Description

Tendre Poison is the fragrance of paradox which unites insolence and charm; it’s poisonous, but gentle.
Subtle harmony of fresh and sweet floral heart notes that symbolize the woman who hides great passion behind her fragile look. Top notes of galbanum and tangerine are followed by freesia and orange at its heart. The drydown is warm and subtle containing sandalwood and vanilla. It was created in 1994.

The nose behind this spectacular sensation is Edouard Flechier, while the bottle design is thw work of Veronique Monod.
In 2006, the house of Dior released the Poison Amulets. These are limited edition 15 ml purse sprays in Poison, Pure Poison, Tendre Poison and Hypnotic Poison; each comes with 2 refills and is packaged in a satin pouch with funnel. The bottles are very elegant following the style and colors of the originals.

Oh the nostalgia with this one. The first sophisticated scent I ever bought for myself, and honestly one of the best.
So green, and so complex to my nose. Cabotine doesn’t come close to how beautiful this scent was, although there are a few reminders there.
    Bring this one back already!

I remember I had a green Dior perfume back in high school back in year 2003. I sort of stole it from my mom because I loved anything green back then. It was way too strong and “mature” for me to wear back then but I did try to wear it. I didn’t know what a gem I had back then. I wish I still have the bottle now that I’m starting to collect and appreciate perfumes. Plus the fragrance would probably suit me now.

Green, lush white floral bouquet that leads towards resinous creamy warmth. I have a vintage bottle that might not have been kept properly, thus it smells a bit funny with the first sprays, but from afar, it’s WOW. It’s also a powerhouse so you really don’t need much, or else the flowers will get swallowed. Try this on a humid summer night.
Bears resemblance to Cabotine, sure, but Cabotine EDT has a huge bouquet of golden warm flowers whereas Tendre Poison is mostly green to me.

This is abundant green goodness, a lot similar to caboline by gres. Very charming and poisonous at the same time. eventhough it has agreen feeling to it . it remains a heavy scent. very suitable for late fall/winter.

It may well be that the sample I tried has gone off, but unfortunately I found Tendre Poison to be sour and lemony in a way that only resembles a hypothetical repellent-urinal cake hybrid. Very astringent with some floral notes that I have often picked up in vintage minis, most of which have not been stored adequately. I guess that’s the answer right there. A shame.

From a vintage mini. I’m unsure of the year. A lovely limey green note accented by some mostly indistinguishable florals and syrup. As it settles powdery sandalwood takes over and musk — so much musk. A salty hide scent that lasts for hours and hours

I am normally an oriental lover, so while I own many many fragrances which smell gorgeous in cool/cold weather, I seem to be forever on a search for a scent that smells refreshing in hot, sticky weather, which I actually LIKE!
Enter Dior’s Poison Tendre. This is the ONLY green fragrance which I have ever enjoyed. I caved to the reviews and bought a little miniature of this discontinued beauty off eBay.
On first spray, this is white flowers + honey heaven. It’s just stunning. It’s like a chorus of tuberose, freesia, orange blossom etc just dripping in beautiful treacly honey. With a background presence of sandalwood and rosewood to even things out.
However, to me, the asafoetida is quite present in all stages of this fragrance, and combined with the bergamot, is just a tad jarring – it does smell a little onion-y, sharp, maybe even acidic. And because sillage on this is enormous, it can make this beauty a bit eye-wateringly sharp. But I am glad I bought this; it’s very beautiful and almost perfect, if the sharpness could be a bit toned down.

    Tendre Poison 1998 Miniature
Opens on a very strong green blast where not much sense can be made from it. Once this heady, overwhelming assault ends, after about 40 minutes, the real magic of Tendre Poison begins to unfurl before you. I always used to wonder what exactly honey smells like in perfume, but then I tried this and Poison Eau de Cologne. It doesn’t smell like the honey you can get from the store, but instead an organic and all natural honey from a bee farm. It’s a little bitter, a little sweet. During the opening blast, as it mellows a bit, you get a nice smoky incense accord that, along with the honey and tuberose, strongly link this to the original Poison and make this a dark jungle treat. The aesofetida is an odd addition, too. Usually smells of garlic or onion, but this one takes a very dry direction. Galbanum makes this very, very green. You can just envision a small village in the depths of the most treacherous jungle, surrounded by tall walls. Inside, a religious ceremony is taking place and they’re burning some pungent woods. You’re surrounded by carnivorous plants and vines of some variety. Its humid, its sticky and it’s heady as anything. A true masterpiece which they never should have discontinued. If I ever meet the person who decided this should leave store shelves, I swear I will glove slap them.

