Description

The house of Dior presented Sauvage in 2015 as a modern aromatic – fougere fragrance for men. Sauvage Very Cool Spray is a new variant of this fragrance, which comes out in the spring of 2017 as a refreshing reinterpretation of the original in a convenient packaging.

Made to emphasize the freshness of the composition, Sauvage Very Cool Spray is neither a derivative nor a légère variation of the original. Its composition is enriched with a dose of grapefruit in the top notes, which makes it different from the first edition and gives it extra freshness.

The spray is practical for continuous spraying even when the bottle is turned upside down, as well as suitable for travel (described as “nomadic”) and eco-responsible. Dior Sauvage Very Cool Spray will be available as a 100 ml Eau de Toilette. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Demachy.

    Same as Dior Sauvage EDT.
    I can’t tell the difference.
It is cheaper but I think it sprays more so I don’t know what is more economical?
Redundancy if you already have a proper EDT bottle. I bought it out of curiosity but I don’t understand the point of this release?

Just bought this one today (I’ve tested it a few times over the past year, but never really did a full wearing)and wow color me impressed! It has all the good elements of Sauvage, and none of its annoying parts. In fact if you are familiar with and enjoy Mancera Cedrat Boise than you would definitely like this one, because it’s actually as if you combined that fragrance with regular Sauvage. It adds on to Sauvage’s fruity elements, while drastically toning down the ambroxan.
This scent does smell fresher and more spring and summer appropriate and I think it is a much easier version for some to pull off. Sauvage Very Cool loses that chemically heavy dihydromyrcenol and ambroxan heaviness and goes more with a grapefruit, lavender, and geranium structure.
I feel that this fragrance might be quickly dismissed by many due to its juvenile Axe like bottle design, so they may feel that Very Cool Spray is not an official flanker release, which would be a shame. It really should’ve been named Sauvage Sport or Sauvage Cologne and put into a normal glass bottle than I think it would’ve gotten the respect it deserves.
Performance is just as good as regular Sauvage(8 hours) or even more like the Mancera Cedrat Boise, which easily lasts around 12. A little goes a long way with this one, and the sprayer is similar to Axe, so be careful with the trigger. I actually think I will just decant it instead of using it the way it comes.

I’m pretty excited about this one. I could not stand the EDT, it was FOUL on my skin. I tried a sample of the very cool spray and it gave me a good masculine vibe. I ordered a 5ml sample to try out.

A GREAT version of a great fragrance, both materpieces IMO, once more DIOR shows it is a step above the rest of the designers, including gerlain, versace and even chanel. It is not the same generic crap we find in Invictus, dylan blue and stuff like that…with all due respect to those who like those ones…
The whole savauge line tends to be more mainstream…but who cares?, I am well passed that stupidity…if it smells good and it is nicely crafted like this one, then it needs some recognition…
an easy 8.5 out of 10 and to be honest, yes, it smells 90-95 like the original one…if you own one, I do not see the reason to own the other, at least you want to have more of the same….

I was looking for a new long-lasting sexy summer fragrance to buy. Tried different ones: Acqua di Gio’, Bleu de Chanel, Versace Dylan Blue, Guerlain L’homme ideal, YSL L’homme (all with their flankers) and many others.
The only one that really brought me something new and original is again my beloved Dior Sauvage, now in its fresher Very Cool Spray version.
It’s really 90% identical to the EDT, a bit more fruity, fresh and summer-oriented. A sexy, safe yet unique, compliment-grabber scent with monster projection for the first 3-4 hours and a nuclear longevity (at least 10 hours on skin). Definitely I really like this new sprayer, since it greatly improves the performance.
I finally bought it: for the price, none of the alternatives offered anything better to my nose.
Tip: I tried to layer Prada L’homme over this, since I am a bergamot+iris lover. The result is incredibly gorgeous and unique: a powdery, soapy, citrusy, ambery bomb with amazing performance that drives me crazy. Compliment factor still to be tested, but give it a try!

