Description

“Some people are born lucky…” is the motto of the new Playboy concept and Press to Play collection which counts four fragrances named Hollywood, Malibu, Miami and Vegas. The fragrances embody style and dynamics of life in four big cities. Each of the compositions shows style and nature of different men, but what is in common to them is erotic allusion which tingles women’s imagination.

Playboy Vegas is a decadent oriental-fougere fragrance, which opens with delicate apple, basil and tea. Fine scent of lavender in a heart is surrounded with jasmine and geranium, which contribute to elegance of the composition. Base notes incorporate musk, tonka, vanilla and georgywood (combination of wood and amber) leaving a sensual and exciting effect.

The flacons have dark bodies and Playboy logo, rabbit. Each perfume has different colour of its fluid. The flacons are cylindrical and they arrive as 50 and100ml EDT.
Playboy Vegas was launched in 2008. The nose behind this fragrance is Jack Agran.

On first try, I got licorice-y basil and sweet tea, that dries to woody musk base, which I liked very well. On
a second try, the apple and basil didn’t meld, but dry down was a nice warm lavender musk with wood notes, kind of like Le Male plus a nutty wood note and apples. In the middle it smells like bubblegum, then at the very end, I was left with what I can only describe as stage-makeup: Greasepaint, dust and latex. Huh? Not sure what happened there. Don’t love it.

Playboy Vegas is a scent that is a bit of a sleeper from a sleeper house. It is one I easily forget about between wearings. But when I am in the mood for it, I love its smell but then quickly forget about it again…
Playboy Vegas opens up like a lightened up Stetson. It may have apple and tea but it settles into the powdery nature of the classic 1980’s powerhouse. As it goes into its base, it takes on the form of Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy Men along with some tonka bean from Stetson’s base. That said, it is a more subdue version of both scents. Like all Playboy scents I’ve tried, it isn’t a powerhouse of sillage and projection in comparison to its “parents”. I wore it to a gym and it didn’t kill the room, yet both Stetson and 212 Sexy Men could do it without fail. Performance wise, it goes more 212 Sexy Men than Stetson with a short window of life, about three to four hours as opposed to seven from even modern Stetson.
Playboy Vegas is light enough for work but can easily be worn casually in fall/winter and even early spring and also dates. That said, it can be a fragrance your girlfriend can easily wear too. So if you don’t like feminine scents, this may not be for you.
Overall, I do like Vegas. My complaints are it could benefit from being stronger and lasting another two hours. It dies off before you can use it in a close encounter after the date. For this, I give it a 7 out of 10. It’s a nice gateway drug to Stetson for young people.

Playboy fragrances are not what we think of as being high quality colognes but they have produced a few goodies that actually smell good, have a fan base, and can smell good on you as it can to others smelling it on you. I concur with reviewer Shauna Parra that this is a unisex fragrance and can be enjoyed and worn by both sexes. First of all, forget the perfume snobbish attitude about cheap versus expensive fragrances or brand name/designer fragrances A list versus the “B” version of fragrances – i.e. Coty, Avon, Mary Kay. Playboy is a part of this latter group but they have produces pretty good scents with merits of their own. This is one of them. I enjoy this light fruity musky scent during the day time and have received many compliments mostly from females. I was wearing it at the super market the other day and a lady next to me in the fresh produce section gave me a smile.
Imagine your first night, your very first night in Las Vegas. You’re not yet 21 but you had to become familiar with Vegas so that when you are 21 you will know how to roll with your friends when it comes time to party. This is a for a 17 or 18 year old adolescent who has a predilection for light fragrances, subtle colognes, nothing as powerful as dad’s colognes or as heavy hitting fragrant bombs as those Persian cab drivers or the guys who work and live in Beverly Hills California! This is for a young man who is just starting to wear colognes. This is an intro to fragrance. In fact one can argue that this is a lighter more juvenile version of Le Male by Gaultier. I’m not a fan of Le Male, maybe I’m the only one, but this I like, despite having some similar characteristics. This is lighter and sweeter and more wearable, casual, sporty, something to wear anywhere including the gym or the grocery store.
The first spritz of Vegas Playboy is a licorice type of scent and almost like putting your nose to the ball of a roller ball deodorant bottle. There is a period of time in the beginning of the fragrance with all the linear notes hit you. I get a lot of lavender. This is the same type of aromatic lavender note found in Le Male. Spicy and floral. Additional floral notes of light barely there jasmine and more noticeable geranium are thrown into the mix. The lavender is very well done.
Then I smelled a spice possibly the basil note. Green in color and scent. Then I smelled a licorice. It might be the root of licorice or even orris root but it’s not powdery at all. An aromatic green note is here perhaps the granny smith apple or green apple but it never gets too fruity for me. The tea note is discernable and smells like a warm tea with lavender aroma. The tea note is delicious, a bit unusual for a man’s cologne but nice, very nice.
As the fragrance begins to dry, you no longer smell licorice, tea or lavender. There is no fruit anymore and you get a musk. It also smells of dark woods. This is a woodsy and musky dry down. The musk could have been leathery and more engaging as a note but it’s not bad as a simple musk. Again this is a very good starter fragrance for beginners. Unisex. Ladies will like the florals and men will like the musk.
This is very very very easy to wear. It smell good in spring and summer in the day time with casual T shirts and jeans. Vegas Playboy is not making a statement. The downside with this cologne and some of the other Playboys is that the sillage and longevity are pathetic. This can be detected if you over spray and if you don’t, which I don’t, it’s barely perceptible. The scent does not linger long enough for me to really go nuts about it. It’s a light body mist and lasts less than an hour and a half or two hours. A bit of a downer in that sense I guess but if you are the type of person that doesn’t like to wear fragrances or don’t care for long lasting colognes and just want to smell decent for a date and not make a big statement then wear this. It’s simple and innocent and just the type of cologne for certain days or occasions.

