So underrated it’s ridiculous. This fragrance is luxurious, classy, and alluring. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is simultaneously creamy and powdery in a “old school Hollywood” type of way. However, it has enough facets popular in modern perfumery to be wearable for anyone. I really love this one. People compare it to Gold but this one is the far superior of the two.

Beautiful! This is a glamorous and elegant fragrance reminiscent of Michael Kors Very Hollywood, and Hollywood Star by Fred Hayman. It’s missing the white florals usually associated with “classic Hollywood” stars and their fragrances, Jungle Gardenia, and instead this smells of a gorgeous powdery iris and rose. On me it’s a beautiful rose. The top is citrusy with orange and the bottom is patchouli. It comes off as pretty strong but there are moments when it softens into vanilla and powder. Sweet but mature. I recommend this to mature ladies who enjoy Orientals. I like to wear this when I’m all dressed up and perform in weddings, galas and anniversaries. It’s a perfume that matches up with my evening haute couture. As a professional chanteuse I must look AND SMELL my best. This is one of those perfumes that just smell like a million bucks even though it doesn’t have to cost you and arm and a leg. Good job Oscar! Thank You!

Fragrance Review For Red Satin Oscar De La Renta
Top Notes Mandarin Orange Bergamot Rose
Middle Notes Orange Blossom Jasmine Iris
Base Notes Patchouli Vanilla
So you’re not an A list Hollywood celebrity. So what. So you’re not Angelina Jolie with the big sexy – lips. So you’re not dressed in thousands of dollars worth of expensive gowns by Alexander McQueen or Versace. This is an Oscar de La Renta fashion piece of it’s own. Wear this perfume and you feel like you’re walking on the Red Carpet on Oscar Night. Truth be told so many Oscar de La Renta fragrances create that effect. I feel the same way about Esprit D’Oscar. This is a glamorous Old Hollywood floral fragrance. If we get down to what it smells like it’s not too far from smelling like Shalimar, or Fred Hayman’s Hollywood and Hollywood Star perfumes as well as Michael Kors Very Hollywood. It’s also similar to Paris Hilton’s Tease except without the fruit. This is an evening cologne of sophistication and maturity but it has such a glamorous aura. It can almost pass for one of the Elizabeth Taylors. It opens with a citrusy sweet fresh bergamot orange. The orange blossom is also obvious at the first spritz. The citrusy smells really match up with the rose because roses often have a citrusy scent in perfume. The rose is the big player here. But it isn’t just rose. The iris is also wonderfully alive and fragrant. For the middle stage of this perfume it’s mainly rose iris and jasmine flowers. The dry down gets progressively more aromatic and Oriental. It has the Shalimaresque patchouli and a touch of incense and a lot of vanilla. The vanilla becomes powder. If you like the way this sounds: citrus plus rose plus patchouli and vanilla, this perfume has an elegant development of all those scents. This is just so lovely. I cant wait to wear this to the opera, to weddings, to symphonies, to any formal black tie gala or fancy dinner party. This is for those of us who love to dress in our best even if you’re not invited to the Oscars

This scent is simply gorgeous. I did not expect to like it this much based on the notes but the floral bouquet here is so exquisite. Oscar Red Satin is definitely a ‘red carpet style fragrance’ as mentioned by the reviewer below. It is glamorous, opulent and sensual but yet it is not overpowering or loud or indolic like many other jasmine fragrances turn out on my skin. There is a smooth, creamy and sensual quality to this scent that it is absolutely irresistible.
The scent opens with the fresh citrus accords mixed with the light rose water scent. There is a hint of jasmine noticeable right away but it is not overpowering in this scent. The scent becomes smooth and creamy with white floral bouquet in the heart notes. The orange blossoms mixed beautifully with the jasmine. There is a slight powdery note from the iris but I would not call the heart notes powdery. It is just there to add a smooth feel to the scent. The patchouli note is light but it adds a nice woody, spicy feel to the heart notes. I do not smell much patchouli in the base notes. I find that the base notes are very creamy, comforting and gentle blend of slightly sweet vanilla and amber. I know amber is not listed but I think I do smell it here. The base notes are as lovely as the rest of the scent. The sillage is not overpowering but noticeable. The longevity is great.
Overall score is 9/10. I love the creamy, smooth and lavish qualities of this scent. I definitely recommend it if you like creamy white floral scents with warm vanilla and amber dry down.

Very glamourous, sexy and elegant is right. I think I found a new signature.

I purchased it mainly because of the gorgeous bottle, but what inside the bottle is just as gorgeous! I would describe it as sexy, sensual, seductive and sultry! It reminds me of Elle by YSL a little, probably because of the patchouli note. Also smells along the line of Burburry Brit Gold. I also have the Gold edition of Oscar, which is similar to Red Satin, but has orris root instead of iris in the middle notes, which gives it a different twist.
Perfect for colder months.Lovely!!!

Wauw this is like Venice from Yves Rocher?? That means I have to have it!!!

Not at all like the original Oscar, but much more similar to Yves Rocher’s Venice… to an extreme. I like this for its almost perfect mix of sweet flowers with the earthy patchouli, but I use it only on the very coldest of days and preferably as a night time fragrance. Another hint: don’t spray it directly on your skin, spray into the air and walk into it. If you enjoy giving off smoldering and seductive vibes, this is the scent for you.

RED SATIN is what I would called a ‘red carpet fragrance’- stunning, glamourous, desirable and sexy! I wore to a latin dance competetion, and I was feeling REAL GOOD on the dancefloor, especially when I was dancing my favourite rumba, a very sensual secent is floating out with the body temperature and movement, not distracting at all, but ‘glowing’ around me… I would definitely recommend it for ‘affectionate’ wearing : )
