Description

Cadaques is a small town in Costa Brava (north-eastern part of Catalonia, Spain) in which Salvador Dali enjoyed staying. Sea & Sun in Cadaques is fresh transparent fragrance based on harmony of fruits, flowers and aquatic notes. The fragrance opens with fruity notes of kumquat, apricot and black currant. The heart reveals flowers – freesia, lotus and water lily. The composition ends with woodsy notes, musk and amber. The fragrance was created by Michel Almairac in 2006.

Fragrance -Sea & Sun in Cadaques Salvador Dali
    Bottle from – 2016
Sea & Sun in Cadaques opens on my skin with a gentle, fresh, citrusy, fruity and slightly aquatic apricot laying on top of a bit mysteriously romantic flowers. The best part of this fragrance is the opening.I wish it would last longer.
During mid development, after about 30 minutes, floral bouquet with dominant waterlily and with a wisper of a bit green freesia becomes stronger and a warm musky accord makes its appearance.
The drydown is all about musk with the tender trace of light amber and flowers.
Sea & Sun in Cadaques is a nice, clean, soft and subtle scent. However,if you prefer strong fragrances, this is not for you.
    Longevity – 4/10(4+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 3/10(soft projection for the first 30 minutes, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
    Weather – Best in summer
    Age – 18+
    Compliments – 7/10
    Scent – 6,5/10
Main notes according to me – apricot, kumquat, aquatic notes, freesia, waterlily, black currant, musk.
The drydown is musky and I get some -musk,amber and flowers.
    Emotions – clean,fresh,positive,pleasant,relax.
Occasion -perfect for sports activities, office, scholl, college and gym.
    Try before you buy.

I fell in love with the beautiful bottle, and after that with the beautiful fragrance. It is such a nice airy, watery freshness, it really has something from both the sea and the sun, for me it is the image of a beautiful sunrise somewhere near the sea, when the air is not too hot, and you can smell the delicate freesias in the garden and the kumquat tree.
It is lovely, not very long lasting, but for this price reapplying many times a day is not a problem.

It’s like “Perwoll” liquid detergent + salty fudge + freesia + black currant. Boring. I dislike detergent-gourmand-florals, it turns my stomach, for one second I think I could eat it, next second I want to spew it out.

Kenzo Jungle le Tigre for the under 30 ladies. Since the Kenzo is not really available this is nice alternative for summer. Highly recommended for testing.
    Kumquat heavy, yes please!

    Nice fruity floral.
Most of all I feel kumquat with apricot and freesia.
Light and fresh. Very good for the summer.

It’s a combination scent of Little Kiss Me and Sun & Roses
It’s a very unique aquatic scent
but not very unique if you are familiar with Dali’s

As a lover of Dali perfumes I confidently bought this fragrance blind. I opened the box and looked at the fresh glass cube with a hint of blue, it suggested to me something very light and aqua. I sprayed it and (I am going to be brutally honest here) it smelt of sick. The horrible smell quickly faded (thankfully) and I was left with a fairly clean scent. I wore it twice, but somehow there is something quite disgusting about it, one ingredient or chemical that makes it smell off despite the freshness. I think it is awful, I cannot bear the smell of it and I am shocked because I thought Dali had somehow created a magical formula in which I would love in all his perfumes. But not this one. Really shocked! Sorry for the negativity again but I need to be honest.

I would have liked to love it but I cannot. The opening notes too sharply synthetic, nonthing fresh around and a strange kind of sweetness out of nowhere. And when it calms down a bit, after some 15 minutes and some vague aquatic notes appear, it is already too mild, weakened and wimpy to catch any kind of attention. A fizzle in my opinion.

