It’s a strong and ripe strawberry not unlike strawberry hard candy, with an underlying smokiness.
Of the notes listed, I get these:
    strawberry ~ throughout
    lime ~ in the top
opoponax ~ in the base (possibly what gives it an almost smoky feel)
It’s almost like the strawberry version of Burberry Brit EDP, with hints of YSL Manifesto l’Elixir in the drydown.

I find this perfume very relaxing. I wear the cream at bedtime and it brings so much relaxation to me.

Rouge Royal opens with a fresh strawberries that turns into candy. The candy accord wavers between those strawberry hard candies and strawberry chewing gum. There is no progression with mid and basenotes.
The projection and sillage are near non-existent. The only time I can smell this is if I put my nose where I sprayed it earlier. Thus, this would make an excellent office scent.
A good thing about about the boomerang looking bottle is that your juice will never go bad because it is opaque.

I just received a bottle of this beauty in the mail from a blind purchase. I usually wait and use a perfume a few times before a review. I couldn’t wait! After a year of watching this perfume, I just couldn’t bring myself to get Rouge Royal. I would pass RR over and get the others on my long list of fragrance wants. I read the reviews and a part of me wanted RR and a part of me didn’t want another blind buy gone south. Well, I should have listen to the other part of me. Ever since I first read about this perfume I have had many many blinds go south. I wished I would have bought this when I first laid eyes on this precious gem! She is Royal alright! RR is beautiful, sweet, fruity with a hint of warmness. I do get the strawberry and I do get the black current if I close my eyes and smell deeply. If just taking little whiffs RR is as someone else stated in an earlier review, like diving face first into a heavenly bowl of fruity pebbles. It is sweet, but not cloy, not sickly at all. Fruity but not tart or sour. It has a soft candy sweetness with a soft gentle warmness to it. No hard spice, just sweet, soft, gentle and warm. RR is gentle and relaxing enough for a pillow spray at night and fun to wear out for the day. Rouge Royal does have a great sillage, but there is nothing harsh about it. To me, the drydown is the same as when first sprayed. Doesn’t really change through the notes. I’m glad because I love the first spray of it. Yes, Rouge Royal is a beauty and I wished that I would have bought it a long time ago, but it’s ok, I’m happy in the moment with it being my new love right now. I definitely don’t regret my purchase
Update: It has now been a month since I’ve had this perfume and I love it just as much as the day I received it and made this review.

God this is face deep in a bowel of fruity pebbles good and sweet! Such a fun perfume! I loved it so much as a preteen/teen! Ioved it so much I want to buy it again! I’m 29 now and I would for sure believe that I would still enjoy it! (^_^)

I really enjoy this perfume. Juicy strawberry with the twang of lime and currant and a soft smokiness in the back ground. It’s sweet but not sickeningly so. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it fresh, but it works all year round.

I’ve had my eye on this for awhile now (online, as it’s not available in stores here in the UK, as far as I know!) and as I just started a new job and saw that it was still available on one of the Brit perfume sites I decided to treat myself to a bottle.
I love strawberry perfumes and have been mourning the loss of Fragonard’s Juste un Baiser which, for some inexplicable reason, they seem to have discontinued despite it being, in my opinion, probably the best perfume they produced!
Anyway, so after reading so many good reviews of this perfume I knew that at some point I HAD to get a bottle of it, if it was still available on any websites here. To my delight, not only is it still available but also the price is surprisingly reasonable. So, I figured I had nothing to lose and ordered a big bottle of it last week . . .
Well, YAHOO! This perfume is LOVELY!! I got a gentle whiff of it around the neck of the bottle as I wrestled it out of the package when it arrived and hoped that it would smell just as nice once I spritzed a couple of drops on my wrist. Thank god it did smell as good and continued to for several hours! As Genny17 said, it’s not a typical fruity perfume in that it’s not sickly and reminiscent of some sugary fruit drink, like many fruity perfumes are at the moment, but although to my nose the strawberry note is quite bold it’s fresh and sophisticated smelling, even elegant, so would be ideal for anyone who wants a fruity perfume but doesn’t want to smell like a 13 year old schoolgirl! Having said that, I think it could be easily worn by girls / women pretty much of any age, young or old, as it’s such a likeable, easy to wear and feminine perfume. My male friend LOVED this on me and also seemed to be extremely taken with the unusual Art Deco’ish bottle, which isn’t so much to my taste but I suppose could be a ‘grower’ – the more I look at it the more I like it, although I doubt I’d ever love it as I’m not into Art Deco! Still, the bottle definitely catches the eye and stands out from more mundane ones!
All in all, even though this doesn’t smell like a dupe for my beloved Juste un Baiser, I REALLY like this perfume and could even see it becoming a ‘go to’ perfume for me. I just hope I can get more of it when I run out and am thinking of getting another big bottle of it as a backup!