Must let settle past the initial blast. Afterwards, it’s a seemingly lovely innocent summer day in a green field of flowers. A field with secrets and danger lurking, where the plants and flowers are slightly poisonous. Does bring to mind mischievous fairies and absinthe parties.
I used to wear this all the time, and finally found a bottle again. A vintage bottle that smells exactly as I recall it. It’s a floral for those who don’t like typical florals, a green that doesn’t smell like a men’s scent. Distinct and subtle at the same time. Cheery with a dark side. A unique summertime option.

I haven’t done a side by side test of Cabotine and PT, as I cannot wear (or bear!) Cabotine, despite liking Poison Tendre. I don’t know whether my experience is unique, but – if it’s not – I have done a side by side test of Rasasi Romance and PT, so thought it might be helpful to post this here as well (originally posted on RR review page).
Although not a dupe, Romance really does smell rather like Poison Tendre once it’s dried down. I find the similarity surprising as they have very few listed notes in common. Romance is “rougher” and a bit sharper, which is probably indicative of ingredient quality.
Poison Tendre is discontinued and selling for ridiculous sums online; Romance is neither – definitely worth trying if you choose not to remortgage your house in order to buy a bottle of perfume.

As of September, I started making monthly perfume trays in order to get to know the perfumes I already own even better. This is on October’s tray, and now that the last days of October are coming to an end, I feel that I can give a pretty fair review on this. 🙂
Although I reviewed this earlier this month and I’m the last person to review it…I’ll give it another go around. 🙂
This scent is an absinthe fairy luring in some prey with sweet, pretty things. It’s a fairy ring full of beautiful wildflowers, strong tuberose, and feral creatures. It’s a magical elixir that is honeyed and floral, but there’s something mischievous going on underneath. I envision a scene from Alice in Wonderland when I sniff this. It’s ethereal and enchanting, but also laundry-fresh and slightly sweet. Hello Poison, I know you’re in there. 😉 Ashamed it is discontinued because I can see wearing this all of the time. Unfortunately, I will not repurchase at the crazy high prices people on ebay are asking for. I guess I don’t love it THAT much to buy it. If it were the price of the others in the Poison line, however, I would not hesitate!

Didn’t think this could possibly have the Poison backbone, but it really does. I thought it’d smell exactly like Gres Cabotine, which I own, given the feedback and comparisons to the 2. I do see how this smells like Gres Cabotine, but it’s more complex. The opening, and the smell out of the bottle, is almost identical to Gres Cabotine. Where Cabotine is clean, laundry soapy, Tendre Poison is gritty green..dirty, forest. I see how people say this is soapy, but I only get that in the beginning on my skin. It turns into a honeyed, earthy, white floral scent..like smelling white flowers in the woods while camping. It is pretty light which I wasn’t expecting, but has a rich scent to it. I get lots of honey on the dry down and smells like the original Poison minus the plummy and purple notes. I like the comparison to a Venus fly trap. I’m amazed at how it transforms throughout the hours and I love it. I really didn’t expect to smell hints of the original in this. It’s a shame this is discontinued. At least Cabotine exists but feel like that’s more bubbly and laundry clean unlike the poisonous elixir in the beautiful green bottle.

Tendre Poison is a sweet, intoxicating white floral scent with lots of green aspects. I’m very uncertain what exactly makes me love this scent as much as I do. It’s definitely a Poison at heart. This one feels like a venus fly trap, it ensnares you almost as soon as you go in for a taste. The wild Amazonian Poison. Hypnotic Poison is chocolate laced with a drug – anybody who encounters it when you bless them with it will be at your mercy. Midnight Poison is the funeral Poison, emotions get in the way and you get into a bad situation. Pure Poison is the most Poisonous because you can’t detect any poison at all.
The tuberose and almonds seem to be what tie all of the Poisons together, and this has at least a strong tuberose. The comparisons to Gres by Cabotine make all the sense in the world. Both contain ginger flower, both are also very green.
This one is honestly impossible to put to words, but this is a true beauty. You must try this at least once in your life.

