Rose Nacree du Desert is an acquired taste, and does not smell like something from the house of Guerlain. Instead it’s a realistic Oud scent from the Middle East. I really like it but it leans a little too masculine for my taste. Still it’s incredibly impressive: extreme longevity with decent sillage. This is a Rose-Oud with beast mode performance. And it’s quite impressive.

CLEAR ROSEWATER FOR DAYS
______________________________________________________
I visited the Guerlain Shop because i was told that Shalimar Parfum Initial would be a very interesting iris fragrance. I was informed, that it is discontinued and was offered to try other fragrances.
Among the fragrances that I tried was Rose Nacree du Desert. I was told to give it at least 30 Minutes to fully evolve. I sprayed it in an envelope and took it home. Around 2 hours later the hole table had a very clean rose vibe about it and I didn’t know why, because there where other testers and paper stripes around. But Rose Nacree fought it’s way to the top and way the only fragrance I could smell.
About an hour later the whole room was infused with the scent of a very clear rose water. every now and then, hints of oud or saffron would come through, but the rose is very strong and dominant.
I opened the envelope and for 3 days the entire room smelled wonderfully. Thanks, Guerlain, for this wonderful fragrance.
Longevity: – 10/10
Sillage: – 10/10
All in all: 10 out of 10 subjective points -> because I was looking for a clean rose scent, and that’s what ROSE NACREDD DU DESERT deliveres.

Rose Nacree du Desert has long been my favourite rose/oud fragrance. Like Encens Mythique, it has a very balsamic opening that only softens throughout the affair without completely fading away. Unlike E.M, however, this doesn’t have a lot of ambregris going on, making this a much more coherent Middle East-esque type scent. The rose is supple, jammy. It goes fairly hand in hand with the ultra woody oud, which differs from the medicinal smell it can occasionally have. A beautiful saffron and patchouli connect this to Encens. I think this did a fairly good job of emulating the smell of oud, if not near perfectly. Nothing can imitate the smell, but this was a fair effort. A fair enough effort for me to want two thousand gallons of the stuff to douse myself in.
I’ve been told by multiple sources that this will be discontinued soon. Take that however you please.

Reminiscent of Al Rehab Al Sharqiah for sure! Cant believe it. A bit too masculine and earthy dark rose for my liking. Very Arabic smelling to me, strong and powerful sillage.

Sillage: Beastly (A+)
Longevity: Strong beyond 12 hours (A+)
Craftsmanship: It’s Guerlain (A+)
Scent (Subjective): I first smelled this at Nordstrom at South Coast Plaza. I literally had to sit down. I was blown away. It’s a stunning rose fragrance. I’m a middle aged guy and such a bold powerful floral doesn’t match my style in concept. I don’t care, it’s just that good to my nose. Just amazing. (A+)
Season: Cold nights
