Scarlet by Bud Parfums somehow went under the radar and was the last sample I tested from this house. It’s not as bold as some other Bud Parfums scents I’ve tried, lacking that strong, dominating one note. It’s a lot more subtle and less oily.
Scarlet smells very much like a chypre to my nose, having some similarities to Guerlain’s Mitsouko EDT. I am half inclined to say that there is definitely oakmoss in the drydown of this fragrance.
When I first apply Scarlet to my skin, I can detect lots of spicy cinnamon, green bergamot, sweet lime and a hint of ylang ylang smoothing out the composition. It’s a beautiful fragrance don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t have that ‘wow factor’ that I was after.
Scents like Rouge Pomegranate, Autumn and Jezebel have that really intense aroma which makes for a perfect fragrant oil. Scarlet feels more like an EDT instead of a concentrated oil parfum.
The longevity is moderate, lasting up to four hours on my skin. The sillage however is surprisingly soft, almost intimate.
