I’m really picky about what aroma I give off – not snobby, mind you, just irritatingly fickle. My husband bought this for me about 21 years ago, along with the body lotion. I loved it so much; it was sexy and sophisticated to me. Back then, I had no idea what was in it, and didn’t care. It was gorgeous to me. It was also going to last me years, because the sillage and longevity were ridiculously huge. But then…
I became pregnant with our 4th and last child, and I got a very bad case of “pregnancy nose”. Suddenly, I couldn’t smell this stuff without gagging. Even the cabinet I kept it in reeked of it, and any time I had to open that door I would have to hold my breath. I finally gave the 3/4ths full bottle to my eldest daughter, who was 13 at the time. She was quite happy, of course – her first “womanly” cologne. My only caveat was that she not wear it around me, lol.
Come to think of it, I believe I have to blame that break up on the cologne itself. If it hadn’t been so damn sexy, my husband wouldn’t have gotten so frisky. Perhaps the window of fertility would have passed without fulfillment on the night I got pregnant, and I would have stayed happily in love with Rapture.

MMMmmm..amber, orange blossom & white floral all mix and mingle in a sexy seductive, non-slutty way…”you might get lucky tonight, but you have to first buy me dinner in a really nice restaurant, and then take me dancing…and then to the theatre…and then maybe, just maybe…..” always a hint of seduction with this, even the grocery bagger who loads your bags into your SUV will likely be mesmerized by this sexy, seductive fragrance…and dream and think of you long after you’ve left….
Many years ago (decades ago, actually), I had a cousin whom I always looked up to, always looked and acted ‘put together’..She wore Charles of the Ritz..I used to call it ‘the square bottle with the gold and red foil label’..Back then, I had to have Charles of the Ritz and I saved my allowance until a bottle could find it’s way home to me. On my cousin, Charles of the Ritz smelled just like VS’s Rapture..sexy, seductive, and pulled together. Sadly on me back then, Charles of the Ritz smelled foul..Oh, how I wished it would smell like this..and now, I finally have what I hoped Charles of the Ritz would smell like on me..Funny coincidence that they both had red & gold..Both had a oh-so-slight-seductive warmth..
Gosh, Rapture is going to be wonderful for the cooler months ahead..Sexy, seductive, snuggle..leaves you with a feeling of soft sexy warmth a touch of a comforting and laid-back vibe.
Definite like for me, almost a l❤️ve!! (FWIW, my bottle was bought off of ebay, the ‘vintage’ heart-shaped bottle, not the recent re-release)

One of the boldest perfumes VS has ever made. It was romantic and had character, but I think they will never create it like it once was due to the IFRA or just VS wanting to remain so mainstream. This kind of perfume isn’t popular anymore, but it leaves an impression.

Absolutely love this perfume! Rich, sensual, long-lasting. Was my signature for 20+ years. Literally, the only perfume I owned during that time. When it was discontinued, I was fortunate to hear about it and bought extra bottles so I won’t run out. But the discontinuance also prompted me to venture out and start trying other fragrances, which is how I found this website. I very much appreciate the overviews and all the feedback from users.

@Imwimsatt: about 2 months ago, it was re-launched and for sale on Victoria’s Secret website only for a very short time, during the big sale online and in-store. It was gone after that. The re-launched version was in a square shape bottle, NOT the original heart shape, but the juice inside smelled the same to me.

This is a rich juice. Vey oriental/gourmand. suitable for winter and fall. I don’t detect any citruses, maybe because of the heliotrope base that dominates it. A well made perfume, im surprised it’s discontinued.

I adore the scent of this. It smells a bit like jasmine to me. Unfortunately it lasts about 30 minutes and disappears. I’d love to find a dupe that lasts.

