This is just a lovely scent with an unique scent ID
I like the original RED But it lacks in performance. RED extreme in Other hand is the version on steroids in performance. Better sillage & better scent. + Dope longevity
    This is dope
& IF you like the original RED you’ll love this!

First smell, I didn’t fall in love. It’s ok, I think there’s better coffee/chocolate scents on the market like Thierry Muglers pure coffee and Alexandria fragrances cacao dreams. Those are more seductive imo. This came off as really dark and dense. Probably won’t be purchasing this. I don’t think it’s bottle worthy for me.

I am so excited for this one, bought a vip exclusive press kit (only 300 made) so excited, a collectors dream find!!!
and the juice is Great so win win!!
Blood Orange is a top note so its there in the opening but will quickly be gone for those that are missing it
    I Love Fragrances!!
take this as a prophetic message to where my Carrier choices are taking me 🙂 Love My Daddy God!!! My Best-es Friend!!!<3

for the price and notes this is actually kind of a cool scent.
So i get a lot of that chocolate scented wood and coffee is supporting it; think a very dark chocolate type of scent with some coffee in the back; the citrus is ok in the opening but it leaves quickly (it lingers a little throughout the dry down but it’s at the back) and you get that chocolate coffee scent.
It’s pretty interesting, it’s dense but i wouldn’t say it’s obnoxious, it has a nice bubble i think.
This is a tough scent to describe of when it’s appropriate because it’s gourmand to me and chocolate isn’t really a popular note for most ppl.
hmm i think this would smell better as a air freshener rather than a fragrance to be worn and i’m not saying that as a knock on the scent because it is really different for a designer release.
if it were a tad lighter and just a lil cheaper it’d be a nice cheap challenge to 1 Million Lucky but this compared to Lucky or even Prive, it’s just not quite as seductive or attention grabbing.
Ok i think i know now when this could be worn; so if you live in a area that has a lot of ppl wearing 1 mil lucky (like mine) and you want to stand out a lil you could for sure rock this and get some attention.
Also i feel like this doesn’t do ‘enough’ to really make it a “Oh i think polo red extreme is perfect for this”.
It’s a nice scent but I wouldn’t wear it and honestly even though it’s not terribly expensive i just don’t think it’d be something most men would reach for often; I could see a modern woman really rocking this fragrance tbh because it’s got that coffee note it has good strength to it but it’s still really chocolate scented and Women just pull gourmands off better imo (general sweeping statement i kno, sorry)
reading some of the comments now it seems some guys really enjoy smelling like chocolate coffee so yeah maybe if you haven’t checked this out yet give it a sniff; personally I think 1 Mil Lucky is just way better and versatile if you are looking for a gourmand type of scent for your arsenal but if that isn’t good enough then i would still maybe check out some of the A*Men flankers like Pure Havanna and Pure Coffee maybe even Tonka and then after those I would see any other coffee scents and then i would come to this but that’s me.
I would say overall the scent is different for sure but different doesn’t always mean it’s better
Scent 6/10, it’s original for sure and does what it’s intended to but it’s not really something dramatically mindblowing.
I’m not gonna write about anything else because at the end of the day if it doesn’t smell great to me then i’m probably not gonna wear it. Chocolate is a tough note for almost any guy to pull off unless you know your woman really likes that note then it’s probably fairly rare when you would want to smell like that.

Easiest way I can describe this one, is think of Polo Double Black, with less musk, and spice, and give it an orange chocolate over tone to it. It is SO good, creamy, ambery, with just subtle hints of spice, and musk to keep it masculine.
It being an Eau de parfum means it will last easily 6-8 hours, of noticeable projection, but after that, you can still notice it on you, but won’t project within the room. Easily my favorite scent this year. Reminds me of Marc Jacobs Decadence, which is a woman’s perfume, but have similar sweetness factors behind it. The main difference being the rosey hue to decancence where as chocolate is the shimmery backdrop to this one. I know it states coffee, which is kind of there, but as a whole to the casual passerby, it smells like chocolate to those around me.
Out of all the Polo reds, I would rate this #1, them Polo Intense, the original Polo Red, then at the bottom is the new Polo Red Rush. Polo Red Rush is way too musky for my nose. So I can only imagine what it smells like to those around me.