Just FYI, The Fragrance Shop has an oil called “1055” that is supposed to be a spot-on dupe for this, just in case anyone is wanting to sample this. I barely remember what Poison Tendre smelled like from the ’80s, but now I’m really intriqued to try it again. BTW, I’ve ordered many oils from TFS and they do great work!

As someone else on here had mentioned, this smells EXACTLY like how I remember the mid 1990’s. For being the Tendre version, this is still rather strong like the original. There is so much texture here.
It opens sharp with extremely indolic yellow and white flowers and crisp powder, and then settles slightly with a plummy musk. About 30 minutes is what it took me to get honey mixed with that tuberose or jasmine.
There’s something about this to me that says “stay away” but if you breathe it in enough, there’s an intoxicating quality that makes you keep coming back.

This perfume is like an essence of 90ties.
I have just a sample. Longevity is huge. Its semi sweet semi dry smell, honeyed with a bitter egde smell, so complex its hard to describe as a entire scent.

This sells for ridiculous amounts of money on eBay. When visiting an antique market this afternoon I could not believe my eyes when I saw a 95% full 100ml EDT tester. The Guy who sold it had a little cabinet mainly with old perfumes and a few testers but that was obviously not his speciality considering the little price he wanted for it. No way I could refuse!
Now I’ve been sitting at home with just one spray on a piece of paper. I have to say that I never smelled this perfume before today! My mother used to wear Poison but that’s as far as it gets. The first word that springs to mind is indeed “Cabotine” and not “Poison”. Now, there must be more to it. Some people say that Tendre Poison was Poison for a younger crowd. Could we also say that Tendre Poison might be Cabotine for a more mature crowd? A teenager could even get away wearing Cabotine but this one is maybe at least for a young lady in high heels. I don’t have a clue if there is anything in common in terms of composition but I also get a floral, feel good, glamorous feel as I do from Paris YSL. I also agree on what some other people said: it’s quite powerful.
Now, what am I gonna do with this? I am not going to wear it of course but… it’s simply gorgeous. When I was heading home I was already thinking about putting it on eBay but it’s such a blessing to have this. Maybe I shall keep it and spray it on a pillow when I need some confort.
    Life is full of surprises…

I don’t understand why with all the Poison flamkers, they chose to discontinue this gem.
My first encounter with this was back in college. Now, keep in mind, this was 1992, and the internet and days of online discounters was not yet up and running. I smelled this at the mall and so desperately wanted to own a bottle. I remember hocking my jewlery (yes, I did that) just so I could collect 75 dollars to buy the largest bottle of it.
Yes, Cabotine is a near dupe. Plus, it is crazy, silly, affordable nearly everywhere. But…..there is something about Tendre Poison that I know I would buy another bottle to this day, should it return. Unfortunately, I don’t trust the ones I see on eBay, there are far too many of them going around “new and in the box” that I hesitate to believe they are genuine by now.

The consummate procrastinator, in me, finally unpacked two boxes of my collection of perfume miniatures I’ve had since the mid 90s. I was into their tiny cute bottles, not the juice itself, and used to display in a small curio atop my dresser for many years. When we moved to our second house, I left them in their boxes thinking I would retrieve them out of the closet, one day. Last night was the day.
I discovered I had vintage, niche perfumes from Chanel, Salvador Dahli, Givenchy, YSL, Cartier, Nina Ricci, and Christian La Croix to name a few.
To my surprise, I found a miniature of Tendre Poison and Poison. As soon as I removed the small glass stopper on Tendre Poison, the most gorgeous aromatics of flowers came out. (like a genie in a bottle screaming to come out) I didn’t have to dab, it just filled the cool air in my office. Excited to do a comparison with Cabotine de Gres, I instantly smelled the similarity. However, Tendre Poison has a richness and depth in its composition, whereas, Cabotine is lighter and me thinks I might wear more of. Fine by me, since Tendre Poison is no longer available for retail price. I’m just thrilled with my not so new find. Keeping it in a cool, dark place has definitely kept its integrity in tact. Yay!!

