Description
After the original Parisienne from 2009, than Eau de Toilette and Parisienne A L `Extreme from 2010, Yves Saint Laurent presents Parisienne L’Essentiel in autumn 2011. This version is conceived as the essence of femininity and promises to be the most sophisticated and sensual so far.
Parisienne is: “A woman incredibly free. Free to think, free to act … She conveys the joy of living and loving in the moment … This is why Paris adopts her. She has the face of an angel, the body of a woman who didn’t sleep last night, an air of carnal knowledge. A woman in an evening gown at the break of day. Scandalous, some say? Free, she says. An Yves Saint Laurent woman. A true Parisienne …”
Parisienne L’Essentiel is an oriental – floral fragrance. It opens with notes of juicy blackberries mixed with vinyl accord. The heart of the composition includes a bouquet of iris, Damasc rose and Sambac jasmine. The base reveals accords of suede, tonka and musk.
The new face of the fragrance is French model Marine Vacth. The fragrance is available as 30 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Blackberry vinyl raspberry rose jam with a little bit of powder. I find the vinyl note stronger in this one than in the original Parisienne, and I appreciate this facet – it makes it quite distinctive. Smells synthetic, in a good way.

I’ve been wearing this for most of this week and I’m disappointed. I swapped my Petite Robe Noir EDP because between the two I preferred this and I thought they were too similar. Now I regret it because after 10 minutes I can’t smell this at all…and I’m an oversprayer!
DeadClock – :
I wore it for a very short time because a masculine colleague and my mother said on the same week that something is smelling like toilets. Maybe the rose but it stopped me immediatly !

The Sambac jasmin and rose notes are incredible! The amethyst bottle is another thing I adore on this fragrance. Very warm, feminine and sensual! This would be my purchase of next month on Strawberrynet…

I definitely get vinyl in this one! Once it settles it smells like one of those scented dolls from 80’s or scented rubber eraser. I definitely get the whole “make-up bag” feel from it. It is somewhat similar to the original but lacks the rose accent.
The scent it rich, sweet and creamy. It is fairly warm today so I don’t think I like it in this weather but I can see the potential during cooler months.
The bottle is my favorite part of this perfume, it looks so pretty and I think will stand out on any dresser.

I was really surprised I liked this one. I am not supposed to like anything fruity + sweet. I took some time to test it, but it was always love. I just had to have a bottle. It is a day perfume to me. Very girly and youthful, a bit too girly for a woman of my age, I think, but I don’t care, because I love it. It is also sweet, way too sweet for my taste, but it doesn’t bother me a lot, because I love it anyway. This is my most girly and sweetest perfume. I think it reminds me something my mom used when I was a little girl, maybe that’s why I like it.
I don’t detect any plastic here, so lucky i am, only fruity rose and some spices. It is pretty much linear to me. Very good longevity, it lasts 8 hours on my skin. I wear it to work, not often, but sometimes. I still think perfumes for office should be more formal and colder, but this one is not. It is very feminine, cheerful, happy and also a bit flirty. It can be used for evenings, if applied more heavily, but it is not dark enough, in my opinion. It does smell purple but in a good, expensive and elegant way. The bottle is very pretty and very convenient to hold. This is the only perfume of mine that my little daughter likes. She often asks to smell it, put a little dab on her wrist and whether she can get the bottle when I am finished + if I can buy it for her when she will grow up 🙂

at first it smells very french, rather retro and i don’t fancy it much. i don’t hate it, but i wouldn’t buy it. but when it settles in it becomes very sexy, warm and leathery. not in an agressive way but kind of slow-motion alluring. the girl on the ad is dressed perfectly for this perfume. if you want to smell the way she looks, you’ve found your perfume 😉

Lovely, feminine parfum for someone who likes roses, and berries. I dont smell vinyl in it, only, the whole impression is that at the beginning it gives everything and goes up, but at the end it becomes a little sad and melancholic, like dry roses smell!
It is strong and lasts for minimum 4 hours and then it becomes not so strong.
If you love YSL and Paris you will love this one. I did not like Parisienne with Kate Moss so much.I like this girl now on the picture, and she represents parfume very good. She is innocent and free and happy like this parfume.
I wear it every day,and prefer to put it in the morning than in the evening. It is for spring, and winter, and it will not pass unnoticed at all .But this is a parfume for a women that likes herself and doesnt care what other think about too much!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this after a lot of searching for it online, bought it blind and love it! I own the regular parisienne and the à l’extreme version as well and this is the most smokey and sexy one. I found this very unusual, nothing like anything I’ve smelt before! If you love parisienne, you’ll certainly love this!

Tested it today. Smells like a Ribena carton (blackcurrant drink) has leaked into a plastic bag on a warm day. Actually, I think it’s quite a pleasant smell, but am definitely underwhelmed by this as a fragrance to wear.

I agree with this being a smooth, creamy variation of L’Extreme.
L’Essentiel may appear more creamy than L’Extreme which feels earthy and leathery.
L’Essentiel has a very pleasant rosey-fruity feel in heart. It is quite powerful and elegant; great for formal occassions; business meetings, panel presentations. It will make a statement without screaming out loud.
It will also be suitable for a date with breakfast, the combo of black lace lingerie and L’Essentiel will seem almost obvious when you first try it.
I don’t detect any strong plasticky note; just that pleasant blueberry floral (strong rich rose accord) on a creamy tonka base with a hint of suede.
Perfect winter warmer.
I am not disappointed with silage or lasting power – don’t be surprised if people around you will comment on how beautiful you smell even when you cannot smell it on yourself anymore. (good 7 hours lasting power)
10/10
I wish I knew who was the nose behind this beauty????

This is lovely! I dont care much for the original, but the extreme version is very nice as well. Its a fresh coocktail of powdery roses, crispy reb berries and a cool freshness. This one is more warm and creamy. When I first tried it I didnt get any “plastic” note. It started warm and and fruity and continued as a creamy, smooth fruity and sweet smelling perfume. Got complements even though I was just wearing it about 3h. I think the sillage was very good, it smelled all around me and the lasting power was avrige. I can still smell it a few hours later, but not as strong as I would have wish for. I love this creamy smooth fruit scent and its going on my wantlist!

Smells like blackberries and vinyl to me. Ew.
And why is there another lady on the ad? Kate Moss was so much better! She has a weird face but shes really pretty, and she made the perfume unforgettable. Now, there’s just another girl who looks likw a gazillion others. She looks like she has been picked up at a cheap nightclub.
The first 2 parisennes are still the best.

this is the Parisienne I have been searching for 🙂 thanks to nathalieZ I have a very nice decant, and had the chance to be able to test this. I love all the versions, but this one is the warmest, the coziest, and a little gourmandish, witch I tend to lean towards. I love the tonka in here, and this one still holds that plastic smell but smells kind of like licorice , and I like that. I loved the L’Extreme, but it was a bit to cold, like not warm or sweet, it was more crisp. This one is more my style definatley, because its just a tad sweet, and warm. Good winter scent.

The original Parisienne was supposed to have (or partly based on) vinyl and lacquer ” reminding us of the special scent of a cosmetic bag, make – up and high-heels on the hot city asphalt” (as if Paris was ever that “hot city” like NYC for example)…
In theory, but in practice most of us cannot sense such accords.
I doubt that since P&G owns YSL they will ever do controversial creations like M7 or NU. They are populist and comformist now, the same way as Armani for example.
