greenbluegray, I think you are right. In my opinion it is the same scent as the original Pure…They started adding Drop of Vanilla, after there had came out Drop of Rose and Drop of Verbena. Fragrantica is not always right (including the notes of lots of scents here) Unfortunatelly the admins don’t listen to our suggestions – in our reviews or even in the fragrantica forum 🙁

Isn’t this the same as the original DKNY Pure? I thought “A drop of vanilla” was just a tagline in the advertising. I bought this when it was first out and agree it is a warm skin scent, more warm than fresh. I am obsessing about musk/vanilla combos lately, and this is a nice easy mild one which did have some sort of improved ethics in the making, I believe.
I also had the verbena version but grew tired of it and went back to this. The rose is not for me either. I love the simple bottle.

The name said it all. A drop of Vanilla, yes it is only a drop, not more. Quite safe but beautiful. More like a skin scent. If you want people notice what you wear, this is not for you. But if you want to enjoy it yourself, this is a very good one. I sniffed my wrist all the time when i wear this.
Anyway i just bought this a week ago, never thought i could find this, and with a very cheap price. How lucky i am.

Smells like morning dew and vanilla
Weak sillage and longevity.
Best for a woman in her 30s for day time wear.

Does anyone else think this smells like Alien? Or maybe one of Alien’s spring or summer flankers. Alien is my favorite fragrance (actually alien essence Absolue) and I have several flankers and to me, Pure DKNY Drop of Vanilla smells like it could be part of the Alien family. Anyone else? Or am I crazy?

This is not my cup of tea. I was expecting a soft, powdery vanilla scent but it smells kinda acidic to my nose. If I ignore the acidic part, this is indeed an inoffensive vanilla scent. It’s not gourmand at al, but more on the floral side. Great for spring/summer, too boring for winter and fall.
The sillage and longevity are both weak.

This is one of my favorite vanilla scents. It’s soft, creamy, and airy, like vanilla foam. This is one I reach for when I just want to smell nice and don’t want to wrestle with the perfume I’m wearing. It’s inoffensive, perfect for even a conservative office. One of the better DKNY scents I’ve tried.

This is awesome, although I’m not sure yet if I want to hit the ”love” or the ”like” button. It’s somewhere in between. True, it’s not a typical vanilla perfume, it literally has a drop of vanilla. This fragrance is a floral-powdery jewel and I love how notes are combined in it. I wish it was a huge lasting bomb, for now it’s kind of moderate for me. Try it, it’s worthy.

This is what I was looking for, in a vanilia-parfume.
It´s not a heavy, nauseating,pastry cream-smelling parfume.
It´s clean, fresh, and has a soft scent of vanilia. It´s a lovely parfume, for when you go to a beach- or a barbecueparty in the summer. It´s inoffensive, and you can´t really go wrong with this one.

This is a clean and fresh scent with a Vanilla-note dancing in base togheter with Sandalwood and Amber.Perfect for the office or just every-day-use. Not to loud and not to weak either. Just perfect and delicious.
En ren och fräsch doft med vanilj som dansar i basen tillsammans med sandelträ och amber. Perfekt kontorsdoft eller bara en varje-dag-doft. Inte för kraftig, inte för vek. Bara perfekt och delikat.

Vanilla and I had a falling out after university, and I just recently discovered that I like it in certain iterations. Pure DKNY A Drop of Vanilla is just how I want it. Freshest and cleanest I have ever smelled the note as. Very well-played floral-vanilla that has nothing gourmand about it (I am not partial to gourmand, at all). In fact, it has nuances that make it comforting during cool days, and others that make it refreshing on warm ones. I happen to know people who gag at the smell of vanilla perfumes, but I can’t imagine them being offended by this. Very nice.

my sister bought me this in my confusion over the old pure/pure drop of vanilla debate. I thought I had sent her the link on amazon for original pure and this is what arrived. nevertheless I like it. what I love about original pure is the floral undertone. this is very powdery vanilla along the same vein as birtney spears inimate fantasy. I like it, not love.

I find this fragrance to be quite comforting-it’s clean, warm, and feminine without being heavy. The vanilla, sandalwood, and freesia are the main players on my skin, while the white amber gives them a lovely base to float upon. I do get hints of rose and orchid, but they are not dominant notes. It’s a pity this is not more well-known because it’s really quite nice. I plan on buying a backup bottle.

This is a really lovely perfume. I’ve had it for a little over a year and forget to wear it but I can’t explain why. It’s not terribly unique but it is comforting, sweet and feminine…..cozy for sure. I feel like there is enough Sandalwood and Orchid here to offset the rose…it’s not a rose perfume. The vanilla is well played too in that it’s not a one-note vanilla perfume. Something in there occasionally reminds me of tobacco….just a little bit. This is NOT a replica of Joop Le Bain but it is in a similar vein (to me..anyway)…it’s more sweet and floral but it shares a likeness of coziness. I really enjoy this one and should wear it more often. As I type and sniff, I’m also reminded of the old-school, clear/amber colored Neutrogena soap bars. I found my small bottle of Pure Drop of Vanilla at TJ Maxx for under $10 and I occasionally see this one..along with Drop of Rose, still on the shelves.

Finally this is in the database! It’s been out for quite some time. I love this lovely, softly aquatic, summery take on vanilla. It is becoming more and more difficult to find due to the lack of publicity on the company’s part, as well as lack of understanding on the consumer’s part that it is in fact a different scent from its parent Pure, as the bottle is not labelled differently. The difference is the cap color: original Pure’s cap is silver. Drop of Vanilla has a slightly more golden cap, not to be confused with Drop of Rose’s rose gold cap.