This is a lighter-weight in the Poison range and it does smell like a product of its time. Trying to appeal to a younger audience than the original Poison, it doesn’t pack a heavy punch and relies on Tuberose and Freesia to take the lead but it doesn’t needlessly stray into being a lightweight floral like newer fragrances. But that’s what is so appealing about it, it really is such a 90s throwback. For that fact alone, I think they should have kept making it because it gives me such wonderful de ja vu of happier times. Never matter, I have a decent stash of this discontinued fragrance.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

This discontinued Poison is a pretty little scent that is light, clean and fresh. Unfortunately, I found this scent to smell soapy, a soap that is heavy on the white florals (this indicates the combination of citrus and white florals on my skin). I definitely smell freesia, which seems to dominate on me and both citruses are very much apparent, whilst during the dry-down everything gets progressively a little more soft and musky.
Both the honey and asafoetida were the main reasons that I sought this fragrance out. I adore honey in perfumes and I thought that unusual spice would add a point of difference, but these notes were nowhere to be found on my skin. I think what has happened is that the dominant white florals and citruses have crowded out all of the other notes for me, which is disappointing, so although Tendre Poison is ultimately not for me, I’m happy to have tried it 🙂

  37. :

That first blast is almost like a beautiful but poisonous elixir ~ something you want to wear or drink, but know you shouldn’t. It’s an off-putting but addictive note, but it fades pretty quickly.
It does, if you just kinda hover around your wrist, smell like the daytime Poison, or the safe Poison. But it’s not really safe; it’s still a little vampy. It’s just way more floral and way less spicy than the original purple vixen.
I get a lot of honey in the drydown. Before that, I for sure get freesia and vanilla ~ a combo that feels a little like Poeme but doesn’t smell like it, really ~ and I smell a warm and comforting honeyed rose.
It’s excellent. It’s very well done. It’s strong for a short while, and then more of a skin scent (on me, but my skin eats perfume).
Note: my bottle (the only one I’ve ever tested on my skin) is the oval one (vintage?), if that helps.

This smells very green to me and not like a big bold white floral, thankfully. Isn’t galbanum in the top note and not asofoetida, or are they in the same class? Tendre Poison can be sharp at times but the honey and woods really tone it down. What I love about Tendre Poison is the many facets. Sometimes it smells powdery, sometimes soapy, other times I get a lot of floral, some sweet, but there’s always the unique green note (galbanum?) peeking through. Don’t forget about that sexy musk in the dry down. Pure heaven!

Tuberose, honey, freesias, orange blossom all wrapped up in a bouquet extravaganza that is poison tendre!
Oh how I miss this fragrance so much,I so wish I could smell that poison elixir, that I grew up with in my 20’s!
It has such a following and yet Dior discontinued it,yet I ask myself why?!
Poison girl is lovely but so is this and there is a market that is craving for this, which is so different to poison girl
I may well look online to see if I can still find the vintage or reformulated version.
Tender poison will always love on in the fragrance noses that we have and in our hearts……

Tendre Poison is an announcement that the tranquility of spring has passed and the first true day of summer has arrived.
The sharp opening of the asafoetida is the sun breaking over the horizon – quickly warming a lush green garden. Leaves unfurl, the dew dries, flowers open… the garden awakes!
As the sharp opening fades, the heart of Tendre Poison reveals the first warm-hot day of summer: tuberose blooms and busy bees take flight, doing the important work of life!
…Tendre Poison is sunny, green and alive. It radiates warmth and optimism. I’ve happily fallen under its spell.

I first smelled it from an almost empty bottle back in highschool. Only few drops were left inside and it felt intoxicating. I closed my eyes and instantly was like hypnotised. I wished for it then. Highschool was over and so I forgot about this poison. That was 16 years ago. Today I bought it, I was lucky enough to find it in a store which sells rare cosmetics. An other perfume made me think of this fragrance even though it has no similarity. I had huge expectactions while opening this perfume, but all I smelled before taking a spritz was vinegar. That didn’t stop me to try it on my skin and that was a good decision, because after an hour I couldn’t stop sniffing myself, it was THAT good! I finally have the pleasure to enjoy it whenever I want and I definitely will:)
Update: I have the need to wear this tendre poison every day now! It is really a special scent and I understand why it’s still being worshiped by so many people. A good thing that it became rare. The feeling that it gives me, really can’t compare to any other..

