Description

After the success of last year’s edition Paco Rabanne Pure XS for Him, advertised by Francisco Henriques, the woman’s version is announced, described as wild and very provocative. Paco Rabanne makes a new step in the XS line by launching PURE XS FOR HER EAU DE PARFUM: an erotic floral-oriental edition advertised by the new brand ambassador, American actress and model Emily Ratajkowski.

The perfumer who composed and signed the newest Rabanne release is Quentin Bisch. “A wildly provocative – and wildly untamed – floral created by Quentin Bisch, an impassioned and passionate perfumer at Givaudan. Inspired by one of his trips to Reunion Island, he came back to Paris obsessed with a heady, dazzling ylang-ylang. His goal: to bottle the essence of an orgasm, an explosion of the senses brought within reach with a distinctive Paco flair. Quentin has devised a detonating duo: magnetic ylang-ylang on an intriguing popcorn-note explosion. The notes vibrate against each other, together in tension. To trigger, in an avalanche of the senses, a moment of explosive erotica.”

The formula explosion: ylang-ylang, vanilla, popcorn note, sandalwood, ambrette seeds.

The photo campaign is realized by the famous photographer Nathaniel Goldberg, who is also behind the Million and Pure XS campaigns. The face and muse for the newest Paco Rabanne creation is Emily Ratajkowski.

The sculptural bottle resembles the shape of the Black XS Eau de Parfum from 2018 with sharper edges then the previous Black XS editions, made in an ombre-style of powder pink shades, while the pink outer box is made with a velvety finish and gold-colored details.

The fragrance Pure XS For Her is available as a 30ml Eau de Parfum, 50ml Eau de Parfum and 80ml Eau de Parfum.

First, I fell in Love with the bottle…
I’m adicted! Fascinated with this wild, shinny, black, vigourous horse! When I tried it, it seamed too strong and impetuous…! Much like Black Opium, Poison Girl or LVB… But first impressions do go wrong…! This one really changes as time passes. After 30mn the wild horse settles down and shows its tenderness, his pure soul mixing with your skin, giving you a sense of well-being❤️….
In the process I felt like The Horse Whisperer…but I was mistaken. It’s the perfume that keeps whispering to me…

🙂 A scent for cinema-time! At least it does not make noises.. 😉

This is a very strong and long lasting scent, almost overhelming in my nose.
It’s reminds me a lot of YSL Black Opium-, Lancome La Vie Est Belle- and all their siblings in infinity as example.

This is actually – embarrassing to admit – what I was hoping Casmir would be like; warm, soft, vanillic, with a sweet whisper of peach sparkling through. As it is, more experienced people than me could probably read the notes of Casmir and know it would be nothing like that…
In any case, this is quite strong, or so people tell me – I can smell it just fine for the first hour or so, but after that I smell nothing, yet people around me seem to be of the opinion that I can fill up an entire room. And that’s after two sprays, so be gentle.
It is warm, and sensual, and just a little bit over the top, without being “loud” – there is a smile playing in the corner. I like it.

YUMY, it’s the word that describes this perfume. Sweet, sexy, warm and long lasting. Really good perfume, just wish sillage was better, but in terms of longevity this one is really good, my wrists still smelled of the perfume after 12+ hours.

I want this perfume so bad!!! I love everything about it that I don’t even have to smell it to buy it, I can already smell it in my head and it is soooo goood!!! I love this article, the wording used, the pictures, ohh that geourgeous soft pink bottle with the golden snake around it. I am drooling. I will get the biggest bottle.

I get the salty popcorn in this one (or at least I get the saltiness, whether coming from popcorn or something else), mixed with sweet vanilla and florals.
I have a really hard time deciding whether I actually like this scent on me or not – the same happened to me with Olympea first. And like some others having reviewed this before me, I do get a lot of the same vibe out of this one as I get from Olympea. The two scents are not identical by any means, but they do share a lot in common.
Hopefully I will grow to like this more. Right now I would definitely choose Olympea above this, Olympea being a slightly more complex and intriguing scent than this one.

