Description

Disturbing, fascinating, powerful and greedy. Such is the addiction of our desires. The excitement that invades us opens on spirited notes of cloves, cardamom, basil and bergamot. The beating of a heart that is pounding on spanish labdanum, cedar wood, precious wood sage and leaving us vanish on a set of amber, white musk and patchouli.

A disturbing fragrance, fascinating, herbaceous, powerful.

Pure Addiction was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Patrick Bodifée.

I agree, for all the leather and rubber at the beginning, it settles quite well after an hour or so. A skin scent without great sillage beyond arms length. Then again I have only sprayed my hand so may project better if more used. very different scent indeed.
1 day later can still smell on hand, drydown is amazing, can see why it gets the name addiction now 🙂

I truly love this perfume. Its fresh Mediterranean spring in a bottle.
It brings back childhood memories, I can remember the fields in early spring, this is exactly how they smelt. WOW it takes me back in time !!!
The clary sage is done beautifully here, my family and in general the people of specific regions in the Mediterranean use clary sage as a flavouring in their tea; it is also drunk on its own as herbal medicine but it has a bitter taste.
It has a lot of basil too, blended so nicely with clary sage.
The perfume is so clean and fresh, with a hint of woodsy notes to give it more depth.
What a beautiful scent, Im mesmerised.

Launched in 2014, along with the other creations of the collection called Premium Collection, this fragrance was made for men and women and can be categorized as Woody-spicy. However, it is much more than that. In the official composition, we have notes of Basil from Vietnam, cardamom from Guatemala, cloves from Madagascar and Italian bergamot, at the top of the olfactory pyramid. Then, in the body of the fragrance, were inserted notes of Virginian cedar, French Sage, labdanum from Spain and precious woods. At the base, we can find notes of amber, white musk, patchouli from Indonesia and, once again, labdanum from Spain.
It is very clear that there was no economy in the use of raw materials of the best quality. And on the skin, the result is intriguing: sometimes it behaves like a fougère. Other times, like a chypre. The output is rich in bergamot and cloves, with a light seasoning of Basil. It’s one of those fragrances that draw attention and ensure the purchase, right off the bat, without having to wait for the rest of the evolution and development.
As time passes by, it is possible to notice the emergence of woody nuances that go toward a base of discrete and balsamic aspect.
On my skin, it doesn’t have an absurd projection, but has good durability. But it is worth saying that I don’t see Pure Addiction being worn by women, with ease. In my opinion, it’s very masculine, with that classic aroma reminiscent of the 80’s and made for moments of elegance.
My bottle is of the first one type, painted on the front and on the back. But the current bottles are bringing arabesques on the back, with transparent glass on the front. The lid is heavy and full of notches. And the box that embraces the bottle is elegant and complements the shopping experience. Nice work!

My first experience with Paul Emilien.
    The opening is :
Spicy and peppery Eau de Cologne like scent fresh and vibrant. Good for warmer weather climates if you want to have an uplifting scent around you. (reminds me a bit of Oscar de la Renta’s Men)
In fact i like the middle stage of the scent when the basil kicks in. (aprox 10 minutes) then cedar and green notes take over.
The sad part is for its drydown.
The drydown is a Clove-fest and im not into Cloves this much and all i smell is cloves and on the far backgrounds some greens and a bit of musk.
Expected more from this to be honest.

Interesting. Burnt rubber, oud, peppery with a green note sitting quietly in the background. Not sure at this point whether I like it or love it but it may be a grower. It reminds me of a lot of oudy frags but this one smells like it’s also been blended with a man’s shower gel so it’s not exactly a “stand out” perfume but then I think this is one that will take a few wears to really get to know it. Nice but not, as the name suggests, addictive.

This is a very very interesting and extravagant scent of the kind I don’t usually wear for myself, but who knows, I may change my mind.
It smells powerful but fresh in the opening with a distinct herbal note that reminds of a “special” kind of weed.
So many aromatic notes put together and not a mess as a result! Not easy to do.
I think this is masterfully blended, very daring, brain refreshing with aromatic plants and totally unisex. It’s a scent that appeals to both mind and body, weird but somehow comforting.
The quality is high and notes smell real and pure.
Longlasting, it melts with skin and gives a personal final result.
Try it if you’re looking for something very different and exalting, but not for wallflowers.