Incredibly delicate and unique smell! After few minutes of apricot overload you’ll get something not exactly fresh, not exactly fruity but young. It’s one of best antiage parfumes 🙂
There is one downside – longevity…

Чудесен летен аромат! Крещи:- Слънце,море,любов,море и слънце 😉

This does smell like the sea but there is some awful, chemical, artifial note in this fragrance that ruins it for me. I’ve forced myself to use this from time to time and on these rare occasions I get passed the artificiality but if I try to use it on longer periods the artificial note pops up and I just can’t continue using it.

i really adore this i just wish it lasted longer. i only get 3 or 4 hours max but the smell of this is soooo pleasant. not masculine in my opinion but i guess i see what other reviewers mean. it just smells like apricot with a salty/aquatic sour note. its just really fresh and perfect for spring and summer. it’s a fairly young scent but not at all childish. doesn’t really smell like light blue to me but its definitely in the same vein in terms of who would want to wear it and what its general vibe is. definitely worth picking up for the price. probably my best smelling blind buy yet although the longevity is disappointing.
edit: i just got moschino cheap & chic i love love and wow they’re almost identical.

The opening is quite strange, kinda bitter, almost like a perfume gone bad. I smell mix of citrus (kumquat) and wood (cedar). That bitterness very soon fades away and you are left with a perfect salt&sand fragrance with a hint of flowers. I don’t smell any apricot nor black currant. Sadly the longevity on me is 2hrs max, but it’s such a perfect summer fragrance.
EDIT: Was this reformulated? I bought new bottle and with this one I can only smell a lot of apricot and a bit of flowers. I miss that salty, cedary note.

  14. :

    3 out of 5

Plenty of apricot, but still it’s quite sharp, maybe due to freesia, lotus and water lily altogether. Marine notes are not listed, but I can smell something salty all the time.

  15. :

I adore this scent. It is aquatic and fruity. I can’t point out the different notes. It is sweet in a very tolerable way. Not boring, but sparkling. Get a lot of compliments when I’m wearing this one.

I bought this at the drugstore as I found a little 30ml for 5,99$ CAD! I wasn’t expecting much but a cute bottle to add to the collection. I was pleased though. I can’t find what it reminds me of, but it somewhat nostalgic. It could be the very popular “aquatic” smells of the late 90’s early 2000. The opening is a bit sharp, it might be the kumquat, but it settles very fast and I’m left with a pretty freesia (almost exclusively) scent. It’s bright and feminine.

  17. :

If I were to name this fragrance, it would be something in the lines of “Ode to Kumquat”. It is all about kumquat, from beginning to end. It does not have a sea or a sea breeze smell as the name could imply, but it is a sunny and softly airy fragrance. It screams summer from the moment you spray it. Obviously, that name was put because Cadaques and the Mediterranean Sea had a deep meaning for Salvador Dali but, regardless of its name, it has a very Mediterranean vibe. Soft but warm. At least, for me this smells like home – and I live by the Mediterranean Sea.
As for the perfume, it is weirdly beautiful. It opens with a green kumquat scent. I would picture plants and leaves and there, in the middle of them, kumquats. Then it changes to a sweet-ish kumquat scent, as if I were cutting kumquats open and its juice was dripping down my hands. I notice a berry and a different citric note, somehow. Rather than apricots, somedays I would say it smells like peaches. Other days it is sourer, like apricots are. Later, the flowers appear and it becomes a powdery kumquat scent. It is similar to the scent of Kumquat peels. This transition is made within two hours. It is a kumquat feast.
After that, it remains as a balmy and tangy skin-scent. The longest it lingers on my skin is up to 3 hours…. Poor poor longevity. And the sillage is poor as well. Only the first 10 to 20 minutes it seems to project a little, but not much.
Taking into account that I have to reapply it several times to last me a day, I almost never reached for it until this summer. I knew I would have to take the bottle with me and the thought of it annoyed me. The fragrance is beautiful and different, but it never seemed to call me from the shelf. Strangely enough, whenever I have worn it, it has made me feel happy and positive, so I have never regretted wearing it. It is also very inexpensive, reason why I don’t want to complain much about the longevity nor the sillage.
I wanted to finish this bottle by the end of this summer and it is after almost emptying it that I am writing this review. It is hard to come across Sea & Sun in Cadaques, but if I ever do and it happens to be summer, I might consider repurchasing it. All I want to say as a conclusion is that, after being abroad for some time, this scent has been a sort of reconnection to my homeland and I loved it for that.

