I was certain I’d love this, but had to give it a dislike because it smells like 2 ml of perfume in 98 ml of water. I could literally douse myself with the whole bottle and not offend anyone in a car with the windows up. Matter of fact, I probably will use this up in one day. Even at $9 for 3.3 oz, it feels like a rip off.
Update: This has replaced Parfums de Coeur Coconut Fantasy as my bathroom spray for cleaning the toilet seat. Too lame to even give away.

This smells like delicious brown sugar, marshmallow with vanilla and caramel. I also smell cocoa butter and whipped cream. How scrumptious. It’s an angelic, lofty , soft scent. It smells like a softer version of Meow by Katy Perry. A very girly, feminine scent. I got this off EBay for 7 dollars and could not be more pleased. This one is a keeper. Guys love these type of scents. Dreamy and sexy. Fluffy like a pink cloud. Decadent. I keep smelling my wrists. This is the only fragrance I keep the the refrigerator. I love to spay this on me while its CHILLED! For some reason it smells a tad stronger on my skin when I do it. It is a great fragrance for the younger girls. Its is a fun, cozy scent. A cuddle- me scent! The best fragrance to wear on the first date. Its not too loud but its soft and sensual. This scent can be worn all year. In the winter it reminds me of freshly backed sugar cookies and caramel apples. In the summer this reminds me of vanilla ice cream. Nice sillage not too strong. I do apply it liberally. I spray it over my shoulders, the back of my neck and wrists. It is almost like a body ” mist”.
UPDATE- I had this on at work the other day and the security guard said it was the nicest scent she has ever smelled. I agree its sweet whimsical candy land of a scent.

Soft and delicious. A more mature and sensuous vanilla as opposed to a young girl’s scent.
Slightly burnt sugar, slightest wisp of smoke, addictive vanilla.
Doesn’t last long, two or three hours – but while it’s there, ooh la la, bebe!

If you’re looking for a powerhouse, this is most certainly not it. However don’t let that rule it out, this is a truly lovely fragrance.
Soft, sweet, buttery skin scent. Even on first spray it’s very light, however it has some lasting power, a few hours later I still catch whiffs of this heavenly perfume. On my skin the notes I’m getting are vanilla, caramel, and maybe some light sandalwood with a little sweet powder to round it all together. I’m not getting any florals here at all, or fruit.
I usually prefer a louder, more syrupy sweet type of perfume, but this definitely has it’s place. I could see this to wear to bed, in an office, or maybe for an intimate night; places you don’t want a more intense scent. Also very affordable, this is a love for me.

I didn’t like this one immediately. About a minute after my first spray, I got nothing but baby powder and sweet tarts. Given about 30 minutes, this turns into a completely different scent. It’s still quite powdery, but also warm, sweet, and filled with caramel and vanilla.
This one isn’t as “fun” as Pink Sugar or Prada Candy, but I’ll never have to choose between those and Private Room as they’re not appropriate for the same times and places. I’ll never show up to work wearing Pink Sugar, but this one certainly has a place at my workplace filled with fashionable and classically-inclined 20-60 year old women.
Private Room proves that gourmands can be elegant! This was such a nice surprise.

I love this perfume! It is a soft almond/ vanilla that lasts on my skin for hours! Sillage is not loud. But staying power is great.

The comments about there being a citrusy/soapy aspect kept me from buying this, but I just received it in a swap, and I get zero of either, thank goodness. I’m in love. Initial blast is sweet caramel, powdery tonka yumminess. It’s fluffy and light, and warm and comforting. FYI, on me, the dry down ends up smelling identical to BBW Brown Sugar and Fig so the lotion goes well with this. Longevity seems to be decent, but it is so unbelievably soft. I had to douse myself in it before bed just to keep smelling it. The projection would be my only complaint.

I’ve wanted this since forever, and here we go. Another soapy-softy fragrance, which is cool actually, but…. I expected something way different, no caramel, no vanilla, no tonka, no nothing – just soapy and clean stuff. I’m kind of disappointed, but if I pretend I never knew a thing about this, I would’ve liked it even more. It’s just the expectations, you get your hopes too high and imagine it in a certain way, which is…wrong most of the times. Anyway – I’m diggin it, it’s nice 🙂

Horrible. Maybe i got a Bad old one. But this is so synthetic smelling. Smells like a kiddy dollar store soap.

