Description

Star anise, together with sweet and fresh bergamot, opens the composition of “Perry Ellis m” perfume, that was introduced in 2004. The composition proceeds with notes of cinnamon peel, balm, lily and sage. Warm and powdery trace is felt at the base, thanks to vanilla, bright musk, Tonka Bean, cashmere tree and vetiver. The bottle design follows female f perfume, launched in pair with “Perry Ellis m“.

Autumn and Christmas in a bottle! I would put this one in the same category of fragrances such as Burberry London and Spicebomb. The Allure Homme comparison is spot on, but only in the beginning of the scent stage; M is really it’s own fragrance. M is very prominent in the cinnamon and star anise; I also can detect a little tobacco in the background. I’m glad to be able to pull this fragrance back out again.

A nice cinnamon spiced vanilla. This is what I’d hoped Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium had smelled like. I smell the cinnamon and it’s a bit spicy for my tastes at first but then dries down to a very pleasant, pleasing, softly spiced vanilla. Where Opium also opens way too harsh and stays that way for an unpleasant hour, this ones settles quickly to a nice scent. And that’s a big deal. Opium is such a mess for an hour that I have given up on it. If a fragrance is going to open harsh, it needs to settle quickly for me or I’ll punt it.
I know someone is going to let out a blood -curdling cry about this being nothing like Opium. Bear with me, I’m not familiar with a 1000 different fragrances so my reference point for a spicy vanilla is Opium and this, Perry Ellis M. That’s all I have in the way of comparison for this mix of notes and I own both. Well, until I sell my Opium minus 6 sprays (all I could stomach) on eBay. Of the two, I’ll take M any day. Opium, to me, is 80’s women’s perfume ratcheted up to a 10 on the cloying scale with a nice dry down an hour later. M starts presenting a pleasant vanilla after 10-15 minutes. M does spicy vanilla quite well and I think it wil really shine in the colder months. So, no, they shouldn’t be compared as being similar scents but in being similar because both try to be spicy vanilla. M just does a good job of it.
Found this at Ross for $14.99. At that price, I think it’s punching way above it’s price class and is a tremendous value.

At first spray starts off a bit spicy and peppery, dries down quickly to something close to beautiful. Really outstanding scent here. This scent is blended very well, another gem from Mr Ellis.

No offense but this is absolutely repulsive. Smells like a custard! And not in a good way. In what world is this “seductive” and “sophisticated”. I am so glad I decided to test instead of blind buying.

I get alot of vanilla and cinnamon and Tonka, this smells great but I only tested it in store the projection was bad and the scent nice like I said but I don’t think it’s worth a buy, perhaps if you are just getting into fragrances collection but there are so many other great scents to buy and wear. His is a great office scent though. IMO not bottle worthy.

One of the best cheap fragrances ever, that is rather simple, but somehow enticing.
Often compared to allure homme for a reason.
A nice aromatic vanilla fragrance that smells classy and is a shocking deal for the money.
I gave it away, since I wasn’t going to a wedding, Cocktail parties or outdoor holiday activities.
Great for the suit, Church, or music majors IMO .
4 hours longevity with poor projection and fair sillage.

    [batch 17290, bought through amazon]
It strongly reminds me of Montblanc Individuel
If I could “smell” it, I guess this perfume could be very pleasant…
8 squirts on my wrist and I can smell practically nothing unless my nose is stuck on my wrist (on a hot day as well too)
On dry-down I can smell sweet vanilla and cinnamon… clean laundry smell, I could see myself wearing this to church for example
I will edit this review as soon as I have worn it a few times… this review is written within 30 minutes of first applying this scent.
For the time being what do I have to say for my bottle?
    …shameful…!!!