Ladies, if you’re really missing Rapture, (I’m writing this in 2018) try CHILD by Susan Owens! It smells IDENTICAL, and has almost every note! Rapture notes: vanilla, citrus, jasmine, rose, musk, amber and wood base note. (not all of them) Child notes: vanilla, citrus, jasmine, rose and wood base notes!
I used to wear Rapture years ago, and it’s the ONLY perfume even strange men would approach me about, and ask what I was wearing because they wanted to buy some for their wives.
Just by coincidence, I tried Child and it smelled SO FAMILIAR!, I couldn’t put my finger on it..then I thought: “Omg! This smells like Rapture!” I looked up the notes in both, and sure enough, they share similar notes, with a couple different ones, but nonetheless, the fragrance is almost identical.
I recommend only putting this on the wrists, maybe a dab on the hair at the nape of the neck and around the knees and ankles. Don’t apply in the cleavage, behind ears or near your face, you WILL get a headache. The sillage is incredible, and can be overpowering. This scent is heavenly and divine, but only if applied very sparingly, same with Child.

Cant decide if I like this enough to buy or not. I like the warmth and ambery glow but its a bit on the woody side for my taste. I have issues with Samsara because of the strong sandalwood, it can come across as too masculine on me. The good news is right now VS is selling it for 75% off. It’s more a cold weather scent. If maybe wear it to a Christmas party but not everyday. Decent sillage and longevity.

Yay! I’m so glad Victoria’s Secret brought this back. Rapture is an old love of mine. I wish they had brought back the old bottle too, but what’s inside is more important. I haven’t owned or smelled this in a long time so I can’t say if it’s been reformulated, but it still smells great to me. I love the sweet orange blossom in the opening and then the vanilla-ish heliotrope develops along with a little rose. The amber is very prominent and is so warm and sensual. A fantastic offering from Victoria’s Secret!

@Suzycurlyq: thanks so much 🙂 Yes, I just saw it on VS website, in the rectangle shape bottle and even on sale too. It is the Semi Annual sale now. Don’t know if they also have it in stores. Will check it out. Hope that it is not reformulated 🙂

I’m really bummed out that this fragrance has been discontinued. It was one of my favorite fragrances. A beautiful intense floral that’s a little similar to Oscar de la Renta and Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt.

This one is definitely a heavy floral perfume (one of the legendary fragrances, as well as the Dream Angels Halo, of Victoria’s Secret back to its “Golden Days”). I did not like it very much then, but started to “reminisce” and appreciate it now at some levels. It is NOT a summer scent for sure. It can easily make me feel overwhelmed. Two sprays would be more than enough as it lasts and lasts.
And by the way, to whomever still gets confused with its existence, this whole line had been DISCONTINUED for quite awhile now, including the perfume, the cologne, lotion and body mist.

I want to start by saying how much I love this perfume. It is the best and most beautiful perfume Victoria Secret made and I am so happy that they never discontinued this. You can still buy it at Victoria Secret store where they sell it as the fragrance mist or the cologne. For the best version buy the cologne. Is the heart shaped amber gold bottle in the photo on this page. So beautiful and romantic. Victoria Secret used to make good parfum in the 90s but now is trash. This smell so classy and elegant. I smell at first the citrus orange blossom very fresh and pretty but then it turns into a big floral with jasmine rose heliotrope and freesia. The flowers are not too strong nor too realistic like green floral. Is white floral soft spicy powdery with a lot of attention to heliotrope. The dry part is warm with amber and musk. In the end the vanilla is strong and beautiful smell like powdery vanilla like a baked cookie. Sometime smell of a sweet liqueur. Sweet but not girly girl very womanly. Smell sexy and good for wearing when you want to dress up in beautiful dress and go to dinner with husband. Is good for any time of year but so warm for winter. My husband love this on me. Every time I finish the bottle I buy another one at Victoria’s Secret.