This is my signature scent. All women of all ages love it and it projects well. Wear this after getting a fresh haircut fellas!. Mature women love this, it has a coffee note that projects so seductively.

I do not smell any coffee in this scent from the samples I’ve purchased. This scent reminds me of a more robust scent of Diesel Only the Brave Tattoo. Only the Brave Tattoo was a scent I liked at one point in time, but over time have gotten to dislike it or just call it so-so. Polo Red Extreme is like triple the strength of that scent, but the opening is WAY too rich, and takes a while for it to settle down. There isn’t one thing I like about Polo Red Extreme. It’s as if my heart starts to beat quicker as soon as I apply it. I would say that this scent may be okay in frigid temperatures, but is way too rich to wear in any temperature about 70 degrees. Kind of disappointed Polo would release this. This closest thing Polo Red Intense reminds me of is walking by a bakery with a cloying note to it to make it more masculine.
I will stick with my Barrister and Mann Leviathan aftershave which actually does smell a lot like coffee.

My big mistake! I bought without pre-testing and very disappointed. Pure synthetic swetness like deo AXE. No super bad, but no good. Coffee?)) ahahah)) Forget about him!

Blind buy. Wearing red extreme on one wrist, and red intense on the other….
Extreme is for sure darker, and the colder weather version. I barely get any sweet blood orange at all, it sits more in the background and I immediately get coffee and dark woods from the opening.
This is a very dense scent, but it’s a dense SKIN SCENT. This doesn’t project at all. Quite disappointing actually. The performance is almost the same as the earlier intense version. For an EDP, it’s quite sad in the performance department. Much like my review of the intense version,….it performs like dolce gabannas “the one” EDP, where at first blast you are excited….but then as 1 to 2 hours goes by you are saying “where did the scent go?”, as you a burying your nose into your skin.
Verdict—– The intense version has the more brighter fruity opening with the coffee/woods in the background….and suited for warmer weather. The extreme takes the same scent structure, but put the fruits in the background and pulls the darker coffee/woods in the forefront, suited more for colder temps.
Both perform identically. Believe it or not, the brighter intense seems to jump off the skin more, while extreme is more the skin scent.
Although both are “ok” scents, however I will not be buying Another bother of either once/if they run out.

What an amazing surprise! I expect to be a typical ”Axe scent” like Polo red but this one is GREAT.
First, it’s a blast of blood orange mix with coffee! Then, the ebony wood appears slowly to give a masculine edge.
This is more a mature fragrance to the Polo red and red intense.
Casual, dates and nights out for sure. for work in office, Yes in colder time.
Fall and winter, more a night time scent
    Nice projection
    nice longevity, got 8hrs
I would considering give a try for a full bottle for sure!
    Good job Ralph Lauren!!

Polo Red Extreme is the second flanker of Polo Red, coming on the heels of Polo Red Intense. You may be tempted to ask, “is this really necessary, and did we really need yet another Polo Red sequel?”
And the answer is yes, we did, because Polo Red and Polo Red Intense are not good fragrances. Polo Red Extreme, however, actually is.
It is a decadent scent with subtle projection and good staying power. The minimalist three-note pyramid above does not begin to tell the whole story. There are hints of vanilla and dark chocolate in the base here, and those serve to color and shade the fruit aroma that isn’t quite “blood orange,” but it’s close. It’s a deep red fruit, certainly, but it might equally be something approaching raspberries.
The coffee note is the red fruit’s most obvious partner in this dance. It’s not especially authentic coffee, but definitely in the dark/bitter category of smells, enough to do its job here.
The final presentation is a dark and creamy, fruity and tart aroma that is very easy on the nose, and quite addictive to boot. I got 5-6 hours out of it with a medium/heavy application, so don’t be afraid to squeeze that nozzle.

This frag makes me feel like I’ve been huffing stimulants out of a box of chocolates- the variety kind with orange and coffee bean ones. Sweet but upbeat. Not something I expected from the polo line. I get the comparisons to jpg ultra male even though they don’t really share any notes in common, they have a similar sticky-but-brash high energy to them.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

I get the coffee and woods, but there’s a creamy quality about this I find cloying and off-putting.

