Description

Vero Profumo launched onda eau de parfum in March 2010. The fragrance with the same name, rubj, in extrait de parfum created in May 2007.

“The new perfumes are not the diluted version of the extracts. An eau de parfum needs a structure highlighting more the top
notes as opposed to the base notes, but with the aim of keeping the original style of the extract intact”.

In order to render the scents lighter and easier to wear, the compositions have been simplified; yet that “je ne sais quoi”
unmistakably characterizing the extracts is still clearly there. “I replaced the animalic notes with the unique scent of the
passionfruit – says Vero Kern – I personally love it very much and think that it lends a sensual and erotic lightness to the
composition”. Like an invisible thread, the intriguing scent of passionfruit links the three perfumes: it is at the core of everchanging, unexpected olfactory sensations with multifaceted evolutions.

Vero added passionfruit in the top of the composition.

I made the mistake of dabbing Salome on one wrist and Rubj EDP on the other (just to experience, not wear). Definitely an interesting journey on each. Both strong and bold which is generally what I prefer but I can only see myself actually wearing the Salome as a perfume.
The Rubj has a very distinct earthy/plant smell that takes me back to my building forts out in the (Michigan) woods days but I can’t figure out exactly what plant it is – something that must have been pretty abundant because the scent is very familiar and immediately triggered those memories. I love smells that do that but they aren’t always suitable as a perfume (many Demeter scents come to mind.. Dirt, Earthworm, etc.). I get nothing fruity, sexy, or even like cumin/body odor. Just a mysterious green plant that will drive me insane until I remember what it is. If anyone has any ideas please let me know
I agree that the Salome has a definite retro vibe and could be related to Opium. It smells very nice on me but I find the Rubj much more interesting and memorable (can’t stop sniffing my wrist). Something I would wear around the house just to make myself happy.
30-minutes later..The scent gets better and better as it dries down and is reaching something that could actually be quite wearable – the sharp green edges soften to almost a grassy smell but more complex. Anyone who likes to experience scents just for the sake of doing it should definitely get a sample/decant. Well worth it.
** Any recommendations for other scents that smell earthy/sexy would be greatly appreciated **

Whoa, Nelly! This here is sex in a bottle, perhaps the most carnal fragrance I have encountered thus far. It’s almost embarrassingly sexy. I have Maai, MKK, APLS, and Salomé, but this takes the cake. And onto the full bottle list it goes. DAYum!!

This one is more cuminous as the cumin is overdose specially the first spray, top note notch as it overcomes the whole juice and makes it too spicy and sweaty like fragrance. When it cools down the base goes cumin again with a harsh overdose feeling and i can barely smell the rest of the notes although i thought the passion fruit would break in and would smell sharply knowing how strong the passion fruit smell is but unfortunately it doesn’t appear or show easily which is a drawback for me.
I prefer the d’extrait version over the EDP for it’s variety and balance.
Edit (13th Aug 2016) i honestly begun to love this, i guess i’m going to have both, the EDP and the d’Extrait, but more likely the EDP.
You know, the more you go deep in fragrances the more you defines the notes that triggers your senses in the most sensual way. What you need to know is never reject a certain fragrance at once, just give it more time till you realize why you rejected it the first place, cause one day it might become your favorite cause it has something you never smelled before and never were in your system, so when it tries to get into your system it requires allot of acceptance from your side and patience. Patience is the key to everything.