I treasure my bottle of this, which I received from my husband years ago for Valentine’s Day. I am thankful I have hung on to so many of my “older” perfumes because so many of them just are not made the same anymore.
This smells rich, glamorous, womanly. I used to have a bottle of the Original vS Victoria perfume which was so beautiful as well. I used every single drop of that one.
I used to work for VS back in the mid nineties. It was such a classy store then…wall to wall fuschia floral oriental style carpeting, heavy dark pink velvet drapes with satin tie backs. Classical music drifted through the store, as did the smell of drawer liners and even books of classic romantic poetry which were scented with Rapture. I loved this then and still appreciate it today, although I can barely stand to walk in to what has become of the VS establishment/brand.
Anyway, this is heavy on orange blossom, amber, spices and smells golden, slightly sweet, dry and boozey on my skin. I prefer it in the fall or winter and the evening.
    If you enjoy:
Avon Rare Gold, Red Pearl, Tuscany Per Donna by Estee Lauder, Raffinee, Escada Escada Collection, or Revlon Fire and Ice, I feel you may have an appreciation for this.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. ❤️

This is one of my top favorite scents of all time. I used to wear it in high school… It’s a sweet, woody, ambery, very feminine perfume. I always feel more put together when I’m wearing it. I really wish it wasn’t discontinued. I have a body spray and an EDP bottle that I’m cherishing every last drop of.

  21. :

I agree with Marie69….this is pretty strong and when wearing, you don’t need much at all. The difference between a lovely fragrance and an awful one is often over spraying. This is sandalwood, amber very slight florals and a tiny bit of vanilla. I used to dislike these non sweet non floral perfumes but I like them better the older I get esp in colder months. Its a cozy scent but apply very gently. Too much could be offensive or headache inducing. Its a lot different than most watery, fruity Victoria’s secret fragrances. This and Heavenly are the onlynones I like.

The trick with this one, this cognac coloured little lovely, is to wear such a tiny teeny amount, it is not one drop. I lifted the lid and let the lip bottom touch my hand and then rubbed that around and that is enough. With this much it is lovely, deep and soft and bourbon rich. This is extremely strong so just mind that. Easily overpower. TEsting today, a vintage mini, which is enough to last a lifetime. This is why minis I think are a good idea when one is trying out perfumes. I am very happy with my minis. Favourites go toooo fast though.

Rapture by Victoria’s Secret was quite a surprise for me!
I’ve never worn a Victoria’s Secret fragrance or lingerie in my entire life. I read the glowing reviews on this page which are mostly positive and thought I’d give it a chance. I ordered it online direct from the Victoria Secret website. The fragrance was delivered on time and I felt that there was nothing wrong with the bottle, not defective or anything even though initially upon looking at the bottle I was apprehensive. It has a plastic cheap look and even though it has the gold heart design with a lovely amber liquid, it still looks a bit cheap. It is probably the most beautifully designed bottles of the Victoria Secret fragrances. Most of them are body mists and don’t look that attractive. I also noticed that one called Scandalous which tried to look like an old atomizer but looked cheap too. I’m happy to say that this is not a cheap scent.
The first spritz is orange blossom. Delicious orange flavored notes of citrus, mandarin oranges. The refreshing citrus is not very long lasting however and the top notes dissipate quickly. The next thing I knew I was inhaling an aroma, a rather chemical aromatic scent of florals that were quite mature for a Victoria Secret fragrance. It smells of powdery iris despite the fact that there is no orris or iris flower in the mix. Some lovely light white floral notes are thrown in. I smell faint jasmine and freesia. They are pretty good white flowers but not the stars. They are in the background. Little freesia petals and jasmine petals.
A more obvious rose and heliotrope are definitely performing a magic in this fragrance which is beyond belief. The heliotrope smells of vanilla and the rose of powder. This is not a green rose or citrusy rose. It’s a distinct powdery rose scent like rose talc powder. Before it becomes too powdery, there’s a spiciness coming from God knows where. Perhaps the musk? Sometimes a musk aroma in fragrance can turn spicy. This is pretty spicy almost Latin style spicy dinner type of spicy. I found it quite engaging and intoxicating. I wonder what spices they added here. It doesn’t go too far but it’s a fair balance of citrus, florals, powder notes and spices.
Rapture she smells like a young Sophia Loren going to dinner in Hollywood seated next to Cary Grant. Such a golden glamorous romantic amber perfume with a spicy floral musky air. The amber note in the last stage of the dry down is quite lovely but for me it’s a vanilla fragrance that it becomes when it concludes it’s performance. This is a really fine vanilla based fragrance. All I can smell in the end when the driest part of the dry down emerges is good vanilla. The perfume is not cheap like it’s price. In fact this is a very well made and luxurious mature floral fragrance for a woman who would wear the same notes if it was on another perfume. I was quite shocked this was a Victoria Secret fragrance.
Frankly this is their best effort in perfume.