I’d seen a few reviews on YouTube of this fragrance and also realized that I needed more fragrances to be an autumn scent. A*Men is typically my go to for when those earthy tones and season come about, so typically something gourmand and non-cloying sweetness.
What really interested me was the comparison with Chanel Allure Homme which I do enjoy, but find A*Men to get me more compliments and a bit more affordable. I came across this fragrance when out and about and going into a local Ross; $15. My concern was the anise note in the makeup of this juice.
First spray is very strong and I get a blast of cinnamon and anise note which the cinnamon did great in making the anise less cloying to me. It’s a strong top note composition and I don’t particularly like anise or licorice smells.
It starts to settle into the vanilla and tonka bean very well after some dry down. I can still catch hints of anise, but it is not as bad with the base notes coming in.
I’ve had it on for about 4 hours now and it is still projecting and is very smooth and sweet, but not cloying. Very much like this fragrance and is for sure in the autumn lineup for me. 8/10 for me!

It’s like the best aspects of a number of popular “masculines” were taken and blended with subtlety here. For example, I don’t get a clear vanilla note yet I think, there seems to be vanilla here – where is it? The result is an abstract and smooth composition that is very pleasant. And at least the drydown doesn’t come across as synthetic in any way. It’s the kind of scent I really like on a regular basis, whereas sometimes I don’t want to wear something with an obvious note (I’ve got a bunch of obvious vanillic and tonka scents, for example). The other PE masculine in a similar bottle is poorly composed, IMO, but this one is exactly what I was hoping it might be, but was quite surprised that it was!

Harsh synthetic opening, nice sweet (but not overly sweet) and spicy drydown. Girlfriend likes it. She’s not very picky though lol. She has only disliked ONE fragrance. Mont Blanc Individual.
Wow this drydown is great. Like La nuit and spicebomb.

Really not much too add after 007 Peter’s very detailed report on this. PEM gives off a nice, warm, vanilla/cinnamon vibe that really can’t be beat. it’s longevity is way beyond what one would expect at this price point and it gets its share of compliments. A winner in my book.

My girl friend found this at a thrift store and smelling it thought it was a women’s fragrance. However she looked it up and saw it was for men so she gifted me with it. I understand why she had come to her first impression, this stuff should be named “Girly” for “men”. This fragrance is all about a very feminine white musk, sweet vanilla and a touch of cinnamon and vetiver. This smells like a lady’s fragrance and has nothing masculine going on at all. If you are a classically dressed old school gentleman don’t ruin your clothing with this giggly, girly juice, instead send it off to the thrift store with alacrity.

I like to think of this one as my “dirty, spicy caramel”. I detect all the listed notes except the fir and bergamot. The tonka and vanilla create a pleasant sweetness that softens the cinnamon blast. Vanilla, tonka, cashmeran means this is a seductively soft scent (Visit for men is my other seductively soft scent currently in rotation, which is just slightly spicier than M because of nutmeg and pink pepper). The alchemy of all these sweet notes presents a syrupy fresh caramel scent, which gets a little roughed up by vetiver, anise, and musk. It’s not “wow that’s caramel!” but it does remind me of making fresh caramel or of the centers of box chocolates. This is very sweet like 1Million, and, no offense, far more complex and less reliant on cinnamon to maintain its allure.
From my novice understanding of the type categories, this fragrance sits at an interesting crossroads of balsamic, aromatic, and gourmand. I would not recommend a blind buy unless you regularly blind buy sweeter scents or have to have every cinnamon-vanilla there is. I got this in a lot and will more than likely finish it, but I would’ve been a little disappointed if I sought this out specifically, but then again cinnamon-vanilla are not a favorite accord of mine, though I consider it very nice to have this type of scent on hand. Update: this scent has really grown on me, and I reach for it more than any other winter frag because of the seductive caramel musk.
I’m getting great sillage for the first two hours but I can’t exactly comment on longevity because I keep layering it with so many other cool weather scents.