We are now on the 3rd impression of Polo Red. Why an intense and an extreme? Perhaps one is intensely sweet while the other is extreme in depth. Polo Red Extreme is Polo Red perfected. It is better balanced and dries down without smelling noticeably inexpensive. The ebony wood makes the fragrance deeper and darker, but also maintaining it’s level of sweetness. Polo Red Intense smells like the palm of a child’s hand, clenching a fist full of skittles to the melting point.

Had that similar vibe to jpg ultra male,,
But this one had a coffee notes,
Longevity was good!! 8-9 hours..suits for a colder days,..night out!! Leather jacket,!?
But i prefer jpg ultra male,..
By the way its a good one from polo,..so worth buying..
    Its an EDP version..
    Worth buying..9/10..

  17. :

    4 out of 5

My only experience with blood orange is as a flavoring syrup for shaved ice, this doesn’t disappoint. As for coffee? You’d better like it sweet, sugar addicted sweet. And for the ebony, it captures the smell of the interior of a stash box purchased from Pier 1 perfectly. I don’t care much for sweet fragrances, but the caustic cheap imported goods smell saves this from candy land territory.
Try before you buy, samples are everywhere.
You may not love it, but someone you know will hate it.

  18. :

    5 out of 5

Minimalism at its finest, reminds me of Ultra Zest with a heavy dose of ebony woods. I get around 10 hours of performance with big sillage for the first 3 to 4 hours. I also love the sharp black and red contrast of the bottle, now that it’s hit the discounters I consider it a good buy.

    3 out of 5

Someone said this smells like Obsession Dark and I definite see where they are coming from. I like the smell of both fragrances.. This for some reason is getting a lot of hate but its a nice smelling fragrance. Simple as that. I really like both the polo red intense and extreme versions. They are simply very nice smelling fragrances but Polo will always get the hate. Is this revolutionary.. Nope.. But neither are a lot of other frags people are hyping to death.. In fact this is one of the frags I would choose over the more popular ones. this has that cranberry type note but balanced out with some sweetness and coffee.. Just works for me. Another appealing scent with a little kick from the polo line.
    Scent 4/5
    Performance 3.5 to 4/5

Finally! I think this is the missing link, to fully complete the ‘red’ collection. Very well done. Dark, warm, intense, um..sweet? I do get a candy vibe here, although idk if its the cacoa or the blood orange, or the combination. It is quite complex in a good way; the notes present themselves differently with each use, i like that. It lasts a long time, too. Definitely more evolved than the original, presents itself as the seasoned grandfather of the other two, and has more in common with the intense version (it should, as it’s an edp). The only thing i would say is dont apply too much, it can be sickly sweet if you put too much on; great that its not overwhelming, but can be if youre not careful (for me, anyway). I agree that it is heavier or creamier than the original polo red, not as light and bright, and does not suffer the poor performance that the original does imo.
This is the kind of frag i wear for myself, i dont care about what others may think- im just smelling myself, like “ohhh yeeeeah” lol. its a great, rich, comforting scent thats perfect for autumn, my favorite season.. memories will be that much better due to this awesome fragrance,so thank you, House of Polo. More specifically, i tip my hat to Olivier Gillotin, and thank him for creating such an exemplary fragrance for us males to enjoy~~ the grand finale of the Red line, i would assume. It would be hard to top this, if not impossible. But hey, maybe theyll make a Polo Red Sport! (Actually not that far fetched a theory, when you think about it).

  22. :

if your a fan of the sweeter fragrances then this is a must to check out!. i can see the ultra male comparisons but this one is slightly less sweet probably due to the woody backbone and faint coffee vibe which makes it more masculine also. i find the balance is just right with this one. nice night out scent or snuggle sesh.. at least in this i can actually smell coffee unlike intense cafe from that “innovative” brand montale. also, honestly i wouldnt worry or take note about the voting or any ratings on this site, just have to do your best to try and sample and do your own research. just realised Tony said the same thing and summed this one up nicely too. Surprisingly quite versatile. i detect more subtle underlying freshness as the top notes fade as well. This is what i was hoping Muglers Ultra Zest would be! Not bad at all Polo!

    Revisited this scent again today,
and once again my first impression
had played tricks on me, the first
time i did not care to much about
this one at all, but today i feel like its
another fragrance with a fresh coffe opening
thats what i get slightly gourmand, nothing
wrong with this one, tends to lean towards
younger men, not bad at all.