    Victoria’s Secret Rapture Cologne Spray
(Heart Shaped Bottle With Plastic Cap)
I encountered this fragrance back in 1992. I wore it only for dinner dates with my husband although sometimes I wore it as a fancy perfume to put on with formal black evening wear to social events and soirees in Charleston. This is the only Victoria’s Secret fragrance I wear. I’m not fond of their body mists and soft perfumes that don’t have any real life in them. They’re typically fruity and sweet, youthful, and catering to the under 18 girls who go shopping there. But Rapture is a mature woman’s fragrance. I love the cologne spray with the heart shaped bottle. Makes a fine gift on Valentine’s Day and an attractive bottle, no matter how cheap looking it is, for your dresser table. My initial impression, inhaling the scent right from the spray bottle, this is definitely a golden orange blossom, rich creamy amber, sweetened with florals, vanilla, and powder. All the notes seem to line up together.
The first spritz is fresh sweet citrus notes. They are listed as citruses but they seem to include artificial mandarin scents and orange. They are not as citrusy as one would expect. They provide the perfect introduction to the orange blossom that takes over. I happen to love orange blossom. Just to smell it in this fragrance is enough to weaken my knees. In Rapture, the orange blossom is not only citrusy floral but spicy. The spiciness is not too much. It smells like a delicious spice on an artistically created dish at a five star expensive luxury restaurant. I’m not sure if anyone else is getting that. It has a womanly aura of spices and florals.
As for these florals, orange blossom takes the lead, but she embraces her friends the heliotrope, rose and white floral notes of jasmine and freesia. Each flower is easily detectable. There could also be an unlisted orris, iris flower, or orris root. This would account for the powdery body of this fragrance. There is not a lot in the way of musk. Some musk, but mostly the vanilla. This is one of the most gorgeous vanilla based perfumes I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. The vanilla should be classified as the dominant note here not the amber as Fragrantica reviewers have it. The dry down, after the sweet powdery florals subside, turns into a distinct vanilla flower. Vanilla which can also smell like a delicate hand cream. Very well done.
This perfume makes me feel sexy, desirable, glamorous, and beautiful. It has something of an Old Hollywood air. Smells like a perfume in the collection of Rita Hayworth, Dolores Del Rio, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Rita Moreno, Ava Gardner, Lana Turner and Grace Kelly. Even when I’m not anywhere near their level of beauty and never will be, it matters not because the moment I am wearing this perfume it’s like I have turned into the most voluptuous and ravishing creature of my own imagination. And it’s really not just me. I have received many fine compliments on this perfume. “You smell so good” “You smell beautiful” “What perfume is that you’re wearing?” The usual. She is not too bold a fragrance, very much a boudoir scent with the spiciness and floral formality to also make it a perfume to wear out of the house on special occasions. It’s an invitation to love and romancelike the heart shape of the bottle suggests.
Romantic and elegant, sweet, classy, feminine and dreamy. This is by far the best fragrance Victoria’s Secret ever produced. Highly recommended even if you don’t wear VS perfumes. I don’t even see this as a VS perfume. In fact it has the same coloring, texture, and aura as Chloe Narcisse and Estee Lauder Spellbound. So if you wear those 2 frags but haven’t worn Rapture, check it out. You’ll love it.

