1980s shampoo, Finesse or PertPlus…I’m not sure which of the two as it has been so long but it definitely smells like my showers at the YMCA as a kid.
It’s a heavy, leathery sligtly spicy (think freshly ground peper) yet oddly somehow an aquatic floral.
Leather jacket and leather boots meets Crabtree and Evelyn in rainy spring. I hated it at first but I understand it and appreciate it the more I wear it. Not a drop of sweetness here.

This gorgeous perfume is almost identical to Serge Lutens Renard Constrictor, which is part of S.L’s ‘gold line’which are almost $1000 aud for the 75ml bottle! For me, it’s the amazing opening with this fragrance that I enjoy the most. I get sweet and sour berries, other fruits along with the floral bouquet. Sadly, I’m not getting my beloved tobacco leaf note which is listed in the pyramid but that’s cool……
Was surprised to not see ‘jasmine’ listed, but all in all, Petal Noir is a really beautiful perfume, IMO, best suited to spring and summer. 🙂

Petale Noir by Agent Provocateur. I think this a
classy, elegant scent. Lovely, one of my favorites.
Very complex set of notes that meld beautifully together. Sophisticated. Lasts all day on me.
I think this is a small masterpiece.

sprays on a bitter vanilla in the top opening, some odd sour note but then the sharp aldehydes and florals rise with lily of the valley prominent along with magnolia and hyacinth and lilac. There is some musk in the base. This reminds me of those sharp florals of the 80s and 90s (not the big white floral bombs) like Le Jardin or Anais Anais.

The perfume reminds me of bitter flowers. This bitterness makes it mysterious and unique, and that is what I love about this perfume. I would define the scent as deep, dark florals. In my opinion, the name “Petale Noir” describes the perfume very well. I imagine white and pink flowers, but there is something dark and mysterious about them. And I love this kind of scents.
Longevity is about 4-5 hours. I prefer not to wear this perfume to work. It just doesn’t create the right mood for work. I like to wear it on the weekend and sometimes in the evening. Love the bottle as well.

Blind buy – 30 ml bottle has lasted over 1.5 years which is because I don’t use it very often. Never received a compliment on Petale Noir. Not my typical choice of fragrance, but I still weirdly like it’s bitter undertones.
I won’t be repurchasing, but I imagine there would be people out there who would like it.

I still consider this a weird scent
you can say this one is fresh because the magnolia and hyacinth do a good job here
you can also say this one is heavy because the leather is quite dominant here
besides that, floral vibes are also quite detectable
it’s just a strange and awkward scent
“I’m not a girl, not yet a woman.”
    just like this.

I ran into one these perfumes by AP online and liked the bottle it was solid pink, then I thought I would come here see if I could find one that I may like. It just occur to me that this has leather which means animal! I wonder if I have any my perfumes with leather? However, I don’t think I do, I much prefer without leather, I already have sum perfumes that have musk that is also from animal!
Deer Musk- is a substance with a persistent odor, from a gland of the male musk deer situated in its back/rectal area. The substance has been extensively used as a perfume! Although not all musk are from deer, they can be from other animals such as the Civet. Deer musk is or was hunted for this purpose, I believe in 2011 they now raise them instead of hunting but I’m not quite sure.
It’s funny I do recall when looking for perfume making sure it had no musk, I think Im going back to No Musk!

This is a gorgeous magnolia leather tobacco fragrance (has that been done before?). I feel that other than that it’s difficult to pinpoint the notes exactly, but not a bad thing at all. Just very well blended!
I didn’t love this right after sniffing, but after wearing it, I’m enamored. I don’t own this but working through some samples that the lovely LLB_addict gave me.
This somewhat reminds me of a cigar wrapped in white flowers and ylang-ylang. Not masculine, however. Very feminine. The way it transforms on skin is amazing and lasts all day on me. Unlike other reviewers, I do get a noir-vibe. Like a pretty, dainty lady hanging out with smoking gents in a dark basement playing poker kind of noir. A little good girl goes bad vibe here that isn’t so desperate for attention.