Is the same reformulation shit going on with cool spray. Bought an edt recently and it performs really bad. Considiring to get this one before it reformulates, if it hasnt already…

I’m really liking this one right now. I enjoyed the edt but sometimes found it to be a little too metallic. This one is a bit fresher with the added grapefruit and slightly more airy.
If you find the edt or even the edp a bit too much, try this one. It almost reminds me a bit of rive gauche.

    Morning Los Fragranticans
I picked this up on the weekend on spesh (-20%) – yay!! I like the “very cool spray” (how naff a name!) way better than both the regular EDT and the EDP (must be the grapefruit opening – I am a sucker for that note!)
Its first full outing was today here at work and I received a very positive comment, literally, within 5 minutes of application. It has softened a bit since then but I keep getting subtle wafts as I move about. It’s quite nice but, for now, I can’t really put it higher than that. For me, it lacks the spark that makes a good cologne great (e.g. Antaeus, YSL PH, Egoiste, Bel Ami, Terre D’Hermes, A*men, Cuir Mauresque).
I cannot imagine anyone being offended by this therefore probably a very safe blind buy.
I’ll revisit this review in a while and see whether anything changes.
    cheers n beers

    My favorite of the line.
The opening is where it’s at. Slightly brighter. Then the dry down becomes that classic Sauvage.
I’d love to be in on the company’s initial thoughts on the spray can idea.
I can just see them now…

It’s better in every way compared to the Original. Smells Better, Projects Stronger and Lasts Longer.*It’s pure fire- Smells like original Sauvage On STEROIDS! – with added Citrus.. Straight up Banger.. And strangely it costs less!!

This one is very lemony, very zesty. It’s way better than the original. It’s not a blast right at your face, cloying and all. The opposite: light and fresh.
The atomizer is too strong though. Amazing scent.

My favorite Sauvage version. Yesterday i had the chance to try out the parfum flanker, but it kind of disappointed me… I like this one much better or even the edt version. However, I’m not sure if this is worth the price because of the spray-can thing…

Just got this today quite nice. To me it’s similar to the original but certainly not exact. Less of the metallic feel and fresher on the opening and the dry down on me I get something similar to the dry down on Dylan Blue. Don’t know if a necessary purchase but I will enjoy it and enjoy taking it traveling. Also well suited to the really hot summer and spring’s I get here which the original Sauvage EDT for me is a little heavy this will suit nicely.

I bought this before I bought Sauvage Edt and I loved it so much I used up the flask within one month! It made me go back and try Sauvage Edt for a second time and now I love that too.
For me, this fragrance gem (9/10 btw) works best as a layered scent on top of the Edt for my long-commute to work, it’s longevity is great, but go easy on the trigger guys as it’s very easy to think of this as a body spray, but before you know it it’s gone – the best offering of 2017 for me!

  21. :

    3 out of 5

Beastly longevity on this one. At least 20 hours so far.
Perhaps because the propellants in the can pile drive it into your skin, and one squirt delivers a large amount of juice!?
I love this and the original.

I am very glad I restocked this one. I love this. I don’t really Like sauvage but I like it in this form of a spray. Put it in the fridge for an hour before you go to the gym. Then after your workout. That icy blast is amazing. And this fragrance is total beast mode. This is the only way I will wear Sauvage. I don’t like the standard edt.

  23. :

Yea Fuck the Dior edt, this stuff is $40 for 150 ml… 150 ml of edt is like $200…I’d say have a go with this first before deciding if you want to buy The edt… Also the edt is over priced and generic due to popularity. Nb obviously a body spray finishes much much much faster than a Cologne spray. So, maybe it’ll last you a month tops… Could be shorter. Idk I normally don’t use body sprays, I use deo sticks, but if you ever owned a can of Axe then it’ll last as long. But 40 buck’s is a steal.

Gorgeous spray system, practical container and it smells more alive, more vivid and playful than the original Sauvage. There are minor differences which can make a better impression. I like the Sauvage but I love this Cool Spray. But there is the same harshness with Sauvage.. the only minus. The performance is very good also.