Smooth black dress. Sweet, balsamic, yellow yang-ylang with a savory twist. There is something dusty and balsamic luxurious about it. I can’t specifically call it floral, fruity or vanilla, all notes are quite well blended. Pleasant and different from most sweet gourmand perfumes. For younger woman. I personally don’t sense here popcorn or salt as main notes, they are somewhere in background well blended. I also wouldn’t say it’s similar to Olympea, maybe just a drop of it. They both represent different styles.

Popcorn))) Beautiful bottle, but nothing special)

This fragrance is nice. At the beginning i get an intensive popcorn note. Buttery and salty. Really savory and different. Later, i start to smell something sweet, but the salty note is still there. At this stage, it reminded me a bit of Olympea, but pure xs is a bit darker and has more personality. The sweetness doesn‘t combine very well with the popcorn note though. It would have been better to let the Popcorn reign supreme, or to make a caramelized Popcorn note. But it doesn’t ruin this perfume. It is still very nice despite that.
Sillage is impressive for the first 30 minutes, after that it becomes soft.
    Longevity is very good.

Kind of sad because I expected much more.
This is still a beautiful scent but to me it smells just like the dry down of Shay and Blue Salted Caramel.
Maybe a touch muskier and fruitier but so similar.
On me I found it quite soft, sweet and comforting.
Would not say its sexy or a “going out” fragrance.
More like cuddling up to someone on the couch, on a cold winters day, with snacks and a good movie to watch.
If I didn’t already have salted caramel I would consider getting this.

It’s vanilla, popcorn and sweet. Without the absolutely perceptible popcorn note that burns off pretty fast this would be depressingly forgettable. Has a very commercial feeling to it which goes straight to the amygdala. Definitely not bad, just not very interesting.

If you’re looking for a big buttery salted bowl of pop corns..here it is…just for a minute! Sorry for starting like @krukmary but here’s my opinion.
I was in a dermatological conference in a Mall so when I left, I said why not visiting Sephora to check if they finally brought Pure XS for her? Suddenly I saw the bottle alone, na-na-na ta-ta-ta the song of the ad (from Carmen’s opera) came to my mind. Let’s see if it’s so orgasmic and sexy as they advertise it although I am not a fan of Paco Rabanne.
First spray and I was like, hmm where’s the pop corn, that’s why I am here…Second smell, Jesus! I can smell the buttery ‘salty’tone although salt hasn’t an aroma. That’s it. After that you get a strange fruity-ness (again I dislike fruity fragrances) and maybe a touch of peach with a floral vibe. Then say hello to Olympea. If you tell me that Pure XS for her was a new edition of Olympea I would believe it 100%. Finally, the musk is really well done, I have never tested Olympea on skin to have an idea how it ends, but Pure XS for her is amazing only due to it’s base notes.
The projection is very good, I would say that sillage is as strong as ‘kind’ at the same time. We usually vote as moderate and long lasting the latest perfumes releases and I am sure we all miss a good sillage so everybody would connect us with a perfume, our signature. So, what we have here is a musky, flowery, kind of sweet (not gourmandise at all) perfume that combines perfectly sandalwood/good quality of musk/ambrette & an oriental flowry drop. Do I like it? On skin yes/not much, on clothes no. Is it idonic-orgasmic-erotic? It’s simply sexy and belive me preppy for a lady. Does it reminds me of any other perfumes out there? The buttery feeling of Miss Dior Cherie EDP, the excellent musk in Burberry Body EDP and of course Olympea from the same house. Does it worth the money? Hmm ok, it does but only if you’re a fun of musky perfumes and you need a twist to your collection. Be aware that 30 ml bottle doesn’t have the golden snake. Give it a try, but don’t expect a WOW feeling.

If you’re looking for the scent of a big, buttery bowl of salty popcorn, it’s not to be found in Pure XS. There isn’t a literal, foody popcorn note here and I would not place Pure XS in the gourmand fragrance category. That being said, I *can* smell a noticeable salt-type note if I put my nose really close to my perfumed arm; it’s almost “mineral,” as another reviewer mentioned. Ylang ylang is the star here, and the other notes temper it for a smooth, dry, well-blended effect. I mostly notice powdery ambrette seed and the salty note, but they are much less noticeable than the ylang ylang to me. I hope this helps someone who may be deciding whether to buy this blind, like I did! Pure XS isn’t what I expected, but I’m happy with what it is!