This is a bust for me… I get extreme ylang ylang in a strong sweet waxy powdery way. And that’s it. I can find the vintage-vibe they were maybe going for, but it’s not good. It’s soooo sweet and powdery/waxy– none in a good way. I also get a distinct TEA dryness. Which smells kinda sour?
Many days later (on my tissue test) I get some orange blossom…. but it must be another white flower.
Total disappointment for me here. I LOVE vintage scents and chypre notes… but I get nada with this. 🙁 I love every single base note listed, but this is just a very waxy sweet floral on me. I don’t HATE it I guess.
Maybe this needs warm weather. I’m well into my cold/dark fall/winter in Michigan and won’t see warmth until May.
I wore this to work on a COLD April day (Seriously… 2018 winter sucks! It’s still snowing!) and it was still the same… BUT the smell lingers forever on fabric/clothing and my bra smelled like Petale Noir when I wore it again (Truth be told, I wear my bras twice before washing… lol) but I wore Chanel No. 19 to work the next day, on my chest/sweater. The mix of those 2… Petale Noir and No. 19– PERFECTION! If only No. 19 EDT lasted like PN.

This instantly threw me back to the 80s..Something vintage, I have definitely smelled something similar before, but long time ago, maybe Anais Anais, or Poison maybe? Or maybe it`s the profusion of notes that does this trick..
In my opinion it is not really a noir scent either. It is rather cold, bit sharp, but rich and interesting. I`d rather name it `Petale Cruelle`. It opens up a bit sweet and syrupy, just like AP, and gradually as it starts to dry down as it unfolds. On me there`s not much leather – magnolia and tobacco and musk, then rose, it is hard to point out what I smell exactly cos there are so many notes flying around. .
Agent Provocateur totally surprises me, in a good way..Because nether PN nor AP are the type of scents I`d typically go for, but yet I do find them nice and interesting – maybe because you`d expect something sweet or fruity, and what you get is nothing of the sort..Feminine, spicy, complex, with a vintage vibe. Now there I said it..

My husband, former smoker, loves this scent. I’m still not sure. Still testing it. I’m not getting the florals.

I agree with many of my fellow Fragranticans on the total lack of ‘noir’ here, which is not a bad thing per se of course.
‘Petals’ however: sure, and lots of them; beautiful ones.
This is to my nose big on the osmanthus and especially ylang-ylang, making this a happy fragrance.
I don’t care much for age or sex in perfumery, but the personality of this perfume is feminine and elegant to me, confident but kind-hearted, cheerful -perhaps even bubbly- but in a subdued, rather demure way.
AP Pétale Noire is a well-balanced and rounded fragrance that does not reveal its very modest price tag.
    Classy? Definitely.
Having received it a couple of days ago after purchasing it blindly, I’m just not in the mood for it now. Maybe I will be; maybe I won’t. Right now, I’m more in the mood for a tougher cookie, but that doesn’t stop me from recognising a nice quality perfume when I smell it.

I get a white floral floral with this, I’m not picking out all the other notes that there are. Not great lasting power, really pretty bottle though.
I don’t get woody, or really much else than floral

How surprising! Upon receiving this kindly sent decant from fragrantican I was expecting maximum “like” or even ‘not sure’ impression. Notes seemed too good to be true and plenty “Agents” I dismissed in past, so among my three hundred of fragrances there was no any Agent so far. But I am surely will go for a big fancy bottle of Petale Noir.
This incredible variety of notes is not for show, they do exist. Blended in in warm sensual stages from florals to spices, from tobacco to soft leather, floral again and enveloping warmth of ylang… I am sold, love how dramatic and intimate notes wrapped into soft clean ones, creating one whole picture of sensual time for two. Addictive and charming. Most similar with Artisans Papillons, yet with more interesting transitions and story. Thanks, Barbara!

