Description
“The Illuminum collection is for those days when you are in the mood for something exquisitely simple and stylish.”—Michael Boadi. The collection embraces 16 fragrances categorized in four olfactory groups (citrus, floral, oud and musk). Each group consists of four scents, while each of the fragrances contains eight carefully selected ingredients.
Scarlet Oud is the scent of oud or agar wood and its derivatives – smoke, honey, wood, green notes and mold.
It is available in bottles of 50 and 100 ml.
In addition to creating the composition, Michael Boadi designed all the packaging as well as the logo and the branding.
Scarlet Oud was launched in 2011.

I’ll be honest and admit that I bought this fragrance primarily for its wonderful and natural colour, as a blind buy. And with that admission, I was really unnerved by my first breath after spraying this one on me. I smelled earth and not much more at first, then after a minute the vetiver developed, then the oud, sweet and pure. This fragrance has actually helped me to understand so many of my other fragrances as it contains so much of them but in a seemingly more pure form. I also use Scarlet Oud to “dirty up” some of my prettier smelling fragrances. You don’t need much at all, sillage and longevity are very good.

I remember trying it awhile ago and was more impressed by the color than the scent..

This one is super edgy but in a way that is wearable. Smells to me of leather, rum, smoke, very woody. I really like it! Reminds me a little of Couir de Noir Beaufort but not as strong smoky more wearable.

This seems to me, a straightforward oud with vetiver. Soft, pleasant, medium to strong on application then down to a smooth woody oud for many hours.
I had the red fluid carded sample from Illuminum, so my sample was absolutely authentic, I can only suggest if you smell nothing, that your sample is not right. It’s certainly not “nothing”, at first it’s mostly vetiver then the oud comes in – it’s a smoky, earthy oud scent, completely unisex, not much civet, not too much honey, just pleasant to wear. I like it.

I received my bottle today :0) For the wood-lovers: this perfume smells purely of wood and I love it! It isn’t a bomb in terms of sillage. I’d say try a sample first before you buy. But it is a scent that keeps you in a pleasant cocoon of freshly made wood-cabin the whole day. I keep smelling my wrist when I’m wearing this one and that’s a good sign. I keep thinking “mmmmmmm!” when the scent is coming up in my nose. For me, this is a winner!

Mr. Michael, with such fragrances, your fortunes in this business can only go one way, downwards, downwards and into abyss.
I have never come across such a nothing of a fragrance.
A. smell – nothing
B. sillage – nothing
C. Longevity – nothing
Like there are microscopes that amplify images, I wish there was an odorscope to amplify the smells, and at a million x too scarlet oud would have failed the odoroscope.
Pathetic from beginning to end. It’s a shame that you scam people with such awful fragrances.
There is no point even trying to discern a note, as there is none and waste my grey matter trying to share what this idiotic EdP seems like.

Scarlet oud is, casually said, a ‘Vetiver Oud’, rather feminine, earthy, smoky, with green notes. And sexy.
The top note of Scarlet Oud smells of honey with a resinous undertone, but neither tacky nor girlish sweet as the honey-Micallef, and after a spicy, black pepper. After a moment, the top note overlaid with the heart notes, emphasized smoky, slightly animalistic oud, very earthy vetiver and balm and green notes of the balsam fir. Around 6 hours, the heart note has faded in the base remain warm, sweet-leathery, slightly animal notes (castoreum and little civet).
Scarlet Oud is an oud fragrance, which is determined by earthy vetiver, smoky, balsamic green notes. The aroma is quite complex, but not difficult, and a slightly erotic way animalistic.

The primary, and almost the only discernable note of Scarlet Oud is true oud. One of the “cleanest” ouds I have smelled. I have heard that oud oil is used as deodorant and the oud here is so clean smelling and gentle that I can now see how oud could be used this way. Love this one!