Huh.. Got it once again after 8 years and found myself i don’t like it anymore. The scent is no longer unique, no longer modern and seems to be outdated now. As for me there is another cheap alternative – Mary Kay High Intensity, that is a bit much modern, less powdery, much stronger and projective frag.

I have a bottle of Perry Ellis M but I don’t own APH which is similar to F Black that I have by reviewers. I hate the opening of PE M that I never actually get to smell the dry down. Gives me a fat headache. Yuck. I need to stop blind buying. F Black is nice though. A little peppery but the drydown is awesome. Very formal and manly. Question is, do I need a bottle of APH if I already own F Black?

  18. :

    3 out of 5

    This is an absurd value.
As mentioned below, it’s priced like a Cuba Paris offering, performs better than most of todays’ designer offerings, and in its family of gourmand cinnamon bombs it more than holds its own with anything coming out these days.
This one has a pretty strong (almost boozy) opening, but really settles nicely into a comfortable cinnamon-vanilla base. There’s enough grounding from the cashmere wood to maintain a masculine touch, but make no mistake, those who don’t like sweet scents in general won’t like it.
Very, very nice – I like to use my sweeter scents around the house and to evening gatherings with friends. I don’t wear scents for complements from others, but primarily to set my own mood or to enjoy scents I like – that being said, I do get a lot of complements wearing this one.
Update: I’m so glad to see Jeremy recommending this as a cheapie – a very well deserving frag, hope the exposure moves some more bottles.

Sexy smell. This is the smell of the drug dealer that is popular with all the girls back in 1995. He is wearing a Coogi sweater his hair is clean cut yet wavy from the wave cap and Murray’s pomade. He always wears Joop or tonite’s Perry M cologne. and u hop in his mini van the seats are plush and maroon. It is winter time and at night and Twista is playing in the radio. He has a “cigar” he is always clean and car is clean yet if he continues to try to live this designer lifestyle he will get caught but the Christmas tree air freshener dangles from the rearview mirror and you are just mesmerized by his swagger and cologne u pull up to the hotel with him.

MY fragrance! If I could pick one fragrance ot describe myself, it would be this!
This is a gorgeous scent from top to bottom. It starts with a soury/synthetic bergamot note, and within minutes transforms. Then it hits you over the head with the perfect blend of anise, cinnamon, and vanilla. So perfect.
It’s a perfect scent for pretty much any season or occasion, but it does the best on mild fall days, in my opinion.
For the price, you’d have a tough time finding a better fragrance.

This stuff is great. A soft round spiciness to this one. I definitely get the anise and cinnamon for sure a long with the tonka or vanilla that rounds it off and doesn’t leave it so sharp. Again I think this stuff is great, my only problem with it at all is the sprayer sucks, but this has been typical for me with the Perry Ellis fragrances.

Absolutely superb scent for the fall! And one of the best values on the market. I paid $13 shipped for a 3.4 tester on ebay. How can you beat that? I couldn’t be happier. I’ll admit my wife and I expected an average scent but this blows my mind. The composition and performance far exceeded our expectations. It does remind me a lot of Boss #6, they both share cinnamon, vanilla, and other notes related to the autumn season in New England. I’m not saying they smell exactly alike, because they don’t by any means. At the top they are similar, but in the middle and base notes they go in different directions, and I enjoy them both a lot. Basically if you like the following fragrances, chances are you’re going to love Perry Ellis M…. Boss #6, JHL by Aramis, Cinnabar, Witness by Jacques Bogart. All of those fragrances offer a similar vibe in a different way. And if you like those fragrances you can blind buy Perry Ellis M with confidence. I guarantee it!