This was a blind buy for me and at the first spray I hated it. Very spicy and indeed (as some reviews state) a bit masculine. I was surely going to sell it or give it away, but then I smelled my sweater a few days later and thought wow! What’s that intriguing scent?
Turns out it was Petale Noir and I’m actually starting to like it more and more.
It’s definitely an extraordinary scent, and something that maybe has to grow on you, like it did for me! I would say it’s almost ‘somewhat’ unisex, but better worn by a woman.
It’s not the best I’ve ever smelled, but certainly pleasant and outstanding.

  17. :

So very old school but simultaneously modern at the same time.
The use of magnolia as a star note in this composition makes it very unique. It smells old, the oakmoss and leather are there, the ylang-ylang and musk all make it somewhat of a vintage throwback. But you also have aquatic airy florals that lift this fragrance and make it accessible to almost anyone of any generation.
It’s one for the floral lovers. I find it almost like a novelty product of sorts. A vintage smelling perfume for those who can’t wear vintages. Very feminine and put together.
However, not really for me. Maybe if I found a bottle for a steal, but it’s not my thing. Awesome silliage and longevity, 9+ hours with this one.

I almost bought this one blind, intrigued by the brand, bottle and reviews, but luckily I saw a tester in another store just in time! This immediately turned totally ashtray on my skin, YUCK!! No flowers to be found. So I suggest try before you buy!

I don’t normally gravitate towards florals but this is a beautiful, dewy bouquet of flowers in fragrance form. Even though there is nothing classically dark about it I can see where the “noir” comes from, there is nothing carefree about this. It is deep, serious and almost a bit boozy, carnal if you put your mind to it. Very nice.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

This slightly reminds me of My Burberry but there is something a little sharp and reminiscent of aldehydes here that I don’t like. I would prefer Valentino Donna as it is softer and sweeter if I wanted to wear a rose/floral leather scent. It seems to be turning a bit soapy on me and I never like that. This one is really not for me.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

A big, dense floral bouquet with a bit of something interesting underneath. I was amazed when I looked at the notes – holy crap, there’s so much going on! From the notes it seems like it should be a more interesting fragrance than it is (for instance, I’m not really getting much tobacco, leather, or oakmoss). Not that I dislike it – it’s a big, beautiful floral bouquet, smacking you straight in the face. I can definitely pick up the references to Cabochard, though, but it’s quite toned down. I’d say this is good year round fragrance (except for summer – it’s a bit too cloying for hot, humid weather). Longevity is pretty underwhelming; this fades pretty dramatically within a couple of hours. If you prefer fragrances that are more challenging, don’t get this. At the same time, this isn’t for someone who wants something tame; it’s waaaaay too big for that. This is a great, big, unabashed feminine fragrance.

  23. :

Nothing “noir” here. I get no spices at all. Just linear typical generic floral. A safe fragrance, but nothing extraordinary at all.

  24. :

    3 out of 5

It is not a bad fragrance especially for the price though there is nothing ‘noir’ about it. It’s a pleasant, linear and feminine floral scent but not anything special. Will be good for the office or a casual day out. Magnolia is the main note and the base is strong synthetic amber.
An interesting thing about this fragrance is that it does not have a trail even though it smells quite strong close (I tested it on my daughter). I’d say this fragrance smells more elegant if you splash it rather then spray it. The longevity is about 6 hours on me. Would suit a wide range of ages and styles

I didn’t think that I would find a fragrance from Agent Provocateur that I at least liked. Usually after researching any designer, I will at least find one that I at least a like. I tried 4 from AP before trying one last one……Petale Noir. This is an amazing fragrance on me. Surprised……..most definitely! The combination of notes is unusual at best. Not only do I enjoy wearing this, I enjoy the beautiful bottle too. That is a silly reason to like a fragrance, but it doesn’t hurt to add to the experience! I am surprised at the people that truly hate this one. I guess it something that needs a test before buying blind. Good luck!!

