Bois Oro is a simple & pure masculine scent for cool weather. It’s all about leather, fine smoke and a faint fruity twist. Everything here is well balanced. It’s a heavy scent but it is not cloying. The oud in it is completely safe. It’s a smoke with a pinch of tar, just a little, it’s pleasant to the nose. The leather is dominant along with the smoke (oud). There’s also a mild woody powder, very faint fruitness. Bois Oro is not so playful and complex as the note pyramibe shows.
If you like Gucci Gucci Guilty Absolute or The Spirit of Dubai Meydan or the opening of Carner Barcelona Black Calamus  give it a try.
Longevity is above the average, very good. But the sillage is moderate. If you want a complex leathery beast try the Meydan by The Spirit of Dubai.
    Edit
Pretty much it is a simple scent with not much action till the end. I was expecting much more from their top Limited Edition offering. I already own Meydan and Black Calamus so it might be redundant owning Oro 1920. It’s a very manly and nice scent but for the moment I think I don’t need it. Maybe if it had more vivid rasberries which are almost non-existent and maybe if it had a little more realistic oud I might had already bought it. I’ll try it again to confirm that thought.

Outstanding juice!! This is VERY reminiscent of Godolphin; an explosive fragrance with some strong tobacco and smokiness, however minus the raspberry sweetness strongly associated with Godolphin IMO.
Leather, woods, tobacco, even a very small hint of raspberry sitting in the foreground similar to Godolphin as mentioned. Oro has a dark impression, yet rosy. (In the beginning I am reminded of Versace’s Versace Man [purple bottle] but in the dry down, I am also slightly reminded of Sandalwood by The Art of Shaving.) A great moment for artistry in perfumery of this wonderful fragrance!
I have not smelled Tuscan Leather so I can’t give any comparison there; however, I can say that this does put me in the genre of Oud Saphir-Atelier or again, Godolphin-Parfums de Marly because of the raspberry/tobacco leather combination.
(Side by side test of this and Godolphin and they are identical!!! If you have Oro even Oud Saphir by Atelier you don’t need Godolphin -I REPEAT YOU DON’T NEED THEM IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THE OTHERS!) Oro is its own fragrance and places you in the category of the aforementioned fragrances!
With this fragrance, you are left with a nice dark leathery laced, tobacco filled fragrance that has a bit of a smoky menthol type of aura that is, IMHO, very nice!! This is the emerging brother of Versace Man (purple bottle) or the twin brother of PdM-Godolphin, maybe the cousin of Oud Saphir-Atelier….purple-ly, tobacco-esque, dark, sweet-ish, smoky, & oh so LOVELY!
    Performance: 8.5/10
Longevity: 10/10…sprayed & remained until the next day!
    Silage: 7.5/10
    Projection: 8/10
Overall, Oro is one of those fragrances that I find very comforting and with more time, one that will be found in the rotation continuously!

I’m getting a musky leather . . .hide may be a better description and some resinous notes that sometimes seem smokey. in the first few minutes. Hopefully some of those other notes will come out as I wear it,
Six hours in and I’m getting some fun nuance — ginger spice, florals and a dab of vanilla. The leather is less musky but still dominate. I’m impressed.
24 hours later I can still smell iris and some general perfumey notes. Amazing
I revisited to explore that raspberry note and I havento say.it is distinctly present for a bit, but is definitely not central to the fragrance as a whole.

This lasts forever and will bomb if oversprayed. Very similar to Tuscan Leather. Although the cocaine note is toned down a bit; you can still noticeably smell it. Added to that you will get a dirty smoke type vibe almost reminiscent of extinguished tobacco. I also prefer the subtle raspberry note of Oro 1920 to the one in Tuscan Leather which reminds me too much of that found in Mont Blanc’s Individuel (so gross). Plus Tuscan Leather stained one of my sweaters when I applied it so the winner by TKO is Oro 1920 lol.

(Nodding in agreement with other reviewers)…
Not a lot new to add, this is easily the most amazing leather scent I’ve ever smelled. Yes, similar to Tuscan Leather but smoother, better blended, smoky but not too much, no cocaine vibe, slightly tart and fresh but usable in almost any weather, near perfect performance. I’ve smelled a lot of leathers, and my god this stuff is good.

