Matador-M – :
I love the scent of patchouli. It must be the classic “stinky hippie” variety, not the sanitized versions you’ll find in Tom Ford fragrances, amongst others.
Esscentual Alchemy has some of my favorite patchouli scents. In some of Amanda Feeley’s fragrances, patchouli is an effectively-used supporting player (Come to Me, Audax Fortes). In Patchouli Creme, this component is front and center in a beautiful and complex oriental blend that conjures comforting memories for me.
My mom is a big patchouli fan and I associate the fragrance with her, which is probably part of Patchouli Creme’s appeal for me. Add in the notes of coffee, some cookie-like elements (vanilla, nutmeg), clean lavender aromas and a few other goodies, and voila! Patchouli Creme is a scent of “home” for me.
It stays just to the side of “gourmand” in its effect, but gourmand lovers would probably enjoy this one as well. It’s slightly sweet, richly spiced, warm and pleasant. People who enjoy a straight-up patchouli scent will find enough patchouli aroma here but will enjoy a few more enticing notes to sniff along with it.
Patchouli fans already know how tenacious the aroma is. With the added power players of vanilla, coffee and hyrax, the longevity on this one is excellent, 6 hours and more. The strength of all these notes also require application of Patchouli Creme with a light hand for office use/shared spaces.
Thank you to Esscentual Alchemy for the opportunity to try this beautiful scent.