I have a strawberry perfume obsession: I’m always on the hunt for the perfect strawberry scent and I won’t rest until I find my signature strawberry scent, one that truly reminds me of the kind of wild summer strawberries I once could smell deep in the woods everywhere in my youth. I have closely come across this scent in a bottle several times, one of those is Rouge Royal, however like a dream that promises to last, I got brief wisps of wild strawberries in a grassy knoll followed by a confusing wall of green sap and a dank, purple berry squashed by squirts of lime and bites of ylang-ylang. Overall, this is a comforting “walk in the woods” scent that *does* help me recall those days of a fairy tale adventure in the woods, but the strawberries, once found, are picked quickly, and I end up smelling like I just made out with my Prince Charming and got his cologne all over my clothes. It leaves you wanting more.

I have this beauty strawberry filled fragrance. I has a oily feel to it and It make me feel beautiful. I bout it almost six years ago. I wanted something pretty to wear at my wedding. It was on sale at perfumania. I wore the marina de bourbon on my wedding and brought this one due to it being on sale. I will keep this in my collections of smell goods as one of my favorites

I had it a year ago and it was yummy until half of the 100ml bottle(although it doesn’t last long, on purpose I guess because of the foul smell it gets after it dries down), then as any strawberry candy I eat or smell too much I got sick of it. I can’t stand it on me anymore) I’d say it is a cheap smell because it has nothing sophisticated or lasting attractive about it but, it is royal somehow. I would not recommend for fancy/traditional noses.

I have owned this fragrance for a few years. My daughters talked me into purchasing it because they say it smells like strawberries which I do not smell. Rouge Royal is a slightly sweet spicy fragrance that I have fallen in love with. The only issue I have is the design of the bottle. When I got to the bottom I was unable to use it. If they were to put the straw in a corner so we can spray at an angle then that would be great.

I got this one due to the raving reviews about the quality and the price. Best $12 I’ve spent.
For strawberry lovers definitely. beautiful “rouge” bottle. I like to mix it up with a blast of Prada Iris. It’s like a natural strawberry love potion.

Very fruity and sweet. I love fruity and sweet scents, but for some reason, this never grew on me. I don’t hate it, but it’s certainly not a fragrance I wanna own.

I loooove this one! it smells so different, the wild strawberry note is sooo good. Sweet and fresh! Just wanted it to last longer.

This is not your typical fruity scent, it is more a classy scent with fruity notes, easy to wear, yet with a twist of elegance, I like it, it isn’t overly sweet either, it is a gracious scent, feminine, refined, i can’t really detect too much Ylang Ylang in it, nor do I detect strawberry either. the base is a tad spicier. I like it, but I find it doesn’t last very long, still this is my first Marina de Bourbon, and I like it.

Não, definitivamente esse não é pra mim,não combinou com a minha quimica em nada.Quando seca fica cheiro de algo plastico ,artificial.A abertura até que parece ser um pouco melhor, mas depois fica muito desagradavél.

It was at a local beauty counter and i ended up paying $19 for a big bottle…the lady said it a french line and when I sprayed it… it smelled really nice…flowery with a sweetish top note…I don’t know if it was my skin but it smelled good I think…my brother and husband both said it smells classy…so the botttle is like a red shell and it is beautiful…The discount the lady gave me like half off..she said people from Canada purchase it more than the locals…yes thumbs up for this…oh hust a note it smells in the family of Nina Ricci so it smells light and it not a overpower smell but never heard of her scents till the lady at the perfume counter….

This fragrance is a very rich full bodied scent that is so well blended that I can not pick out individual notes in it, but the impression it leaves behind when wearing it is one of divine nostalgic decadance!
It brings to mind childhood days of family holidays filled with winter sights & scents. The windows decorated with bright colorful lights, while the pine tree is sparkling with tinsel and twinkling lights. The kitchen scents permeate the home with baking goodies while the hollyberry and bayberry candles drip melting wax into little scented puddles that delightfully set the entire mood for the season.
Those are scents that stay with you forever, and that is what I get when wearing this perfume. Mmmmmmm….I love it!