I’ve decided it’s time to do more reviews on some long-loved fragrances.
This is a lady. She is a lady with total confidence, and while she is refined, she is not shy. She will hold her own in any discussion, but will opt out once the argument becomes emotional. She simply has no interest in emotional banter.
She has a bite to her when it is needed, but does not use it to hurt, only to keep perspective in order. She is confident in every situation, but is not necessarily most comfortable. She thrives with her books and her art. She is hungry for stimulating conversation. She dislikes social pretense and fashion of the day, yet she carries herself with timeless style.
    I love this scent.
For the first hour or so, it is a spicy floral with the rose and patchouli dominating. The range of distinct floral notes in this scent reveal themselves beautifully as it develops.
After about an hour, I get the rose, LOV (which is not a favorite note, but here it is done well), hyacinth, musk, patchouli, and a bit of leather. This is feminine and sexy. It is suitable for daytime (as I chose to wear it today), but WILL be detected. I put 4 sprays on (a lot for my regular routine), and it has no intention of letting up 6 hours later.
This is such a lovely scent. Certainly it is more suitable for colder seasons, but I have every intention of enjoying my decant when I am in Haiti. It’s a pleasantly warm (not hot) day today, and this is radiating nicely.
Not sure why it posted twice… once as a guest? Oh well!

I blind bought petal noir about 4 months ago and not knowing what to expect i was really intrigued by it, i liked it but couldn’t figure out when i could wear it. It was completely different from the perfumes i was used to wearing (i was new to the vast world of fragrances apart from fruity florals:)). Every day i would spray some on my hand and immediatly could smell aldehydes, magnolia and leather. Soon the tabacco would come out. It’s very dewy, modern chypre style but feels a little vintage. Very unique. Eventually i swapped it away and months later found myself craving this perfume, craving all the notes, the dewy sweetness of the florals with the dark leather and tobacco, . I’ve sampled many perfumes of every kind since then and still proclaim that petal noir is beautiful, unique, strange and addictive. I do find it “noir” i bought this beauty again and will hold onto it tightly and wear it worth confidence. It’s very long lasting on me and sillage is wonderful. Dewy, dark, sweet, chypre floral, major leather and tobacco notes all beautifully blended, it’s now one of my favorites. I also have l’agent and agree that they are similar in dna, you can smell that they are sisters.

Hmmm… I blind bought this one based on reviews! I’m not sure what to think of it right now, but I know I “like” it. It intrigues me enough to keep testing. Although, I’m not getting any of the “dark” and “mysterious” vibes other people have mentioned… so far I smell a definite floral scent with a little bit of freshness, I also smell a hint of spice, possibly ginger or tobacco leaf? Kinda odd. Will update when I’ve “bonded” with this fragrance more!
Edit: I’m sorry to say but this did not live up to my expectations. I was expecting a sultry and lush floral scent with some patchouli & tobacco, but all I get is a strange “cleaning product” floral with a hint of mustard? Perhaps my nose is just too immature to appreciate this, or perhaps it’s my body chemistry. I don’t hate it, but it’s not one that I’ll go for often. Luckily I only paid $17 for a tester… so it wasn’t that bad of a loss. Anywhoo I’ll be sharing this with my mother, because I think it’s more suitable for a more mature person – but that’s just my opinion. Also… the longevity is very poor. 🙁
However, I do believe in second chances. Maybe this is better suited for Fall?

  29. :

It is very well-named. Petale (flower) noir (black). You will get vague flower, but certainly patchouli, leather, tobacco; those three notes cover all other ones. . I cannot stand it. This is strong, dark.

Well, if you’ve ever wished you could smell like a used car sprayed down heavily with a “new car smell” this is the scent for you. Lingering cigarettes, fast food, cheap sweet cologne and the bizarre cleaner they use in cars at cheap car lots. No credit? No problem!

I blind bought this, and when I first prayed it on, the leathery smell was just so weird and funky to me. But i smelled it once it dried down and it’s so amazing! So light and pretty. Like flowery and a little bit aquatic.