This almost smells better to me since I think Sauvage is heavy and a little too much ambroxan-infused.
This is nicer in way, fresher and cool refreshing. Perfect to put on after the gym or when you go for a walk.
What it lacks compared to Sauvage is the extra omph that makes it sexier and more suitable for nightclubs.
    Very well done!

Younger girls (18-20) will like this more due to the light and playful garpefruit (If this is what your concerned). The regular Sauvage will garner more compliments from an older crowd (20+).

I finally tested this at Sephora. This is a nice cheaper Sauvage as the lone 100ml for $70USD which is the price of the smaller 50ml normal Sauvage bottle. That said, due to the VERY wide and continuous spray from the Axe/Old Spice like atomizer, it may last as long as the 50ml, if not less. That said the changes to Sauvage are actually minimal to my nose. I would get it but not in the bottle it has right now and it wasn’t as on the nose to Sauvage. YES, it is a flanker but it is a little bit too much on the nose to the original.

Was checking out a bunch of the newer releases yesterday. Azzaro wanted, Armani colonia and stronger than you, Calvin Klein obsessed. Was not left with a feeling of “must have” and was about to leave when i saw very cool spray. I already own the original sauvage, Prada luna Rossa carbon, bvlgari antlantique, and dylan blue. Did not matter, i instantly snatched this up.
Is it redundant? Yup. A must-have if you own the above listed? Nope. Is it extremely similar to the original? Of course. I love sauvage and all the above listed and yes, i bought this as an expensive body spray you could say. This has a fresher opening which i really enjoy. The dry down is not quite as creamy and metallic, and it lasts a long time. The way this thing sprays out is incredible. It practically blasts in a 5 foot, nonstop radius. Applying this is every bit as cooling and invogorating as the adverstising would suggest. A wonderful, refreshing way to re apply and great for a gym bag or travel.
Its a must have for me because i can wear all the fragrances i mentioned and have very cool as a body spray. When wearing sauvage i can spray the original on the pulse points and my chest and arms with very cool. It really works and smells phenomenal. A bit of a surplus and a luxury but so what?

This is better than original the beginning is way fresher dry down very similar but this has that touch of grapefruit that is very enjoyable if you like original and almost out try this
Sprays tons longevity 24+ hrs, sillage awsome, smell better than original they have improved upon love or hate just sprays lil to much is the only downside, will get you attention as well so be ready to answer some oh what is….. kind questions

with all respect for original Dior Sauvage, Very cool spray is too much higher than his father. Even more it can become like as Dior Homme intense, but at the fresh fragrance categories. Quality of juice is amazing ,but the bottle design makes it look like a cheap spray, however longevity and projection is better than Dior Sauvage and it is much more bitter and sharp. Very cool spray has liner and constant smell ,nothing will change from start to the END.

Cool Spray reduces its notes to a recoginizeable minimum.
There are some dupes that reminds me of Cool Spray. La R… is a very similar one.
As Sauvage this is a very refreshing summer fragrance full of Ambroxan. Sour 80 %, sweet 10%, aquatic 10%. Like a splash of lemon water.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

This is a fun take on the fragrance. It’s funny how some assumed it was a totally different flanker but the first time I saw this in the store I just assumed it was what it is which is Sauvage in a spray can. Can definitely be more convenient for travel and the spray works fantastic. I do get a tad more citrus up front but dry down to me is pretty much the same as the bottle version. Comments that it’s like a cheap body spray are just silly and I’m guessing from haters of the original lol. To me in pretty much every aspect it’s just a spray can version of the original. If you’ve got the bottle don’t likely need this unless it’s time for a new one and this application may be more appealing and, or convenient for you. Great for a gym or work bag. Cheers

This smells great. I can’t get my nose off the test strip. If I wasn’t so stocked up on this juice, I would have made the purchase.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

