Starts out fresh and fruity but dries to be something close to dog-in-car smell. Probably okay to wear if you’re spraying yourself down every half hour.

I had this a while back, when I first tested it I thought it was a pretty nice fragrance ND super cheap. I bought it and only liked it for about a week, until I realized that it smells like baby diapers, and the drydown it’s the worst, it becomes headache inducing and excessively strong for a fresh fragrance. I ended up giving it away. Couldn’t stand it

This is by far the cheapest fragrance in my collection. I picked up a gift set from TJ Maxx for $16.
Much to my chagrin, this is my girlfriends favorite fragrance on me. For some reason, this is serious turn on.
For me, it verges on garbage. It is a generic, clean-ish fragrance. However, my like Azzaro Wanted, I get this kind of mildew, mold, dirty smell in the base that NEVER dries down, weakens, or goes away.
It’s a pass on this one. She loves it, I think it smells like vomit.

So because I was pleasantly surprised with how good The original original penguin so I had high expectations for this fragrance especially since it had notes that I typically like. Unfortunately though this to me was a very synthetic smell that smelled like you sprayed 3 fragrances on your skin that just didn’t quite flow together. Very disappointed with this purchase 🙁
To describe the smell though it was a sour green apple note supported by spicy and sweet notes. I did really like the apple note but wish it was less sour and also wish the spices were toned down. This is a scent that definitely reflects its price tag.
Overall rating — 5 out of 10. Can’t comment on performance as I couldn’t stand to wear it long enough

Very fresh notes with this cologne that last for a while. Air freshener vibe in a good way. It lasts 6hr plus.

I got the stick deodorant for $5, and couldn’t pass it up. I’ve been curious about Original Penguin, and here’s what I have discovered: powder, powder, powder. “Rocks” smells like nothing more than powder, but I will say the silage is very good. (I tried the Polo RED deodorant stick awhile back, new from Macy’s, and couldn’t even smell anything.) So Rocks is an office-friendly fragrance, and nothing more. Absolutely nothing special.

Cool and crisp open. An almost candy like green apple note but its far in the background.
    Floral powdery dry.
Smells good but it is a pretty boring scent as far as transformation abd complexity goes.
Its a “What you smell is what you get’ kinda scent.
    Will report back on longevity

I do not immediately like this scent like I do the original penguin. I mostly get green apple at first spray with a little lavender and bergamot. I thought it was made more for spring/summer at first. But once the dry down comes through, its undeniably fall scent appears. The tonic bean and sandalwood is nice but is popular in a lot of fragrances. What stands out most is the unique blend of green apple and SUEDE. I love the suede in this one’s dry down! Poor performance, as expected in penguin.
Longevity: 5 (Stays better on clothes)
    Sillage: 3
    Projection: 2

I blind buy this at Special Offer 12 USD. When I try it. It has Fresh atmosphere, and after that spicy drydown like Etiene Aigner Black. Then the base note is clean tone skin scent. Not Bad, but also not so Unique..
    Safe choice for blind buy..

    Pleasant, inviting, and underrated…
I have been pleasantly surprised today wearing Original Penguin Rocks. Personally speaking, the blend of tonka bean, fruity, and suede notes unite in unison and the end product is a great smelling fragrance with above average longevity and projection/sillage. The real beauty of this fragrance is the price point and flexibility. Rocks is readily available at most discount retail stores at an affordable price and offers extraordinary flexibility to be worn day or night during any season of the year. My final tally for Original Penguin Rocks is 4.2 stars out of 5 stars. To reiterate the high points, Rocks is a great smelling fragrance that offers great flexibility and will fit any budget. It certainly could be mistaken for a more expensive fragrance. It comes with a solid recommendation to add to any collection, especially for those looking to add a versatile fragrance to a growing collection. I think you will share my enthusiasm.
    Enjoy your day…