70% Tabu, 20% Stetson, and 10% Obsession. That is what my nose consistently picks up in the batch I have. It is not a bad combo; but if you don’t like any of those fragrances, it’s doubtful you will like Vegas.
I agree with others that this is definitely a unisex scent. My batch was a skin scent with below-average longevity and sillage, which I thought was acceptable in light of the price. That also makes it a good choice for work.
Worth a try if you like Tabu and/or Stetson in any degree.

This is the only “man’s” cologne I wear, because it’s very unisex and also a bit more on the feminine side. My boyfriend Stephen wears PLAYBOY LONDON which compared to this scent is more overtly masculine with something like tobacco, lots of spices, musk and all the traditional ingredients of men’s colognes, along with a strange cognac. On Stephen the scent is very masculine. Vegas however has a soft projection. This is so soft it’s barely there. It’s like a light body mist and I wish it could be a bit more full bodied. I do like soft scents whether aimed at guys or gals. Vegas is a geranium and tea scent. The floral really stands out but I can’t make out the lavender. This is a very subtle floral with geranium, some tea, although this is like a cherry or licorice flavored ice tea. It’s sweet. Very sweet. I don’t see how this scent represents Las Vegas in any way. It’s suitable to boys who are just starting to wear colognes or body sprays grade school, middle school. This is a boy at his first dance or mixed boys-and-girls party. This will indeed attract a girl who likes licorice and sweet soft smells. Nothing about it smells like a man. It’s a little boy who got his first kiss. This is a lovely perfume. It’s cheap as hell at under 10 bucks but that doesn’t mean it’s not good. I have worn this to parties and although I do have some more expensive perfumes this scent is always comforting and enjoyable. It’s a delicious tea.

I think the people who say simply that it smells like licorice are perceiving a “blob” here, for whatever reason. To me it seems like root beer tea (if there is such a thing) with some Le Male type element that isn’t quite as strong, at least not for the first half hour or so. There’s a kind of cool crispness to it, so don’t expect a syrupy quality, though I can understand that some would say it’s a bit creamy. I also suggest not smelling this up close on the skin, as that might lead to perceptions of a “synthetic” quality (I sprayed once to the chest). I obtained a 100 ml bottle for next to nothing, so the only question for me is if I enjoy it enough to wear it once in a while. It reminds me of another scent, but I can’t seem to place it right now. And I agree with those who suggest a different composition, for example with the lavender tuned down to a hint and a noticeable tobacco note (for it be deserve to be called Vegas), but that is a different issue.
UPDATE: The drydown is similar to a number of scents that have a creamy vanillic lavender predominance, such as Legend by Michael Jordan, only here it’s a bit different due to tea, etc. versus coffee. For the price, assuming you get it at “super cheapo” prices, this is “serviceable” for sure, and should be regarded as at least an excellent deal, though it’s not my favorite composition due to personal preferences.
UPDATE #2: Several hours in and performance has been excellent. This is a great example of a “super cheapo” being able to go up against the $80 or so designer scents, some of which I can’t wear because over time those become more “chemical,” whereas this one becomes less “synthetic” smell over time!

What to say…….. What to say……… Well, it’s very unique, it’s very warm, it’s Playboy! To my nose it’s candy apple, vanilla, root beer/dum dum, black licorice and some sort of automotive rubber with a smidgen of black pepper and barbasol. I don’t get tea at all. Yet again I don’t get most of the stuff that they say is in it anyway. The on;y ones I really detect are the apple, vanilla, tonka bean, musk, and woods. Rest are a mystery. If you’re teens to 25 and want an everyday winter frag but don’t want to spend butt loads on 1 million or Le Male i’d say check it out. It’s a decent cheapie.

