It took me half a bottle of this to realise that the bleachy note I could smell was not going to disappear no matter how many times I tried it and no matter what amounts. It is a pretty thing. It is rosey, fresh at that. The oud is oud lite of course, but it is oud as I do detect a medicinal tang, that just hovers the whole time. It is not a particularly long lasting woody rose, so layering on top is no problem. Or layering this on top of something more substantially oudy could help. Disappointed. But if you like your oud soft and love roses, this might suit you. I am going to try the oil to see if there is a marked difference. Nice try The Body Shop…

This is definitely a fresh spicy which are generally safe bets for me but I can’t smell rose or oud in this, just an odd spicy note like a sweet&sour curry powder and then a pleasant clean, dry fluffy note that reminds me a bit of sandalwood.. if it wasn’t for that clean note I don’t think I’d like it, the spice is almost too much for me.
UPDATE: the spice seems to have faded a lot in the drydown, so, I’m just left with this lovely clean note which is smooth kind of smoky and musky, I really like it, thanks Nexangelus for gifting me this 🙂 x

Smells medicinal and synthetic. Got so many critics when im on this frag.

I rather like this little BS number. There a noticeable oud note in it as far as I can smell, and it’s a very pleasant smelling perfume, which is strong, sweet, floral and likeable. This is a quality fragrance IMHO, it is unique, mysterious and spicy.
Longevity is excellent and projection is powerful. Unlike Amber oud, this perfume is more feminine than masculine, but I think that it could be worn by both sexes.
Nice little number Body Shop, well done!! Shame it’s discontinued.

I can’t detect any oud in this…only rose…but not good rose..something like a wet wipes!
RAUL000 – :
Haha what the hell is this?? Rose? No. Oud? No.
Very very weird scent, glad I only blindnought this for a small amount!
I can’t get over how weird it is, and I can’t explain what it smells like either?
Maybe I got a dud one? I hate being negative about a perfume, but this one is not a winner.

My husband knows I like rose perfumes, and bought this one for me along with the matching body lotion, not knowing I am not wonderfully fond of oudh.
So I said thank you, put it in a drawer and forgot it.
Today I discovered the bottle again, and decided to give it a try. Okay, it opens with a note deeply reminiscent of Lifebouy Soap, but luckily this fades to give rise to a fresh, clean rose scent.
It is not terribly long lasting, but nice for warmer weather. I am glad now that I didn’t gift it to someone else when my husband wasn’t looking!
I don’t think I’d try to replace it when it is gone, but I’ll use the bottle up and all in all it is not too bad.

I haven’t tried this yet but I want to – I love spicy, warm rose/oud scents..

oud..the real pure undiluted oud,the best grade one could cost about $1k+ for just 15ml,this is no joke…if u smell the scents & quality the real one..unlike any other woody perfumes…u’ll know just how what makes it so special among the rich peoples.
oud..will just never go out of date..people will keep loving it.

@Shwets it is a perfume from the “body shop” what did you expect….a montale?!!hehehe of course it is lacking! I give them credit for even trying to make a rose/oud combination in the first place!
BOB4APA – :
After smelling the rose oud combination in Dior’s Oud Isphahan or Jo Malones Velvet Rose Oud, the body shops version lacks depth or that it doesnt appear to be well blended – i gave mine away more so due to an odd cumin note.

asher.jessie = NOT everyone can shell out 400 bucks for real. I can’t afford oud let alone french perfumes sometimes. Prices in middle east are crazy but I heared in united states & in the uk there are great discounts & sale all the time unlike middle east. I still write long list of stuff I want to buy & guess what? I only come home with only one item. I can’t afford to buy stuff with $400, this quantity of money can buy me loads of cheap stuff from walmart for example & above all, it can pay for some food & horrible bills.

Why the hell do you all care so much about trends?
No one complains that nearly EVERY perfume these days is loaded with bergamot and orange blossom. Nor does anyone complain that musk, amber, and vanilla are the bases for nearly every scent ever.
Stop complaining that they keep coming, and GET OUT THERE and smell them, so you can adeptly and intelligent review them as is the purpose of this review function!
This is gorgeous. Rose and Oud are excellent together, and not everything is accessible to everyone. This is accessible to me, so I’m taking it for what it’s worth.
Unlike everyone else it seems, I’m not able to drop $400 on your prissy “real” oud fragrances.
WECETREAMEDAM – :
I just wanna say something about Oud as so many westren people are complaining about it being now popular. I remember my first post about my fragrances collection, all of them were french fragrances cause I’m head over heals in love with anyhthing french, even clothes, food, drinks…etc. Though oud & orintal fragrances are way too popular in middle east specially in UAE & arabian gulf in general, I can’t afford to buy them all the time cause oud is sometimes way too expensive as it’s rare. Rich folk where I live now buy it all the time & use it in their fancy parties like luxurious proms & fairytale look a like weddings. I’m not saying that I don’t like it but as you can see not anything I can afford though I want one single perfume from Amouage & all of there fragrances have oud & herps in them. When I was living in Lebanon as I’m half a lebanese, oud was not so common between my mates in there but arabian rich families like to buy it & mix it with musk or oud or ( oudah ) as we sometimes call it.

This is not a new release at all, it’s been all over middle east for two years now. I guess this release is only for eastren folk as oud is so popular between them. It smells so beautiful but also ordinary specially to people who’re familiar with this kind of scents. It smells just like oud mixed with pink roses & that’s it. This collection was released with another collection called Amber oud that smells very orintal. I just tried them out as I’m a big fan of the body shop company, they don’t harm animals or people or anybody, I’m also with human right & animals rights that’s why 🙂
