Grafon – :
I have purchased many and as JoyJoy mentioned a lot have been discontinued or renamed.
I just recently scored a very small sample of Rose Snow from another HJ fan and I found it to be light in comparison to many other HJ’s. That is not a bad thing at all! It starts out with a bit of a lemon scent and flows smoothly into the very beautiful rose, not much iris but it is there hiding in the background. I would purchase it in half a second if I could find it here in the states, Although my wallet would probably scream as it has many times in the past!!!!
Well worth the purchase and a bottle will last for a very long time. I am the third generation to have most of mine.

I’m so excited that Fragrantica has added Henry Jacques to the database! This line is exquisite. I discovered Snow Rose about 9 years ago at The Perfume House in Portland OR. I bought a 1 oz bottle for I think $325 (no more than $350). At the time it was the most I’d ever spent for perfume. Sadly they stopped being able to sell the line a few years back & now you can only buy HJ from Harrods. One half ounce of Snow Rose is now a little over $500! The real problem with anyone who is familiar with this line is that they’ve discontinued (possibly in a few instances renamed) many of the fragrances so that Snow Rose & their Musk are the only ones I’m acquainted with. They will not do samples even if you buy a perfume so it’s pretty difficult to purchase. That’s a pretty brave blind buy. I can’t imagine many would be willing to do that. I’m hoping that The Perfumed Court or Surrender to Chance or someone starts selling some HJ decants.
Anyway, re: the scent…it’s simple & beautiful. You mainly smell the verbena & the rose. I don’t detect a lot of iris nor do I find it powdery. It’s beautiful but not old fashioned or dated. It makes me feel pretty when I wear it but not in a boring or matronly way, just *pretty* and feminine. It doesn’t smell like any other perfume I’m familiar with. And it crystalizes in the bottle. I’ve had natural rose perfumes & various rose oils but I’ve never seen the crystallization before. It’s apparently the sign of true rose essences. For this scent I believe white roses are used. And if you’re familiar with the perfume from years ago the 2016 smells the same to me.
*Just as a side note-this picture is not a picture of Snow Rose. This is what the current 1/2 oz. bottle looks like (as well as what the presentation display case looks like) but Snow Rose is clear with the noticeable crystallization. Not that it really matters I guess but you can see the actual perfume on the Harrods site.