I must confess to having previously had extremely low expectations of anything from the Polo line of fragrances (with the exception of the wonderfully beastly 1978 original), not because I’ve found anything particularly negative over the last 15 years – I’ve just been left feeling a bit “meh” by most of their offerings – including the Red line in general. Imagine my surprise to find this gem then! And a gem it most certainly is! Great projection power for about 3 hours and a sensual, sexy, enticing fruity gourmand-lite fragrance. I would definitely buy this and if you like frags such as Black XS, Joop etc then you’re going to want to sample this. Overall, an 8/10 from me.

As of today 31 members say this last less than an hour and 26 say 7 hours. I would say that there is some hating going on here big time. I’m not the biggest RL fan but this is a pleasant moderate performing warm, spicy cozy scent. Perfect for date nights and friendly enough to wear at work. Kinda on the gourmand side but not a full blown gourmand. It’s a very likeable scent and a great alternative to D&G The One.

I tried this yesterday at the Polo store. I do like it, but to my nose, it smelled EXACTLY like CK Dark Obsession (which I already have.) I think this Red Extreme has a little better projection and longer longevity than Dark Obsession, but (to me) it’s otherwise the same scent. I would buy it at the right price if I didn’t already have Dark Obsession.

If you want to replicate this smell for a fraction of the price, try the following:
    1. Have kids or borrow someone else
    2. Give them sticky fruit candy
    3. Leave them to their own devices so that the cans can get all over their hands, mixing with other dirt
    4. Ask the children to touch a favorite shirt
    5. Wear that shirt

I got this yesterday and so far I got a nice complement and a “thank you” for smelling that nice, so I am surprised a little, I’m still finding out how it performs during the whole day.
I can totally say this a gourmand cologne, I am sure it has more than the listed notes, is very fruity and it makes you think of it.
Well so far I like it.

Another stunner from Polo. I sprayed on 4 sprays soon a I bought it, 7 hours later I can still smell it on myself. My girl is loving this scent, I have to finish writing this review because she just sprayed some on my lower stomach and wants that on her nose……………….. This is clearly over a 4 on fragrantica.

I bought this fragrance yesterday. My first impression :
    – if you like or love the red line, you will too this one (Polo red extreme);
    – performance is very good, above average;
    – the scent reminds me Polo red intense with, at first, a hint of Joop Wild and later a light touch of dark chocolate;
    – versatile, but in the cold months.
P.S. As the comment below, i realy don’t understand all the ” Dislike ” about this fragrance. IMO, the score of Polo red extreme is cleary over 2.81. The ” real ” score is around 4.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

I don’t know why more people do not like this. and they give voting carelessly stating that poor performance. I don’t think so. This fragrance is very good, the opening like brew hot coffee laced with orange-scented cream. very sweet in the beginning, but slowly declining sweetness, to feel the scent of coffee beans. Performance is very good. not beast mode, but it was very pretty and above average.

Too early to tell, but got a sample from Sephora last week. Wore for first time today. Seems to last a lot longer than the Polo Red. I could smell it for 4-5 hours on me. Seems sweeter than that Polo Red and also different than the Intense.
I need to try it more, but I can say I am very pleased with my first impression.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

I revisited this today to try in a new environment. I was outside all day in 80+ degree sunshine with a breeze doing “extreme” stuff training horses. I sprayed 4 times in three spots including my shirt. It lasted over 6 hours outside, which is better than I can say for most fragrances I’ve tried in near same conditions and activity. Projection was good even in the breeze.
I agree with CB23 about the likeness to Red Intense, but this is creamy smooth where Intense is sweet and spicy. I prefer the Red and the Intense, but that’s a personal preference only.
I’m glad I gave it a second chance. I like it and recommend it for outdoor activities. It has really good longevity and has smelled almost the exact same all day long.