I was going to blind buy this and now I am glad I didn’t. The opening is harsh, synthetic and absolutely masculine. No offence to all fans of this fragrance, but it doesn’t smell like sea and sun at all, at least on me. I like water lily, but in combination with lotus, it ruins the whole composition for me. I can’t smell freesia, apricot or any woodsy notes, just water lily and lotus. Definitely it’s a big no for me, but I can buy a sample for my boyfriend, I am almost sure he’s gonna like it.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

    SYNTHETIC FRESH
I blind bought this and thought it was ok, nothing particularly exciting. Found it to be a bit too synthetic smelling for my liking, and certainly didn’t get the “seabreeze” scent that everyone else is talking about, but then again everyone is different! Will keep using as a day to day fragrance.

  20. :

    5 out of 5

I love this bottle! (Normally I wouldn’t comment on just a perfume bottle.) But it is so, so cute. And the scent sounds so fresh and unique, the way everyone is describing it. I hope I get to try this someday.

  21. :

    3 out of 5

There is a very lovely synthetic rubbery note in this which to me brings the whole composition up a notch. I only wish it was stronger, on me it has a very weak sillage and lasts only up to three hours on skin.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

Opens very green and dry, redolent of celery root. Shifts into spice, wood, and smoky notes. The heart gives way to the black currant and lotus, beautiful, then as it dries down it becomes clean, salty, dry, floral aquatic, musky heaven. Musk is perfect. The experience is pleasurable and elegant, but of too short a duration (lasts about an hour before I have to reapply). I found this shared certain profile notes with Hermes Un Jardin En Mediterranee, the spicy dry version of an aquatic, but boasted a more potent floral accord Jardin lacks. There was a slight kumquat note in Sea and Sun in Cadaques when I reapplied the scent, but no apricot yet.

  23. :

I really love this as soon as it hits the drydown- very beachy and summery. BUT I don’t like it on initial spray. Theres something synthetic about it and slightly medicinal- but that fades quickly- has moderate sillage and longevity and of course the bottle is a gem!

  24. :

Tested and bught today. Very nice and pleasant summer scent, like it very much.
EDIT: So favourite summer fragrance. This is absolutelly “must have” perfume, a perfume treasure. LOVE IT, it is stunning ♥. 10/10 Great job!

This blind buy arrived this morning…What can I say…it’s GORGEOUS! Summer in Spain in a bottle..like a dip in the sea (salty note) after an afternoon on a hot sandy beach!
I chose it based on the comments of other members and I’m sooooo glad I did. Summer and holidays may be a while away but in the meantime I have Sea & Sun to bring me sunshine.. 🙂

  26. :

I ordered this in July and have enjoyed wearing it in the hot weather. It starts out with a citrus blast and then morphs into a slightly flowery, very ‘dry’ oceanic fragrance. The salt and sand are right there. It is really unusual and lovely, reminds me of an isolated hot sandy beach near an orange grove. This is so different and that is one of the reasons I love it.

  27. :

Lovely scent. I just ordered a sample. Longevity and sillage are not so goood, but I don’t mind reapplying it often. Gotta buy this soon! 🙂

This was a blind buy, and I had really looked forward to this. It’s a good perfume and it last a very long time. But I’m SO dissapointed!
It’s more masculine than I would have expected from a womens perfume. My boyfriend have had a mens cologne that smelled exactly like this.

  29. :

Nice, fresh, pleasant scent. I like it! Weak, but perfect for hot days in Spain 😉

I am a man and I love this one on a woman, it is so fresh and quality smelling, no one would be able to think it is so a cheap fragrance…great job on this one..wish they had sth similar but more on the masculine side….really a great value for the money that is really hard to beat!!!
Edit…Ladies, if you are wearing this, just let me know, I want to smell it on you….