If I am remembering the early 90s correctly, I think this was the first fragrance Victoria’s Secret ever put out and boy did it hit out of the ballpark that holiday season! I wore it again yesterday and coworkers that got near me asked, “what are you wearing? You smell so good!” It just made me realize again how unfortunate it is when a fragrance works so well on so many people, it becomes less valued in our society and the company ends up discontinuing something that could have and should have been a classic.

This is one of my very first fragrance loves, sweet and intoxicating, it smells like an opium dream. Long lasting, and great silage. The best VS has to offer IMO and Probably my very favorite orange blossom scent. A note of advice, a little dab will do it, this can be overwhelming if oversprayed. Starts off pretty cloying, but smells so wonderful when it settles down on the skin 🙂

    The Best of Victoria Secrets
    At No 2
    RAPTURE
Rapture is a romantic, elegant, spicy and sexy fragrance which stands alone among the VS frags as the most sophisticated and mature of any of their perfumes. I was blown away by this fragrance. I just couldn’t believe it was a Victoria Secret. It’s missing the fruitiness and the sweet girlishness yumminess of such scents as PINK and Heavenly. It’s also missing that deliciousness and edible fruity floral vibe from the other body mists and EDPs: Eau So Sexy, Very Sexy Noir Tease and Strawberries and Champagne.
It’s definitely a mature scent. It made me visualize an over 40 Latin woman in golden bracelets and jewelry with a lot of make up and a red cocktail dress. It was like Rita Moreno wore this perfume. But it’s not a bad thing. The fragrance is conservative but with a spiciness and sexual allure that an 18 year old girl that laughs with her girlfriends over nothing as she shops at the Victoria Secret boutique at the mall would never understand. This is a very glamorous fragrance. It’s oozing class from every note.
I have the gift set with the cologne, the perfume mini bottle and the lotion. There is also a Fine Mist that smells like the EDP and the cologne but with a shorter lifespan. The body lotion is terrifc. It’s a beautiful beautiful beautiful perfume although my 1 VS scent is still the crystal glass limited edition of the Heavenly parfum.
So what does this smell like?
Orange blossom at the first spritz, with a citrusy floral air. The citrus does not last as long as most other openings with citrus. The orange blossom embraces a Bulgarian rose and heliotrope along with a white floral freesia. This scent might also contain a jasmine. It had a light white floral scent but it is bigger on the rose and heliotrope. Powdery florals. The scent is flowery but not heavy or intensely floral. It’s sweet and powdery if only for a brief moment.
Then the dry down is a creamier and warmer vanilla with amber. This is my 1st experience with amber and I’m hooked. This smells like a Christmas party where they are making vanilla based desserts. It’s spicy and powdery, floral, creamy, amber with a musk that come together so perfectly as to feel like this fragrance is more than the sum of it’s parts. It smells like a million bucks. So luxurious.
The bottle is so cute shaped like a gold heart. I wish they had made a matching locket or pendant to go with it. The amber liquid inside is visible and the scent throws out more of an aroma than most of the other VS lines. Still, it’s not overwhelming and remains both spicy and delicate.
Stephen loves this perfume on me and I wear it to dinners and the theater. Beautiful and a must have for any fan of florals, ambers and vanilla.