This perfume is like an early morning in woodland during a spring time… Its very musky, woody and green . There is lots of flowers as well but only noticeable after spraying .Its definitely a sexy fragrance for daytime , very long lasting , Agent Provocateur make the most unique scents ever , and Petale Noir is surely one of a kind…

  33. :

Is a heavenly wet floral leather. It’s like sex in a magical garden on a spring day just after it’s rained and it’s all misty and everything smells clean and green and fresh and floral and yet somehow it’s not soapy or innocent, it’s petal pink lingerie with nothing virginal about it.
It’s a dark carnal floral, elements that shouldn’t work together but do.

This is enchanting! Uber feminine floral with personality and flair. It makes me happy to wear it and get whiffs of it during the day. All the notes perfectly blended, not to overwhelm but to enhance the person wearing it. Just delightful!

Wow this fragrance has every flower I like so you know I’m all over this. Beautiful flowers. Magnolia, lotus, violet, rose, heliotrope and lily of the valley. This is a super floral fragrance but it’s designed not to be too heavy or too old lady ish. It does have great longevity and sillage but it’s not a heavy hitter. It opens with mandarin orange citrus and turns flowery like the most luxurious floral bouquet. The development of this perfume is amazing. As the fragrance begins to dry down I smell something darker, smokier, probably the tobacco leaves. There’s also patchouli and woods, oak moss, ingredients typical of a chypre. This part of the fragrance is more unisex but it’s still beautiful. I love the bottle and the fragrance fills my head. Love it.

Fragrance Review For Petale Noir Agent Provocateur
Top Notes: Lotus, magnolia, violet leaf, hyacinth, mandarin orange bergamot
Middle notes: Rose, ylang-ylang, neroli, heliotrope, osmanthus, orris root, lily-of-the-valley
Base Notes: Leather, ginger, amber, tobacco leaf, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, cedar, labdanum, musk benzoin.
Once again Agent Provocateur has enchanted me. I love their debut frag Agent Provocateur and their L’Agent. This frag has more in common with L’Agent in that it is a smoky dense incense type of perfume. There is no incense note but there is, in the form of benzoin which is a deep, aromatic creamy sort of smoky incense. The patchouli is also serving as incense here. The sandalwood smells great and the woodsy notes of cedar and the amber is lovely. The leather and tobacco note stand out. So the dry down is what is most memorable to me but it’s very much a woman’s perfume because of all the flowers. There is as much flowers as there is wood. I can smell the lotus and magnolia as being the strongest floral accords followed by violet and heliotrope. A unisex fragrance of smoky florals. Seductive, fragrant, romantic, alluring. Gorgeous.

I appreciate how Agent Provocateur consistently releases fragrances that align with their brand – Petale Noir fits right in. The AP fragrances and lingerie/nightwear/clothing/etc. seem like they would pair perfectly together, creating a complete look and feel for the consumer. Though the fragrances all differ, if one sniffs the lot of them they’ll notice a definite signature style throughout. It is quite satisfying.
Petale Noir is a retro style floral with a modern twist, immediately presenting a “good good girl/bad girl” vibe. There is nothing “noir” about this scent, but the blush color of the bottle and packaging suits the scent well. The opening is my favorite stage of Petale Noir – multifaceted, distinctive and “expensive” smelling. In this stage Petale Noir is aquatic, like dew drops on petals, and while magnolia dominates, leather adds zip and “sex”, and powdery florals and resins add detectable roundness.
As this fragrance dries down is starts to feel greasy. Muget and hyacinth ARE “greasy” notes (I love them in chypres from the late 60’s and 70’s), but here, mixed with other sweet, waxy florals and a super-sweet version of “amber”, Petale Noir ends up losing the dimension it possessed in the beginning. Despite all the sticky floral sweetness, there is a hint of sultry smoke present, which adds character and keeps it on point with the Agent Provocateur brand recognition.
Sometimes my skin can pull the “funk” from a fragrance – I bet Petale Noir would smell far more beautiful on someone else. Great longevity.