If you already have Sauvage, the best reason to get this is that it comes in a lightweight metallic bottle which is shatterproof and makes an excellent travel version of Sauvage.
Very Cool Spray opens lighter, simpler, and more citrusy than Sauvage, but it dries down to something so similar that its purchase can hardly be justified if you own the original.
I am a fan of Sauvage and haven’t purchased this yet. I am on the fence as I type this. If I do get it, the reason will be found in my opening paragraph.
Update: I succumbed to my whims and bought this. This has since accompanied me to a couple of weekend getaways. Doesn’t weigh down my travel bag at all.
Spraying from a full bottle that I own instead of a small sample, I am able to double down on my previous assessment that it opens noticeably different than the original. Big grapefruit blast. It’s beautiful while it lasts, but unfortunately you get the grapefruit for less than five minutes. It’s just a tease.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

The cute lady in the store said she loves it, and I thought the sprayer was cool so I bought it lol. It smells similar to the regular Dior Sauvage but maybe a bit more citrus in the opening and then smells slightly less “green” than the original the rest of the way. That may not make much sense but to me the original has this greenish almost musky/gassy aurora that this has less of. There is still a muskiness just less “green”. Maybe that is the ambroxin note I keep hearing about, I am not sure. I think this may have less of it but overall it is very similar.
Update: I am really liking the sprayer application. It sprays a wide mist that covers very well. I am not sure how long the can will last but I like it. Still smells very similar to the original, which is a good thing.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Can’t understand the negative comments! No problem with this product! I think, it is just a great idea to come out with an airspray for the summer season: in the hot weather it is much more pleasing feeling to apply your fragrance as a spray, much better than piercing-like EDT or EDP. I like it, a few shots, and the Sauvage-mist is covering my neck and upper-body, clothes. Don’t believe the skeptics: the juice is very strong, it is long-lasting, but by the nature of the air-sprays (or the mechanism of the deodorants), you apply it mist-like, so one unit of juice covers even larger surface. That’s it.
I have fallen in love with Sauvage by this formula, so for the end of the summer I am going to buy the EDT version definetely.
Is it expensive? Not even more, than the original: you pay a bit less price for 100 ml than the EDT version, and the juice is very concentrated, it is just equal to the EDT quality!
So go for it for hot summer days, to the office or garden partys, or whatever activity, I highly recommend Dior’s Sauvage very cool spray!!!!

So instead of “sport” or “fraiche” they are calling these kinds of flankers “very cool?” Not so cool, IMO !

  42. :

    4 out of 5

The first blast is a cleaner fresher version of Sauvage.
Unfortunately, the dry down smells like cheap antiperspirant spray.
Not worth the money at all…stick with the original juice.

  43. :

    Axe Bodyspray costing 70 €.
If this is of your liking, and you can afford it, go ahead. But there choices as good as this and costing much less at the deodorant section.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

no need a new fresher flanker it is already a fresh fragrance.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

WARNING!! This comes in a spray can just like any antiperspirant deodorant from AXE, Dove, Nivea…etc so I’m assuming you would finish this up as fast as any ordinary antiperspirant deodorant. It smells pretty much the same as the 2015 release but slightly more cooler/fresher feel I get out of this one IMO. Anyhow, if you have the original release I’d probably think twice before buying this one.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

FAIR WARNING!!! I called and talked in person to a sales rep at Dior, and he said, “This is Sauvage in a spray can for travel convenience. That’s it. There’s no new notes or anything in it.” I pressed him, telling him of what basenotes and fragrantica had revealed on their websites, but he insisted he had been to a training session, and the higher ups said it is Sauvage in a can, period. So there you have it. If you have the original, you have everything they have to offer. Only question is, do you want a bottle or a can of it? If what he said is accurate, then one work will suffice: Weird . . .

  47. :

    4 out of 5

As soon as you spray with the excellent propellant, it opens with a juicy and tangy grapefruit. The opening is reminiscent of Dior Homme Cologne, yet with the peppery backbone of Sauvage. After an hour it becomes the original with slightly handicapped performance.
This one is definitely less in aggressive, yet for the price and performance, the original is the choice to make. As Very Cool spray is an air propellant, you will probably finish the 100ml bottle long before you finish a 60ml bottle of the originator.