  31. :

    5 out of 5

Pleasantly clean & musky. The initial blast is FREESIA but in the drydown I do begin to get the apricot (mild), watery florals and a bit of zing from the black currant.
It’s a nice safe scent. A good alternative to such aquatics as Light Blue because it has less of a sharp, woody character.
To me this is not a “beachy” fragrance, but it does recall the ocean in an abstract way. Sort of how Laguna is an alternate dimension tropical paradise.

This one smells like it’s name – sea and sun. Makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Lovely scent. It feels like you are swimming in the azureblue water in Cadaques.
Only downfall is that it is hardly noticable – not even for myself and I splashed on a loot just to feel this yummy juice.
Maybe it is my chemistry that eats it up =( !!
I might try if there are a bodylotion to layer with that might do the trick.
A wonderful sommerperfume when you are free and happy.

  34. :

this is the quintessential summer perfume. Stuck in the city for vacation? spray this on and be transported to your private beach. stand next to someone and the silage will bring them with you 🙂

How many different experience! peoples noses are so unique perceiveing by smell.
I’m using this fragrance for second summer and it really gives me an euphoric effect.
Won’t stop buying and must have for every summer. Well blending with summer and beaches 🙂
It has fresh frutty sweetness. Not sugary at all.
    You must try!

  36. :

    3 out of 5

Citrusy beach scent. Lots of zing-zang here with black currant, apricot, sand and watery hues. Soft musk, cedar and vanilla soften the fragrance. I find this scent quite dry, just like the sand; should’ve been called ‘Sea & Sand’, cause that’s exactly what it smells like.
Initial spritz is quite strong-“nasal sinus pore opening like”; in about 10 ish minutes it softens to “aha I smell da beach”.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

I have it and this one really evokes well the salty sea, is a great summer fragrance, feels very clear kumquat (orange dwarf) and then the middle notes (which are those waterflowers ). Gives a very clean and oceanic sensation.
    Very nice summer choice!!
Finally I must emphasize that the bottle is beautiful!

Suave dulce es perfecto para la estacion de verano. Este perfume es exquisito, lo recomiendo totalmente

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Just ok. Lightweight and likeable enough, but not a standout in any way, could not recommend. The citrus was a minor player and I initially sensed the cedar, which didn’t quite jive with the other notes.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

The great thing about this fragrance is the bottle, provably the best one i have but I agree with the other reviews it really is a cheaper version of D&G light blue smells sooo similar but when you compare them this one loses and even when I do smell that salty note that is very oceanic and makes this fragrance unusual but it also smells synthetic. I still like more Laguna from the Dali line.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

On my skin I don’t get any of the fruit notes sadly. On my skin the water lily and freesia are at the forefront.
This really does smell like the sea and sand. Somehow, it smells salty like a breeze right off the ocean. My X-husband and I used to have a condo right on the beach in Avalon, NJ and the breeze was fresh and salty off the ocean and this perfume takes me right back there.
This isn’t one I will wear very much, but, it’s very nice and it perfectly embodies the ocean.

Thank you all, perfume friends, for recommending me this fragrance when I was looking for a fresh, sea and wind frag.
I usually recognize the famous scents with “name” and think about them when I need a new perfume. This fragrance is something new and precious for me! Something old, something new.. and it’s blue too! 🙂
This is really fresh, light, slightly sweet sea wind on my skin. Lotus and freesia (I love them both). I’ve red it smelled like apricot jam, it doesn’t on my skin. It’s summer in the bottle, it’s like the first love- tender, stays close, radiant and leaves beautiful memories. Intimate, sensual, feminine, careless holiday scent. Love on the beach.
I think I will have it always in my perfume wardrobe.

  43. :

Dali has also made it’s own ‘Light Blue’ but this one is better – the black currant note brings a more refreshing feeling than the apple in LB.
Longevity is surprisingly good, it lasts appr. 6 hours on my skin, which is a nice performance for a primarily summer scent.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

I love this smell, it’s so fresh and clean. The bad thing is that it lasts less than an hour on my skin.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

My wife bought this blind, and we both loved it. It’s got to be one of the best aquatics available for women and has this unique, salty and refreshing ambience that makes it quite stunning in our opinion. Has lovely top notes of ripe apricots too. No complaints about the projection and longevity. Perfect for summer, especially holidays by the sea. Fantastic looking bottle and carton. I hesitate to recommend it as a safe blind purchase, but I suspect those ‘in the know’ will probably snap it up as a gem without hesitation whenever they find it.

