bought it because it was on sale, $12 for 50ml
and someone had told me this smells amazing
but when i got this, such a mess.
this is such an artificial terrible perfume that i could not stand for even a moment.
Maybe on summer days it will be better.

It’s interesting how tastes change as one’s nose improves. I used to enjoy Quartz Silver as a cheap and cheerful scent. Now it just smells cheap.
I touched on Quartz Silver’s sweetness in my previous, now deleted, review. That’s about all I agree with now. Quartz Silver is a thin, lifeless mess of sweet citrus and violet. There’s no depth and very little development. And it’s certainly no chypre. Where’s the oakmoss or labdanum? I’d even settle for some musk. Instead, the base is feeble and nondescript. There’s some spiciness, but nowhere near enough to make this interesting.
Overall, Quartz Silver is a scent for someone who doesn’t really care about fragrances and doesn’t want to pay too much. There’s nothing here for the enthusiast – you’ll need to find your cheap thrills elsewhere.

I got caught by surprise when, in 2012, in an international trip to Buenos Aires, I came across this release in a perfume store. As a faithful lover of the traditional fragrance and aware that the Molyneux colognes are far from being the most expensive among the Designers, I didn’t think twice before test it and, consequently, buy a bottle.
Quartz Silver is considered a fougère, but I rate it as a fruity-oceanic, whose aroma combines perfectly with the blue color of its liquid. Brings notes of lemon, orange and cardamom from Guatemala, right in the output. Then, combines notes of cinnamon, violets, lavender and cedar in the heart. Finally, the base brings notes of patchouli and tonka bean.
The official press release says that the fragrance leads us to a tropical forest, with an aroma of fresh and green nuances. I kind of agree with the idea of the tropical forest, but not on the green side. For me, it’s closer to the forest side that surrounds a waterfall, with some fruit trees around and a certain humidity in the air, produced by falling water mist.
The fragrance touches the skin in a fruity way, with the orange juice and the touch of cardamom. Forget the lemon! He does not appear. The heart beats strong and the lavender, along with the violet, dominate the evolution. The cinnamon note is barely noticeable, it’s not a cologne rich in spices. And from the base, you can feel a slight creaminess of the tonka bean.
It’s a typically blue scent, which fits very well on hot days. While Quartz Pour Homme represents the more formal side, Quartz Silver presents a more relaxed and youthful side of the brand.
It projects less than its predecessor (at least on my skin), but has good durability.