I like the golden snake, it’s really cool. The scent is nice, mild fruity-floral, there’s lots of sweetness and a warm scent in it.
It’s not groundbreaking or anything new, it’s a simple shampoo-scent.
I don’t get any popcorn notes. Vanilla, musk and light floral mixed with light fruity notes.
The base notes are the nicest, I think it’s enjoyable.

I love this and bought a full bottle . I love the popcorn note ! Delectable and savoury . Perfect for cooler winter weather .

I was really curious to try this and looking forward to the popcorn note.
At first I sprayed it onto paper and the popcorn was there, indeed. Yum, it reminded me of going to the movies!
So, I was even more excited to try it on my skin, but sadly, there was no popcorn. Not a trace.
Very quickly it turned into Olympéa (which I used to have when it came out) or at least it smelled extreeemely similar to it.
It’s nothing special, that’s my conclusion.

Not a grounbreaking fragance, with a terrible bottle and hideous advertising…but elegant, pleasant and well balanced. This is still edible, but not overtly sweet, with a beautiful, balmy ylang-ylang (that recalls me the floral-fruity fragances of the late 80′ and first 90′: heady, complex, multilayered…) dominating the composition, a syrupy, greenish, very vegetal vanilla, and a pop-corn note which is almost mineral. Delicate hints of orange blossom, sandalwood, traces of patchouli, coconut and peach round the perfume.
This is a good perfume for a young woman, in semi-formal, even professional events. Performance is very good.

Although I wouldn’t call it provocative and untammed, whatever silly messages behind it, it is a very nice smooth , sensuous oriental perfume…it has an interesting development, it is full of personality…the popcorn isn’t like very present, neither is the scent a big gourmand, it is to my nose a floral oriental, very well done…reminds me of Kenzo Flower Elixir a bit…The ylang ylang is the kind I like, not too vibrant…all in all, the notes mix in a harmonious way, the orange blosso pops up in the heart too..this is a feminine sexy scent, it exudes a certain class, it is very womanly too…nice, I really like it,,longevity is good, and I do wear it at the office, it is like casual, and isn’t super heady, and better in cold weather..
I don’t care much for the tacky snake on the bottle, but it is a matter of taste.
    Lovely creation !

When this was first released, I was reading the comments and several members had mentioned that this was pretty much “Netflix and chill” in a bottle. Aaaaand, they were right! This smells like you’re snuggled up on the couch, with a big bag of popcorn and there’s a vanilla candle burning nearby. I do like the fragrance very much though! However, I sadly didn’t have an orgasm upon spraying it (darn it!), nor do I find it erotic. I do, however, find it playfully sexy though; it’s flirtatious for sure. The popcorn note is very strong on my skin, followed by the ylang ylang, which warms it up. The vanilla adds a touch of sweetness, without it smelling like candy (not that I would mind that). Longevity on my skin is around 6-7 hours with moderate sillage. The bottle is awesome; great presentation. I got a velvet makeup bag with the serpent when I received my order, which is great because I needed a new one anyways. Overall, I’m really pleased with Paco Rabanne’s newest release, though I do think “Netflix and chill” is a more appropriate name. LOL

The bottle lured me across the department store, and I stood helpless as the snake began to charm me. Transfixed and vulnerable, it bit me with a shock of popcorn and ylang ylang, the venom dripping from its fangs.
I stood paralysed as the snake wrapped itself around me, altering my senses and seducing me with temptations of beautiful flowers and warm vanilla fruit… I couldn’t resist and gave in to the pleasure as all of my senses were lost.
I awoke to the heady aroma of an intoxicating gourmand. “Ahhh…my first perfume orgasm”, I thought.
Damn. I wanted to dislike this. But I can’t. It’s up there with all the other crowd pleasing gourmands. I feel used. How will I explain this to Adam, as the scent of betrayal still lingers on my skin?

