Finally reunited with this. And actually, it could easily be contemporary niche. The balsamic vanilla/pepper/cedar notes remind me a bit of Hyperbole. But that’s more of a pared back medicinal syrup, to Now or Never’s lush, aromatic oriental warmth.

I bought 2 bottles of this nice perfume. Somehow I got tired of them, and gave them away,,, today, I have a change of heart, and wish I still could have keept them both :((

It was a bit too sweet for my taste

Second post on same perfume.
I was bereft.. shredded to the core.. when this was discontinued.
But good news! I’ve found a new Rose to love.
It’s not a 100% dupe, but the same qualities I enjoyed:
January Scent Project Smolderose Spray Eau de Parfum
There’s 2 very similarly named ones from this house, so paste that in the search field *verbatim*. They sell testers at a reasonable cost.

I really don‘ t get it. On what ground was this little gem discontinued? Ok, it was a limited edition but since it did so well, it should have been added to regular production. Or especially relaunched every year right before Christmas. In my country (Greece) has just been relaunched the original DG (red cap), well, I hope they take their cue at Lancome…

I miss it! It’s sweet and spicy. It’s like eating cherry pie to indulge yourself after hard work on a wintery day. To replace it I mix Essence de Patchouli (Ashley) and Always Red (EA).

@ Lipglossjunkie: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your post! I saw your thread, showcased in this recent “Unicorn” news article.
For years, I’d been trying to recall the name of the gorgeous frag I loved after college, in a long slim red bottle. Couldn’t for my life, recall the name or brand.
Based on a packaging-query, Clarins’ Eau Dynamisant came up, in a holiday-edition thin tube packaging. So I went to the mall last weekend to try it.. and it didn’t ..smell right.
Well thanks to your timely posting, I now know exactly what I was searching for! 🙂 Lancome Rouge Now or Never.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this perfume. Even though I have had a large number of scents through the years – I have never found anything that even comes close to this one. It is spicy but still sweet without being like candy. These days I find there are so many copies of scents already out there – or are recreations of something that had been discontinued. This particular scent was something that stood by itself right from the beginning. I fell in love the 1st time I smelled it. The first time I purchased a bottle I went back to the store within a day to buy another bottle [because I knew it was only a limited release]. Over the years I was lucky enough to track down 4 additional bottles and I just recently found a seller who had a bunch of them for sale. I bought another 3 bottles which should hopefully keep me going for a while! Even though this scent was released for only a short period in 1998 – I am very pleased to say that [under proper conditions] this perfume does not go bad or ‘turn’ as so many others do in a short period of time. If you like perfumes that are different than the ordinary and definitely stand in a category of their own – you should try to track down a bottle. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

As part of my November challenge I have been wearing this scent for 2 days now….and it is so GORGEOUS. Very hard to find but well worth the hunt and expense.
The opening is a blast of spices—tea, roses, cedar and just an intriguing spicy blend that makes you think winter. It has just a smidge of sharpness in the opening but that fades quickly as it morphs into a smokey vanilla incense on my skin. The amber, vanilla, incense and sandalwood are very warm and comforting on my skin, although longevity is only about 4 hours at best. I don’t mind respraying something so lovely, though.
At about 3.5 hours the drydown smells powdery—like old fashioned lipstick and face powder (which I love). I had tried this one back in the spring and it didn’t wow quite as much, so glad I waited until the weather got cooler to try it out again.

All the reviews here are about asking Lancôme to bring it back. I was intrigued and tracked down a bottle. I find it a very pleasant sweet sandalwood fragrance, with warmth from the amber and a little sharpness from the cedar. I have worn it twice now, and so far it reminds me a little bit of EL Sensuous. It’s pretty, easy to wear, office appropriate with low sillage. On the other hand it hasn’t wowed me and I think there may be similar scents out there.

I loved this too… so much I bought two more bottles whilst in Val D’Aran working. I still have a third of a bottle left & I understand it could be sold for a ridiculous amount of money. However I will never part with it & occasionally get it out of the dark storage for a sniff! Lucky me, I must say that it has not soured after all this time!
oleg000 – :
The best fragnance I’ve ever had! I am trying to locate it online, so far unsuccessfully… Would be thrilled, if Lancôme brought it back!
AccestyIcep – :
Agree with all of you, never smelled anything like this. Remeber I loved it and that everywhere I went I got complimented for it. Sonia Rykiel i similar but unfortunately not close enough:-( Pleeeeaaasseee Lancome, bring i back!
neesusehisa – :
Absolutely loved this perfume when it came out- just gorgeous. Ok so here’s the thing, does anyone here know of a company named scent matchers? I haven’t tried it but wondered if it might be a viable option to get something close to as good as this? Has anyone here tried this as a substitute for their favorite discontinued perfume? So many if the best perfumes are discontinued its so frustrating. While so many average or awful perfumes are continually made for years, it makes no sense.
xnada – :
I remember I really loved this one. I worked at the Lancome counter when it came out, and it was the first Lancome perfume that I loved, instead of just liked or appreciated (many of them I just appreciated). I haven’t smelled Rouge in a very long time so i don’t feel competent to review it properly, but I can confirm it is a beautiful, spicy, fruity incense. I long for it!

COME ON LANCOME WE ARE WAITING FOR THIS PERFUME FOR SO LONG!!!

LANCOME pleeeeease bring it back! it will be the hit of the year! I can imagine the bum of the sale, came on! : )
I have the bottle with a very small amount, I never wear it, I only open the bottle once in a while to admire the magic smell. I´m crazy about this perfume.
Cw72 – :
Like others, I have searched for a substitute for Lancôme’s Rouge Now or Never. Alas none is to be found. This fragrance is one of a kind and I would love for Lancôme to bring this back. I have the tinyest amount left and wish every day to find it back on the shelves as part of the PERMENANT Lancôme fragrance collection.
post517 – :
I agree wholeheartedly, Cosmicscent!!!
I still have a small amount of this left and wear it once or twice a year, usually near Christmas.
It is an all time favorite of mine and would love to wear it as a signature scent.
I have never found another fragrance that is similar.
It reminds me of the scent of the clear, hard cinnamon candies of years gone by. Can’t find the candies, either. 🙁
Are you listening, Lancome???
Antonio231 – :
LANCOME REALLY NEEDS TO BRING THIS ONE BACK! AMAZING SCENT AND VERY LONG LASTING, THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT THIS JUICE IN THE MAGNIFIQUE BOTTLE AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN HAPPY:)