Love at first sniff!!! this is really special and last forever intriguing me because l can smell it around me all the time. In the same family of Chloe love .They smell different but I feel in the same mode wearing them. The name is dark petal but for me is not dark is deep spicy ,maybe the sexy ,dark side of magnolia . RETRO vibe ,but in the same time modern and seductive .White flower, green, soapy vibe with spicy leather . Powerful ,bomb sillage and longevity. If you love retro smells don’t miss it …is a hidden gem…love

    Quite a petal here!
Usually I’m not a big fan of florals, especially white florals… but this one is intriguing.
First of all, it’s not overly sweet! In fact, it starts a little sharp, due to leather notes i would think. Then it subsides to flowers, mostly i detect magnolia, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, and something that I’m not quite sure how to identify.. decaying flowers maybe. Is it called indole? Believe me, as strange as it sounds – it is very pleasant! The notes tell you it’s going to be a bomb, but it’s not! Floral perfume with a twist – that’s what it is 🙂
Have you ever walked in the midst of a tropical forest? When i close my eyes and smell Petale Noir, I find myself in this really humid, almost damp forest, so dense and therefore dark. Thickness of the air catches vapour from plants and earth, exotic flowers and tree roots, and most importantly – body heat. Some sultry tropical forest…

This is a strange fragrance, I like it but I don’t. Petal Noire is very much like the original AP but has more of a floral base.
The opening is very harsh, plasticine and cold tobacco pipe. I really do not like the leather and tobacco notes. Makes me think of Gumby…
Once the florals warm up and push their way past the harsh notes it is a very pleasant fragrance but always there is that plasticine smell in the background.
The only way I can make this wearable is by layering it with something to sweeten up those harsh notes. Agent Provocateur Eau Emotionnelle really smooths out the rough edges and makes this a lovely fragrance which is probably what they should have made it smell like in the first place.
So not a total waste but I would not repurchase.

I tested this perfume about a year or two ago and I loved it then. Then I found it very floral, sexy with a cheeky twist. Now that I have acquired a bottle, I really appreciate that I can smell all the different notes listed. The blending is such masterfully done and I think the notes compliment each other beautifully. The ‘noir’ part of this I assume is the leather which gives it an edge. Longevity &Sillage are above average on my skin. Very good one from the line.

I strongly disliked this perfume! Too much going on that I don’t like and not enough that I do. the florals and citrus were drowned by powder and tobacco.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

Gorgeous little bottle ( 50ml ) with a scent that smells extremely sofisticated in a perfumey kind of way. The notes are so well blended , it’s hard to tell them apart. In a way it reminds me of both Kelly Caleche le perfume and Chanel Coco , as if those were skilfully combined into this elegant , classy, sexy yet mature scent . It seems not to match the playful pink bottle with swirls of flowers on it, I could have seen this scent in a darker , more gothic bottle. Despite all this complexity the scent retains a joyful and young note without any sugar. Worth every penny if you like a fragrance that really smells like perfume .

This has the “Agent Provocateur signature vibe” all over it! Petale Noir is a perfect AP fragrance for spring and summer (I also have L’Agent in my collection and that one is definitely for fall/winter).
On me Petale Noir is a strong layer of bright florals “levitating” on an earthy base (leather, tobacco, woods, a little bit of spice). PN is naughty for sure, but there’s an airy quality to it. It feels different every time I take a closer sniff. The basenotes seem to take turns in dominating this scent. All in all, it’s very feminine and quite interesting. It probably shines in warm weather.
    Satisfactory longevity and moderate sillage.