This smells so good. This is a sweet gourmand fragrance that smells like having caramel candy inside a luxurious hotel suite. It’s room service dessert menu stuff. I smelled a sweet but synthetic peach typical of so many Jeanne Arthes perfumes. I swear to God peach must be Jeanne A’s favorite fruit. There’s jasmine, Damascus rose, vanilla and amber. I can’t think of what fragrance this reminds me of but it is a very pretty fruity floral with caramel yumminess. It’s a party perfume. Any time I smell fruit in perfume I think it’s party time. Sillage and longevity is fine although this is a subtle scent and a bit timid. I like to smell it on myself and only a few who get close to hug me can smell the caramel-and-rose combination. So nice.

Private Room is a feminine sweet boudoir fragrance. Smells like the inside of a French courtesan’s bedroom. The opening is a fruit drink, sweet peach and plum, a dash of citrus by way of neroli. It smells fresh and cool at first a bit like a bath product: shampoo, but not bad at all. Then it warms up to a gorgeous caramel and vanilla. There’s white floral notes including jasmine and a pretty rose combo. The dry down is a touch of sandalwood and amber. It’s not too heavy so even if you spray liberally all you get is a sweet soft delicious caramelized fruity floral. My boyfriend loves this fragrance on me and is always kissing my neck when I wear it on my neck. The caramel stands out as does the peach and the amber. Beautiful.

Private Room is my second Jeanne Arthes purchase, the first being Sultane 1001 Nights, and based on these two, there is a LOT to love about the brand, and not just for the practically free prices. One thing I’ve noticed is that both perfumes are very evocative of feelings as opposed to showcasing notes; Private Room could not be more aptly named. It may not be overtly sexy, being soft and powdery as it is, but is a true boudoir fragrance, drawing you in and evoking a true feeling of intimacy. Don’t let the hairspray-like initial blasts of the two perfumes put you off: give it but literally just a minute or two and that completely disappears.

I tested this in deep hot summer and found it to be very light. It smells really nice, but i prefer bold fragrances. However, most people say it is better in cooler/cold temps. So, i will hide this away with my cold scents and look forwaed to trying it again this fall/winter. Can’t wait!!

This is the best fragrance i’ve ever had so far.Perfect.
I really, really love the aroma. So soft and comforting. A girlie one, feminine and slightly sweet. It’s like a combination of powdery scent, caramel and floral.
The aroma stayed all day after I sprayed it to my clothes, and I also got many compliments from my friends (and bf) when I wore it!
Unfortunately it’s really hard to find nowadays in my country. I hope I can get it again easily in many stores here.

Super pretty and delicate. This isn’t a silage bomb. I don’t think you could over spray this if you tried it’s that soft. Its softer than pink sugar. So if you found that one rough, give this cute thing a try.

I am a fan of Jeanne Arthes myself, for producing such beautiful scents in very affordable price.
However, Private Room is definitely exceptional.
I never thought something this affordable could smell this good!
Although honestly I disliked the opening – as there was a strong sour scent coming up from my skin – as the time flies, the middle notes and base note settle in a subtle creamy scent, and at some point, even intriguing.
    This is an innocent seduction.
    Love it!

This is a Pretty Pink Cloud. Light & Fluffy. It smells like sweet caramel, softened by neroli & other florals, floating on a cloud of vanilla & Sandalwood. Love it!! Another winner from Jeanne Arthes.
It makes me think of what Pink sugar (after top notes wear off), mixed with Pink Sugar Sensual would smell like mixed with a bit of Hanae Mori & some extra Sandalwood.

This is such a pretty little thing!
It reminds me so much of Reminiscence Guimauve! I’m wearing one on each arm and they are definitely siblings. Private Room is the younger, quieter sister who adores her big sis and wants to be like her in every way! She is also a little sweeter by just a pinch of sugar and doesn’t have the minty vibe I get from Guimauve. They are both fresh, marshmallowy, slightly floral vanillas. Private Room just stays much more reserved, but does last for hours.
The box and bottle are very cute, if not a little cheaply made. I think I can overlook that for the pretty fragrance and the amazing price this can be had for!

This is a delightful and unique perfume that is just as soft and round as its’ bottle. Nice silage but totally unoffensive if over-applied (I did four sprays this morning); lasts for hours and hours.
It has a warm, creamy sweetness, rather than a sharp, sugary one. The musk and tonka make a prominent base for everything else, but this is so nicely blended, I have difficulty tuning in to each note, but caramel is what I sense next.
This perfume is like your favorite down pillow. I adore this outstandingly affordable gem!