Jimmy Choo’s Illicit and a smidge of Shay&Blue’s Salted Caramel, mixed and poured into one of the most amazing bottles!
I like both above mentioned fragrances, but I purchased Pure XS because I LOVE the presentation 🙂

I tried this today-the popcorn note is really strong and noticeable. And after that it is a nice fruity floral musky scent. I would give it top marks for originality, as I don’t know of another perfume that smells like popcorn. Lasted good 5-6 hours on my skin. I don’t feel this is for me personally, as I don’t want to be going about my day smelling like popcorn, but I do appreciate it is nicer and different that some other “new” realises(looking at you Dior Joy). Also I think this is a very fun scent-good for going out or doing anything really, as long as it is not work. It’s not that it can’t be a safe office scent, but I just can’t imagine anyone at work would take me seriously if I turn up smelling like popcorn and flowers. Overall a nice original new perfume, just not for me. 7/10

I knew I had to have this as soon as I saw the bottle – the snake is amazing! I blind bought it based on the bottle if honest but to me this does exactly as they say: it exudes sex. This is definitely not office appropriate and should be reserved for nights out on the town or when you want to “get in the mood”. This is a very sweet vanilla with a strong floral edge that develops around 30 minutes after spraying. I love it!

Le flacon est superbe…. Le jus j’ignore mais il est intriguant. Je crains juste qu’il soit gourmand, ce que ma peau ne supporte pas…

A very pleasant and lovely scent but that´s all.
It´s like 100 other scent but just after a beautiful opening which is pretty and unique with a gorgeous buttery sweet popcorn note and some fruity notes like peach. This opening is really lovely, very like a vanilla-butter biscuit.
How it start to calm down this lovely mix dissapear and the floral notes get stronger ,mostly the jasmine petals and the ylang-ylang.The vanilla is very smoky and dusty like in Amo Ferragamo. The vanilla and the sweetness is not too much but it´s too common. The whole composition is around that smoky-vanilla with some floral notes and with a special fruity powderyness. It´s not bad,it´s very likeable and pleasant and so feminine. The scent is sweet, smoky, vanilla, floral, with a hint of soft spicyness.
The longevity is amazing,it last the whole day.Ideal for fall and winter & maybe spring.

I like this. It reminds me of Olympea but a fruity version of Olympea. There is a salt note going on. The popcorn works surprisingly well. It’s sweet and slightly gourmandish.

For 1986 and HoneyBee1982, it’s true! I still have the previous page of this perfume in my wish-list that suddenly disappeared from fragrantica, so no worries.
It’s also so strange that yesterday I was about to start a topic about it like: “What happened with Pure XS for her?” They would call me an oracle today haha. I am very curious like all of you are but mostly due to the pop corn-ish note, the ‘orgasmic’ essence and the unique sweetness that is a crowd pleaser and very well done by Paco Rabanne.
Soon I am going to review it so stay tuned 🙂

  33. :

@1986 Oh, I didn’t mean my actual reviewed comment. I meant the whole entire thread, even the perfume itself disappeared from fragrantica, lol. Tried to search it again after, and it couldn’t be found. Maybe they had to change some things about the article or the database on the perfume. But it’s back now, so no worries! Can’t wait to try this one… sounds so yummy! 🙂

It’s hilarious how they in perfume marketing manage to turn each end every actress with charisma and personality like Lawrence and Ratajkowski into lifeless plastic sex dolls. I believe the fragrance itself will be worth it’s image as it already happened to Pure XS for Him.

We have it in the UK now, has anyone else tried it? I’m curious to hear other people’s thoughts!
Personally I’m not a fan, but I can’t work out why not – I like the listed notes individually! I’ve tried it both on a blotter and on skin but there’s just something a little off about this one for me, I can’t put my finger on it!
I like the ylang ylang, I like popcorn as a note, but there’s something that’s not working for me.
One plus for those who do like this it’s soooo so long lasting, couldn’t get rid of it on my skin! haha

I am so STOKED to try this one! Even more excited that one of my favorite perfumers Quentin Bisch is behind it. Considering he was also the nose behind Angel Muse, my signature perfume. Not sure what happened, they had this up on here a few weeks ago, I put my review on it, then went back at a later time and it had completely disappeared, kinda weird. Really diggin’ the bottle with the gold snake wrapped around it. But on an other note… popcorn?! I’ve never smelled that in a perfume before, excited to see how that will mingle with the ylang-ylang,vanilla, popcorn, ambrette (musk mallow) and sandalwood. Hope it comes to Canada soon 🙂

Curious to try this. It seems very promising which is quite a change! Haven’t felt this hopeful for a new release for a while. ☺