  48. :

    5 out of 5

Just tried it, as already mentioned
this is a more fresh take on sauvage,
i actually liked it a bit more as i do
get a headache from the original due
to its strenght. Sure this is a cash grab
from dior if you already own sauvage, but
if like me you find it to strong this might
be a good alternative, just try it at least.

Tried it today side by side with the original.
As others have said it’s just a weaker version of the original with some added citrus, which I thought made it smell even more shower gel-ish than the original.
The Very Cool feature of this is the sprayer, which is like a body spray but less ‘gassy’. It definitely has a cooling effect of sorts. If you live in a hot climate and have lots of dispensable income this might be worth buying.
Dior are trying to bridge the gap between EDTs and deodorants, but I’m not sure it’s a bridge anyone needs…

I have to admit I didn’t even know this was being released until I walked into Debenhams (to get some Dylan Blue) today and it was just sitting there !
I have to buy a Dior release as they are my favourite house by far.
I actually smell the difference clearly and get a lot of pineapple at the top. People love it so far but …… the one difference is that this does not last half as long as Sauvage on my skin. Maybe that’s the reason for the more carryable bottle and the cheaper price ?
Will be using it regularly though !
    Love it !

  52. :

    3 out of 5

Tested in my local Boots, I’d say that this fragrance smells near enough like the original, just with an added BDC EDP vibe (the grapefruit note). All in all, a pleasant fragrance with slightly weaker longevity than the original, but excellent projection for the first 2 hours.

  53. :

    5 out of 5

It should be called Very Sweet Spray.

  54. :

    3 out of 5

First of all the presentation reminds me of my bottle of Rive Gauche pour Homme Yves Saint Laurent for men. Tried it out in Debenhams and it was very cool on initial contact with my skin. Two sprays to either side of my neck and it was very strong for the first 2-3hrs. Its smells fresher up top than the Sauvage but it doesn’t last as long. the fact that is cheaper on price than the 100ml sauvage by £10 would justify the lesser performance quality and its more of a travel companion to the gym, holiday bag etc. You could say that channels travel sprays at 60ml for 3x20ml refils is poor value in comparison to 100ml very cool spray. All in all its ok if you are fan of the original but its not essential to buy

  55. :

    4 out of 5

Bloody hell this thing is strong. “small” spray to my hand (massive blast of juice actually) and I can smell it all around me as I’m wandering around a car park. Very similar to the other one, and with a prominent grapefruit note.
2 hrs later and it’s VERY much “quieter” now – seems to have dried down to a skin scent without much projection. Weird, I find the original EDT a beast which lasts 10-12hrs on me.

  56. :

I’m already looking forward to the fiery heat of summer with this monster blast of fresh citrus juice waiting to cool me through the days. It’s masculine, it’s cool, it’s fresh and it’s introducing a whole new concept to fragrances that (as a gym rat bloke) absolutely thrills me to bits. Stick it in your bag, work-out, and reward yourself with a heavenly dose of cool citrus juice for your sweaty endeavours. Very Cool Spray? Yeah man, it’s very cool indeed.

If you love Sauvage you will love this!
This is just a new way to wear fragrance. I’ve found its best to spray the ‘Original’ fragrance in the morning, and use the very cool spray as a ‘top up’ if you like. This is still a EDT, and not a deodorant. If you do your research on this then you will find that this is designed for on-the-go! Perfect for your gym bag. Its light weight, practical and eco-friendly.
The added Grapefruit gives more of a fresh-hit to the fragrance at first, and is cooling to the skin, but on the dry down, just smells like the amazing Sauvage.
For me, this is a win!

  59. :

    5 out of 5

This is Sauvage in a compressed can. I will stick to the bottle until it runs out. This is for the traveling man and I don’t like the idea of having my fragrance in a can. It should be cheaper just based on that fact alone. Overall good scent but redundant if you have the bottle.