  46. :

    Quick, proper review:
When I smell the spray, I get a whiff of sweet, sunny, yellow and summery notes.
But on my skin Sea & Sun comes out completely different.
At the beginning the fragrance is all about a fresh, cool and slightly tart blackcurrant surrounded by herbal (!) accords.
Where these herbal notes are supposed to come from, I do not know, but they are certainly there.
With time Sea & Sun transforms into an intensely floral-aquatic and cool lotus scent with a warm skin background.
The herbal accents are still there.
All in all this fragrance lasts about 3-4 hours on my skin with rather intimate sillage.
What remains after that is a lovely and soft scent of sunkissed skin.
The floral-aquatic and cool scent makes me picture myself at the beach bar at sunset: The sea breeze cools my skin while my feet are still buried in sand.
It might sound weird but this is what I get from Sea & Sun in Cadaques.

I’m a guy, and bought this as a gift for a woman after trying out several possibles and settling on this one. Not overly sweet, more of a dry fruity scent, and whatever is making that salty note is lovely
She loves it, and asked where she could get more. I couldn’t bring myself to tell her how little it cost
good longevity, nice scent, absolute bargain

Perfect match with summer; so light, fresh and clean. I never got tired of it.
Also a good present, I have never seen anyone who doesn’t like this perfume (+ it’s not an expensive one 😉

  49. :

I like this one very much, so light and cheerfull to wear when you like light fragrance on hot summer days and going to the beach.
Its starts for me with most of apricot and black currant, middle notes freesia and waterlily the most.
I was in Cadaques few years ago and it is beautiful and peaceful there.

Definitely a unique & distinct scent.
I couldn`t really smell it myself after spraying it on my body multiple times, but people around could ^^

I got this from the reviews I read and believed in. I’m awful happy I got it. I loved it but thought it was a bit weak. It’s a very natural scent. I have found that I myself can’t smell this but to everyone else I’m around, they smell it very well! It has great sillage and lasts forever! It’s never too strong or a scent anyone wouldn’t like, it’s the scent of sunshine on clean hair.

Sea and Sun in Cadaques is wonderful fragrance.
I bought it untested about 4 years ago and I was not disappointed.

Such a pleasant, juicy but not syruppy sweet scent. It’s a smooth flow of apricot black currant and water lily all the way from the top to the base notes and doesnt change a lot. I don’t get the salty note but there is definitely a pleasant aquatic feeling, like washing the fruits under a cold stream of water. Reminds me of my favorite Burberry Summer but it’s more tangy. The fragrance doesn’t change dramatically towards the drydown, so if you’re not demanding an overly complicated scent this is worth a try for the summer. I find it superior to all those sugar-fruit-boredom Escadas (no offence, escada lovers, they just don’t rock my boat). Highly recommended, along with Little Kiss Cherry. The Salvador Dali brand has some seriously good fragrances, that somehow tend to be underrated.

Such a gorgeous uplifting elixir!…This one is waking up with the salty ocean breeze on early hours in th morning…I don’t write this to being poetrycal but try it yourself, you’ll give me right.
Soo fresh, clean and revitalising without being greeny. And yes, this one is a prototype for “aquatic floral” category…Highly recommended…

Sea and Sun in Cadaques has been my favourite summer perfume for years now. It reminds me of sandy beach on a sunny and warm summer day. And when I look at the pictures of Cadaques (I wanna visit this place one day because of this perfume) I feel that the name suits perfectly for this scent.
I can’t describe any of the notes seperately here but altogether they make a very unique combination. It’s fresh, it’s sweet and it’s tart. And I just love it.