One of the first modern day flankers –Tendre Poisions creator set out to create a fresher, younger, day version of Poison.
The Asafoetida brings the opening very sharp and grabs your attention. I remember trying it in 1994 launch and found the top notes extremely sharp. Either though age of the juice or a more educated nose, I think its extraordinary because of the way galbanum and bergamot is harnessed by the Rosewood, and the Mandarin with the freesia and tuberose seeping up to counter the green almost “soapy” smelling opening.
Then the honey comes to the rescue and Tendre nods to her sister Poison. The honey, tuberose, spices, sandalwood done with a green style==fresher back in the day… and vanilla and heliotrope in the base. More feminine, day floral of the queen of the night Poison. It performs very well in the daytime heat.
Make no mistake this green girl has lasting power, silage of her sister Poison. If Poison was the sexy evil queen incarnate, this is Lilith or the snake in the garden tempting Adam & Eve.
Some say Cabotine is a close dupe.. I find its too floral and devoid of the key honey note that is the lynchpin that makes this work so well.

  45. :

Smells like a cross between the original Poison and the old Dove soap bars. It’s soapy, powdery, a little sweet and a touch masculine. It smells even more vintage than the early 1990’s.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

This is really much better than Poison Girl because Poison Girl falls flat sometimes. This does not because it has so much going on for it. It’s multi layered and fragrant with an unforgettable beauty. I was afraid that because of the green liquid it would be a fragrance of green notes, green grass, leaves, tarragon and green florals or possibly green apples. But this is neither a green floral nor a fruity scent. This is very hard to describe. I smelled an opening of citrus fresh and sweet, refreshing, cool. It begins to turn flowery with rose and orange blossom but these flowers are pushed aside briskly by a tuberose. This is a tuberose scent so you have to be used to tuberoses or a fan of tuberose. Smells lovely. A brilliant white floral. Then the whole thing is sweetened by distinct honey. It’s warm and gooey but in a good way. There is also something called asafetida which is usually found in chypres. I have recently come across the original vintage Ivoire de Balmain which has asafetida and Magie Noire also has it. This stuff has it but it gets into the honey and it’s mostly a honey. So this is a white floral honey gorgeousness! It’s sweet but not cloying, strong but not heavy. Every ingredient falls into place beautifully. At times it reminds me of Elie Saab the Parfum. Beautiful honeyed florals. The dry down is either musky or soapy. It also turns into a strangely sweet melon scent. It does all kind of beautiful things. One of the more beautiful Poisons of the series.

I was very fortunate to find a bottle of this vintage Tendre Poison quite by chance. I already own Cabotine by Gres which I love so very much, and was excited to try this for comparison. The Dior opens the same for me, nice and fresh, spring-like, but then becomes sweeter with the honey. The tuberose is definately there for me – so I have to say I love this one as well. Anyone who misses Tendre Poison will surely enjoy a close second with Cabotine by Gres.

The first time I really fell in love with a perfume was with this one. I absolutely adored it and still do, but I cant find it anymore. I still remember the scent. very soft, sparkling, natural, round, tender, feminine and joyful. It was such a unique scent, and definately much nicer than its predesessor “Poison”. Why on earth would they discontinue it? It was actually quite popular both among younger and middleaged woman in the 90ties

This is a very beautiful fragrance sadly discontinued. Scratching my head, Why Dior?? I enjoy its evolution from top to bottom. The description says “poisonous but gentle” and these words describe it very well. The opening is harsh and quite scary because the strong citrus&flowers are all quite sharp. There is some underlying skank which brings to mind the high heat of summer when odors become more intense or heightened by the heat. This stage I found a challenge, startling, awakening the senses. I kept looking at the note pyramid trying to figure out which note is which, the blending is very masterful. The drydown is soft but carries a noticeable presence. On the whole the scent is a glorious bouquet of flowers drizzled with honey beautifully escaptulated in this green bottle. Just amazingly different and unique and worth the experience. Though very similar to Cabotine Gres, testing them side by side on each arm PoisonTendre has body whereas Cabotine Gres is just the skeleton. For some reason this reminds me of the movie ‘Shakespeare In Love’ beautifully acted by Gwyneth Paltrow and her leading man Joseph Fiennes, that particular scene when Romeo finding what he thinks his Juliet dead, in grief takes the vial of poison ending his life. Then she (Juliette) awakens to find him dead and she also takes her own life. A tragedy but still very beautiful in it’s innocence. The perfume itself a virtual masterpiece.