  60. :

    4 out of 5

What’s up with the “Main Notes According to Your Votes” section?!
Why is everyone clicking on cedarwood and elemi to be the strongest notes when the description clearly states that it’s basically the original with added grapefruit?
The original is based on ambroxan with means this one is too. Because that’s what makes sauvage, sauvage…
Lets all just vote correctly for once.

  61. :

I’m not against it but just confused. So it is not an deodorant but also not a normal fragrances eventhough it has “eau de toilette” written on it. And it can be sprayed like a deodorant? But whats the point? I mean, i don’t dislike Sauvage but i just can’t pay 70€ for a deodorant which is meant to be “a very cool spray” with just 100ml! So is it a normal fragrances or just really a deodorant in the way the juice comes out? Because Sauvage already has an deodorant version?!?

Disclaimer: this review is not about the juice. But this review is about perfume.
I am discouraged by the trends in designer fragrances, and this release is the embodiment of my disdain. Houses continually releasing flankers to capitalize on fads, and when they do release a “new” fragrance it is unmemorable and says nothing. What happened to the days of designer icons like Fahrenheit and even Acqua di Gio? I feel like the fragrance world is only getting more bland each year, and niche houses are ratcheting prices because they know that real perfume lovers will pay anything to get away from this bullsh**.
Side note: “Very Cool Spray” … seriously?? That is such a lame title and, paired with the bottle, makes me think of a drugstore aerosol. Sorry, Dior. Please bring back the (properly formulated) classics and do something truly revolutionary by being an authentic designer house.

this is pure marketing. I would not buy a perfume just because it is slightly more citrusy !!!!!! absurd !!! but they think we’re stupid?

    Very Cool Spray… (?)
Never thought Dior came with this silly name.
What a shame! See this one really felt and miss much more the John Galliano Era (1999-2007)…

@Cubaknow hahah hilarious! I almost choked on my drink reading your comment lol.
@ghent good point it does kinda sound like a body spray as the description reads “practical for continuous spraying” even when upside down!

I actually thought this was more of a “body spray” that could be used to enhance the original in performance etc.
But this is an EDT, so it’s a fragrance on its own.
    Would’ve preferred Sauvage EDP

Has anyone notice the second sentence? Dior Sausage

Why would some people vote before the product even hit the market?

Wow, interesting move by Dior. It reminds me of what YSL did when they created La Nuit Frozen Cologne, basically adding lemon/orange/geranium top notes to the existing La Nuit DNA to create a more refreshing version suitable for daytime and warmer environments. Also, I don’t think anyone expected the name “very cool spray”. lol in English it doesn’t sound classy at all! Perhaps the french translation would sound cooler…
I’m honestly looking forward to this, the ambroxan in Sauvage is a little too amped up for my own liking, I’m hoping the grapefruit will help suppress and tame it to a level that my nose can agree with.

They added grapefruit and took out labdanum. Am I supposed to be impressed? How very revolutionary and edgy. I wonder if Dior thought “how much more can we make this like Bleu De Chanel? We have the magnetic cap, the dark blue bottle, similar smell oh wait that’s it! let’s continue to copy a 7 year old fragrance even more!” I won’t be surprised if there will be another edition with mint, ginger, lemon and incense.
I’m not impressed Dior, not at all. And after Raf Simons left for Calvin Klein and Maria Grazia Chiuri took over, I’m even more disappointed. Just look at the FW’17 collection that just came out. Hideous.

is this for real? Very Cool Spray? x’D ahahah so cheesy, I thought this was a joke lol

Remember that Dior belongs to the LVMH group and they are the ones that establish the commercial policy of the company.

I was expecting a Sauvage Intense to come next, but this? I guess it’s Dior’s response to Chanel’s Bleu De Chanel Travel Spray. This has almost the same notes as the original Sauvage, so it’s probably just Sauvage in a travel spray bottle.

    Dear Dior,
This is not funny, not clever, and it is not impressing anybody.

Please don’t vote yet if you haven’t even tried it.