This fragrance is the favorite of a large number of women here in Brazil. It’s sweet, juicy and fresh. Rouge Royal is a juice of strawberry, a juice with ice cubes.

Mi primera impresión: pensar en jugo, pero no en algo muy artificial, no es un olor que te golpee.
Es bastante agradable,lo malo es que su olor no me dura mas de un par de horas, pero para su precio creo que está bien.

i realy get a lot of lime from this at first blast. it reminded me of old spice lime aftershave. now that i’ve had it on for awhile it’s a subdued citrusy/sweet floral perfume and really quite nice. dosen’t last too long or project strongly when dried, but i actully do like it and would consider a full bottle purchase.

  22. :

Like others noted the top notes are quite pleasant, but once it settles on your skin it turns into a synthetic mess. It does a good job as an air freshener though!

This perfume has a very woody, spicy quality to it like sweet Chinese spices rubbed on a cedar tree.

This is a great one!!! I am really happy with it. It is really special for evening and nights out, and it leaves a great impression. If you want a sophisticated fragrance without the powdery effect of the majority of the elegant fragrances, this is the one. The only observation I got is that you have to use it wisely (a little) in pulse points.

I like this very much – just wish it lasted longer. I expect an EDP to be stronger & last longer; this one doesn’t. I’m glad the price was low.
However, I might be somewhat glad that it isn’t stronger because normally, oak moss & ylang ylang are horrible on me. Thankfully, that’s not the case in this fragrance. It’s nice and feminine and good for all ages, but the red bottle and the word “royal” don’t really fit the scent.
    Headache inducing factor: 3/10 (unlikely)
    Office appropriate: 9/10

One of my favorites. I put an eye on it a long time ago and for some reason left it on the shelf, without buying it. In my search for the perfect floral fruity new love, Rouge Royal suddenly came to my mind. It’s a love potion in a bottle. And a beautiful one, I’d say! Lemony sweet strawberries, yummy strawberries which surround you the whole day.
It is not cloyingly sweet, but the strong strawberry note definitely gives it a sweet character.
I’d wear it any time of the day, it’s soft and inoffensive and yet people do comment about it.
Can’t stop sniffing my wrist now, my new fruity love.
    Yum!!!

At first it smells like delicious oily strawberry, very similar to Avon’s strawberry lipgloss. I though I found something really unique and great, but after some time it turned into a plastic smell. I’m not saying that this is a kind of an artificial smell, I mean real plastic. Don’t judge it by the first smell. It ended up being an ugly smell.

This scent is sweet fruity floral, with intense top notes, but very short life ;o( Yes, I feel strawberries and they are quite appealing. It’s not unique and royal, but nice scent for young ladies, who want to smell yummy fruity.

Mmmm….Strawberries…lots and lots of red and juicy strawberries.
ROUGE ROYAL starts off with strawberries mixed with a lemon, like a refreshing strawberry lemon sorbet. Then it becomes a bit sweeter like a strawberry jam. At one point it smells just like a delicious strawberry bubble gum. I was addicted to the strawberry bubble gum as a child and bought tons of it just for the scent and this perfume brings back those happy memories of my childhood. The scent transforms into a lighter, watered down strawberry juice with lily of the valley and jasmine in the heart notes. I do not detect much oakmoss in the base notes on my skin. The base notes basically smell on me like a diluted strawberry juice, very light and pleasant.
I have to admit that the strawberry note is sweet here and borders on a delicious bubble gum at times. But to me it just smells yummy. I would not say that it is a sophisticated scent but it is certainly adorable and carefree for summer days when I am in the mood to smell like strawberries.

I bought this perfume as a blind buy, encouraged by its many positive reviews; But I was disappointed when I finally got it. It started with a very strong blast of synthetic-smelling notes which quickly died away. No wonder it was cheap. You’re much better off spending more on higher quality perfumes which you won’t regret buying.

