoms’ in it (however, there isn’t), transforms into something in the likes of Chloe, Love Story for a while and then goes straight into creamy, massive, gardenia with heavy, smooth, velvety petals. Gorgeuous. This creamy, beautiful gardenia reminds me of the very drydowon of Marc Jacobs Woman or Collection Extraordinaire Gardenia Petale from Van Cleef & Arpels.
If you are into gardenias, like I am, and non-heady white florals, thiswill be just lovely to you. Well done, Chloe.

I totally agree with @marcelo19, I was hoping that in the version eau fraiche prevail water hyacinth, but unfortunately only at the beginning, it smells nice on water hyacinth, after half an hour again apple blossom and the scent is ruined. I hope that this version will be more beautiful.

Hopefully this will be better than the original, the apple blossom in that fragrance was way too much, but there is no apple blossom here, so this may be better.