For the longest time I had written this one off, put off by the synthetic nature of the fragrance, but decided to give it another wear to see if things had changed. The tea note here comes in rather quickly and the reviewer before me is correct in saying it gives off a strong anise, licorice smell on top. As it calms down the vanilla, green apple, lavender and tonka bean converge on the tea but never eclipse it, adding a bit more range and interest in the background to the rather synthetic opening of cream soda, black twizzlers and Ceylon black tea.
The dry-down is rather standard for an oriental but the tea note is what makes or breaks this fragrance. (It dominates the whole way through) There’s something extremely synthetic in that tea note that comes off a bit cloying and can induce a headache or allergy attack with some people, so if you are prone to allergies; I would reach for Playboy Hollywood or VIP instead.
This is best for fall, winter and early spring as it’s vanilla-Tonka heavy and doesn’t perform well in the heat and its synthetic core becomes rather unglued. I see why some people like this, it’s a good value and performance is solid at 3-6 hours with moderate projection the whole way; but for someone like myself whose sinuses can’t handle some of the more aggressive synthetic juices, it just doesn’t work for me and sadly is one of the few scrubbers I’ve encountered along with Usher VIP.
Read Kharnak’s first review towards the bottom of the page, his great suggestion of using Playboy Vegas in combination with Cuba Red to give it a real old-school, Fremont Street vibe is fun and really does help dissipate the obnoxious tea note but still wasn’t enough to save this one for me.

So I bought this one blind since the body spray for Hollywood was not existent at my neighborhood market. At first I almost likened it to Miami, but it’s definitely more musk. I sprayed it on when I got back to the house and was surprised. Under the musk is that fruit scent, but it’s not easy to spot. It works, though. I didn’t notice it much during the day wearing it, but I like the fact that it does not hold on forever. The musk can get old after a while. I have no regrets.

Sweet Vanilla, Tea, Toothpaste. Dries to a pleasant soft Vanilla musk. Not bad really, but not what i’d think of Vegas.

This is an okay scent. Not my favorite, almost too perfumey for me. Does give you a huge sillage for your money, but doesn’t last long at all. If you are into really floral perfumey clean scents buy it. It’s only around $10.

No one can deny its competence as a pleasant fragrance. It is, however, very much lacking in originality, and does not linger on you for very long. Something to keep as a reserve for when you’ve run out of your favourite; one to stay at the back of the cupboard.

It’s good, great in winter. The only thing is it doesn’t project as well as I’d like, it lasts for around 7 hours but that’s just on my skin.

Bought this, and 2 other Playboy Edt’s for my son as they were on sale, a bargain. I was surprised with how nice they smelled. Even more surprised when i tried this on me, and it turned out really lovely.
Yes masculine (which i don’t often mind in my perfumes, think Tom Ford fragrances), but as it dried down on my skin, the vanilla and tonka bean really stood out, and gave it a sweet touch. Stayed on for a few hours, which i think is good enough for an EdT with this price tag. So if my son won’t wear it, i sure will 😀

I love this and I’m a girl. My boyfriend got this as a gift for his birthday. He didn’t like it, so it was just sitting on our dresser for a while.
I like fruity scents, but I also love manlier, musky, spicy fragrances, so one day I decided to try this out.
I loove this on me. It doesn’t even smell like a man’s cologne on me. It smells warm, and spicy, and just sexy, but femenine. I guess it’s the way it mixes with my natural scent. My boyfriend can’t believe it’s the same perfume. He loves it on me.
Guess that goes to show how one perfume really can smell different on different people!

While people are right about this being somewhat synthetic, once you get past the first 10-15 of the top notes, this turns into something great! This is an awesome winter frag that lasts fairly long, 6-8 hours. The projection is great too! This definetally smells like a more expensive cologne in the heart and base. But there is something that I have tried and enjoyed… wearing this in the summer brings out the apple and vanilla. It is a great year-round cologne that’s very inexpensive.

    I hate this fragrance!
It smells too synthetic and also smells very cheap. When my brother wears it it gives me a hedache.
    Don’t buy this.

This smells like cheap aftershave,it’s not worth the money ! Hollywood and Miami smell way better!

I found a small size of this at CVS for like 3-4 bucks,it’s far to light and smells real cheap like some kind of cheap air freshner for your car! Now the Hollywood is much better and has a fresh smell mixed with a bit of Oriental.