I am absolutely in love with this perfume! It smells soooo good! It lasts and lasts on my skin. It gives off a really loud and strong burst of strawberries and lemon, which smells divine on my skin. As time passes, it becomes more subtle and soft, I think because of the oakmoss…but quietly its still there…..I love it!!!! I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists. I think this will be a good Spring/Summer fragrance if you love fruity florals. You don’t have to break the piggy bank with this one either. It is very affordable. I only wish I could see inside the bottle. I won’t be able to tell when I’m getting low on perfume without shaking the bottle up and taking a guess. Trying to get those last few sprays out of the bottle without being able to see it, should be interesting. Oh well, I will definitely repurchase this one once I run out!! I have already added Reverence to my collection and I am waitin on Marina de Bourbon to arrive in the mail. I am excited about trying other Princesse Marina fragrances, but this will always be my first love.

I just received this from Perfumania. I love the scent, I only wish that it had more staying power.

  33. :

This perfume is probably the only one in my collection of perfumes that you can actually detect “wild strawberries” in it.
The strawberry note blends in with the lemon to make this almost tart-ish type of scent.
The initial burst is really juicy and bright, albeit somewhat artificial smelling.
The only thing that is a little “off” in this perfume is I suspect the resin and the oakmoss in the base that some might say gives it it’s sophistication and uniqueness (although I don’t think this scent is very sophisticated at all).
I do have a problem with this scent though, because when I smell it for a long period of time i feel like regurgitating for some reason…so I end up not wearing this that often.

Really sweet fragrance, I loved how it stayed in my skin, I usually use it in the summer. It’s not noticeable when people are passing by you, but everytime you receive a hug or someone gets close you can be sure you’re going to be complimented =>

Confess that first of all I fell in love with the bottle, and in my fantasy there was a thick red liquid inside…I did not crack it to check. What I found after spraying it was a delicious hot sweet strawberry syrup spicied with crushed lemon peel. But it’s not just as sweet hot candy. The moss gives it a kind of sophistication. It does not last too long. I like to wear in winter, I feel it warms us. P.S: I usually get more men compliments than women’s when wearing this one…and it’s not expensive. (Good, isn’t it?)

  37. :

This one is nice, I like the strawberry lemony but basically that´s all I can smell.
Sillage is poor and lasting is weak.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

I start using this scent as soon as the days get sunny. The strawberry opening is delightful and giggly but the lemon and moss prevent it from being cloying. Not the single most sophisticated perfume in the world but a delightful daytime fragrance and the price is delightful also.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Really liked the opening on this one. The intial blast of wild stawberries and lemon is very appealing but the drydown just didn’t do it for me. Not a fan of moss in perfumes and this is no exception. If the basenotes were a musk or maybe a wood of some kind then this perfume would have been so much better. Oh well.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

I have a sample spray and it says …Fruity, Floral, and Oriental…well, yes, all true. I liked the lemon in the top notes, the black currant and strawberry blend together to be just fruity and sweet. The fruity notes stay around during wear. I see my three favorites-Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, and Ylang Ylang-but I could not sense them in the scent-seemingly abscent-or all mashed in together and covered up by the with the syrup and sugar. The perfume started out very strong but faded quickly. It is quite artificial feeling. Wish the perfume was a bit finer, to really experience the creatorś nice choice of notes.

  41. :

Lovely and potent summer nights scent, which starts out fruity but (on some chemistries) quickly turns to the more resinous side, almost chypre-ish (oakmoss?), even a little woody.
Because of this turn to the resinous, it may be one of the only “fruity” perfumes that can be worn all year.
Unlike many scents in its olfactory family, Rouge Royal lasts very nicely, has great sillage, and is more “seductive and elegant” than “fruity and flirty”. Definitely a siren’s version of the floral/fruity perfume genre!

I LOVE it! The sexiest smell ever! It is sooo one of a kind, just adorable!! I never wear it during the day, this scent is only for intimate and romantic occasions:)
I’ve been wearing Rouge Royal for a year, it became my signature scent and my love for it keeps on growing!

My favorite! wherever you go u followed by trail of sweet, soft a little bit lemony smell. i always get compliments when i wear it, and it makes me feel confident and sexy. btw, it is very long lasting, perfect for day & night, summer & winter. I just love it!

An interesting fruity scent that is very juicy and perfect for summer… it’s almost your typical fruity floral, and almost completely girly. But just almost. It manages to stay unique, barely. There is a lot of lemon in the beginning with strawberry, and the dry down has some florals (not sure which ones, might be the ylang ylang) and I smell the black currant the more it dries down. It actually smells a lot like the Ed Hardy fragrance for her, but better. Unfortunately the dry down on this smells a bit plastic-y. I like Rouge Royal, but I don’t love it.
