Received my samples today. Petit Trianon smells like rootbeer. No kidding. I think it’s the Ambrette seed? But I get rootbeer. Not unpleasant or anything, but sweet. I would say it’s unisex.

On me this is smoky and herbal. I too smell clove here but I suppose that it is an illusion made by that smoky note and something else that I can’t quite put my finger on… This scent doesn’t really bring Petit Trianon to mind for me, but rather some place much wilder and more barren. Fortunately I like these associations much better than the Petit Trianon concept!

As I was contemplating this one a past review sprung to mind, Caron’s parfum Poivre. Hmm… my comment on that was, ‘Caron needs to be called to task on this’ because it was too watery and spice drawer.
I mustn’t like clove. Or at least, clove for clove’s sake. I agree with Doc that this is all thats left, along with a faint aquatic floral something-else.
Opening is well rounded and lush, and here is when I thought I had a hit. The dry down takes an hour, but when it hits, the waft smells too strongly clove and not strongly enough of anything interesting.
This is one I think is better suited for a man. It’s not bad, but spices are hard for me to wear.