I’ve had my Vegas on for seven hours now, I can still smell it very clearly (three sprays on neck, one on each arm). Could have taken less and still felt it. Probably depends a lot on skin type and personal sweat/skin oil mix. However, this was my first Playboy fragrance and I liked it so much I immediately bought Ibiza and Hollywood too, without even trying them. This one is a spicy mix of fruit and tea, with a touch of vanilla. The spicyness gives a nice warmth to it, and I find it definitely best for winter. It’s youthful, playful and virile like all of the Playboy scents. Sure, it smells a bit cheap and synthetic, but it IS cheap and synthetic. And personally I really don’t care as long as I like the scent.

This scent is much in the style of Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Since I am a big fan of Le Male, I must say that this Playboy Vegas also pleases me greatly. The smell of this perfume is very nice and attractive.
I think the range of Playboy perfumes have everything to affirm themselves in the market of perfumes with a medium / low price.
    I approve.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

Incredibly simple in its construction and formulation, Playboy Vegas rolls the dice with an interesting merging of tea and apple with the slightest kick of basil on top that lacks precision and comes off very flat and synthetic, with the tea out of tune and emitting far too synthetic a pulse on the wearer. It appears the apple doesn’t seem to find accord with the poorly constructed tea note and the middle doesn’t account for the flaw soon enough, letting the top notes extend their life well into the middle, becoming cloying and implying a cheapness most men over twenty five will most likely find off-putting.
The lavender, jasmine and geranium do show up very briefly a few minutes into the evolution of Vegas but by then the cheap and synthetic core of Playboy Vegas has made it impossible to salvage and the florals are too weak to overcome the tea note creating a discord that only downshifts the slightest bit when the vanilla in the base makes itself known about fifteen minutes in and finally disappears around the thirty minute mark, evolving into a bland but endurable vanilla and tonka dry down.
This is best suited for the college and high school crowd looking for an affordable spray on that isn’t overwhelming and also isn’t sophisticated and “old-mannish”. This is certainly Muddy Waters certified “mannish boy”, as this is a fun synthetic bomb for the younger generation to appreciate. Longevity is fairly weak, with 2-3 hours the standard and projection somewhat below average but not completely fading to a skin scent until the hour and a half mark. Well intentioned but fails because of a real lack of tender love and care blending the tea note with the rest of the fragrance.

i got this one in a box that came with shower gel and i bought it cuz it was a PLAYBOY product and i thought it was cute….the fragrance is NOT cute… the longevity lasts about 2 hours on me….the smell is blah, smells like any cheap aftershave and the projection isn’t that good… i give it a 4oo10

I use the aftershave virson of this since long, i feel the smilarity with Davidoff ECHO ! Nice warm and humble as an aftershave with Great lasting….I feel it on my neck even till the night ! As for the after shave i give 7/10 !

Vegas by Playboy is a decent cologne. It has a good opening, but after that it sort of fades in to basically nothing. It is a fragrance that is not suited for summer because the scent just dies in heat. All in all not a bad purchase given the inexpensive price of the cologne, but not all that great.
    6.5/10

Playboy Vegas is all about cloyingly sweet characteristics, IMHO. I find it very interesting and alluring even though it does not fit my taste.
Vegas = Vanilla (from my nose ^.^)
All in all. Average sillage but rather short longevity forces me to give it 2/10. 1 for its interesting juice color and another 1 for its well-blended vanilla. Thank you for reading 🙂

Since I pretty much feel the same way about this fragrance as I do about Grey Flannel. I just went ahead and coppied my review from Grey Flannel……….
Out of all the fragrances I ever owned or currently own, this is my least favorite. Now keep in my mind, my current and previous fragrance total is less than 30. However I like Grey Flannel the least as well as Vegas by Playboy. Then again, these are the only two I own that are oriental. So if you are a fan of the oriental scent then this may be alright for you.

I have to admit that I was hesitant to buy this range of Playboy fragrances; but eventually, I succumbed, took the plunge, and was so glad I did!
This is my favourite, but what’s good about the fragrance is that it actually smells great, is inexpensive with an ergonomic bottle design that actually fits in a man’s suit trouser or jeans pocket and curves with his body – I’m sure that’s no accidental design!
The perfume is highly adaptable in any situation or temperature and good for officewear or play, night or day.
Although it lasts all day and into the night, you’ll be carrying a bottle of this in your pocket or messenger bag or briefcase for quick touch-ups before you eventually end your evening.
This fragrance comes with a matching, highly effective deodorant bodyspray and is highly recommended, definitely worth trying; especially for the price!

After purchasing and testing Miami, Malibu, and Hollywood. I’ve come to the conclusion that Vegas is my Fav out of the three. I still have a couple bottles to review, but for now Vegas has taken the lead. I Love this Fragrance. Maybe its the Oriental allure, or the fact that it last 3 times longer on my skin then the other 2. It opens very fresh, but for me its all about the continual basenotes that are present through the top and midnotes. I recieved a great deal of compliments today.