I did not care for the Original Poison, but when I smelled this at Macy’s I knew i had to have it and was pleasantly surprised when my small children pooled their allowance and bought me a bottle for Christmas one year. I loved it! I was so happy. It lasted me a couple of years and I have missed it ever since. That was years ago. It is very rare to find and very spendy nowadays. The perfumery at my local Mall had it at one time, but It was still very spendy and I have not been able to afford it. It sells for an outrageous amount on ebay as well. I would looove to smell this again! I miss it so much!

Finally I am able to smell this vintage classic, thanks to Tippy (Thank you, my darling!). After reading the reviews I feel that everything is already written. The opening is not tender at all, but within an hour comes the best part – honey mixed with florals. The most interesting thing is that although it’s not balsamic like Poison, it slightly reminds me of it. I think that the tuberose here is incorporated in a similar way. So it’s really tender and greener variation, compared to CD Poison. Tendre Poison is a perfume for a future femme fatale.

Vintage Tendre Poison: Far, far from being tender this green, soapy tuberose with mentholated aspects, sharp galbanum and animalic musk + that strange asafoetida, is, if anything, a skankylicious powerhouse. If anything it is the same vein as the original Agent Provocatuer and has the same type of dusty, peculiar rose. I wear this VERY rarely (also because I have the original and only less than half a bottle left) because it DOES make me long for something easier quite quickly. It´s beyond stylish, if by stylish one thinks of different and standing out. To me it´s way more complicated than its predecessor Poison. It´s colder, YET dirtier and that is quite and achievement. I feel some kinship also to my beloved Armani original- not so much in exact smell as in daringness. But Tendre Poison never gets warm on my body, which Armani and Agent Prov do. I find Tendre Poison to be very fascinating and beautiful, and I love it for what it is. But it´s bit too brightly daring, so to speak. Very well done of the perfumer.

Tried to like original Poison in Junior High well into High schools
and come colledge instantly bought a whole wardrobe of this i.e.
lotion, gel, eau, and perfume thinking this’d definitely where it’d
be at, especially due to the fact that I was enrolled in the summer!
Blind buy. Immediately wore it. What can I say. WOW. In a bad
way. Deceptive aren’t we? Or not, for this is tender POISON not
Tender Heart or something like that! It poisoned mY days & mind
into thinking I was wearing a formidable perfume when I was not.
Oh no. Not refined. Not classy. Not pretty. Not lovely. Not good.
Nor beautiful. Frankly smells ugly & trashy & in a high pitched sort
of way. Dirty, over-dramatic, chaotic, just gross. Pornographic to
the point of being vulgar. I didn’t believe that they’d let 18 yr olds
buy this. What’s wrong with the world. 100% UNsuitable for any
life event short of if you happen to be auditioning to be an extra in
a start-up low-budget porno flick flop – in the summer. No. Peace.

Christian Dior Tender Poison used to be my signature perfume, until Dior decided to discontinue it for reasons only known to themselves!! I absolutely hate Dior for doing this with most of the Poison range (Midnight Poison) which I absolutely also loved!! Tender Poison was absolutely beautiful,& will forever live in my heart & my memory forever!! & I still have a half full 50ml etd which I use occasionally!! Thank God for Gres Cabotine which smells similar to Tender Poison!!

I can’t be the only one here who has experienced a very rude but strangely addictive “zoo like” musky note in this…this is poison, minus the fruit and incense, with a smack of something decidedly “horsey” thrown in for intrigue. It also reminds me a bit of dirty, sweaty girl’s panties, but in a nice way…Very rude indeed. I guess it must be asofoetida.
    Poison goes to the zoo.

This is a curious beast, instantly recognizable. It opens sharply, with a citrus accord of mandarin and bergamot, before quickly moving to a powerful tuberose and honey. On the blotter I can sense the support players of sandalwood, musk and vanilla, but they are harder to find on my skin. The overall effect reminds me vividly of a monofloral honey I once owned a jar of, but I can’t for the life of me remember what that flower was. Interesting, rather than lovely.