This is a heavenly leather scent. You can smell that quality, and each sniff takes me back to the last time I was in Florence (where this stuff is made, by hand).
I tried it for a few days but unfortunately was a bit disappointed with the projection. I spend a lot of time finding the right fragrances for myself, and when I commit to one, it has to be strong and long-lasting. This is long-lasting but has poor projection.

Take Tuscan Leather, half the strength, remove the ashyness, add a dash of vanilla bean(not super sweet vanilla syrup) there’s the base. Now take a slightly powdery iris and blend it with an incensed rose a la Calligraphy Rose, that’s your mid. Now throw on a little blast of pin fir, there’s the opening. This is a beautiful fir/floral/leather and one of the best in the genre. Try this if you’ve liked TL, Dior Homme Parfum, La Yuqawam, etc.
The people comparing this to TL are kind of off base. If sampling out of a vial it will be much more similar to TL, but it really comes alive when sprayed.
Like all Bois 1920s, the projection is moderate, never really blasting past arm’s length. Longevity on this one is average for an EDP.
While TL and La Yuq are very heavy, grating fragrances, this one is much more powdery, smooth, and floral. The more restrained nature and cooling fir blast in the opening make for an interesting wear, even in summer heat.
Rating from poor to outstanding: ★★★★★ Outstanding, a best in genre fragrance.

Sometimes we understand the essence of a perfume better when there is a story.
One sniff of this creation and you will be transported. Transported to a cosy table for two on a cool winter night. There are gazes, long and intense, no words just gazes, and the air is filled with smoky scent from fireplace and best quality noir. They pay and step out to find that the light rainfall has now stopped. They look into each others eyes intoxicated with the mystical air and smile at each other, and holding hands they start walking down the lane, inhaling the fragrance of wet ground, old stone buildings, trees, dust, smell from the now extinguished bonfire on the side of the road where a group of friends are smoking and chatting, kids are running around with fairy floss, chestnut man is roasting the chestnuts in big iron pot. The cool air is now so irresistible that the right thing would be to capture it in a bottle for the days when you crave to be flirtatious and intensely romantic.
He pulls her close, whispers into her ear and makes her go weak in the knees. The scent in the air is intense and magical. Pulling her by her hand he leads her into the dark alley. The air around them is now warm and smoky, a little dirty yet passionately intoxicating…in a slight speck of light and in this moment of heat their eyes meet again …. Don’t stop she whispers..
    Bois 1920 Oro.
Head notes: ginger, raspberry & pine tree.
Heart notes: olibanum, guaiac wood, iris, May rose & osmanthus.
Base note: opoponax, agarwood (oud), tobacco, vanilla & leather
Bios 1920 Oro is perfection in a bottle if the dark, intense, woody and smoky gets your heart racing and transports you to a mysterious romantic state.

Only the opening note smells somewhat like Tuscan Leather to me. On the drydown they are very different. Oro is slightly more pungent and has a different sweetness due to the vanilla I think. I also has a hint of hot tar buried in there that is VERY addictive. Not sure if I’m identifying that correctly, but whatever it is, it’s amazing – though that note doesn’t last past the first couple hours.
Oro is also more elegant/fancier and even a little powdery after an hour or two, which normally I’m not a huge fan of, but mixed with such a masculine leather smell, it sort of balances it out nicely. I guess some could say it is a more mature fragrance, but I think it’s so unique and complex that younger guys and women can definitely benefit from it as well.
Tuscan Leather is a bit too dry for me. Seems sort of straight forward and I don’t get as much rasberry as everyone else seems too. I wish there was more, because I do get a lot of the cocaine note people mention, which is not attractive to me whatsoever.
Love Oro. I just ordered a sample of Golden Boy so I can compare that one as well. I’ll have to check out Bijan Men too I guess, though I can’t imagine it holds up to any of these others.
edit: Over a year later and this is still my signature scent. I’ve sampled tons more since then and this reigns supreme. Only other scent that comes close to #1 is Bois d’Orage by Frederic Malle – very different but equally unique and addictive. And I tried Golden Boy…didn’t like it at all