I don’t want to get into a debate or anything but in terms of the model as other people have commented on, I personally think she seems to look skinnier than she actually is because of the way she’s laying, that’s all I’m going to say about that.
About the fragrance. I blind bought this, and oh my goodness I’m so glad that I did! I bought it from a shop having a really good sale but they didn’t have any testers, however I’d seen some reviews and I thought it was probably something I’d like and I was right!
On first spray it’s a bit interesting, quite sharp and peppery but once it settles the florals come out. I definitely smell the leather but I really like that quality. And I smell the woods.. The floral part smells quite powdery and the whole lot together just really gels well, I really love it.
My only qualm is that I only have a 30ml bottle.. gonna need a bigger one…

Yeah, because the modelling industry is FAMOUS for not caring what women look like AT ALL and they always strive for healthy, natural bodies!
Come on. Ads like this contribute to girls thinking this is what the norm looks like.
Most models do starve themselves, so don’t you dare call me nasty and rude. This is a model, not an average woman whose appearance doesn’t affect beauty norms. You’re being incredibly naive.
And I never said she was ugly. Being that thin is hardly healthy. That’s what the problem is here. I know naturally skinny people. They don’t look like that.

I sense it as leathery. Very strongly leathery scent. There’s also many other notes, so many, that my nose can’t separate them. A little too masculine smelling for my taste, I like sweet and light things.
Some people could wear it out very well being elegant and alluring, but that’s not how I feel about it.

I think its very nasty and rude to comment on someones weight. The model might be naturally thin? Maybe its hard for her tp gain weight? Its funny how its ok to comment on someone being too thin but if you comment on someone being fat your the worst person in the world. The model looks lovely to me 🙂

This has a strong bubblebathy Magnolia note.
It’s structurally similar to Jolie Madame, but with Magnolia instead of violet. If you don’t like that weird, watery Magnolia note, you won’t like this – it lasts most of the way through.
The drydown is pretty standard patch & vetiver with almost a bit of that burnished edge that comes from saffron. I get no moss.
    But again, the Magnolia.

    I know this isn’t a review, but….

    Love this.
Smelt sooo good I thought people were looking at me.
Can only describe it as expensive smelling. summer holiday. Sexy Italian lady.
Sort of a very sexy, evening, 4711 mixed with white florals.
If you smell it, you will know what I mean.

I have discovered that for me, this is a warm weather scent!!! It was winter when I bought the bottle, and I wasn’t too impressed with this “blind buy.” It was merely ok. Now that I am trying to pare down my collection, I retested it the other day and discovered how lovely it really is!
It is possible that the flowery opening of the scent on my skin makes it feel more suitable for warmer temps than my usual “heavy hitters” that are my cold weather favorites.

Aha! I thought there might be tobacco or leather here, and turns out there is BOTH!
A soft and appealing modern floral, with a distinct ‘Cabochard’ undertone. More mild mannered than your typical vintage leather, and yet quite reminiscent.
DO TRY if you long to wear the vintage vixens but find them a bit much. Petale Noir could be your next success story!

I bought a sample this sniffee. I have other AP fragrances but they just seemed off so I have never bought a full size.
That is..until now. It’s a floral mishmash that works. I can tell that it could be overused bomb but I applied it lightly.
I smell six hours later on my wrist so it does have some longevity.

It smells like nothing I have smelled so far and for me this is already a very good point.
It opens with a moltitude of different notes.
So many notes that you are a bit intimidated.
    Yes, but not for long.
After the initial fireworks, the citrus and flowers settle down. Magnolia and rose exhausted, set to rest.
This is the time when you smell all the woods and balsams: sandalwood, vetyver, patchouli and a nice touch of tobacco and leather.
Some may find this composition a bit confusing, true.
I suppose it’s more of an acquired taste and I think this is a scent you should wear and try a little bit.
Anyway, very good lasting power, excellent projection, maybe not a monument but
    GOOD.

This was a blind buy- I love florientals, but hadn’t thought about what leather would be like in one. So of course, the second I saw the notes in Petale Noir, I had to buy and try!
On my skin this is surprisingly demure, with a true leather note at the base that is both restrained and sexy. PN opens with a strong magnolia/hyacinth accord. I get ginger, vetiver, and labdenum in the heart, and t