I’ve sampled this several times now, and it’s always been something that I’d describe as unique and interesting, yet in some facet, familiar. Finally put my finger on it. The dd with that tartness is quite similar to D&G The One edt, of course, with better performance. I still enjoy both immensely. The question remains…Is it a total fluke these scents have such a “smellalarity” yet essentially share no notes/accords??? Ponder on…

Sampled this at Kohls today and I actually really like the top notes. I do get the apple and some citrus. It’s actually quite nice. Then on the dry down I kept thinking…what does this smell like? So familiar. The dry down is exactly like Versace Eros, exactly. Probably ambroxan in it. Ambroxan isn’t in the notes, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I’m smelling. Might have to pick up a bottle of this since it’s pretty cheap.

I don’t smell one bit of hairspray. I love this stuff so much for the price, I was considering buying multiple bottles. May be my signature scent. So fresh and green. I love this

I’m addicted to the top notes of this thing! I love the suede note in this. Penguin doesn’t get enough airplay in my opinion. All of their colognes can be had inexpensively if you look around for bargains. Penguin ROCKS is something that I enjoy wearing when I want to sport a fragrance that will be with me for 3 or 4 hours. The sandalwood and the suede work really well together on this in the drydown. I was originally compelled to try this because I had the other Penguin offerings. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I get moderate sillage with this for about an hour, then it starts to get close. Spraying on your clothes will make it last much longer.

Not terrible, but upon first sniff, I was reminded of hairspray.

You really can’t go wrong with this one. It’s sort of everything you want in a men’s fragrance and the price is right (this pops up all the time in discount stores, like Marshalls or Ross).
One thing I love about this stuff (and what really makes the difference IMO) is the tobacco-ish under-vibe. It holds up the rest of the fragrance well and saves it from being too typical or cheesy. Basically, it has all of the sophistication of an old school scent with enough of a metrosexual element for today’s man.
-Works for all ages except teens.
-Perfect for date night. This qualifies as a panty-dropper, but in a more sensual as opposed to sexual way. Also good for clubbing.
    -Lasts long and good projection.
-A little much for an office setting. If you must, go light.
    -Great for all seasons.

for the life of me I can’t get anything out of this other than the strong fruity (apple) scent. It’s very pleasant and feels very much spring and summer for me. I have been wearing it on and off during the winter months and it just doesn’t last long, although it projects well and given its soft gentle notes, doesn’t feel overwhelming. I’m curious to see how it performs once the weather warms up because it doesn’t last long enough for my taste. I bought it on the cheap at TJ Maxx, so I can’t complain.

A solid mainstream release by Penguin that combines tarty and sour apple with fresh bergamot and aromatic lavender and clary sage on top with a powerful from the get-go tonka bean that comes over the top of the whole fragrance the whole wear and gives it a creamy, Italian soda fountain feel with the powdery sandalwood and dominates until the end.
Won’t cause any fuss or complaints but also has a little bit of a calone feel in the heart section that is all too familiar with cheaper designer colognes heavy on synthetic aromatic elements but goes away after about 20-30 minutes and settles into a creamy tonka and sandalwood dry down with soft suede and leftover apple residue from the top that sticks around on your skin for hours in the cold. Extremely creamy tonka drydown, which masks the synthetic aromatics well and allows the apple to live on into the dying ambers of the drydown. Decent frag for newbies and at affordable prices under $20 is worth picking up if you don’t have an apple/tonka fragrance already for colder weather. This isn’t signature material though, because of the heavy tonka here you will get tired of it quickly if you intend to use it as daily wear, Rocks is best left for a rotation as a once-in-awhile fragrance to fully enjoy it to the max. Very versatile, can be worn at work, casually or even for a date if you hold it to 2 sprays instead of 3 or 4. Fits day or night in fall, spring or winter best. Tested this on two separate occasions and got excellent performance from this of 8-12 hours both times with sillage very good and reliable the first 4-5 hours before tailing off a little but for this price the performance is excellent. If you like creamy tonka and sour apple, you will love this one, if you are new to the fragrance game and like Armani Code’s creamy essence but want something within your range of affordability, this will hit the mark and do bell for you. A perfect gift for a college guy or early 20 something in need of a solid winter frag for every now and then.