It’s about time Ralph Lauren released something outside the square, this is great.
A dark, sweet fragrance that is 25% polo red Intense, 25% Ultra Male, 25% Givenchy Play Intense and 25% sexy

  39. :

    5 out of 5

This did not smell like I thought it would, but I adore this smell, especially on top. It’s dark, yet VERY smooth and even somewhat fresh. I view this as long lasting, but I’m not certain it will jump off the skin and be a spillage monster, but should project enough.
I liked the original red and loved the intense, due to the sweet cranberry note, but I got crap performance out of the intense version.
I don’t know what I was expecting with Extreme, but I think it’s an 8/10 release.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

I used to own Polo Red and recently scored this new and most potent flanker. I appreciated the novel structure of the original release with its cranberry, coffee, saffron and grapefruit, but remember tiring of having to reapply it frequently. It’s little thrills were short lived. (I skipped the middle release with the silly stripe on the bottle because it missed the marks of intensity for me.) Now I wear the turbo charged eXtreme parfum version which was designed by the same creator as the original and follows a natural deconstructed reverse course to the pulsing, black heart of this sporting affair. Just think of a race car: it is stripped of all unnecessary equipment and dead weight to make it leaner, meaner and faster still. The engine is tricked out to give it all the torque possible, and when you hit the pedal to the floor you feel a sense of exhilaration and the excitement of passing everything else on the road. You’re not thinking about anything, you’re just living. A race car is designed to go fast.
The same is true of Polo X Red. The opening evokes speed with its high adrenaline burst of French double roasted coffee tinged with juiced-up blood orange. You may find yourself racing through the daytime traffic of office, gym or lunch; moving like a sleek wedge through all the sputtering mendacity of the urban world around you, and leaving behind only the hot aroma of testosterone. You love the anxious play of the fuel injected café l’orange against the deeper, darker timbers of ebony. It just squeals as its fat wheels burn up and down the pavement of your skin. Women swoon. Men wish they were you! Well, I guess you get the snapshot: a fantasy ride for raging Polo freaks cutting a blue streak through life. Just think oodles of pumped up, percolating, everything-on-fire, big living pony mystique packed into a matte black flask with a little splash of steamed milk to throttle down its revving engine as you coast into the smoldering orange sunset with the top retracted. Polo X Red is an exhibitionist, masculine and definitely fun. It shares the road with a certain nineteen year old I remember who’s parents bought him a bright red Mercedes AMG GT just to drive up to Pensacola for Spring Break.
Fast living aside, the shopping addict in me wanted it and so I went out and bought myself a great big bottle at Ralph Lauren on Worth Avenue and received a full size bonus tube of after shave lube in a red and black tartan plaid bag with gold rope handles which I proceeded to flaunt all day like fresh kill. Take it from me, it’s all about the eXtra kicks in life!

Was able to track this one down and finally I have a verdict on it! It smells just like Jean Paul Gaultier Le Ultra Male! Has that same candy gourmand smell which I like but I’d opt for JPG more! Great scent though!

I tried it at Bloomingdales earlier today and loved it. The original Polo Red has been my go to every day/all day scent. I see this as it’s replacement for 2017. Love the orange/citrus opening. This quickly transitions to a sweet coffee and then settles to a dark, creamy, woody scent that I am in love with. Really, really like this one. Went back and bought the big bottle of Parfum.
Edit/Add 4/5: Been wearing this every day for a month. Totally in love with it. The Orange/Coffee/Wood mixture is extremely addictive. I’ve learned one… maybe two sprays on the chest is all you need for everyday wear, any more and its a bit too much and the orange is killed. Highly recommend…

Smells like Burnt Sugar, Strawberry & Whipped Cream to me.
It’s one of those really sweet scents that will compete with the likes of Ultra Male. It is not beast mode but rather moderate projection. I think this one will end up getting a good amount of love as people get to know it. I’m sure it’s going to do wonders during spring and summer nights.

Just tried this today. I have both of the red polos and was curious to see what was so extreme and different about this one. Sweet, coffee, woody, creamy with strong projection. Have been wearing this for 2 hours and it is still as strong as when i applied. Red and red intense are brighter than extreme. Extreme reads as a gourmand.
Very nice scent. Yes it will remind you of rohas but this will last longer. I thought it would smell a lot like jean Paul gaultier ultra male but they are very different. I would say extreme is better, smoother more natural. I am actually a bit put off by ultra male when smelling it in comparison to extreme.
This should have been released in the fall, rolling it out for spring feels like a misstep. That being said it is very nice and i will buy at some point. This is the richest of the 3 and the whole “this is for young guys into extreme sports” things is another marketing misstep. This is for all ages but i think a more mature man would wear this better.