    Beautiful!
This is one of the few Victoria Secret fragrances that I like. I think so many of them are body mists and sprays that smell like sugary fruit candy and don’t have a personality or presence. This fragrance is a gorgeous amber with white musk that smells like white chocolate, and a vanilla cream that smells absolutely delectable. To me it’s a gourmand fragrance, not a floral.
Flowery notes of Bulgarian rose, orange blossom and heliotrope provide this scent with the unmistakable womanly presence. True the floral notes turn to powder but not generic baby powder or familiar talc powder. It’s almost like an incense, soft but smoky floral. There is a light touch of citrus.
The scent turns into amber rather quickly. It reminds me sometimes of Jovan Secret Amber which I wore only recently but have not had time to analyze it yet. When I’m done I’ll review it. But this has always been my absolute favorite Victoria Secret perfume y’all!
It’s romantic, classy, elegant, delicious, womanly and easy to love. My husband loves this perfume on me. It is a bit outdated compared to the VS perfumes you’re going to find at the store but it’s such a good perfume. I have fond memories attached to this fragrance. I first wore it when I was dating my Scott and we would go out to dinners in Santa Monica and Long Beach California. It’s not “sexy” but it is romantic and beautiful.
The bottle’s design with the heart and the amber liquid matches up with the scent. It does smell so much like amber, but it’s richly layered with Bulgarian rose, orange blossom and heliotrope, flowers that when mingling with vanilla and musk become progressively spicier and powdery. It’s the damnest thing! How can one perfume be both that spicy and that powdery? It’s strong and yet soft.
I have the cologne spray and a larger Parfum bottle but it was selling as a tester in the Victoria Secret boutique and they sell on ebay. I would go with the cologne spray because the tester is too strong. On the tester the perfume is darker amber and more Oriental and not as sweet or pleasant as the cologne.
    Love this perfume y’all!!

    Fragrance Review For Rapture
    Victoria’s Secret
    Top Notes
    Citrus Orange Blossom
    Middle Notes
    Bulgarian Rose Freesia Jasmine
    Base Notes
    Heliotrope Vanilla Amber Musk
    Cologne
    Beyond Love There Is Rapture
The vintage cologne bottle is one of those darling dresser table bottles. This comes in a gold colored heart shape with a little heart shape (heart within a heart) glass from which you can see the contents, am amber orangey liquid. This is a beautiful amber perfume. Being a cologne spray, it’s more of a light mist and the concentration is lighter and more subtle than an Eau de Parfum. Rapture is not a typical Victoria Secret fragrance. It is not heavy but it’s not fruity or sweet. It is definitely a mature fragrance for women who would appreciate the amber, the touch of musk and the delicious vanilla, not to mention the flowers.
It’s easy to wear but it does have a spiciness which I associate with the evening. It’s a formal fragrance to wear to dinners, romantic getaways, weddings, anniversaries or out on dates. It doesn’t make a statement because it doesn’t project too much. The fragrance opens with what smells like citrus based notes: orange blossom with orange and citronella. It’s interesting how sometimes when I put this on I can detect the orange blossom and the citruses but they’re not sharp nor accentuated notes of citrus like other fragrances based on citrus. This is a brief passing citrus. Most of the time I get the spiciness and the spicy-floral aura. It smells of spiced up white flowers of jasmine and freesia but it gradually softens into powdery floral notes of heliotrope and rose. It’s not a hardcore Bulgarian rose but more of a sweetly powdered rose, tenuous, delicate and womanly. The heliotrope is clearly the biggest floral note at least on me but it’s as powdery as the rose. This is one of the most beautiful pairings of rose and heliotrope as I’ve ever encountered. At the same time it’s not heavy powder or in your face powder. It’s a soft fragrance and it’s more of a boudoir perfume to wear for seduction, although it can be worn to go out in public as well.
After the spicy-floral and powder fades away, there is a deep amber. The amber is absolutely gorgeous and resinous, with an Oriental character. It’s a beautiful amber that takes over the scent but it’s married to coumarin, although they are calling it musk. It’s definitely coumarin and it’s not heavy or the big player either. I could hardly call this a musky perfume. The creamy vanilla emerges in the dry down. It’s a really nice vanilla which can also soften into a powder. This is all about the amber and vanilla. Absolutely beautiful.
This makes a really nice gift for any woman who loves perfume but I would not believe that younger crowds would appreciate it. It smells like a happily married lady, not some 21 year old whose only fragrance is that of a brewery as she dances with a lot of guys at nightclub. This is a romantic evening cologne with spice, coumarin, deep amber, vanilla and a beautiful mix of flowers. The fragrance does not last as long as it should. I don’t know if it comes in Eau de Parfum but I would love this scent to have stronger projection but I suppose the VS line doesn’t specialize in heavier scents. This is still very beautiful. I bought this fragrance at the Victoria Secrets boutique in London where it stood all alone and lonely and wanted someone to take her home. So I took her home.

