Description
Jo Malone launches its new fragrance collection Rock The Ages in early 2015. The collection is limited and available from March 2015. The aim of the collection was to depict different periods of British history through the inspiration of drama, atmosphere and characters of each of the periods. The collection contains the following scents: Tudor Rose & Amber, Lily of the Valley & Ivy, Geranium & Verbena, Pomegranate Noir (reissued) and Birch & Black Pepper.
Geranium & Verbena is a fragrance inspired by the aristocracy of Edwardian period. This fougere fragrance of garden parties contains notes of bergamot, basil and verbena in the top, geranium, neroli and coumarin in the heart, and vetiver, patchouli, vanilla and cedar in the base.
The fragrances are available in bottles of 30 ml.
The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel.

I loved this one in the store, but after wearing it a few times, it just isn’t for me. The geranium reminds me of the liquid that barbers store combs in for sterilization. I don’t get any verbena. This may work better on others than on me.

My favorite of the Rock the Ages collection. Hate that it was limited, but love it immensely. Layers wonderfully with Red Roses. I wish Jones Malone would keep their fragrances with Verbena around for a while. Geranium & Verbena and Verbenas de Provence are spectacular, yet no longer available.

This one is almost too feminine. Honestly, it may be too feminine but it smells great. I wear it with pride.

Geranium and Verbena smells like bottled aromatherapy. Although not listed, get a soothing herbal lavender smell at first spritz. It has such a calming effect that I can see myself taking a spritz or two before bed. The dry down is very green and herbaceous. I can see G &V blending well with many in the Jo Malone line as it is just easy to wear. This will be appealing to men and women and is a great daytime fragrance to wear to work. Overall, the impression that G&V gives me is that of a traditional cologne, minus the strong citrus.
This fragrance blends seemlessly with Wood Sage and Sea Salt. They have a note or two of their composition in common, however I can’t tell you what they are, exactly. If Wood Sage and Sea Salt was on the feminine side of “unisex”, Geranium and Verbena would be on the same continuum but on the masculine side of “unisex”. I’m a woman and considered a “girly-girl” by friends and I have no issue wearing this by itself or layered with another fragrance.
Since Geranium and Verbena is so close to my current Jo Malone favorite, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, I doubt I’ll repurchase when I use it up. Also, it’s limited edition, so it probably won’t be available to repurchase, anyways. Longevity is fair. I get hours before I need to reapply (about 3-4). Projection is minimal. If you like fresh, green, herbal, clean fragrances, Geranium and Verbena may appeal to you.

Tested this on a strip from Nordstroms – at first really liked it, very spring like and unisex. The dry down became too masculine for me. But seemed well blended.