I spray 2017 Chanel Allure Homme spray on my LEFT ARM
I spray 2017 Perry Ellis M spray on my RIGHT ARM
I smell them every 30 minutes. Here is my detail reports:
    【BAD NEWS】They don’t smell alike anymore 🙁
maybe in the past they did, but not in 2017 reformulation.
They OPEN differently, they Smell differently, they DRY differently
In summary: they’re a completely different fragrance now.
    【OPENING 1st 30 min】
[CHANEL] open with Strong Pungent Lemony Citrousy scent
Well blended, Strong but doesn’t over-powered the nose
Bright, Pungent, Beautiful, and yet smell Expensive
[PERRY] horrible opening with strong peppery kick (Anise?)
overly synthetic, overly powerful, turn my nose off completely
[Summary] Big Win for Chanel. Repeat: They DON’T SMELL
ALIKE! Not even close I’m afraid
    【After 30 min】
[CHANEL] Lemony Citrous faded into a → Woodsy GREEN
    (ceda, patchouli, vevitver) Beautiful Transition
[PERRY] Synthetic peppery kick is gone, Cinnamon makes its
soft debute. Frag takes on a gourmondish vibe
[Summery] still a Big Win for Chanel, both show Transition:
Chanel went from Lemony Citrous → Green Woody Frag
Perry M went from Synthetic mess → Cinnamon Spice
    【After 60 min】
[CHANEL] NOOOOOO! Smell is FADING into skin Scent
there is NO BASE, Once Opening & Mid show themselves,
the entire Frag is disappearing right before my eyes. I can
faintly smell it if I DIG MY NOSE against my wrist.
[PERRY] Cinnamon Spice melt with Sweet Vanilla + Tonka
Beans resulting in a very Strong Projecting Cinnamon Vanilla
After 1 hour, Perry M is now projecting stronger & sweeter
I ♥ this 3rd stage of Transition into Cinnamon Vanilla.
[Summary] Very Disappointing performance from Chanel
I feel the fragrance is GONE TOO SOON, not satisfied
PERRY M is surprisingly strong after 1hr. In fact, it shines
    【After 90 min】
[CHANEL] has completely disappear, in 1hr 15min
[PERRY] wow, still going strong with an inch Scent Circle
Perry Dry Down beautifully, Sweetness calm down nicely
Leaving a Warm, Spicy, semi-sweet Cinnamon that lingers
[Summary] BIG BIG WIN for Perry Ellis M in the end
    【Conclusion】
    • They do not smell alike
    • They do not perform alike
    • They are in fact completely different FRAG
CHANEL has 1 stage transition from Citrous → Woody
    PERRY enjoy 2 stage transitions:
    (1) Peppery Synthetic Mess → Cinnamon Spice
    (2) Cinnamon Spice → Sweet Cinnamon Vanilla
Perry M dried like a Gourmond, very nicely done
CHANEL is the FAST RABIT that win early, but
PERRY is the SLOW & STEADY TURTLE that won
the RACE. As much as I ♥ Channel Allure Homme:
    • PE(M) has better DRY DOWN
    • PE(M) has better PROJECTION
    • PE(M) has better LONGEVITY
    • PE(M) has better VALUE
My money goes to Perry Ellis (M)

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Just picked this up on may 1st.
After reading and viewing reviews i saw this at ross for 14.99$ and said “hell, why not”
This fragrance is a cross blend between allure and zino as previously mentioned. Nothing ground breaking. Just a good scent at a fair price. It’s a sharp cinnamon and vanilla musk fragrance. Barely any bergamot is present. Maybe for the first 2 mins. Hardly any vetiver. And tons of coumarin(tonka).
Not a bad fragrance for a cuddly scent. But there is no real depth or oomph to this edt.
Longevity and sillage are average at best.
But! At the this price point i would definitely choose this over jordan legend or any Cuba type fragrances.
Overall i would give this a 5.5 out of 10.
    Not good nor bad.