  61. :

This smells so fresh and very natural. This scent is so unique. I have never smelled anything like it. Overall it is a very well balanced pefume. Mildy sweet, citrusy and aquatic, I like it. ;’D And it indeed reminds me of walking along the beach and breathing in the aroma of the surf and salty air. This doesn’t resemble Light Blue at all, IMHO. Can’t fathom the comparison between the two. This perfume is ideal for the warmer months. ;’)
Edit: I actually do smell the chlorine like scent that another reviewer mentioned. o.0 This smells okay but is a little too light for my tastes.

For all those women searching for a “salty” fragrance… This one its a success! -at least on my skin 😀 –
Its a lovely, feminine, and sensuous fragrance in my opinion… not for use at beach… Its for go to every place “with” the beach on the skin.
    Its really beautiful and shining.

I agree with the previous reviewers. This fragrance is like an ode to summer. Fresh but subtle, aquatic and has something that “grabs” your nose quickly. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with Light Blue. As Trvevil already said, it really shares some similarities with Eau de Rubylips (I would also add Shiseido Zen Summer), but while EdR is like hiding in the shade from the spring sun, Sea & Sun in Cadaques is more like walking along the seashore on a sunny and breezy summer day. To me the latter is purely about summer. This is summer in the bottle. Probably the gentle flowers give the aquatic feel to fragrance, and the juicy apricot (which is very noticeable here) reflects the sunny mood. I’ve never been to Cadaques, but looking at the photos I imagine, that there must be something that you can find in this bottle.
Try it out if you like fresh aquatic scents, apricots, carefree summer and S.Dali;)

I looooooooooooooooooooooove this perfume. The scent is sooooo nice!!! I’m always getting very happy of it. It’s not too light and a bit fresh n sweet. Great summer fragrance! Nice bottle too.
    Unfortunately I can’t buy it anymore 🙁

I love this scent….it really depicts summer!….fresh sea breezes, cocktails by the pool…I love the opening fruits, then the splash of aquatics hits you..finally the warmth of amber lingers……This one is a keeper…The bottle is soooo Dali…kiss kiss…. :o)

I’m with Trevil on this one–quite similar to D&G Light Blue, but in my opinion, not as well done and definitely not as long-lasting.
The start is very beachy/suntan lotion-y which is fun–especially in the dead of winter. As it warms up I’m getting a sort of apricot jelly note, which is not bad, but not what I am looking for in a summer scent either.
While this is not a future purchase for me, I do think that for those who love fruity/fresh/beachy scents, this should go on your to-try list.

This one smells like cheaper version of Light Blue on me- it has cedar in it in very large amount (well, at least on me).
Waterlily and lotus- a true aquatic fragrance, but why they put cedar in it almost all the time? Sea and Sun in Cadaques also has similarities with Eau de Rubylips. Well.. not my cup of tea.
However it stays quite long and has very adorable bottle. I like the color and minimalistic design

If you want to feel the summer breeze and the waves that touch your finger toes…THIS is the right fragrance. At first its only like a gentle breeze because of the apricots and the black currant that gives a touch of something intriguing. After a while I smell the water lily which fulfils the feeling of freshness and the lotus gives an exotic note, and finally the cedar brings something unexpected and sunny. When i put on this perfume i am dreaming nothing but of the perfect summer vacation on an island and the sand and wind in my hair.It is so light but yet with presence. And it si very delicate, you can feel it only if you’re close to the skin of the person.

So fresh and fruity. So strong but not overpowering. Cute bottle as well

So fresh this fragrance. Either the apricot or kumquat -not sure which, maybe both- stay through to the drydown, and it still manages to be softly floral. It’s wonderful for spring and summer.

I wanted to come back and edit this review. I really loved this one at first, but now a note is really bothering me. I use to get this beautiful ocean scent, and now I get the smell of a pool with too much chlorine in it. I would like to add my husband likes this one on me though and doesn’t get the chlorine note.

I’ve been so lucky to get this perfume as a present from the european friend of mine just a week ago. I loved the smell from the very first snif! Full of summer, sun, flowers at sunrise, love and pleasure.