Overall, I have to say this is a good perfume. I first came across this when I got a sample from Boscov’s. I wore it a few times and liked it. I then found a bottle at Ross for $15 and bought it. It is not bad. I do think it is underrated. This is a great choice for fall. I love the apple in it and get a tobacco note, even though it is not listed as a note. If you come across this for a good price, I recommend getting it as it is definitely underrated.

This is a nice scent. fresh clean apples and then turns into a nice clean soapy scent. for smell alone i give this a 8.5/10
Now lets get on to the performance of this fragrance. I get about 4 hours longevity which is average for most fragrances on my skin. For sillage, i get piss poor sillage. I even applied 7 sprays and 30 minutes later i asked a friend if they could smell me while i was sitting next to them in class and they said they never smelled anything which is unusual because they always catch a whiff when i sit next to them. If i can apply that much and nobody can smell me at all, what is even the point really. i cant even smell it when i put 2 on the neck, 2 on arms, 2 on wrists and one on shirt. i will admit that the first 30 minutes this is a very strong scent. one spray and in that 30 minutes everyone within 10 feet will smell you, but after that, no body, not even yourself can even when you spray the hell out of it. I wouldnt buy this again due to the poor performance of it. even in 100 degree weather i couldnt get any projection out of it. It really is a shame because i absolutely love the smell of it. it appears maybe this fragrance may not just work on my skin, but i find it odd that i get poor projection because i am a very warm bodied person and generate a lot of heat which does make most colognes get pretty good sillage and projection on me.
It really is a shame this fragrance performs so poorly on me as i love the scent, but i cant justify reapplying every 30 minutes-an hour on any scent. Perhaps if they made this an EDP it would be better
    Scent 9/10
    Longevity 2/10
    sillage 2/10

I must agree with @joeyvice, i cant describe theres nothing special about this perfume, semi sweet, semi woody, and it´s just fun.

I really like this one. The initial spray is STRONG,I went to dinner after I put this juice on and it hovered around me throughout the entire meal. No, it doesn’t smell “luxurious” or refined, but it’s a really good fragrance. If I had to describe it with one word, it would be “fun”. This fragrance is very pleasant, amd it just makes you feel happy all around, does that sound weird? lol

    Wow…for 3 season causal wear..this stuff “ROCKS”!
I get a bit of a tobacco vibe in the mid…could be just the suede playing tricks but it’s pretty dominant OMS.

I agree with Jose on his review, I definitely get some green apple in the opening. Very unique and fun to wear. Not amazing but not bad at all, it’s good for an every day scent. The magnetic cap is a nice touch and the bottle isn’t boring. I get a decent sillage of a foot or two and average longevity before it turns into a skin scent and can’t be noticed more than 2 inches away. This seems to be more of a warm weather scent but I find myself wearing it in the winter as well, it is decent in both seasons. For the price (about 25-30 USD) it is definitely worth at least a test. Solid frag and very unique. 3.5 out of 5 for similarly priced scents.

This is fresh and fruity. I get like a twist of pears when wearing this. The opening is salty and citrusy. The dry down is sweet. A good fragrance for summer day time. Doesn’t last long, so it’s what ever. Try it.

Now this is an unique fragrance. Opens fresh, strong green apple and then develops into a clean, fresh green woody dry down. Maybe to sweet for me but I know people will love Rocks. The performance of Rocks is rock solid, more than 8 hrs on longevity and the sillage radiates great. Great for winter and fall. I love the first Original Penguin fragrance and this one is no exception and for those bottle collectors well this is a great looking bottle. Great work Original Penguin!