After reading reviews I blind bought this since the price is so reasonable .
    I like it ,
I have been wanting a caramel scent that was not overly sweet and finally found it .
This is just a touch of caramel and vanilla and is powdery which I love ! 🙂
It is very close to the skin , the longevity is rather weak but for the price you can re-apply as much as you like .

I got this one because I was craving feminine, sweet, and powdery and that’s what I got. If baby powder came in a caramel scented version it would smell like this. I like it!

Private Room is a very soft, delicate, very lightly powdery, very close to skin scent. Smells similar to Aquolina Pink Sugar Sensual, but much more gentle, fresh, lighter, and not as powdery.
Silage is moderate for a couple of minutes, then calms down to very low silage.
Private Room is perfect for scenting lingerie, since it stays on fabrics until you wash it off.
Also great for scenting pillows and bedding with its soft, delicate, gently sweet, feminine, comforting scent.
This scent is beautiful, cozy, light, fresh, long lasting and non-offensive. Another winer from Jeanne Arthes !

This is a very light, feminine sweet powder smell. It’s lovely, but it’s faint and inoffensive. It’s safe. If you like this one, but want more juicy-ness and potency, go for Jeanne’s Capricieuse. That one is freakin’ delicious and smells exactly like this but with more oomph and silage.
Private Room reminds me of my favorite gourmands… Curious In Control… The Fantasy Naughty and Nice remixes, Pink Sugar Sensual…. it is a great, basic, sweet scent. It’s just too close to Capricieuse and that one is nicer. Still perfect for the gourmand/sweet fanatics.
24 Hour later update: This perfume actually does hold it’s own! It has subtle differences from Capricieuse, and Private Room is very comforting and soft. It’s a good bedtime perfume/aromatherapy. 🙂

Very easy to like. Vanilla, caramel, powdery goodness. Not a heavy “in your face” scent. Very tame, warm and comforting.
    It’s like a cuddle in a bottle!

The reviewer who said that this is an undiscovered gem is spot-on. It is a deliciously sweet but not cloying warm blend of notes that complement one another just right.
I do get mostly warmer notes of vanilla and caramel, but they are grounded by the background of the fruity and floral notes.
Longevity is excellent. Sillage is moderate (which I like).
I bought my 3.4 oz EDP bottle for $17.95 on fragranceX. So I have to add “incredible value” to this review as well.

    Lovely. Yummy. Soft and Sweet.
    Scent (8/10):
First spray, the blast of neroli and peach.
5 minutes, Start to change into a sweet and floral scent.
2 hours later, ths drydown was coming. Soft vanilla, creamy musk, and woody edge of sandal wood.
5 hours later, it became soft and skin scent.
I smell a quite synthetic smell on the initial blast, but then it disappeared completely. You have to be in good mood if you want to wear it, else you got a headache
    Sillage (7/10) :
First 5 minute, i left a cloud of sweetness every time i walk
1 hour later, spread with small area
2 hours later, it became skin scent
    Longetivity (9/10) :
It last all day long. I wear it at 7 am and i can still smell it at 4 pm in the afternoon
    Price (10/10) :
    Quite Cheap, but still elegant.
    Overall (8/10)

A soft, sweet and cuddly fragrance with predominant notes of vanilla, caramel and musk. I don’t really detect the fruity and floral notes. I also wouldn’t say it’s an edible scent. It is gourmand, but in a gentle way.
    Very pleasurable!
Lasts pretty well with soft sillage.

This to me smells just like Pink Sugar by Aqualina. Im really surprised nobody has said that so far. Its a nice smell but alot like what I have already in Pink Sugar. Oh well, its a very nice scent though.

How do they do it? Every perfume I buy from this house smells so good, and they are so cheep. Just got this and it smells wonderful. I don’t get much peach, but lots of caramel, jasmine and vanilla. This could be a favorite.

I found slightly different sounding notes on another site. For the top they have orange blossom and peach nectar; for the middle they list damascus rose, toffee, and Egyptian jasmine. The bottom is the one most different (IMHO). They show grey amber, musk, sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla.
Slightly different, but it sounds better for some reason.

This is beautiful. I get loads of yummy vanilla and caramel with fresh musk in the background. It’s sweet but also fresh and the delicious smell lasted over 8 hours. This is an undiscovered gem for gourmand lovers.
