Description

A super sexy, “retro nouveau” animalic perfume with the kick of aldehydes and pepper in the top, narcotic, indolic florals in the heart, and a super rich, slightly salty, animalic drydown. Let’s just say that there’s more going on here than a meeting of the minds.

“I let my imagination go to a time and place when animalic perfumes reigned supreme. Of course, I included the four traditional animal notes: musk, civet, ambergris, and castoreum with added elements of aged oakmoss, and botanical “animalics”; ambrette co2, labdanum, and hyraceum tincture (aka African Stone). The heart is filled with indolic juhi jasmine, orange flower absolute, and gardenia balanced by a slightly sharp and spicy white pepper and aldehyde top note. The result is a lush, provocative, and thoroughly sexy perfume for both men and women.”

Rendezvous was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Dawn Spencer Hurwitz.

An instant love and an easy add to the “want” list. This is the perfect modern recreation of a vintage fragrance with none of the off notes of actual vintage fragrances. It’s a deep, animalic, sweet, furry and warm amber oriental.
Look at that note pyramid! This is exactly the balls to the wall animalic you’d expect. But one of the things I love about Dawn’s work is her refinement. Her scents are always gentle, never aromachemical nose punchers and despite the scary note pyramid this is also a meltingly soft and beautiful skin scent once the sparkle and razzle dazzle of the classic vintage aldehyde opening passes. Even the opening is somehow muted as though seen at a backward glance through rose colored glasses.
It reminds me of fur coats and Chanel no 5 but as a memory blurred and improved by time.

This is all about musk, cloves, spices (turmeric, peppers), and musk mallow. To be honest, i was quite shocked right now of my second try! as the first experience was quite jamming and overly filthy cause the note i wrote was full of musk, musk mallow, jasmines! while now i smell something more pleasant, contrasted quite well and balanced! i mean i don’t smell any overly animalic notes as i mentioned in my note before rather than mild musk and kind of animalic.
Now the calm down, i believe it’s the time where this fragrance transforms into more sour, bitter blend as i smell a balsamic, jasmines, musk, and musk mallow but the sweet vintage honey mix remains slightly still covering the naughty intentions and evil seductions.
I believe this fragrance could be sexually intensive somehow, luring, and kind of naughty and slightly devilish. quite a good blend.

Rendezvous leaves me completely in awe, satisfies my hunger for animalic, sexy, sultry, femme fatal fragrances. It does give me a complete pleasure that Caron Perfume Sacre or Lancome Magie failed to do. Rendezvous resembles the above but it’s a definite winner, an animalic masterpiece that these two scents could take lessons from. This fragrance roars with musk, civet, ambergris, castoreum, intensified by African Stone, ambrette and labdanum. I feel like I’m not dressed appropriately for the occasion. What am I doing in my yoga pants? I need a tight dress and high heels, and a man by my side who can’t stop sniffing my neck. As it becomes more sensual, Rendezvous blends so well with the indolic juhi jasmine, so my long search for a “dirty Jasmine” is finally over. I will stay faithful to you, Rendezvous. But, wait! There is more–an exciting addition of white pepper and aldehyde in the opening exhibits how skilled the perfumer is by making this fragrance unisex.
Longevity is amazing! Sillage medium, enough to get noticed.

    Rendezvous by DSH
This is my first impression, I will update the review as I wear it more.
Ah, I adore this mesmerizing beauty already, an unusual, arresting, sultry perfume with a fierce animalic opening.
Rendezvous is quite jarring to me, deeply evocative, transporting me back to my grandmother’s vanity. As a little girl, I loved to watch her carefully “put her face on”, it was important to her to dress up even for a simple trip to the grocery store. She was pure class. When she unfortunately passed, she left her furs, cigarette holder, perfume collection (that I sadly squandered away) an unique purse with a faux bamboo handle to me.
Rendezvous feels very old school, redolent of the classical perfumes found on my grandmothers mirrored perfume trays. Rendezvous is an amazing blend of the long gone perfumes with modern aesthetics. There is fiery power, beauty and sensuality in this fragrance.
I love Dawn Spencer’s work, everything this woman does is magic! It feels like a classical fragrance- its unabashed sexuality, the use of animalics, such luscious floral bouquet (gardenia, jasmine, orange flower) moss and aldehydes. All together, it is transcendent! Already during the short time on my skin, I smell the languorous smell of jasmine, aldehydes, potent oakmoss, (I love the wafts of dry moss) and funky civet. The fragrance is beginning to develop, the heady florals is in the forefront as a stunning ambery-labdanum warms up the composition. The oakmoss is still noticeable! I can’t wait to discover the possibilities of this enthralling fragrance.
DSH consistently produces adventurous, rich, complex, alluring, high quality fragrances.