Egads….just tried a sample at a local Macy’s recently. My initial impression after spray-on: An assault of Captain Crunch drenched in coffee!!! For the first 20-30 minutes, Polo Red Extreme bears little to no resemblance to any of the prior Polo Red scents. Eventually, it goes from a turbocharged gourmand scent (like A*Men original) to something that does echo the Polo Red mystique: An intense mix of bitter, semi-sweet chocolate and roasted coffee beans in incense stick form!!
Man, I love Polo Red Intense, and Red Extreme will take a while to grow on me. It is brash and deliberate and will take a couple of additional test spritzes before I finally decide to get / not get it.

sampled this today at macy’s and i got to say its actually not bad and interesting coming from Polo as i was not expecting much from this house on this release. But its actually really nice and not too overpowering but not too light either. This kind of reminds me of Rochas man in a way but definitely not a clone or any of those sorts, but i feel it has a similar feel. I only put on one weak spray and its still doing well past the 2 hour mark so im impressed with the performance so far. I don’t know if i would pull the trigger for this one at the current price but once it hits the discounters i might buy me a smaller size just to add to my collection. Definitely worth a try though, kudos to Polo for a nice creation!

As at least one other person has opined, this is more a “stand alone” fragrance than another red flanker. First off, there’s more to this stuff than just the revealed notes of blood orange, coffee, and ebony wood. Don’t what what else is in there, but whatever else is in there, it’s a “less is more” blending of something really special, and I’m enjoying a whole bunch. It’s not a spice bomb type fragrance, which is good. Also, it’s not musky (it’s not happening, ever, with musk and me). Nor is it a sharp, citrusy fragrance. It’s calming and very smooth. It’s fresh, deep and dark, at the same time, with its own distinctive vibe. I would describe it to my nose as balanced, smooth, enduring, and classic. Not overpowering, but longevity like you wouldn’t believe. This is the yang to Polo Blue Parfum’s yin (another fragrance I really enjoy, but with definitely with a Summertime vibe). Polo Red Extreme is extremely good for wearing both day and night. Worth a blind buy, in my opinion. And believe me, it’s NOT cheap smelling (haters are going to be haters just to be haters)! Just might end up being my fave Polo.

Honestly, not a big fan. I like to think of myself as someone who is able to detect the less noticeable notes in frags, but I can’t find the coffee in this at all.
It’s extremely sweet and maybe that’s what puts me off, but even in the dry down it’s still unbearably sweet. It smells very similar to Polo Red, which I also find to be too sweet.
The only saving grace is the smokey dry down, that reminds me of Varvatos – Vintage. Again, still sweet, but smokey.

Ive already seen this in stores actually got a chance to wear it today..
Is there really only 3 notes in this?
At first spray I was pretty happy because I actually got a noticeable coffee smell. Theres also a bit of a bubbly, fizzyness to it, that made it smell kinda like a strange starbucks drink if they had some sorta fruity coffee sorta drink..
Unfortunately maybe my nose became anosmiatic to the coffee cuz its short lived and hard to pick up after so many mins… And I really had to take some hard breaths in to try to imagine it.
Basically just got a sorta fruity creamy woody scent. Does kinda smell like some of other stuff, and it maybe it is the 2 originals but its been so long since ive worn though its hard to say for sure…
But for what its worth I think both of those smell fine to me, and if I had more of a disposable income I might even own them…
Anyway I will say for a extreme version much like the intense this one is average on my skin. Wasnt impressed with my wearing in terms of performance. And wish I woulda got more coffee….
Anyway smells decent, but hard to justify for me personally.

Found a pre-release bottle for sale online and received it today. It has batch number 18N001C on the box and bottle. It is similar to Red and Red Intense in the opening, but has its own identity, like the granddaddy of both. From the press releases and quotes from the models, it is supposed to appeal to younger guys into extreme sports. I would not recommend it to the younger crowd. It reminds me of shaving cream from the 80’s. The notes kind of swirl around, and sometimes the blood orange takes the lead, but it reminds me of something I smelled back in the 80’s. Might even have a little hint of chocolate at times. The scent has light projection but it is stout up close. Longevity is decent.
My wife loves Red and Red Intense, and I have received more compliments while wearing them than any other fragrance ever. She is not sold on the extreme, and I am not either. My horses seem to love Red, too. If Red lasted longer than an hour without having