It is what it is – a cheaper version of Chanel Allure Homme! Whilst I was impressed initially with some of the similarities, there is something ‘cheap’ smelling about this one. Chanel fragrances have that signature note that makes them smell more sophisticated. Perry Ellis M definitely has a few ingredients missing and is quite heavy on the cinnamon and vanilla. I’m not saying that this is a bad fragrance – for the price it’s a steal! (Around £20.00 for 100ml on most websites). Performance is also quite good. If you’re on a budget I would definitely recommend this as an alternative, but if you can afford the “real deal” I would opt for Chanel Allure Homme.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I wanted to revisit this one again for a review. The more I wear this fragrance the more I am impressed with it for both quality and longevity. Truly… if you are telling us that this is no more than a skin scent, you either have a ph that destroys fragrances, or you didn’t really give it time in public to get a reasonable response. Nope… maybe it is not a heavy scent, but I am telling you it does project well… maybe even more noticeable than some of my other “heavy hitting sillage bombs of the 80’s”
Many people confuse projection with nose wrenching power, and that is not the case. Don’t believe me… just think of Shalimar. Shalimar can be wafted and sensed and anchored across a large room, but no one calls it a strong perfume. It’s pleasant and it makes you want to find out where it’s coming from.
To my knowledge, this does not have any tobacco note ingredients in it, but to me it has a very strong resemblance to a fine sweet pipe tobacco. Perhaps it is the same kind of vanilla that would be used in pipe tobacco. Also on the “late” dry-down it has a very strong kinship to the smell of obsession in it’s late dry-down. (I am talking about the original vintage obsession of the early 80’s)I contribute that to the spice combination. And honestly, looking at the ingredients listed I would even dare say that Obsession was the target competition in the creation of this fragrance. But to me this is a much better fragrance than Obsession ever was to me, especially any current version of it.
So when I want something pleasant and warm or inviting, I am reaching for this fragrance very often.
This is like GOLD in a bottle… a very poorly designed bottle. Especially the cap… what silliness. The juice inside deserves something much more spectacular in presentation. But then… who knows… we may not be able to buy it for under 20 dollars a bottle.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

    This one is lovely.
OK, so the sprayer sucks (as expected from a Perry Ellis fragrance) and the bottle is, uh, not exactly my thing, but the fragrance itself is much, much classier than the price tag would suggest.
The opening is a little harsh with all the star anise and cinnamon, but it’s got loads of character, and the vanilla in the drydown is oh, so beautiful. If you want “warm spicy,” you’ve got it right here.
Not at all a versatile fragrance season-to-season, but it’s acceptable during winter for any occasion. I find myself reaching for it before class, before work, before a night out…just great for this time of year. One of the best bangs for the buck in my collection.

    i have a decant Perry Ellis M.
after almost a week full wearing this is warm spicy frag that be used on summer nighttime.
the cinnamon so prominent through the life of the fragrance. add the sweetness vanila and tonka bean makes this fragrance almost gourmandish vibe.
    scent: 8
Longetivity: 5 (3hrs on my skin)
    projection: 4
    sillage: 4
    price: 9
i love this upon first sniff, but sadly the performance sucks, atleast for my skin

  31. :

    3 out of 5

First Impression: Perry Ellis M is another fragrance that instantly brought to mind an unusual comparison. This fragrance definitely has the vanilla, tonka, cinnamon, and anise as main contributors, but to me, there is an undeniable resemblance to the scent of Mennen Skinbracer Original aftershave. Which is probably the first scent I ever put on, as it was my Dads only fragrance growing up.So this definitely has the older gentleman vibe to it, and don’t be surprised if this scent takes you back in time, like it did with me.
Update: After about 20 minutes the resemblance to the Skinbracer fades a bit, which is a good thing.I liked the memories the opening provided, but what this dries down to, is much better as the vanilla, tonka, and cinnamon( the softer ceylon) are the stars. So far, another solid bang for your buck Perry Ellis frag.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