I love the heart shaped bottle. I have the cologne spray, vintage 1992 edition. This is not a boudoir perfume or a soft fragrance to scent your lingerie with. The last time I wore this was when my boyfriend at the time bought it for me as a Valentines Day gift. This was the last gift he ever sent me as he served 3 consecutive tours of Duty with the Navy Seals and Marines during the war in Iraq. We broke up after he got back. This perfume is a mature, cozy, warm, golden, rich, luxurious, floral amber. It’s definitely for grown up ladies and something to wear on a romantic date. It’s a fancy dinner perfume. You have to wear it with your best evening clothes. I can’t tell you how much this perfume affects me. It makes me feel sexy and younger, not older despite the mature scent association. This is supposed to have notes of citrus, orange blossom, freesia, jasmine, rose, amber, musk vanilla and heliotrope. I would also add honey spices and musk, even some leather. It’s very old fashioned and on the Oriental side. The flowers that most come up are heliotrope, jasmine, rose and orange blossom. There’s something like a sweet honey, but it could be that amber. There’s also a very nice vanilla dry down. This is so beautiful and such a shame it has fallen on the wayside. You can still buy this perfume on websites like Fragrance X and ebay still sells the vintage originals. I bought this perfume on ebay and it smells just as heavenly as the first time I put my nose to it. I will wear this for my new man. Thank you Victoria Secret!

A common theme throughout my reviews – I am a snob. I would never have tried Rapture if a dear Fragrantican had not sent me a mini splash in a care package. I thought I was too good for VS – VS is for teenagers playing at being adults. But this is one of the best orange blossom perfumes, which is saying quite a lot, because it is one of my favorite notes. And the background is all smooth sweetness. This is ultra-feminine without being cloying. It’s not bombastic or soapy. It’s just lovely. However, like so many good things, it is discontinued.

I had a boyfriend who was crazy for this scent, so I bought some. I normally love strong, spicy scents (Opium, Obsession, etc), and I ADORE amber, so based on the notes I thought I’d love it. Wrong! This is so incredibly potent and over the top as to be completely annoying. I haven’t tried the body lotion, so maybe that’s more tolerable, but I have to pass on this one. I hate to say it, but it has the “grandma” factor.

    There are two versions:
Cologne spray – powdery non sweet jasmine.
Many say it’s very sweet but I don’t find this very sweet at all.
The eau de parfum is sweeter honey like with less powder than the cologne.
Even though no one has mentioned this, Rapture reminds me of a softer version of Chloe Narcisse.
Lotion reminds me of samsara edt on my skin. It would layer excellently with samsara as well.
It’s got an 80s vibe but the softness, is not like e.g. amarige, samsara, white diamonds etc.

This is one of the scents that started my love affair with perfume. I got it in a gift set that also included Victoria, Heavenly, Devine, and Halo when I was a teenager. I still love all those scents but of the 5 this one really stood out to me. I don’t usually like heavy old fashioned orientals which is what I hear about this scent all the time. For one it is NOT super heavy. It is very sweet. More sweet then spicy. It is a very sophisticated scent not at all girlish. The most mature scent VS ever made. For whatever reason, this scent is lovely, comforting, like being enveloped in a warm, soft perfume blanket. And it really is amazing with my body chemistry. One of my top five of all time.

People have described this as deep, warm, ambery, woody, floral, like velvet, and animalic, sensual, spicy.
Correct! Deep rose-colored velvet in a sandalwood box.
It’s like an old-school deep oriental, less powdery and warmer, mixed with a heavy sweet floral like White Shoulders….roses, jasmine, no light showery or airy florals (probably what are called white florals; I’m a total newbie). Or maybe just a tiny amount of them.
It is beautiful, butit screams adult, conscious femininity and sensuality, not only because it combines the 2 types of scent most associated with mature, sexy, womanhood.
