First official review on Fragrantica. Never experienced a fragrance before like this one; I went from saying “Uggh way too much musky fig, don’t know if I’ll want to wear this again!” to 3 hours later, “Wow, this scent is amazing.” Everything I wanted Le Labo The Noir 29 to be, but sadly wasn’t….(that one was a huge let down from personal experience). I find this to be in the same vein as B. Balenciaga Balenciaga, so if you are a fan of that one I would highly recommend Mancera Pearl.

On a cool day, I get a green blooming leaf on a warm sea breeze, which ends in a peachy-peach that is sweet but not sugary. There is a note that is almost salty, which crisps up the perfume before it settles into a very soft, rosy musk. On hotter days, I can smell flashes of a green apple and the fig becomes clearer and more forceful presence. When the fig deigns to appear, this changes the silage of Pearl and makes the perfume into a heavier, more dramatic scent. What is impressive about Mancera is the range within each perfume they create. Depending on the day, the temperature, and the humidity, you get a different face of the arrangement of Pearl and each face is beautiful and dramatic in its own way.

This is my first Mancera purchase, but surely not my last. I have aoud blue notes, aoud lemon mint, Wild fruits, red tobacco,& black vanilla all on my radar.. I am thoroughly pleased and impressed with Mancera so far.. Never have I loved so many selections from one house at first sniff..Now to the fragrance!! First off I’m a masculine male and always feel a little funny about a fragrance geared towards women.. I had no idea that this wasn’t unisex initially, until I looked it up here on fragrantica.. I was just sampling them all and fell in love with the clean/fresh powdery peach that lasted on my skin for 12 plus hours!! I’m sure at some point they will relist as unisex . It does have an awkward opening I must confess, a very stringent white floral type of blast.. However after like a half hour this thing powers down and develops into the fragrance version of a Bellini (peach liqueur/ champagne) for those that live under a rock..It just lasts and lasts, with this fresh powdery but ever so subtle peach bubble around you!! I wear this on summer nights, but it would be perfect for all day use in the spring for any casual occasions.. Mancera is truly a powerhouse of a house so if you love to smell as good as I do its a must to experience..Most of these are blind buy worthy IMO just check to see which notes suit you.. I give this frag a strong 9 in all categories!! How do I fell about it overall? JUST PEACHY!!!

The opening started off nice and bright with pear and fig, however, it fell apart in less than five minutes on my skin. It turned into some mess that is indescribable. This one must be tried on skin first.

On my skin its like L’Artisan’ Caligna. Here I feel a bit more fig though.

I adore this perfume!! I crave the scent. I don’t find it forgettable at all. On my skin it is a salty, sweet, fig with Jasmine and bergamot. The ambroxan is savory! This perfume has a character that is hard to describe that I’ve never experienced in a perfume before. It has a grainy smell…. I hope that makes sense. You know how a pear feels , the skin And flesh has The juicy grainy texture.. well I get that same feeling in this perfume and I love it. The dry down is a sweet musk and creamy violet. I feel amazing wearing this and of course the longevity is outstanding! Sillage is a nice fragrant bubble floating around me all day. Imo it’s bordering on gourmand ! My husband came home from work and I was wearing pearl, he hugged me and said. “Ooh you smell delicious!” . I only have a sample but I definatly will be buying a full bottle. It’s flirty, sexy and fun. It also feels classy and it layers great with Modern muse (if you like layering).

Summer fragrance without a splitting character. Good but forgettable.

To be honest, I was very skeptical when I got a sample of Pearl. According to the official description, it is the polar opposite of my fragrance preferences. However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised!
On me, fig is the most prominent note of Pearl. It is present from the beginning till the end (this is a relatively linear scent). The fig gets support from florals, mainly jasmine, and they add a bit of “muscle” and dirtiness (nothing outrageous, though) into the composition. Pearl is simultaneously airy and heavy. It’s sweet in a zesty way. The apple is probably a significant contributor to the zestiness. In my opinion, the force of this fragrance comes specifically from the flowers, not the base, which appears to be mostly musk.
I’d describe it as an intensely green floral. Pearl is very elegant, but not pompous. I’m not sure if I’m sophisticated enough to pull it off, but I actually like it and I’d definitely wear it in spring and summer (moderately warm temps) if a bottle was mysteriously delivered to my doorstep. I don’t think I love it enough to buy a full bottle, but I like it much more than I anticipated.
Lasts long and projects well (bordering heavy in the beginning, turning into a very sufficient moderate during wear). The high quality is evident. Definitely worth checking out if you like fig and/or florals with a strong green vibe!

The notes aren’t right. Fragrantica can you please update according to Mancera website.
balto – :
Wow, guys! Come on.
Many new or inexperienced perfumistas vote for notes out of good faith and do not mean to mislead anyone by doing so. Maybe they believe ambergris to be the same as amber and vote for notes based on this belief (a very common misconception on Fragrantica btw). What kind of place would this be if you get punished by admin for not voting for all the correct notes in the correct order!!? Like, seriously. As if admin would be spying on everyone’s “voting” activity at all time and then slap people on the wrist whenever they get it wrong. This is how they use to teach children in Catholic schools and believe me, it’s not a good system for people to learn and grow and enjoy their hobby.
Not everyone is a troll. This is a community. Let’s embrace everyone’s contribution to it. Note pyramids are very often wrong but keep in mind you’re not paying for this site and the people listing notes are only human. If you’re going to blind buy based on Fragrantica, it’s your problem. Do more research first. And mostly, it’s not a matter of life and death. Merry Christmas everyone!

corkscrewcurly, I agree with you completely! Some people have no idea, what they’re voting for!!! There are lots of mistakes in the notes of some perfumes on fragrantica (for example in description of Sensations by JIL SANDER). Noone corrects them and people vote for not existing dominant notes!
