I used to dislike patchouli for such a long time but now I’m growing to like it
When I first sprayed esteban patchouli I didn’t like it.I can’t really describe why but I could feel that patchouli has a sharp, green and juicy quality
But after some time,it dries down to a woody patchouli, dark but not dirty, blended with a peppery, fruity rose and a dash of powder..in this stage it’s very elegant and lovely and finally I could understand comparisons to dior midnight poison..there are similarities but they aren’t dupes
Longevity is great and sillage is impressive too
I can see it as a elegant, mature and a tad darkish feminine scent but I also think it’s wearable by men too

its patchulie alright.. with alot of gum resin or mastic ..its almost masculine ..clean.. patchulie.. not the dirty earthy type.. its not velvety smooth.. its a screechy patchulie initially ..its dry crisp. .takes time to develop and mellow down ..its a beautiful..a full perfume that lacks something.. its great for layering..its very pungent.. use with caution on an empty stomach ..or in the morning when your sense of smell is at its highest..
a powerful smell me from a mile type of perfume ..that will fill half a room ..it turns inscnsy..almost bakhour like.. and maybe it has some labednaum or myrrh defenetly resinous..it settles down better than when t s first applied..a layering tool.. an ideal perfume for middle eastern people who love to wear big fragrances for both genders ..it doesn’t disappoint ..it holds its air space..perfect for layering or using with bakhour it will last and hold on to clothes for days
found it at bloomingdales for about 100 us $ for a 50 ml edp
the entire line is intriguing with so many different orientals and florientals more or less with the same vibe and intensity ..i wish i can have them all for layering some good stuff
i liked the ones that came in 2008 in the golden bottles all 3 were relay nice

My experience is exactly the opposite of the previous one here. What i see as Esteban Patchouli is not a classical earthy and dirty patchouli of dark gourmand nuances. In fact, if it wasn’t called patchouli i wouldn’t have thought about the note, mainly because what i get for a considerable time on my skin is blast of peppers, more pink than black one, which makes the peppery impression goes more in the sweet and salty direction than the incensed one. After the peppers in notice the iris giving its aroma, very dry and earthy, but different from the earthy patchouli aroma. After that, the scent finishes in a quite indistinct base, sweet and woody but which doesn’t remind of anything in particular, specially patchouli. It’s lovely if you like peppers, of course, but i have trouble seing it as a patchouli scent.

I discovered this fragrance through Fragrantica and after reading the wonderful reviews I ordered it online right away. To my nose Patchouli by Esteban is a very smooth patchouli dashed with pink pepper – woody and musky with just enough rose to sweeten and feminize. I love how this perfume evolves from something nearly unisex to something soft and sweet like candy. I’m so glad I took a chance on this perfume. I love it!

Gently sweet, fruity pink pepper, not fiery and brazen, but soft and luscious as it makes contact with my skin. As the fusion of warmth takes over, the musky character of labdanum creates an incensed aura.
The greenness of iris and violet leaf are subtle but give this woody fragrance a soft, beautiful clarity.
Patchouli is infused throughout in the most feminine way. Typically, I find patchouli somewhat aggressive (which I like), but as this fragrance settles, it creates a natural, subtley sweet, wooded rose of the most alluring kind that beckons rather than demands–gently arresting and hypnotic.
Beautifully animated and full bottle worthy.

Incense and patchouli … almost always a winning combination! That’s the first thing I smell when I apply this. Gradually, as the scent develops, I start smelling the labdanum and woods along with a sweet, clear, almost fruity note.
The fruity, woody patchouli lasts for a few hours, after which it dies down to an unusual candy-like scent. The sillage is moderate, as is the longevity. Esteban has been a big surprise for me. I have loved every one of their perfumes that I’ve tried, and Patchouli goes on that ever-expanding list.

Hello friends!
I first smelled this perfume on a woman that I was dating. This smell was like persecuting me, I fell in love with it. Very soon the lady made me the present of Patchouli. Now I`m putting it all over me all the time, but I stop to feel it almost immediately. That`s a pity because I love it, I really want to smell it on me, but no way, I don`t feel it…
The smell is gorgeous and distinguished.

I’m not cool with patchouli when it dominates, so I wasn’t expecting much from something called “Patchouli”, but I love challenges.
The opening is heavy “in your face”, sexy and dark patchouli followed by a light “breeze” of what I thought – lemon – but as I can see it’s not listed. I was enjoying the marvelous opening actually as it reminded me of one of my loves – Etro by Ambra.
The problem appeared when the heart part hit in, rose is delightful, really – cold, majestic and very sexy, but I have a problem with iris&violet combo, it’s somehow metallic and powdery together and on my skin it doesn’t smell good.
If it wouldn’t be for the heart I would be in love.

I’m so glad I bought it. It’s marvelous and magic. Patchouli sounds really great and not irritating even on my pale skin. It’s even strange that this EDT lasts all day long. In my opinion it’s one of the most sexy perfumes.

You asked for patchouli, and Esteban PATCHOULI delivers! This is a big, voluptuous, va-voom patchouli fragrance with huge sillage and fantastic staying power. In fact, it’s all so outspoken that I probably would not wear this in a public setting…
Here are the notes according to the house’s website:
Lead notes: black pepper, pink peppercorns
Heart notes: white rose, iris, violet leaves
Base notes: patchouli, labdanum
The pepper is quite light, thankfully, and patchouli really is the star of the show. Not too dark, but not quite clean, and not at all sweet, this is a floralized patchouli with lots of depth and big billowy presence. Recommended for all and only patchouli fanatics!