Yes, very much like Allure Homme by the great house of Chanel.
Though I do prefer this much more so, why?
    First off…..pricepoint, so much cheaper!
Second-darker, in my opinion, Allure has white flower notes like Jasmine, Gardenia and such along with peach making it not only softer but powdery.
Third: This is more masculine, Allure’s white flower, peach and coconut notes give it a feminine leaning.
Fourth; long lasting and great projection.
As I write this it is the middle of winter here in the northern hemisphere and such a great time of year for Perry Ellis’ M.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I’ve purchased enough fragrances on a blind buy and been on enough first dates to know that you never enter into either with any expectations or you’ll be sorely disappointed.
I had such high hopes for this one on this cold, blustery, gray morning; I expected to be enveloped in warm, vanilla, cinnamon goodness. But much to my dismay it performs like a preteen boy who has just discovered his manliness … it’s finished as soon as it begins!
I typically write positive reviews; I’m not one to bash fragrances because I understand that skin chemistry and climate both play huge roles in a scent’s performance. I also understand that a fragrance shouldn’t announce its presence in a room before the wearer arrives and fragrances are not formulated to last through a swim in the pool, a workout, and a shower. But on me this one literally disappears as quickly as hand sanitizer.
I’ve read and watched so many glowing reviews for this fragrance that I wanted to like it – I really did. But similar to some others that have reviewed this one, it just doesn’t perform for me whatsoever.
Oh Perry Ellis, you should stick to solving crimes!
Wait, maybe that’s Perry Mason or Perry the Platypus.
Nevertheless, as much as I wanted to sing the praises of this fragrance I just can’t.

  38. :

I purchased this when I first got into fragrances. I was looking for good affordable cheapies. It smells good but I wound uo loving uber masculine fragrances like Azzaro pour homme and Z14.
This is sweet and syrupy . feminine if you ask me..

  39. :

Steady on daynierds, you might just come across as a fragrance snob. I have seen a few threads now where you have been derogatory about fragrances being ‘cheap’ and ‘trash’.
Dayneirds, what you have to realize is, not all people have $100+ to go blowing on fragrances, people have to make ends meet and don’t have a lot of disposable income and buy the best which they can afford.
I suggest you take that into consideration, these scents you claim are cheap crap, are enjoyed by us mere mortals, who simply can’t afford to go blowing vast amounts of money on bottles.
You really need to be a little more considerate in my opinion and stop being so disrespectful.

I don’t know why, but every time I smell this it keeps reminding me of Calvin Klein Obsession. This has that very old 1990s winter warm smell that is very familiar.
Not bad, but nothing unique. It’s too familiar of a scent for me. This would be a good everyday fall/winter scent for general use, but it’s not one of those “use for special moments or events” cologne. Just everyday use cold weather use.
For the price it’s a good bargain scent, but nothing to brag about.
I don’t see the hype with this one. This scent has been done before, and it’s old

  42. :

    4 out of 5

I know this has been compared to Allure Pour Homme, and sadly I don’t even know what that scent is yet. But, I can say it reminds me of a softer Zino Davidoff. Dark, spicy, woody, sensual.
Not saying they are twins by any means, but maybe cousins. A softer cousin at that.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Guys, quick addendum to my previous review…
I’ve worn this one quite a bit since I got it a few months ago, and there’s one thing that kind of bothers me about it. On my skin, this stuff begins to radically degrade after a couple of hours into a smell that I can only describe as an oppressive fog.
In fact, I can describe what it smells like EXACTLY…
When I was in grade school, I was invited to a birthday party at a popular laser tag arcade in our city. The 8 of us split up into 2 teams and played 2 rounds inside a mist-covered maze. That weird fake mist is EXACTLY what this dry-down smells like on me. And I mean EXACTLY. In the hot summer, it completely saturates my senses with this old-closet-like din that makes me think of a 200 year old person. Anyone else?
Whatever. I don’t regret blind buying this juice even if it’s just for the first 2 hours. It’s cheap and worth a go if you need something dispensable for an intimate setting. It could also make a great gift. I hope that helps.

One of many good Perry Ellis fragrances. Not necessarily my favorite… But a very nice casual scent. To me ..When I wear this.. I smell like a vanilla Coke … I mean.. Who can hate smelling like vanilla Coke?? lol . Average perfomance overall. 7/10

for me I get cinnamon, vanilla, and vetiver mixed in a good way.
The bottle design is really bad, it is difficult to open the cap.
    Good longevity and projection.
When comparing the smell and performance to the price, it is a good purchase.
Overall I do recommend this one.

Blind buy, cheap as chips, first impression: pleasant, mature-ish nutcream, matron. Whoever designed the bottle should be arrested for crimes against people who can see. A little sexy, friendly sexy perhaps, scent-with-benefits, casual.

Perry Ellis M smells like sex. It’s a very sensual scent that takes you to the bedroom under the sheets. It’s very arousing and very pleasurable. Longevity and sillage to me is just average, lasting only 3-5 hours and moderate projection. This is one that I would buy again. 8/10

This is a recent acquisition, after contemplating all of the excellent reviews here and on YouTube.
The reviews are spot on. It’s a sweet, delicious cinnamon vanilla creation that’s very pleasant in sporadic doses. However, BE CAREFUL not to spray this on your chest since it will give you a headache after a few hours.
If you want to know what the dry-down smells like, go to walmart and pick up a $3 bottle of Original Skin Bracer (green). Put a dab on your wrist and give it 20 minutes. For those that have “M” already, give this a try. The smell is so close that you will laugh. Is this fragrance still worth the money? YES. YES. Oh God YES.
Imagine: Sensual sex in Paris lasting many hours.
Think: Sweet, Refined, Delcious, European, Attractive
Overall: 8/10 – buy it if you want women near you.

I got this in a swap. Its not a bad smelling fragrance.. I guess I can see the comparison to allure homme a little bit. Not exactly the same but has that creamy woody element about it that is in a similar genre. Perry M is a masculine smelling fragrance that has spice with a little sweetness, almost a nutty creamy sweetness. It is a little generic and synthetic smellin and it also reminds me a little of ed hardy man with that creamy, kind of masculine thing going on… Overall I kind of dig this scent. It does have an addictive smell about it even thought it can come off synthetic. Wasn’t super impressed at first, but I grew to like this one.
    Scent- 4/5
Longevity- 3.5/5 possibly 4 at times
    projection- 3.5/5
    Overall for price etc. 4/5

Perry Ellis M will soon be retired for the season. It is a bowl of grits.
A few years ago there was a well regarded youtube reviewer who claimed this was a lady killer and started a very short lived hype train around this fragrance. Others on these boards have reviewed it well. I wont.
M has a hard to open cap and you have to hold the silver rim and pull the plastic cap, or you can wreck your bottle. It doesnt look as good and tower like and elegant as the other Perrys. It starts out with a decent cashmere wood with some cinnamon and then dries to a bland vanilla over 6 hours. I hear lots of people claiming compliments but I’ve worn it in public frequently without a single one from anybody.
Performance wise, I get about 5 to 6 hours. It is a designer scent but short changes expectations and gives me performance that I would expect from a fragrance of celebrity quality. I hit the bottle for about 3 extra sprays and usually reapply it with booster sprays during the day. I spray it on clothes and it still dies.
Usage wise, I was excited a couple of years ago when I first bought it like I often am when fragrances arrive and I wore it a lot in its purchase beginning period of life and then usage patterns started to trickle down to a far lower pace of pulls. I did double digit wears this season but will admit half of them were gee I want to use this up and get value from the product rather than a preferred fragrance choice. A person could wear this in spring and summer but I have no desire to do so. I will not be purchasing a backup bottle. And when the bottle hits 50%, I will retire it to the memory shelf and most likely declare fair value victory and call it good except for the occasional memory use.
Overall, I am going to grade this one out at 65. It gets a solid D and a passing grade but is below aver
